Power is control. At least that's what Sevrin thought for the first half of his vampire existence. After being shamed by those stronger than him he selfishly locked himself away for three hundred years to hone his skills, closing his ears to the cries of his brothers and sisters all over the world.
Sevrin emerged from his shack only to be greeted by a deafening silence that was once his brothers and sisters, and the propaganda machine that had the mortal population spellbound and brainwashed. He must find the remaining vampires and show them what he's learned so they can build up their numbers, and take on the Slayers who have decimated their race.
An amazing start to a series! It's a slow burn build up. I really enjoy sevrin! He's honestly my favorite character. Really looking forward to reading the rest of the books. Great vampire story. Highly recommend
I was excited to read a new vampire novel. And I was so happy with this one. I at first didn’t really like Sevrin only because he seemed cocky, and arrogant. But, I learned to understand him and his situation a bit more. He cares about his dying race, and the sudden shock of them going quiet, and silent was a lot for him to take in.
This is a slow build up type of novel, one of which I like to call a vampire suspense, and not a vampire thriller. The only thing I would like to see in the coming books, is more character development for Sevrin. Because I understand his arrogance, and his angst. But that only goes so far.
I will definitely be reading the rest of this authors books. I can see this series going far.
