This book makes a huge contribution to the development of the reality movement. Dr. Lynn Thigpen presents a New paradigm for us to think about as we think about oral cultures. I think that the research in this book is well done and conclusions are very logical based on the evidence in Dr. Thigpen’s case studies. This book does not only give us a different way of thinking about this group of people but it gives us some resources to not only pass along information but to make the kind of connection that develops knowledge in the context of interpersonal relationships.
