The book is a fast-paced introduction to C++. It covers all the basics and in that sense is that the author says it’s for beginners. However, it just teaches you syntax and absolutely nothing of how to use the language for practical purposes and I don’t think beginners are going to appreciate that. On the other hand, seasoned developers that are looking to get a quick introduction to C++ modern syntax and features will find this a book a useful reference.

To start with? A suitable position. However, to learn specific applications in practice, you will need to look for additional books.

This is a well written, concise and simplified introduction to C++. The main title does not do it justice, the subtitle describes the book much better. The book has just enough theory, tons of examples, and plenty of solved exercise to reinforce the learned material. If you do not want to start with a 1000+ pages book on C++, then this is a book for you.
