This book gives one some bridge basics, but once I got to playing myself reading about playing hands was difficult for me. There are good ideas, but not things I am using with my more experienced partner. My partner is my principal teacher.
What a wonderful book for beginners to learn how to play bridge. All the basics on how to play your hand, building trump cards and how to score. Plus extra plays. So much fun to engage playing the game and learning to play like a pro.
Its well organized and was helpful illustrations to present some of the more complex ideas. It's more explanation than demonstration, but it helped me get my head around the game. Good read.

This is one terrific book for beginners who decide to enter the fun and strategy of becoming a wise Bridge Player. And this is Book 1 in this series! Stay tuned. Very highly recommended.
This is a book designed to help interested people to get to know the game of Bridge. Bridge is a four player card game that has been a favourite among card players for years. I thought this book was great. It is easy to read, flows well and is logically organized. The author does recommend that you do not read the book in one sitting as there is a lot of information. The book goes through the basics of the game and continues with ever increasing strategies that will help you win. This is a game of intuition, knowledge, and strategy. There are many Bridge clubs. as it is a book for beginners, but it also would help with strategy for seasoned players who want to be more competitive. Bridge is a social game and can provide hours of stimulating fun. It is great for the memory and players are always learning new ways to win. Of course you will not always have a good hand and this book goes though how to handle that. I could not possibly list all the areas covered within this, but I think it takes a complex game and breaks it down so it would be fun to learn and play. You may just make some new friends and find a new hobby.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was given an ARC with a request to review this book. I have to be honest—I haven't read the whole thing. It's a lot to digest. However, I read the intro and it is clearly written and I feel confident that by reading the rest of the book, and reviewing it as needed, I can learn to play Bridge.
