This is a reasonable overview of a wide variety of services and related subject matter for the exam. That being said, the exercises are pretty isolated and the review questions are targeted to the material in the chapters. As such, it maybe doesn’t prepare you for the exam itself, but rather helps you learn a broad base of AWS material. Which, if you are not currently doing the work, is better than nothing. That said, I suspect the best way to prepare for an exam such as this, is hands on practical experience. If you want a crash course in AWS, this (or whatever edition is most current) is probably fine. If you want to prepare for this exam though, you would be better served by working in AWS for at least a year and paying for the practice exams which more closely approximate the questions of the test.
Coverage is somewhat complete, but too much of the content and tests focus on mathematical trivia, like how many minutes of downtime per month corresponds to 99.99% uptime. This focus is a bit misleading. Almost none of these mathematical themes appear on the exams and, after all, this is not a book about AWS, but about passing the exam.
This is my second book from these authors for exam preparation. Like the one before it is really well written, contains lots of examples and hands-on and example question at the ends of the chapters.
I haven't used the tests so far, but will do so during my next read.
Second read: I did all of the tests several times now, the chapter questions are good, but the exams contain really difficult questions. Hopefully this isn't how the real questions are.
