G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
This is a reread for me. I read this book when it first came out under the name "A Name Like Karma." I didn't however ever continue the series before when I read it. I'm not sure why. Maybe it hadn't been completely released yet? I was irritated to find that the whole series hadn't been re-released. So its like started yet another unfinished series. /sigh. I thought this was a pretty decent if not really confusing first book in the series even the second time around lol. I thought the story was engaging and humorous and the characters were pretty easy to connect to.. Now what exactly is going on here.. well who the eff knows.
Our FMC, Karma, who is a minor goddess of her namesake, gets a new "mark" to carry out Karma on. However during said job.. like all her other jobs it seems, something goes horribly wrong and the mark dies. Now Karma is a wanted fugitive being hunted by the Justice god brothers. Only they won't stop to listen that it was just a horrible accident. While delivering her to life in prison.. it seems they get stuck in prison with her. Now everyone is in prison and no one honestly knows why. It seems the higher gods have some explaining to do .. if only they could find a way out of there.
The book was entertaining if not really fast paced, which if I'm honest is G. Bailey's style so I am not surprised. I'm interested to see where this goes, its obvious there is some shady business happening. Just not looking forward to moving ahead when there is no end out yet.
Imprisoned Gods may seem familiar to you if you are a fan of G. Bailey. A Name Like Karma is what this series was originally. Gem wanted to put some more time in and make the series longer. So not only do we get more Karma and her guys, we get more scenes and action. So if you were a fan of Karma before, you are getting the same story, just more. Honestly I enjoyed Karma the first time around and with the added scenes it's like reading the same book but slightly different. So just in case you were wondering if this looked familiar then it does.
If you are new to this series, or G. Bailey this is a good series to start off on.
Karma is still her klutzy self, she is strong, funny and determined. So if you like myths and legends, Gods and Goddesses this series is for you.
So I am not understanding why this is a new release. I have already read this book word for word under another name. I enjoyed the series but am irritated to have ordered the exact same book. It just doesn't make sense.
She is a goddess of karma and her job is to bring luck to peoples lives. The type of luck depends upon the individual.
They are the justice twins. Their job is to enforce the law, and judge people accordingly.
A job gone wrong forces them to hunt her down, but is she the only one who is going to get punished...?
What a unique and quirky read, it wasnt at all what I expected.
This was initially a bit of a slow burn for me. The more I read the more I enjoyed it though.
I didnt connect very well with Karma at the start. She's rather unique and kooky.
I began to like her when the judgement landed and her future became bleak. She really came into herself then and wasn't just a clumsy so and so.
The justice twins are different yet the same. I instantly wanted to know everything about them.
I wanted their backstory, the answers to all my questions, and the key to their hearts.
This series has so much potential, and it could literally now go anywhere. I'm rather looking forward to finding out what happens next after that cliff ending.
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
I've heard so much about Karma and how everyone loved her story when it first came out, so I was really excited to get this novel!
I felt like the beginning was a bit slow to get into, but once Karma got herself in a bit of a pickle (okay, maybe a lot) things picked up and really got interesting.
I loved Killian, Seth, and Storm. My absolutely favorite, though, would have to be Jade and I'm a bit upset about that... :(
There is a TON of unknowns in this novel. So many secrets, which is driving me bonkers because I just NEED to know what will happen!
I'm so glad Kit got a bigger role in this story - I was hoping that he would be more useful than eating food under a bed lol.
I'm excited and intrigued to see what is going to come next!
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
This is a rework of the book A name like karma.
Gem sure does have this magical way looping you into her books and leaves you wanting more with your jaw dropped open. This was such a refreshing take on a book and I instantly fell in love with Karma and her men.
Karma has this take it as it is attitude and speaks what is on her mind. I love how she is a strong character and knows what she wants. She also has the worst luck which is how she ends up locked up with Storm, Seth, and Killian. Man I would love to be locked up with these 3 men as well! Each has very different personalities but all have their own sexiness about them. Storm is currently my favorite. I love his alpha, take charge attitude.
THAT ENDING…. WHAT!??!?!!!! I really cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
If you are looking for a quirky and sexy heroine this is a great book. Karma is a karma goddess but she isn't a very good one. She would rather deal bad guys their karma than the good actions. Its funny how awful she is at her job. She has a good heart though so landing in a magical prison should have been the worst thing possible but it turns out that some of the best gods are stuck there. I love that Karma isn't perfect and is actually accident prone. I don't know how she will get far with the three guys that she is interested in but it will be fun to see.
I enjoyed this book 📖 the first time round 😊 and I enjoyed it even more the second time round Karma is still ditzy 😆 she is a strong , determined young woman and although she has issues with control specially with her powers , but as they say Karma is a .....she just wants to be free , as she is wrongly imprisoned but will she be let go , will she be free ....what is the true story behind those other higher gods .....so many secrets to uncover and a wee cliff hanger to keep us on our toes 😮 through
I really enjoyed Karma's character. She made me laugh a lot with her inner thoughts. She's really strong and determined. We can see she wants real justice not only for her, but for everyone who doesn't belong in the prison. I want to know more about the guys. I liked Storm's possessiveness, Seth's moody attitude and Killian's playfulness.
