Premise/plot: Bo loves playing with Comet the new colt on the Davis farm. Comet loves playing with Bo. These two--though different--have quite a good time together. But silly Bo, well, he decides it is HIS job to teach Comet how to be a horse!!! The results aren't that great. This chapter book has a few adventures and misadventures with this pair.
My thoughts: I liked this one. I definitely liked the first one better. But I think that's just how it may be with this series books. I can see that some titles I may especially like, and others maybe not as well. Still, Bo is super cute and adorable. I think the series would make a lovely addition in homes and libraries.
Cute enough series about a dog named Bo who lives on a farm. In this one, he's trying to teach a horse how to be a horse. They race and discover their unique capabilities. It was just fine and not very memorable.
“You know, there’s a saying all farm animals should learn: barn hair, don’t care.”
Bo is back with his second adventure. This one starts out with Bo trying to outrace Comet, the new foal in the barnyard. Bo’s pretty confident he can win, but in the end, the only reason he does is because Comet stops to look at a butterfly and doesn’t cross the finish line. After an outing with best friend, Scrapper, Bo decides that someone needs to teach Comet how to be a great horse. Bo fails to realize that he knows a lot about being a dog, but maybe he doesn’t know so much about being a horse. Bo begins “horse lessons” with Comet anyway. “Those are squirrels ... we chase them, but they are really fast.”
Bo’s heart is in the right place, but he ends up causing some trouble for Comet. In the end, though, Bo realizes that what Comet really needs is a good friend. He can do that!
Read aloud in one sitting. So fun to be back with this series! These books are told from a dog’s perspective living on a farm. The illustrations are top notch adorable, the story makes sense and has a sweet plot, and the characters (human and animal) are fun and interesting. This one in particular had a well plotted lesson in giving advice and learning from mistakes. Love these and so do my kids. Perfect for fans of Sophie Mouse.
The second book in the series and just as delightful as the first. This book explores Bo’s friendship with Comet - the foal - and how one doesn’t need to be the same to be a good friend. It’s cute and quirky with adorable illustrations on every page.
Gentle story very good for early chapter book readers about a dog who knows all about farm life and decides to teach the new foal. Easy lessons learned (both for the foal and the dog). Part of a series, so kids could read more.
Bo is interested in a new foal on the farm. He wants to play, and then takes it upon himself to teach the foal how to be a horse. Bo has to learn that he still has a lot to learn himself.
This was a really cute second installment to this series. Bo is friends with the new colt on the farm and attempts to teach him how to be a horse... by acting like a dog. 😄 My daughter loves this series.
Miss 8- I thought Bo wasn't the best horse trainer but such a great friend. I enjoyed the story and I am excited to read more stories with Bo Davis on the farm.
Bo is back in Book #2! In this book, Bo is sure that he’s lived on the farm long enough that he can teach the new baby horse, Comet, about farm life! The problem is, Bo only knows life on the farm from a dog perspective, which isn’t how a horse should behave!
A cute story and more of our farm friends! We can’t wait to read the whole series!
I love this series! My little boys (2 and 3) are able to follow along and stay focused over 1 or 2 sittings, and my 8yo enjoys reading these on his own. Sweet storyline, sweet illustrations, diverse family. Great all around!
