About the author A true southern girl, Alexandria House has an affinity for a good banana pudding, Neo Soul music, and tall black men in suits. When this music-loving fashionista is not shopping, she's writing steamy stories about real black love.
These brothers have me weak in every sense of the word! I adored Jah and Trish. 😭
Also, this is the kind of cheating I can stand by and support.
Not a full 5 stars since I can’t stand reading about drama with an ex, but in this instance it was almost unavoidable. I just wanted her ex to disappear. The most toxic and entitled idiot, I swear.
But other than that, Jah and Trish absolutely had it!
This was short and steamy, but it also had a lot of emotion that both characters were going through. My main problem with this one, though, was that most of the plot had to do with cheating and it jumped around in time a lot. I usually don't mind flashbacks to establish a relationship, but because this was so short, the flashbacks were jarring and I just wanted the present storyline. One character was cheating a majority of the book with the other MC and I'm not a fan when that happens. So while this was a pretty good story, I was frustrated with some of the characters' decisions and that took me away from the romance.
A lot of cheating here... But Alexandria House has a way of writing that sucks you in like nobody else. Second book from her and I can't get enough of her style - how the story unfolds, how the characters are revealed... Even though a short novella, I really liked it.
3.5 Stars. Oof this is a tricky one to both rate and review. It contains cheating which I'm not always a fan of. CW: abuse, cheating
Jah is the second book in the Them Boys series and follows Jah and Tricia who we met in the first book Set. The story is filled with various flashbacks to give readers a better sense of how the two met each other. Unfortunately, at the time of their meeting Tricia was in a unhealthy relationship attempting to make it work. It was then that she met Jah and they began an affair.
What Worked: Alexandria House is such a gifted writer and storyteller so I was extremely invested in the characters and their back stories. While I didn't enjoy Jah as a character as much as I enjoyed Set, he still had some pretty amazing qualities. I was also happy to see House explore Tricia more in this installment. In Set, she comes across as this loud, busybody of a friend when she actually has so much more depth. The emotional connection between the characters was also pretty amazing even during their more intimate moments. And oh my goodness are those moments AMAZING.
What Didn't Work: I'm not a huge fan of cheating in my books. Tricia has a complicated relationship with her partner before she meets Jah, but part of me wishes that she would have just left instead of letting their affair carry on for so long. Granted the interconnectedness of the characters made for some great drama; however, there was space for their affair to be shorter. I also don't think that the flashbacks were written in a way that meshed well with the more current parts of the storyline. There were also too many flashbacks and I must admit there were times when I got just a little confused.
Overall, this was a solid installment in the series. I can see why there are so many conflicting thoughts and opinions about this one, but I definitely can't wait to get to the last one!
This one was a bit darker than the first one. In this installment, we meet Jah and Tricia. Jah is a bit rough around the edges, a little crazy. He and Tricia's relationship didn't start in what you would call the traditional way. But they had a connection that was deeper than sex. Though a novella, Jah and Tricia kinda took me what seems like the longest roller-coaster. Overall, this was a very enjoyable read.
This story focuses on the youngest brother, Jah and the catalyst to his healing that comes in the form of a loud-mouthed 42 years old named Tricia. Again, this story is heavy on the erotica. I mean the sex is what leads to his healing. How powerful is her yoni? lol Sorry, I couldn't help it. If you look at this story on the surface all you will notice is the sex. What you will be missing is the healing that occurs and the concept of soul ties. The sex will hook you, but the love will make you want to stay. Bring on Shu-Shu!
it wasn't bad but i don't like cheating i don't care if the other person did it too or if the other person is an asshole, for me that's not justification, that's why the 2 stars. but if you don't mind that, the steam is good
Jah, the youngest of the Mitchell’s. Jah & Tricia I enjoyed this one.Short and spicy, Tricia was with her ex for 7 years and he mistreated her. Jah was ready to cherish her❤️ I love Jah for her, the gentle giant! 🥰
This was a good way to start my morning. It made my drive quick and fun. I listened to this on audio and I am always going to be here for anything voiced by Jakobi Diem. They way I hollered when I knew what was coming between Jah and Sharp. These damn Mitchell boys is something else.
“ Jah” is the second book in the "Them Boys” novella series by Alexandria House. I won’t draw this review out lol. This was a fast-paced book with lots of steamy scenes and a twist that I didn’t see coming. I think Jah just might be my favorite brother so far ( sorry Set lol). Looking forward to reading the third installment. Hope I don’t have to wait too long!
Jah knew what and who he wanted, and he got it. I was sold on Jah in Set’s book when he knocked Kareema’s baby daddy in the face. Jah and Tricia’s relationship started with a little sneaking vibe, but it evolved into much more. In book 1, I was already thinking “Oh, they are about to get it”. The way Ms. Alexandria described these Mitchell men, and the way I envision them, oh you want me to take you home? Oh, I wanna bone! Tricia was definitely a woman in a screwed up situation with a man that was taking advantage of her. Saul was a sorry man, he had no shame in doing what he did. A quick, nice read.
The story was short so the development wasn’t as in depth as I prefer. I didn’t really like Trish but I liked that she finally got with Jah, a man who really cares for her. It gave her the courage to leave a relationship that wasn’t healthy. It just wasn’t long enough for me to connect with the characters
2.5. It was better than the first installment but for most of the book the main couple was an affair and I thought she should have left her "boyfriend" sonner than she did. I did not like the revelation at the end. Again the male was way too possessive for my taste but I know that people like that exist so...
Jah and Trish turned a fling into a forever love. Jah said call you moving in with me. 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5/🔥🔥🔥🔥.5 Trisha cheated on her butthole man but let’s be real. He was dogging her out so she found love elsewhere. I don’t condone cheating but… Trisha won in the long run.
What can I say, this author knows what she's doing when she writes a story. Jah was an interesting hero - protective, cared about the heroine, a little thuggish, and had a vulnerable side. Tricia was likeable and perfect for him. I'm glad she got away from her ex.
The story is short but reads like a full-length novel, with plenty of sex and a believable progression of the relationship between the two main characters.
Now I have to go back and read Set, the older brother's story.
This was a short read, but I wasn’t a fan of the cheating aspect-I struggle to like main characters who do this. Had I known, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. There are plenty of spicy scenes if that’s what you enjoy. The story follows Tricia, who feels stuck in a long term relationship that’s lost its spark, and when she runs into Jah in Vegas, old feelings quickly resurface.
I enjoyed the steam plus great characters. The cheating storyline and time jumping wasn’t my favorite. I’m not surprised that it still worked for the most part though because Alexandria’s writing and characters just work for me usually
This was a good quick read. This book had some drama thrown in with it sexiest, and I really appreciate it that! If you know what I mean! It does have some infidelity of sorts, but hear me out when I say that there was some realism tied into their situationship. Personally I loved everything about this story, and the narrator for the male character was perfection! He's quickly becoming my new favorite!