I also like the pace of the book, it was not too fast like I'm used to with most of G. Bailey's books, but it's not too slow either. I cannot wait to read book 2 and learn more about what makes Karma a goddess!
The story is interesting enough but it is all pretty mediocre. The world building is okay, but it doesn’t have a lot of layers to it. The characters don’t really have deep histories and are pretty easy to read. The plot has some moments, but there really isn’t much build-up or eventful happenings. The changes in the relationships between characters happens quite quickly without much conflict.
All in all, the story is pretty mediocre but well-written, I suppose? I think the story is about a 3.8/5 for me.
I've never given a one-star review before. Very disappointed.
I made it through maybe three pages. There were so many repeated phrases, even in those few pages, that I couldn't even finish the chapter. It sounds like a great premise, but when the author has such a weak vocabulary that they're repeating phrases *within the same sentence*, it literally gives me a headache. I'm used to a typo or misused word here and there. But this was intolerable. L
Holy wow! I swear my mouth was just hung open on that last chapter. This book was so addictive I couldn't put it down. Karma is absolutely amazing and fun! I enjoyed reading this book extremely. I'm starting book 2 after this review.
This is definitely a must read for anyone that's into mythology or just gods in general. This prison is different than anything she's ever heard of. It's not cages and cellmates. It's actually living like a community where they were all convicted wrongfully.
But I did cry when jade died...I can't believe she's gone... That's not fair!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Until the part where she is arrested in the book was good, after that it became something very adolescent.
Every sentence she spoke revolved around men. Oh, for me it lost the quality because I didn't feel that connection between her and the guys, it seemed very rushed and everything was very dumb.
I like stories that involve this kind of mythology but I wanted something more constructed. If maybe it took more pages to develop relationships it might attract me more. Like, the guys arrested her and she was practically forgiven right away.
I loved this series when it first came out, but I love it even more now that it has been expanded and refreshed a bit. Karma is an interesting character. She is strong willed, but struggles to control her powers. When she is wrongly imprisoned, is when she meets her guys and I love the relationships that develop there. I also love her goblin Kit. Most people wouldn't, but I rather like him. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
what goes around comes around 😏 Karma Karma Karma!! ah! so good! great series and humor at its best! 😂 love the characters and the introduction. Her name is Karma and obviously she brings justice. But little does she know shes more than that. Sexy gods and beautiful friendships! Let the justice begin! ps. i love michael. her talking goat. 🤣 enough said. must read!!! #Storm is one sexy god#dibs#seth&kilianAreTheCherryonTop
Great, well-written book! It is funny, sad, and frustrating with surprise twists; the main characters are all very different from each other but all wonderful. I enjoyed this paranormal/fantasy/gods & goddesses book from beginning to end. It ended with a cliffhanger, so I'm starting the next book immediately! I love G. Bailey and have also loved her other books I've read.
The author falls into a lot of telling. Whole chapters can read like a boring, dry checklist. No reason to go onto book two for me. This was below average and life's short. Karma is a sweet, irascible character who isn't allowed depth by the author. Karen's connections with her harem are unconvincing. It's too bad because the ideas behind the story are good and imaginative. They just never get developed.
Even though there was no sexy times in this book I feel that the story is well written, drew me in like moth to a flame. Karma is absolutely adorable and funny....her wit, spanking and overall addiction to peanut butter cracks me up. The cliffhanger was a toughie but the way it was written get you all hard wired to buy the next book asap! Some things revealed, some thing questioned some thing still a secret....cannot wait to start reading book two!
I really enjoyed this book. We meet Karma, a karma goddess, and see what her world is like. We get to see other god and goddesses when Karma runs into trouble. This is going to be an interesting series and I can't wait to find out what happens to Karma and her men. Is their more to the karma goddess than she thinks and what will be the true story behind the Higher gods.
Previously known as A Name Like Karma, now retitled & republished & reimaged as Imprisoned Gods with added scenes & a new shiny cover, but the plot is still the same. Karma is her name, karma is her job, karma is what is given. Sometimes Karma is good, sometimes Karma is bad. It leaves off in a minor cliffy, so book 2 is needed by readers. It'd be interesting to see where book 2 will take us.
Mythology brought into modern times is one of my favorite reads. This one was action packed and had a nice back story. Characters are very likable and each one has their own personality. Karma's family are great secondary characters as well as Michael and Kit. I wish the test once they are in the prison was explained a bit more. Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger.
Very slow start, but worth hanging in there except that just as it starts to get good it ends with a cliff hanger! Can’t wait for the 2nd book as I was just getting into it so hopefully it’s not too long to wait! Can’t wait to see what happens next!
Oh my gosh, this is so good. I don't read it, in its first version like some. Highly recommend. You'll love the FMC and the guys. Don't stop yourself if the bed reviews are giving you pause. They read this in its short format and grumpy it's a re/extended write
Every time she brings out a new book she tops the last! So inventive with a great characters and back stories. I now need a baby goblin.....and possibly a pervy goat!
Read The 1st 1 and now I have read the rewrite . I completely love karma with her spunk and attitude And the Growth and development For supporting characters Kit is definitely my favorite
I was wondering what happened to the Secret Gods series now I know 😁
So Imprisoned Gods is what was formally ‘A Name Like Karma’ it looks to have gone through a bit of a rewrite. I loved it then and love it just as much now!
