My Review:
I have stated this numerous times but it is worth repeating, I adore Freya Baker. I’m sad to see this series come to an end as I enjoyed these admirable, hard-working, and uniquely compelling men and women of La Plata County. The intriguing books of this series were all standalone yet seamlessly interconnected. Each was tautly written with topical issues, realistic suspense, and real-world concerns while cast with relatable yet imperfect characters who were doing their best to survive and rise above their untenable situations. The storylines were well-constructed, smartly paced, and cleverly nuanced, and although the subject matter may give some pause, the crimes were not graphically depicted although the plotted heinous behavior toward children in 10-Code was distressing to even contemplate, yet unfortunately occurs all too often.

10-Code Rock Point/La Plata County FBI Book 4 by Freya Barker is a new FBI romantic suspense which returns to Rock Point and is the fourth book in this series. While there is character crossover from the previous books in this series, it can be easily read as a standalone without confusion.
Marya Berger had her dead-beat husband walk out on her and their three boys five years ago. With the help of her mother and working two jobs, she has done her best. Between the boys, her jobs and her past poor dating choices, Marya does not have the time or energy for romance.
FBI agent Dylan Barnes is firmly focused on his career and his son. He is very lucky to have his mother and step-dad close to help with his son when his job interferes. At his son’s soccer game, Dylan is surprised when Marya shows up. He learns her middle son plays on the team and the two boys have a lot in common. This Marya is different than the buttoned up woman he buys coffee from at the book store. She is spirited and sarcastic and he finds he cannot quit thinking about her.
When a young boy the same age as both Marya and Dylan’s sons disappears, and Marya’s ex-husband shows up out of the blue demanding to see the boys, Dylan is torn between his job and his need to protect Marya and her boys.
This is a wonderful romance with two people who truly deserve each other and a HEA. The road had more than enough bumps in it between Marya’s ex-husband, Dylan’s ex-fling and the suspense plot surrounding the boys. The sex scenes are explicit and realistic as they try to just grab whatever time is available as they deal with everything going on in their jobs and lives. Ms. Barker has the characters dealing with what age to get children cell phones, on-line gaming, predator danger and codes for dangerous situations.
This is another home run from this author. Her characters are always flawed in ways everyone can relate to, the romance is hot and the suspense keeps you turning the pages to the end. Excellent book, excellent series and excellent author. I highly recommend you pick up a Freya Barker romantic suspense and get reading!

10-Code is Dylan and Marya's story. Dylan is 38, single dad to his 11 year old boy, Max. Marya is 41, single mom to her 3 boys, Theo-13, Liam-11 and Harry-8.
Dylan is an FBI agent who has always noticed pretty Marya at the local book store/coffee shop. The perfect opportunity to get to know her better shows up when his son Max and her son Liam start soccer together. His first wife left him and Max and never looked back.
Marya's husband bailed on her and the boys 5 years ago when he gets his girlfriend pregnant. He wanted nothing more to do with them since he was starting a new family. That changes when he calls up Marya out of the blue demanding to see his boys after 5 years of no contact.
While Dylan and Marya start off pretty innocently, things take a dark turn when a boy gets abducted. This hits pretty close to home since these two have boys of their own around the same age. Add in a troubling ex popping back into Marya's life, these two have a lot going on while also building a new relationship.
I really love to read about single parents. It always warms my heart to see a blended family who become stronger despite not everyone being blood related. It just shows the capacity we have to love reaches farther than we expect at times.
Dylan was super protective of his family and Marya's. Marya was a harder character to get to know. She's tough cause she has had to be but she has strength where it matters. I very, much enjoyed getting to know these two families and was on the edge of my seat right there with them as they hunted for a predator.
As always, the writing was superb, the characters flawed in all the ways we can relate too, and I loved every minute of it.

10-Code blows me away the combination of suspense and romance blends perfectly in the hand of Miss Barker. I am enjoying every minute of devouring the audiobook.
Maria and Dylan have a explosive chemistry. Dylan who is younger than Maria, certainly an example of perfect alpha male. He never waver from taking leads in critical situation. My heart just melt for him.
Maria is a strong heroine with a vulnerable side when it comes to her 3 boys. 3 boys! I can not imagine how to mange them as single mother. But she is tough cookie.
Overall a very good book.

