While this book focuses on early childhood education, educators of any age group can benefit from reading it since we deal with the ramifications of children who are rushed into academic learning too early and forced to leave behind the play that is so important to their development. This book broke my heart often. Teachers know their profession and policy makers do not, and we are being forced to do what we know if not correct for children due to testing mandates. The pendulum needs to swing NOW and we need to trust teachers to be the professionals and experts that they are!
