Introducing myself

Hello, I’m Amy!

I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and have done for three-quarters of my life. The other quarter was spent in England, where my kids were born. I have three of those, and they’re very cool. I’m a bit demented and thought it would be a good idea to have them a year or so apart. I’m still recovering from that misguided notion, but am convinced that a month in Bora Bora would set me right!

Speaking of travelling, as much as I crave a tropical island escape, you’re far more inclined to find me hankering after snow. We don’t have any of that in Auckland – not a drop! And, although it did snow occasionally in dear old England, I’m still looking for the up-to-your-window sort of snow experience. I come from Viking stock (my grandmother was Swedish), so maybe that’s why I have always craved the cold, white stuff. In fact, my husband and I bonded over our love of scarves.

'Twas love at first discussion about the pleasure of a good scarf!

My reading journey
I was drawn to historical romance as a young reader. I loved anything by the Brontë sisters, but I think Jane Austen was my favourite author at that time. It was a toss-up between Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre for my favourite book as a tween. As I got older and developed a real love of history, I became obsessed with anything do with Vikings. I fell in love with Bernard Cornwell and Robert Lowe, Giles Kristian, too. But there’s always been time to fit in the next Diana Gabaldon. Her Outlander series is probably my favourite series ever (great tv too!). History is my one true love, so some of my favourites lately have been C.J. Sansom’s thrilling Tudor series and Patrick O’Brien 19th century naval adventures.

I always thought I would write the Furyck Saga as a historical fiction series, but I never found a period or place where it felt possible. Ultimately, I realised that actual history was far too limiting, so I stepped away from reality and entered the wonderful world of fantasy, and that’s when the fun started…

It took me a long time to become a writer.

I have ring binders and ring binders of stories, screenplays, tv show concepts, and book ideas that I’ve been creating since I was 10-years-old.
I was always very fast with ideas but seeing them all the way through was a lot harder, and eventually, as I grew up, life and work got in the way.
I would try writing Winter’s Fury off and on, but I never got very far, and dissatisfied, I always gave up, telling myself there simply wasn’t enough
time to fit writing in around three children, two dogs, a graphic design business, etc. etc. But what I quickly discovered is that time is what you make of it.

Inspired by an article I read about James Patterson, who got up early to write his first book and fit it in around his job, I started making writing a
daily discipline; the idea being that, bit by bit, I would eventually create an actual book. At first, it was tough. It felt like I was training for a marathon
and I didn’t even know how to run. But every day it got a little easier and eventually, I started to write more freely, and one day I had enough of a
book to show my husband. At this point it was either, forget it again, or keep going.

He read it and said… keep going. So, I did.

And I haven’t stopped!

I love Jael and Aleksander. I absolutely hate Eadmund, what a poor excuse of a human being. He has hurt so many people all his life. He is a selfish bastard who only feels sorry for himself and never cares for anyone else feelings or pain or about the truth. The author keeps making excuses for him but the reality is that he is just bastard

Better than the last

I found the last one a slog, and when this one started off by adding yet another, villain in, I must admit, I rolled my eyes, but it was actually an enjoyable read. Much more believable with main characters dying in this one. I am glad Edmund is getting, at least a little bit, right.

Beyond my wildest expectations ❤️

The Raven’s Warning is the fifth book in the Furyck Saga and fans of the series are going to love it!!!! These are big books, but I couldn’t put it down and I kept sneaking off to read because I was so worried about Jael, Thorgils, Eadmund, Edela, Biddy, Axl, Fyn, Meena and the rest of this wonderfully written cast that I had to keep hiding away to read a few more chapters!! The way this author tells the story is unusual and the multiple POV story telling with so many characters gives the reader such an intense experience, seeing the drama unfold from every angle is so exciting and the constant twists in the plot had my jaw hanging open more than once. This book is an incredible read and I cannot wait for the next one. 5 stars 😁

This book was a slow read for me. The only reason I'm still reading the series is because I'm hoping there will be some conclusion or final event that will wrap things up. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment?

There really is no need to drag this out so much. Could have been an action packed 2 or 3 book series that was amazing

Worth the wait

Having previously enjoyed every book in this series, I am pleased to report that this book was not an exception.
The Raven's Warning was nicely paced and the scenes changed with the perfect amount of suspense that kept me from wanting to put the book down.
The characters were just as captivating as I remembered. Unfortunately, my memory isn't what it once was and that being said, I should have reread the previous book in the series first. Having a brief description of the minor characters listed would have been beneficial for me. Although, I was able to figure out most of their histories by the authors contextual clues.
I can't wait to let myself be absorbed in the next book!