Wow! This book was simply amazing! Filled with everything you could want in a romantic suspense with the perfect balance between the two. It’s been way too long since I’ve found one that checked all my boxes as this one did!
Marya and Dylan are both single parents. They know each other from common friends but have never really interacted. When one of Marya’s sons joins the same soccer team as Dylan’s, the opportunity finally presents itself and Dylan eagerly takes it. When a young boy is found dead and another goes missing, all the clues lead to something that is too close to home for both of them.
I’m all about the hero but I’ve gotta say that Marya was exceptional! As a more mature heroine she had her head on straight and she was tough in a way that only a mother raising three boys alone can be. Although she had a moment or two of insecurity when it came to Dylan, it never consumed her and she allowed herself to open up to him. When her past comes back to torment her and her children she played it smart and worked through the problem with Dylan rather than trying to handle it all on her own.
Dylan was absolute perfection! He was completely enamored of Marya and the more time he spent with her the harder he fell.
”Okay, you need to stop being perfect. My heart can’t handle it.”
“How’s that?” he asks, clearly amused.
“You’ve already filled it to the brim. It’ll burst.”
“It’ll stretch,” he says, his tone gentle.
My eyes stare unseeing as I focus on the sound of his voice. “What if it can’t?”
“It will. Mine does every time I get to hear your voice.”
As an FBI agent, his instincts are to protect and he protected not only Marya but her boys as well in such a way that I couldn’t help but love him. And when Marya was at the end of her rope, he was there to step in without being overbearing and domineering. I love watching a hero fall in love with the heroine’s children and watching Dylan with the boys was one of the highlights of this story.
The book had so many layers involving the case that Dylan is working on that I was never able to predict where it was going or who the villain was going to be. It deals with a very serious and heavy subject matter but never in a gratuitous manner. There were some intense moments that left me biting my nails but only served to make the rest of the story shine brighter against those flashes of darkness. The ending gives us a wonderful epilogue that had me both tearing up and sighing with happiness which is exactly how I like it.

My new favorite by Freya Barker! Love this book so much. The storyline was amazing, So suspenseful and love Dylan and Marya so much. I confess, I’m not a fan of younger Hero, older heroine, but loved this one so much. They were perfect for each other.
I couldn’t put the book down. Read it in one sitting.

Maya Berger is a 41 year old divorced mother of three boys, bringing them up single-handed after her loser husband left her five years ago and hasn't been in contact since. Taking her middle son Liam to football (soccer) on a Saturday morning she runs into FBI agent Dylan Barnes, a single father, also chaperoning his son to football. Maya feels a strong attraction to the young FBI agent but at eight years her junior and gorgeous to boot he is way out of her league.
Dylan may be eight years younger but he knows what he wants and the funny, feisty, beautiful woman sitting next to him in the football stands, it doesn't hurt that their sons play computer games online in the same group.
After five years of silence Maya's ex-husband starts calling, trying to make contact with his sons and threatening Maya, Dylan is happy to step in. Then Dylan and his team get drawn into investigating a crime which directly affects Maya and her sons.
Love, love, love Freya Barker, read this latest book in less than a day. I have to say I did guess the identity of the 'criminal' but thought something else would have featured in the climax, so not obvious (to me). I guess Freya Barker has sons, the vivid descriptions of living with three sons in the house really resonated and made me laugh. Dylan was just wonderful, the sort of guy every woman needs.
Overall, another great romance featuring 40-ish heroines and heroes with a bit of suspense.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again....Freya Barker is one HECK of a writer!!!! Every single book she writes just confirms, once again, that she's the "bee's knees" when it comes to the kind of romantic suspense that wraps around your heart and soul! 10-Code is another prime example of WHY she's one of my top, go-to unicorn authors!
In 10-Code, the last book in the Rock Point Series, Dylan and Marya discover they have something else in common (besides the chemistry that burns brighter than the Northern Lights!), they both have sons playing soccer on the same team. When a boy on another team mysteriously disappears, FBI Agent Dylan and his team are tasked with finding the boy and his kidnapper....and at the same time, Marya's good-for-nothing-ex suddenly appears out of nowhere and is demanding to see his boys (said ex up and left her 5 years before to raise their 3 boys on her own) This sets off Dylan's Alpha-protectiveness and the suspense just builds from there!
The gut-wrenching twists and turns in this one had me sitting on the edge of my seat, playing detective to figure out who the bad-guy was (boy, was I WRONG!!!), turning the pages as fast as possible to discover the answers to the mystery! The slow-burning love (but burn-down-the-house chemistry) between Dylan and Marya is phenomenal and satisfies my need for the long-awaited HEA
10-Code is yet another example of Ms.Barker's incredible talent as a story teller...one that I can't recommend highly enough! I can't WAIT to see what comes next from one of my all-time fave authors'!

