Oh dear! This ought to have been great. Exotic setting in Hawaii. Luxurious, sumptuous lifestyle details with private jets, luxury hotels and designer clothes. Beautiful, environmentally friendly, surfer female and gorgeous, alpha, cold billionaire. Alone together touring the islands with growing sexual tension culminating in......
But it took ages to get going and then I started to skim because it was slow and boring for much of the time. There were some lovely segments in it but I was never really engaged in the characters or the story. This was a disappointing read from the normally brilliant writer. Sorry , not for me!
I needed a good cheesy love story. It was long overdue. This quick little read will check all the boxes if you are a romantic at heart.
Max flies in from London to look for his AWOL sister in Hawaii. A sister that he handed a fabulous job of designing a building a new hotel for the family's empire. Max, being the control freak he is, isn't happy with his sister's good friend, Mia, won't tell him where she is. So in his typical professional only work mode, he picks up his sister's project and makes Mia show him the way in the development. Two completely opposite characters roaming the beautiful islands of Hawaii, can you think of anything better?
Thank you Harlequin Presents for sending me this book from the Instagram giveaway, I absolutely loved reading it.
There's fantastic chemistry between Mia and Max from their first encounter, but Max is all about work, and Mia isn't anxious to risk her heart again. Hawaii weaves its magic, the elements and proximity conspire to make sensual encounters inevitable.
This is a conflicted romance Max and Mia have a professional relationship, should they compromise it? Both have to change their outlook on life but are they ready to change enough for a happy ending?
This is a great start to the Secrets of the Stowe family series. It romantic and sensual and has a lovely happy end.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I have to admit that I was one of those who just didn't get into this story. It really dragged in the middle and I just didn't care about the two MC's.