A terrific read

I can not wait to read the sixth book. These characters have become more than just parts in a story. Their challenges both physical and mental have me engaged and wanting more. The style of going into each characters thoughts has been extremely enjoyable.

I'm not sure when I started this series, but when I did I immediately fell in love and couldn't read them fast enough. Somewhere in the middle however these big books just started to drag on. I'm not a big fan of consistently changing points of view as well. As we get farther and farther into the series there is more and more points of view and constant changing.

This book is better than the last few. despite the myriad of storylines and the ever changing scenes it felt more like the first book. the action was fast paced, there was no large lag in the middle.

I think with some longer and larger series I have trouble keeping connections with some characters. either the author writes them too perfect and they never seem to falter or they are the only who can ever fix things. usually I find that boring after a few books. Or the author takes a few interesting plot points and the characters make decisions that they, for me at least, cant come back from. In the beginning I had a difficult time connecting with Eadmund, and then after decision and decision of his I like him less and less. And I know that for this book and the last few he's been being control but I dont see my feelings turning around.

Jael on the other hand is a completely different story. She's such a well fleshed out character, she's diverse and not perfect. With the way they are both written I hate to say it but I wouldn't be heart broken if Eadmund met his end and she found someone more deserving.

OMG! Forget GOT! This saga will draw you in!

From book one, my heart was snagged by a woman trying to survive in a man’s world. Being a warrior is all she knows and all she has ever wanted. Now, she has to battle for her people, for the people she loves and for doing the right thing even though it tears at her heart. Trying to fulfill a prophecy against enemies from all directions even when all she wants is a simple life with the man she loves.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat! A.E.Rayne has written a story worthy of the big screen. Can’t wait for the next book!

This is a very detailed epic series. Be prepared to read LONG books that have multiple character POV throughout each chapter. That in itself is sometimes difficult to deal with. This particular book had a wash-rinse-repeat feel to it after multiple Draguta / Jael / Meena / Eadmund, etc did the same basic processes over and over trying to get a different outcome. Yet one more definition of insanity. I've become - after 5 books - invested in the characters, however. Final Eadmund is freed from Evaine, but of course not able to return to Jael. Why she is even worried about him still, I just can't figure out. Go back to Alexsander for goodness' sake. This book provided more realistic battle scene results with some main characters not making it. This does impact the story some as it slowly moves forward. I'm ready for a finale now. I can only hope Jael and Eadmund actually get back together before the Epilogue though.

I’ve consistently rated the Furyck Saga a 5, and I’d happily give The Ravens Warning a 10 if I could! These books are incredibly articulated and vivid, teleporting you into their fictional world - the only time I have truly felt this passionate about a storyline is when reading the Game Of Thrones and Harry Potter series.

The Ravens Warning is at the peak of the storyline which involves lots of blood, sweat and tears though not everyone will live to tell their tales, and the ones who do, will forever be traumatised by loss.

Ultimately the fifth instalment of the Furyck Saga focuses on bringing individual background story’s together and overlapping with the foreground main storyline, which sophisticatedly leads us into the sixth instalment.

I can’t wait for the next instalment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, picture this: Even more danger, more politics, more betrayals than any other book in this series (well so far).

The characters shine here. You can feel the weight of choices pressing down, Eadmund is still a sap but I'm interested to see his role in the final book. Jael as always is my favorite by a mile!

The alliances are fragile, loyalties are tested, and the sense of doom grows heavier with every chapter. There’s prophecy, there’s scheming, and there’s that creeping dread that they could have been misinterpreted.

The pacing is tight, the tension constant, and the stakes feel personal as much as epic. A.E. Rayne writes with the kind of clarity that makes even the quiet moments feel dangerous, like the silence before a storm. She really is an underrated, master character writer!

Enchanting!

I have fallen completely in love with this series and the characters in these novels. I read a lot of books, and I do mean a lot! Due to health issues, I have a lot of down time and I have always loved read so now I have time to indulge in that passion. The Furyck Saga is one of those series that gets under your skin. The characters are so real with characteristics that people you know have, or maybe that you have, or more likely that you wish you had. I found myself trying to read this book slower because I didn't want it to end. Of course that never works because with books like this you just keep flipping the pages faster and faster because it is a so good!

