Brian would walk the plank if it plucked Romina from her awful bottom-of-the-boat job. But knowing that their only way out of the hellish working conditions is to beat ships at their own game, he bids her adieu to learn the competitive trade of art auctioneering. And though he takes his fair share of hard knocks, he’s finally hitting the big time. Becoming a master auctioneer, he lives like a cigar-smoking king aboard elite luxury liners with access to anything he wants. But when he returns victorious to whisk his love away to better things, Romina mysteriously refuses. And he worries that in chasing his ambitions, regardless of good intentions, he may have lost her forever… Can Brian persuade Romina that the world is their oyster, or will she push his grand vision overboard? Gone with the Waves is the dramatic conclusion to the Gone with the Waves romantic comedy series, entirely of real events in the author’s life. If you like charming humor, conflicted hearts, and more twists than a whirlpool, then you’ll adore Brian David Bruns’s sweeping odyssey.
Brian David Bruns is a bestselling author, speaker, and award-winning humorist—repeat winner of Foreword Magazine’s Humor Book of the Year as well as winner of the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award and the USA REBA Grand Prize.
ABC 20/20’s Deborah Roberts observed, “This man has seen it all,” and CBS Today Show’s Peter Greenberg calls his work, “Absolutely hilarious!”. But really he is most delighted by being a British tabloid favorite.
Bruns has lived in Transylvania—in Dracula’s hometown!—and adventured in over 70 countries around the world. His unique experiences have been featured in articles in a dozen languages. He is also a keynote and motivational speaker, and does commercial narration, including voice work with celebrities such as Gene Simmons.
Most recently Bruns is creator of Motivational Monsters®—a unique blend of cheeky wit, quirky history, and self improvement disguised as monster lore. The brand includes books (The Motivational Ghost), lectures (How Vampires Saved My Family), podcast appearances, and the Motivational Monsters Club.
He also introduced the Not Monsters Pledge, donating 1% of profits to help animals abused because of superstition, fear, and ignorance—black cats, wolves, and bats. And just in case there’s sea monsters, he’s helping clean up our oceans, too.
The final book in the Gone with the Waves series continues Brian and Romina's tempestuous relationship whilst they both sail the high seas usually separately. There are emails from Romina and entries from Brian's diary which show how hard work is on a ship, and how lonely a long distanced relationship is.
The world of an Art Auctioneer on a ship is a fascinating and glamorous one. They have the potential to make lots of money and enjoy the high kudos that goes with it. Brian risks all to succeed.
Love is rocky, and monogamy is difficult, but differences in culture mean that the love story sails on. This is a true love story, but does it have a happy-ever-after? It depends what you mean by happy and forever, but the ending surprised me.
This is full of quirky anecdotes, vibrant characters, and vivid imagery. You can experience life, love and travel without leaving your home when you read this series.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
In the final instalment of this series Brian returns on board his ship in a different role as an Art Auctioneer together with a promotion. He has successfully become a three striped officer. Brian and Romina are still very much in love and have been going strong for two years.
In this book we follow Brian's wish to have his own ship. He has worked from the bottom up and is determined to make his wish come true and have Romina by his side as his partner.
We follow the highs and lows of trying to keep a relationship alive at sea and the hard work that goes in to having your own ship.
One thing that will stick with me following this book is that:- Life happens when you say yes. Growth happens when you say yes. ⭐⭐⭐
I would like to give a huge thank you to @lovebookstours for gifting me a copy of this book in return for an honest review. This is the third and final book in the Gone with The Waves trilogy. In this final book we continue to witness Romina and Brian’s relationship, while they both sail the high seas. We also see Brian getting a promotion and changing his job to become an Art Auctioneer. Throughout this whole series I have felt like I was travelling without having to leave my armchair!! It was interesting to see all of Brian’s ups and downs, not only with all the artwork involved in working on a cruise ship but also with his relationship with Romina. I have really enjoyed all of this series and found it to be full of interesting characters and lots of descriptive imagery.