Another hit in this series. Another page turner. Another one that will be remember long with the others in this series.
Dylan and Marya brings me back to the Rock Point series with 10-Code. There was not doubt that I would get a story that would have me tapping the screen for the new page. Barker writes such gripping stories of love, romance, suspense, drama all intense and with more than you see on the surface at the beginning.
Marya brings to the table herself and three boys. Both her and Dylan had exs that did not or could not live up to the commitment of the relationships they had. The suspense and intensity comes with the kidnapping/disappearance of young boy around the same age as both their perspective sons. Things are further added to when an ex decides coming back now makes sense.
I love what Freya Barker brings to the table. Stories rich with the characters, the scope, the details, and the way it was all put together.

Gah!! Where do I start!!!! I’m still processing all the feelings from 10-Code.
Okay, first......If you have not read this series......rectify that now!!!! This is Book 4, it can be read as a stand-alone but I highly encouraged you to start at book 1, Keeping 6.
Freya Barker is one of those authors that always brings her “A” game to her books. 10-Code is no exception, she nailed it!!! I was curious about how the title came about and she answered that question.....right in the book!
Marya and her boys won my heart. We were given a little intro to her in a previous book and oh my....this woman deserves her own story and I am so happy Ms. Barker gave it to her! Dylan and his son were perfect! Both have that need to protect (just like Marya’s boys) and they all wanted to protect Marya.
10-Code hit on a deep subject and the way Ms. Barker handled it was utter perfection. She grabbed me immediately from chapter 1.....I started this book at around 5:00pm on Friday night and I finished it at 8:00am Saturday morning.....yes that is the following day (mind you I did fall asleep for about 5 hrs). That to me is a great book and a fine example of an amazing author; when they can suck you in right from the start.

Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres. And done well it just makes me giddy. The suspense plot must be gripping, interesting, and satisfying AND at the same time... the romance must be believable and hot with a dash of swoon. Right here, people! I adore this series and have gobbled up each book like the tastiest of chocolates. 10-Code features single mom, Marya. She is definitely no damsel in distress. She works hard to raise her sons, but has left little time to form any romantic relationships. And after her abominable first husband....who needs the aggravation? She's a strong woman and has no problem depending only on herself. Nothing beats a hot single dad and Dylan sure fits the bill. I so enjoyed his loving relationship with his son. He is attracted to Marya physically and emotionally and when he decides to pursue her....... look out! Marya has some misgivings since there is an age difference, but that is not the focal point here. He quickly gets her to see that they are suited. And they are. The main plot focuses on serious and urgent issues. I thought I had the villain all figured out and then…… BOOM!!! I was waaaaay off base! And I was tickled to be so surprised. If you love a compelling suspense plot and strong romance then this one is for you. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!

It’s some of the best Contemporary Romantic Suspense out now.
Dylan and Marya are both single parents. Marya has 3 boys (13,11 & 8) and Dylan has an 11 year old son. They both have been hurt by their previous spouses abandonment and are cautious when it comes to introducing their young children to someone new. But when they open their hearts to each other AND the children the love spills over.
10-Code had me absolutely riveted. I stayed up waaaaaay to late reading and up early the next morning to finish. I can not recommend this book (and series) enough. LOVE LOVED LOVED IT.