A must read series, one of THE BEST epic storylines ever!!

This series, 'The Furyck Saga’ is one of THE best I've ever read. It's filled with some excellent characters and there's a lot of meat on the bones of these books, they're the right length and filled with so many twists & turns that will have you cheering, jeering, and sobbing in equal measure.

The only regret I have is that the books ended at all, but the story is truly epic & surpasses Game of Thrones and rivals Lord of the Ring in content, excitement & characters.

Be prepared to despise and love and lament in equal measure, but gift yourself this 6 book series, read our listened to in order - you'll be so glad you did!!

another great one - tons of developments, new shit happening, new wars/characters, old shit being resolved finally, constant battles and anxieties, etc.
similar to the last book where things are happening and put into motion for the next/last book and the end.
obviously invested in the characters at this point so a lot happened within families and stuff this book. Hasnt been much death of them in the first books, but more surprise deaths in this book which hit harder cause your more invested/love them.
a few things i didnt like and was annoyed with, but that happens in every book - but all the good shit in the book outweighs a few things I didn't agree with!
All in all still loving the series and cant wait to see how it all wraps up!

I haven't enjoyed a book in this series this much since the first one, Winter's Fury!

The entire story arc starts to come together at this point, and we see some truly significant results of decisions made early on in the books. But in particular, Jael's character gets even better for me. She's a warrior queen, but we also see how her sacrificial choices have taken an internal toll on her mind and heart. She's humanized on a whole new level, and she's made it into my top five protagonists of all time with this book—someone to look up to and root for.

Now, to wait a few weeks until the conclusion is released...

All I can say is wow

This series has taken another twist that wasn’t expected, although I can see how it would have been that way in reality. The characters have evolved into such depth that you really feel that they exist. The story line is compelling you to move forward and read the next page and the next. The villains keep coming up with new ideas to wreck havoc on the heroes. And the way the heroes mount the defense in a moment, just awesome. I finished the book knowing that I still have 1 to go and wondering if it will all come together and work out in the end. Oh what a great series!!

Another amazing adventure

It's hard for me to put these Fury cm Saga books down. I continue to be more and more impressed by A.E. Rayne. Much wisdom and life reminders in her works, like this one, which I believe applies to far more than dreamers: But you must clear your mind of panic. Panic is a dreamer’s enemy. Panic tightens our bodies and our minds. It stops us breathing. It stops us dreaming. It creates walls around our thoughts, so the only things that enter our mind are our fears. You must let go of your panic, and the dreams will come. The way to help Eadmund will reveal itself if you can stay calm and believe. Believe that we will find the answer.’

Fantastic read

What can I say, this isn't my usual kind of book but decided to give the saga a try.mi wasn't disappointed. Yes it it about long winded in places BUT this is due to there being so much going on within the characters. I would recommend this saga. Ive been in hospital for a couple of weeks and Jael and Eadamund have both kept me company. Wish there would have been more after the darkness had been destroyed. Would have loved more on Jael and Eadamund especially after he came back. How did he react to the baby? To nearly killing her? These are just a few of the questions I was left with but overall a brilliant saga

Trigger Warning

As much as I like the series minus the unnecessary POVs. Right from book 1 there is a lot of rape and moments of recalling rapes. It only increases as the series progresses. So I just want readers to be aware that multiple people get sexually assaulted multiple times.

The series started going downhill for me. Jael continuously continues to fight for a man that cheats on her to the max. Blame the curse all you want still happens. They're relationship has very little depth so all this fighting for " us ' is just irrelevant. The story still has a great storyline to it with a lot of great action.

Another good read

This another good read from A E Rayne but unfortunately not a great one compared to the other books in this series I felt this one could do with a lot of editing it seemed to get bogged down in the middle of the story with to many characters involved each with their own subplots that I found a bit confusing and rather dull. Despite this I still enjoyed the book which was well written(if not a bit to long) and as ever the main characters are great especially Jael and Draguta and I am looking forward to the final battle between these two great characters in the final instalment in this epic saga.

Fast paced EXCITING FULL OF SUSPENSE

I love A.E Rayne style of writing! She is as amazing as Jael!!
This book 5 was truly unpredictable and so many twists and turns. I waited at least 6 months to get this book after reading the other sagas over winter. It was worth the wait. I am truly thankful that these are books and not a TV series! I could never watch it with all the frightening creatures but I can read it! So if you have a problem with ancient scary creatures this book may not be for you but I have survived reading them without nightmares!
