Sadly this volume was not as good as the other ones. I think this is because it is building up to another story arc so this volume was slower in pace and plot. It was nice to see all the characters relaxed, and the ending made it so I wanted to find out what happened next, but the lack of clear plot made this volume to be disappointing to read. I still liked the manga a lot, and I would still recommend the series regardless.
This series continues to be funny, heartwarming, and charming with adorable artwork and a great cast of characters! This volume was very short in comparison to previous volumes and only really focuses on the school festival, but it was a lot of fun (as usual). More characters were introduced, Katarina has a new goal now that her life is no longer in danger, and it was great seeing all these characters banter and be goofy.
Probably my favorite parts revolved around the play, with Nicol getting to be a heartthrob and Katarina getting to go back to her roots as a villainess. Although the scene with Keith and Mary was also hilarious, mostly because Mary is both charming and terrifying. I love how Katarina has effectively taken the role as reverse harem protagonist lead and doesn't realize it and how shamelessly all of her love interests not only fight over her but flirt with her. This is one of the few reverse harems that I can tolerate, mostly because it doesn't feel like one, but I still give it mad props for being enjoyable and adorable.
I'm suuuuper curious to see where that cliffhanger ending leads to, as well as learning more about the new characters introduced. Can't wait til then!
You know how the story goes. A high school girl wakes up to a new life – quite literally, for she's been reborn as Catarina Claes, a villainess and spoiled daughter of a duke. In other words, a big pain in the butt.
Somehow, Katarina Claes has managed to avoid countless Doom moments, successfully surviving to the graduation party. Unfortunately, it seems that there's a sequel to this dating sim, and now she's stuck in it! (Again)
Review:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: don't ever change Katarina. She's just as clueless in My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 5, but it is still highly endearing. Okay, and it's pretty funny too. This time her cluelessness felt a little more front and center as she dreamed up all these potential romances between the side characters. Too funny.
There's a real tongue-in-cheek moment in this volume that I know readers will like. That said, I think the anime had a bit more fun playing around with this scene, so make sure you watch the show so you don't miss out!
Finally, My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 5 concludes with another surprising twist. Isn't that always her luck? At least this time none of her friends got kidnapped, so that's something, right?

the anime definitely elaborated on the play a lot more with villainess Catarina plus the dance with Mary and Alan playing the piano and the fight between Geord and Nicol😆
'My Next Life As A Villainess' continues to be an excellently adorable manga, this volume being the first 'new' material after the end of the first anime season and also the beginning of a new arc now that she's cleared all of the game that she knew of. It does a great job of being light and fun and reintroducing everyone, as well as teasing at some of the upcoming drama that's going to keep her so very confused. :) I love that this is such a pure harem comedy because everyone's so clearly in love with her, but she's built up such strong relationships with all of them that not only are they all not willing to blow it all up, but that her own version of their permanent friendship is believable and adorable too. (As an aside, I wonder what reading this is like for people who have different favored endings? Because when I look at it, I think that clearly Maria - who is pure and excellent and perfect for Katarina - and Mary - who is going to snap one day and have to explain that she only kisses with tongue because she "likes you" likes you - are ahead of the game, but I feel like if you favor other characters, they might seem like they've got more of an edge.... well, except for Jeord, because the mental effort Katarina has to put in to _not_ understand getting married to her actual fiancee seems like there's probably also something else going on.) Anyway, this is adorable and great and I can't recommend highly enough that you pick this up - you could even jump in right here, as everything is starting over. It's even introducing more elegant and beautiful characters to enjoy, so go read it!
The original doom story has successfully been averted, but apparently this game has a sequel. Both the reader and Katarina are on new ground, even as Katarina remains oblivious to every other main character's affections.
So in this new narrative, it's festival time! But fantasy kingdom festival, not traditional Japanese festival, much to Katarina's slight disappointment. But, now we need a new antagonist, or at least a point of conflict, which might end up being between all of Katarina's love interests... no spoke too soon.
New story, new characters, shorter book... eh, I'm enjoying what we have.
It´s like.... one of the best otome animes/ manga I´ve ever read. Normally there a two ppl (max) which I can imagine being with the main character. But in this one every potential love interest is so likeable (my fave is Keith tho). *Bakarina* has her one charm bc she´s so oblivious and doesn´t understand how everyone around her is so charmed by her. (I guess that´s one of the reasons why this otome is so fricking enjoyable xD) If you´re searching for light manga with great characters this one´s for you.
Short story is where Katarina and her harem are in kindergarten, and their teacher is Anne. The artwork is so cute. My fav illustration is where Katarina eats Alan’s doughnut and he is crying about it. Well, she did win that doughnut in a contest. My favorite part of the story is Geordo retaining his crush on Katarina despite how actually throws snakes at him MULTIPLE times. Extra manga omake where Anne decides to let little Katarina sleep on the grass after the latter cuddles close.
This volume feels strange as it is the beginning of a new story arc, but if you read my review of volume 4, it seems as if the story should have just ended at 4 volumes. This 5th volume actually feels like an epilogue, but we know it is the beginning of new adventures starring Katarina. I liked the volume, but I found myself waiting and waiting for the conflict to present itself. It was a happy volume, and you know...sometimes we just need happiness for the sake of happiness.
Enter new, lovable characters!! My main man is finally here!! The butler Rufus, I see you and can't wait for more of his story (I know how it'll go, I'm just excited to finally see him enter Katerina's story). The whole school festival is one of my favorite parts in the series, especially what happens after the play *wink wink
The Volume Was a slower than the pervious, plus being a lesser page count than previous but I also feel that it's building nicely to the next arc of the series.
Compared to the anime and the novel for this part of the story, the manga really rushed the plot beats. The comedic timing for some of the jokes were off as well because of that rushing.
Protagonistka jest głupsza niż ustawa przewiduje, tak niedomyślnej postaci jeszcze nigdy nie spotkałam w popkulturze. Coś czuję, że ona skończy w związku z Marią.