We Met Dylan way back in Upper Hand in Beth & Clint's book. Dylan has grown up and become an FBI agent working with Damian, Luna & Jasper.
Marya, we met in Kerry & Damian's book, and she has had such a tough run at life and raising her 3 boys on her own.
these two together? AM-AH-ZING!
I have to say I have so many favorites with Freya, but this I think is way up there, what a fabulous mix of suspense, romance and had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

La Plata County FBI – Rock Point Series #4
I eagerly await books by this author because she has never let me down. I love the stories and the characters in them. The books are deep and meaningful with a realness that I like. The characters and their experiences and relationships are believable and draw me in. In this book single parents Marya Berger and Dylan Barnes end up on the same bleacher watching their sons play soccer. Marya has always just been the person Dylan buys coffee from but at the game he sees her in a new light – a rather intriguing light that draws him to her. Their romance is not smooth sailing as they both have exes that cause problems, have job issues to contend with, are busy with their children and are also worried about boys going missing in the area they live.
The interactions between the two are so much fun to watch whether interacting with one another or with their children! Both are there for their children, are wise parents and have trained their boys to be smart and aware with some of that wisdom leaking into the story for readers to apply with any children they might have. My children are grown but I learned a lot about having a simple code for quick phone messages that children can use in a pinch.
I came away from this book thankful that there are people in law enforcement out doing the jobs they do and wondering how they live with memories of some of the cases that they are involved in. I also came away thankful this book came my way because I really enjoyed it!

I absolutely adore Freya Barker’s books – like with every review of her book; I will reiterate that her books are always about a couple who have weathered a few storms in their life; and know, or better yet appreciate the preciousness of love, companion and a solid foundation to any relationship.
Dylan and Marya are both single parents; with Marya being an older woman of the equation. They both know each other peripherally; but get closer to each other with both their boys being in the same soccer team.
Dylan is an FBI agent; a stressful career on top of being a single parent but a strong support system makes sure that his son, Max knows that his Dad loves and adores him, but he also needs to save other people at times. I adored the relationship between Dylan and Max – Dylan is an amazing father who never lets an opportunity go by without letting his son know how much he means to him.
Marya, on the other hand, took on the mantle of being single parent to 3 growing boys; a mantle she has held up amazingly, even though there are times that she feels out of depth with the male gender. She isn’t interested in any romantic relationships; even with a charming, enigmatic younger man; especially when her absent ex is again starting to make an appearance after 5 years of leaving her and her boys alone.
Dylan and Marya are both busy single parents, so neither of them are willing to go beyond friendship; but their connection and chemistry have other plans.
Like always, Freya Barker has done a commendable job of creating a balance between a good, solid romance and a suspense that creates chills down your spine – in a way that you just can’t help reading the book until you reach the end and have to say a bittersweet goodbye to flawed yet some of the most realistic characters that Ms. Barker has ever created.

Another amazing read
10-Code knocked the wind out of me. This story was chaotic, frightening, heart wrenching, and quite important.
Marya Berger is a single mom who is raising three boys ages 8-13. She does the best she can and is lucky to have her mom nearby to give her a much-needed hand. Marya works two jobs and doesn’t have an easy life but truly loves her boys.
Dylan Barnes is an FBI agent who we’ve met in a few of Freya’s other books. He a single dad; his son Max is almost eleven years old and, turns out, he’s also on Marya’s son, Liam’s, soccer team.
The two know each other because she works in Kerry’s bookstore. Kerry’s husband, Damian, is Dylan’s boss.
While watching their boys play soccer, so much is going on: The good stuff? These two are definitely into each other. We also get to meet Dylan’s fabulous mom, Beth, and her husband, Clint. Of course, I couldn’t help but fall in love with those two and how much love they have for Dylan and their grandson, Max.
Now ... the rough part of the story stems right from that same soccer field. It’s frightening how something so sinister, horrifying, and evil is lurking around two boys have been abducted.
There’s a sad but necessary message that shouts loud and clear from pages of 10-Code. I don’t have small children anymore, but those who do should take heed and be vigilant as to what their children are playing on their gaming systems and who they interact with.
This story will leave the reader on the edge of their seat as all the badasses who we love from Freya’s Rock Point series go full out in finding the scum of the earth harming these children. The anxiety and helplessness of everyone is front and center at the very same time Marya and Dylan are forming a brand new ... something!
Freya Barker does it again and never disappoints her readers. The storyline blew me away, but the supporting characters bring so much depth that the pages are bursting as one chapter flows perfectly to the next.

