…If a kickass middle-aged bookkeeper got sucked into a spy’s life…
Off-duty secret agent Aydan Kelly knows she shouldn’t interfere when her lover finally locates his long-lost sister, but she’s afraid Arnie’s too upset to stay on the right side of the law.
Arnie’s sister has been outed in a social media firestorm, and threats against her escalate to a violent attack. Aydan and Arnie rush to her rescue, only to discover she’s being targeted by a powerful crime lord from her unsavory past. As danger mounts, Aydan realizes Arnie will do anything to save his sister… including murder.
Caught between love and legality, Aydan faces an unthinkable choice: Risk her career and freedom by turning a blind eye to Arnie’s deadly plan, or save the crime lord and condemn Arnie to prison and his sister to death.
By profession, I’m a technical writer, computer geek, and ex-interior designer. I’m good at two out of three of these things. I had the sense to quit the one I sucked at.
To deal with my mid-life crisis, I also write adventure novels featuring a middle-aged female protagonist, Aydan Kelly. And I kickbox.
This seemed more productive than indulging in more typical mid-life crisis activities like getting a divorce, buying a Harley Crossbones, and cruising across the country picking up men in sleazy bars. Especially since it’s winter most of the months of the year here.
It’s much more comfortable to sit at my computer. And hell, Harleys are expensive. Come to think of it, so are beer and gasoline.
Oh, and I still love my husband. There’s that. I’ll stick with the writing.
They're back and I loved it! A Spy for Help is my favorite of the recent books and maybe the best of the series. The hottest unofficial team of spies, including one more than reluctant agent, anyone would ever want to meet. Diane Henders brings us faster action than a James Bond book/movie and as much heart as Debbie Macomber! Hellhound is the center of this one as he not only locates the sister he hasn't seen in thirty years but discovers that she is being harassed and may be in danger. Anyone who has read earlier books knows that once that big tough ugly biker/sniper loves someone he will give his life to protect them. Our hearts go out to John for the horrors of his childhood, but it turns out that the older sister who disappeared years before suffered even more. Although Ayden is on stress leave from her last two jobs and John has retired, they naturally step up when charges to the rescue of his sister. Ayden quickly encounters one of the harassers in a typical Ayden style encounter but it isn't long before the danger escalates beyond what even Hellhound had feared with local thugs and mafia hitmen after first the sister and eventually the whole group.
Caveat: Ayden has a sexual relationship as well as one of the heart with both men who are friends (not at the same time!). While there is a great deal of sexual tension and lots of teasing, there is only one sex scene in the whole book. It is hot rather than graphic. On the other hand, at one point Hellhound wants to irritate Holt and he has a talent for crude when he wants to display it. I think it is hilarious and I don't really go for crude, but that is up to potential readers to decide.
Book Review Basic Details: Book Title: A Spy For Help Subtitle: (Never Say Spy #15) Author: Diane Henders Genre: Spy/Mystery Part of a series? Yes Order in series: 15 Best read after earlier books in series? Possibly as easier when you know the background story. Available: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... Overall score: I scored this book 5/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Short Summary of the book: It’s nearly Christmas and Arnie finally has a lead on his long-lost sister. Aydan has just finished her last mission and is on medical leave until the 4th of January. When Arnie asks her to look after his cat, she decides to come with him instead to support him. However, it wouldn’t be Aydan if danger and a mission were not lurking just behind the corner. What I liked about the book: Just like the other books in this series, it kept me reading on. Difficult to put down. What I didn’t like about the book: There was nothing I didn’t like about the book. My favourite bits in the book: The entire book. My least favourite bits in the book: I enjoyed the entire book. Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author? This is the 15th book in the series. Although they can be read as stand-alones, they’re better read in order. What books could this be compared to and why? This is a series that stands on its own. Recommendation: In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:
Children No Young Adult Possibly Adult Yes
If you like spy novels with humour and romance, this book may be the book for you. I look forward to reading more books by this author. Can’t wait for the next in the series. Book Description by Author: …If a kickass middle-aged bookkeeper got sucked into a spy’s life…

OMG! Another FANTASTIC story by Diane! I love Ayden, Arnie and John. They make a great trio. Ayden is supposed to be on leave after her last ordeal but she cannot help when Arnie says he needs help as he found his sister after 30 years of searching. What ensues is heartbreaking as well as heart-stopping. I am kept on the edge of my seat as we follow Ayden through her fears and trying to overcome them. She always managed to stay just a little bit ahead of her fears. John and Arnie seem to help keep her calm. As we find out about Arnie's sister, we cannot help but feel her pain. In the end, everything seems to work out and Kathy, Arnie's sister, finds the love she has been missing. I am glad that Arnie found his sister at last and is starting to work on a relationship with her. Ayden gets through another intense situation and managed to stay out of jail. She had an unlikely connection with a guy she doesn't really care for but in the end, he helps out and all works out. FANTASTIC job Diane! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait for the next book to come out.
I loved this book. I had such a ha!rd time putting it down and stayed up way to late just to read what was going to happen next. This book takes you for a ride with so many twists and turns you wonder what will happen next. I sure can't wait to read the next book. I am a die hard fan of " The Never Say Spy Series. " Hopefully, it won't be long for the next book to come out. So we can see what happens next with Aydan and the rest of the characters.
I love the series and this does not disaapoint. Each character bond is growing stronger with each book, even the hardas5 seems to show a more relatable side. The action moves and draws you in to where you can't put this book down.....and now...we wait...and hope for soon....
A long wait for such a lame book. The entire book could have been told in two paragraphs. Pretty hilarious that Stemp and his parents were even named. Ms Henders, this was a waste. I guess Spy books bought you a big new house so no need to put any effort into again.
Love the characters and plots. I am a dedicated fan from the first book of the series. Diane Henders keeps you on a knife edge and at the end all you want is more!
Nice to see Ayden back. Good character rapport. Not convinced by story but good tension. We don't get to meet the bad guys. The menace needs ramping up. Still enjoyed the book though.
I love reading the continuing story with these wonderful characters. The humor and building suspense were wonderful. I am totally looking forward to the next book.!!!
This series doesn't disappoint. Its just one great read after another and always a fresh new plot twist. This time Arnie finally gets his turn in the spotlight and it will blow you away.
Loved it! As an Hellhound fan it was great to see so much focus on him. This was one of those books you have to read straight through. It picks up where the last book left off and Diane Henders was still able to give us more character development to help us understand them better and become more entrenched in their lives. It was good to have new characters introduced and see other sides of some of the more well known supporting characters. It doesn't matter whether you are team Hellhound, team John or just plain Team Ayden there is something for everyone. The action and laughs start pretty early in the book and the tears are there too. This story does not disappoint