I loved this book so much, I'm not even sure where to start. For me 10-CODE is a bit of a homecoming. Dylan was first introduced in one of my favorite Freya Barker books, Upper Hand. He was a struggling young, single father of a toddler whose mother decided family life wasn't for her. He got tangled up with the wrong crowd but through love of his mother and her new man, Clint, found his way into being recruited by the FBI.
Ten years later, he is working in the Durango FBI field office, laser focused on his son and his job, that is until he keeps bumping into Marya. She struggles with the attraction because of their age difference, but much like his father figure, he goes after what he wants. He shows himself an excellent father to his son, Max, and willing brings Marya's three boys into their life as naturally as if he was their father. When a case strikes too close to home, involving soccer and gaming friends of the boys, all hell breaks loose.
In typical Freya Barker style, there are many layers to her story. Dylan has a past, one he isn't particularly happy to see rear its ugly head. And Marya's ex-husband is a piece of work, more so than he showed in a previous book. Ms Barker showcases the difficulty of family life for single parents, the importance of support of friends and family, and the steamy attraction between Dylan and Marya. The intrigue she weaves throughout is brilliant and when the culprit is revealed, it is truly a shocker. This book flows seamlessly through the detours to the eventual resolution of the case and the relationship.
To me this book comes full circle for Dylan. From his beginnings in the Cedar Tree series to the "least senior" and often overlooked member of the Durango FBI office, to the man whose heart is not only large enough to hold his son but also Marya and her three sons. He has come into his own as not only a man but also as an FBI agent. Another plus for me was getting so catch up with one of my favorite couples: Beth and Clint. I love this book and look forward to the next project Ms. Barker puts forth.

Dylan and Marya both thought they had their lives on the right track, until the people they'd respectively chosen to live it with bailed, leaving them leery of risk and single parents.
Dylan, an FBI agent and dad to his eleven-year-old son, Max, is divorced after his now ex-wife abandoned both him and their son. It is what it is and he got Max out of it, so it was worth it in his opinion.
Marya is working two jobs to provide for herself and her three sons, Theo, age thirteen, Liam, eleven, and Harry, eight, since her now ex-husband not only cheated on her but got the woman pregnant as well.
Dylan has noticed Marya, of course, and while he's interested, he isn't sure she is. Marya can't help but notice Dylan, but she's so busy just trying to survive. Dylan sees his chance when their sons begin playing soccer together, and he isn't going to waste it. However, Marya's life just got even more complicated as her sons' dad suddenly remembers they exist five years after walking out on them. Then danger hits too close to home when a young boy is abducted and Marya's ex creates trouble.
Is the universe trying to tell them something? Are their own sons in danger? What does Marya's ex-husband want? Is he connected to the disappearance or is it just a coincidence? Will they get another chance at finding true love?
One-click now and follow along as two people, both having been burnt by love before, must choose whether what they could have is worth the risk. I like that neither dwelled on their exes in the respect that it was as if there were still feelings on their part, other than disgust. Dylan seemed a bit more open as a character while Marya came off more guarded. I'm not sure if that was intentional because of the situation with which her former husband left, but I wish she would've been more readable. With that being said, this was a pleasant story overall and I'm glad they got the HEA they deserved.

This is Dylan& Marya story and OMG what a story, I often use the term page turner but Freya has created a story that hits you from the start and takes it to a new level ! We met Dylan in the Cedar Tree series he is the son of Beth and father to Max who had got into trouble but managed to turn his life around and is now an FBI agent with Damian Gomez who we met in Keeping 6 when he met his wife Kerry who owns the book store where Marya works.
Marya has had it tough with an abusive ex and for the last five year has been working two jobs so she can support her 3 boys Dylan noticed her at Kerry's book store and liked what he saw but when they meet at the boys soccer game he see's another side of Marya and he likes it a lot .Marya thinks Dylan is hot but out of her league as he is 8 years younger than her ,but at the football matches they start to develop a relationship , her boys play online gaming and so does Max Dylans son so they have that in common as well, just as things start going well for them a young boy from a soccer team who also plays the same online game as the boys who has a striking resemblance to Liam Marya son disappears and eventually is found raped and murdered and it appears that a paedophile is about, and as another child from the soccer scene goes missing with the same colour hair and eyes Dylan and his team at the FBI start to look at the fact that Marya's ex Jeremy turning up demanding to see Liam the middle son is more than a coincidence .
Tensions are running high and time is of the essence to find the missing boy and when an ex of Dylan's arrived to join the La Playa County FBI and is determined to get Dylan back things go from bad to worse..

I feel like I’m always saying this, but I can’t help it. Freya Barker is a masterful story teller. Her books never fail is completely captivating me and with every new release I’m reminded just how incredibly talented she is. 10-Code is yet another book that hooks you practically from page one. Every page you turn there’s more and more pulling you deeper and deeper into Mayra and Dylan’s story until you’re completely oblivious to the world around you. Thrilling suspense, heart melting romance and jaw dropping moments all made better by characters that are amazingly real.
So many things hit close to home for me in this book from the situation with the children to the beautifully real love that exists between Dylan and Mayra. Their relationship is just so natural and sweet you can’t help but fall in love with their love.
As much as I was busy falling for them together I was also loving them as individuals. Raised by a single mother myself I recognized first hand how real all Mayra sacrificed and how hard she worked for her children was. She’s one amazingly strong woman! Same with Dylan. A dedicated father in his own right he really is the perfect other half to her.
10-Code will have you swooning and on the edge of your seat all at once in a way you can’t find in any other book.
So many things hit close to home for me in this book from the situation with the children to the beautifully real love that exists between Dylan and Mayra. I was pulled right into this story. The story has secrets, pain, suspense, heartbreak, and love.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first

This is Marya and Dylan’s story. Marya does not have time for a relationship she also had been so disappointed in the past that she is not even interested. I’m a sucker for single parents, and this novel has easily reached my top spot! We first met Dylan Barnes and his son Max in Upper Hand from the Cedar Trees series. Now thirty-three and an FBI agent, it’s finally time for him to find his happy.
Dylan and Marya have crossed paths before, both in the coffee shop and through mutual friends. They have noticed one another before, however it isn’t until one of Marya’s three sons joins the same soccer team as Max, that they find themselves exchanging more than the regular pleasantries.
The connection between these two is sincere, though Marya tries to fight it for many reasons, specifically their age difference and her bad luck in love. However, it’s the common elements between the two that tip in their favor.
A great balance between suspense and romance. This heartwarming story will stay with you well after the last page.

In true Freya fashion she pulled me in and put me on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, smiled, got scared, got mad and then my heart got so warm.
I absolutely loved Dylan and Marya so much. Ok so this is younger man and older woman and *clears throat* she is 41 ..yeah I am 41 lol. Dylan is only 8 years her junior so no biggie but swoon! He was perfect in so many ways. Marya had a loser ex that left her with 3 boys, so she is a struggling single mom. The chemistry between these two was amazing and the love they both had for their children was so heartwarming.

This is my first book by Freya Barker. My favourite genre,too,
Very well written story with terrific characters .
We have a single dad and single mom both trying to protect their boys.
Marya is a very strong woman she is also not afraid to lean on and work with Dylan when she needs to.
A like that H/h are mature, reverse age gap,too.
Very interesting and enjoyable read.

So good!
This is a great love story. That’s almost second to the issues addressed in this book. Be warned, there are some big issues and may be triggers for some. It is all so well written and dealt with.

This is book 4 (and the final?) in the Rock Point series. While you don’t have to listen to the first three books to enjoy this, I’d recommend it. Especially since Marya has been around since book 1 and Dylan since book 2. Series is definitely best enjoyed in order.

Normally I put these at the end. However, kidnapping, sexual assault, & deaths of minors are pretty major themes throughout the book and will be discussed in my review. Please note that the book gets fairly detailed.
I’ve been looking forward to Marya finding a great man, especially after the events in book 1. Dylan has been a great guy and after his fairly major part in the last book, I was so excited to see him paired with Marya. As a single mom to three boys and single dad to one boy - this is more than a couple, it’s a merging of families. I really like the way Barker wrote these two and their sons.
While the relationship angst is fairly low - these two go through the ringer when a kidnapper and rapist is targeting boys the same age as their own children. Dylan and the rest of the Rock Point FBI are heavily involved in tracking down who is abducting these kids. Add in Marya’s ex suddenly showing up to try to gain custody and a former lover of Dylan’s stirring up trouble - I loved that this couple finds strength in each other and their budding relationship.
There’s a rescue scene mixed with both anticipation and anguish. Lots of unexpected surprises in a huge web of overlapping villains. Of course, there’s an HEA for Dylan, Marya and the boys, plus a lovely epilogue.
Narration:
Again, casting for the couple is terrific. I enjoyed both Tad Branson and Mackenzie Cartwright. There’s lots of characters, especially children, in this one and both did a great job of giving everyone a unique sound. Great listen.

I swore to y'all this wasn't possible. I swore FB would not be able to top HWY 550 or Cabin 12. But she did it. 10-code took my heart out of my chest, squeezed it several times and then finally after teasing me for hour upon hours of reading, put it back in my chest full of so much dang love, it's unreal. So, is 10-code any good, you ask? PUT THIS BOOK ON YOUR KINDLE RIGHT THIS SECOND. Ya, it's that good.
Story Line: Dylan is a junior FBI agent. He's a 30 something single dad and hot as Hades. Marya is an early 40s single mom with 3 boys of her own. Their paths cross when these two find themselves sitting next to one another at a soccer game. Turns out his kid and one of her kids are on the same soccer team. From that point forward, these two and their families lives become incredibly weaved and intertwined whether they're ready for it or not. 10-code is a story that will sit with me for YEARS to come. Not only is the love story absolutely EPIC, but each family's story is heartbreaking, heart pounding and heart stopping. I wasn't kidding when I said my heart felt like it was pulled from my chest. FB has given us a story so intricate and carefully written, I felt like I was right there with Marya and Dylan. Seriously, my daughter plays soccer and I swore she was on the same team as their boys. To say I was invested in their lives would be putting it way too mildly.
Interaction: One of the best qualities to FB characters is that they are not young, naive or unsure of themselves. The quality of conversations between our main characters is as real as it can get. I swear to you, I heard this book on audio in my head. I'm not embellishing the truth here, folks. Dylan and Marya's characters are so well described, you will hear their tones change in your head. You will hear her sigh, his deep smoldering voice over the phone with her and you will even hear their kids laughing and joking around. The single parent trope is definitely one of my favorites of all time. I had a slight hesitance when I read that she was more than 5 years old than him. I don't know why. I'm just used to reading about the male being older, I guess. But let me let you in on a little secret. If I had known the chemistry between Dylan and Marya was going to be this HOT, I wouldn't have blinked twice at the age gap.
Laundry: FB, my husband would like to send you a thank you letter with chocolates or something. Because oh mama, you brought the HEAT. I knew these two would have sparks, don't get me wrong. But holy crap, Dylan may just be the sauciest leading male you have ever written. He made me swoon so hard, made my toes curl and sent zings all over my body. That was probably TMI. But seriously, I may or may not have put this book down for the soul purpose of hunting down my husband. YEAH....
Depth: Y'all know I love the laundry. I do, really I do. But what made me put this book on my top 10 books of all time is the depth. The road Dylan and Marya travel to get to their happily ever after is intense to say the least. Their families go through some crazy twists and turns and yet, somehow, by the grace of God, come away stronger than ever before. Only a literary genius could pull of a story with this many wrenches thrown into the character's paths and make us love it ten times more. I won't say anything more because I refuse to put any spoilers in my reviews. I will say that this is a safe read, but I will just leave it at that. Now, go put this book on your kindle and do yourself a favor. Call off work, take a mom day, do what you need to do to clear your schedule. You're not going to be able to put this one down. Bravo Freya!

Marya is a harried mother of three boys. Their father isn't in the picture (thank God), but that absence has taken its toll on the boys, especially her middle child, Liam. Thank God then that Liam realizes the friend he's been playing Fortnite with is a boy on his soccer team. A boy whose father Marya knows through her boss, and that father happens to be the younger man she's been drooling over for awhile now.
Dylan too is a single parent, and his son is his life. But when his son's online gaming friend turns out to be Liam, whose mother Dylan has noticed but never really talked with beyond the casual, he thanks God for how small the world is. But things aren't going to be that easy when the case he's working hits far too close to home. Will Dylan be able to protect (without overwhelming) Marya and their 4 kids, and solve the case at the same time?
I've really enjoyed the Rock Point series so far, and 10-Code is definitely my favorite, and the best yet. Marya and Dylan have so much chemistry, and I love the way they fall into a relationship naturally and realistically. The suspense, the case Dylan's working on, is the bones of the story, and it gives them even more points of merging their lives, but it doesn't overtake the romantic relationship that is developing. Speaking of the case - it's a heavy one, with a doozy of a subject, so a bit of warning, but it's not too graphic or anything. All in all, 10-Code is fabulous - suspenseful, sexy, emotionally driven with a wonderful cast of primary and secondary characters. I can't wait for what's to come next in the Rock Point world because this one is fabulous!
