Abducted by the Alpha

Rate this book
Gray Kincaid, one of the most dangerous wolf-shifters in the world, is finally home. After years spent in the wilds of British Columbia with his four brothers, Gray is looking forward to reclaiming his life as a human. But during his absence, someone has been dipping their hands into his wealth. No, not dipping. Someone’s been outright stealing from him, Gray Kincaid! The sheer audacity has him on a hunt that leads to a small female who, not surprisingly, works for his company. Regardless of how innocent she looks, or claims to be, Gray will have his money back, or he’ll keep the woman in return.

Finally, taking a long-awaited vacation, Sien McMichaels is terrified when she’s abducted by the driver sent to take her to the airport. After a failed escape attempt, she’s dragged to a massive manor and kept in a dungeon, a prisoner of the driver who claims to be Gray Kincaid. The Gray Kincaid of Kincaid Enterprises, the owner of the company where she works. He’s got the wrong woman though because Sien is a simple girl with a simple life. She wouldn’t dream of taking anything that isn’t hers and doesn’t understand when all the signs of theft point to her. She’s determined to prove her innocence to her infuriating captor even though Gray is equally committed to punishing her for crimes she didn’t commit.

*This is book 7 in the Territory series; however, each book focuses on a different couple and can be read as a standalone.

“Sorry to bother you, Ma’am.” The driver’s gruff voice intruded on Sien’s thoughts. “But you wouldn’t happen to have a cell phone I could borrow? I need to call my employer regarding my next pick-up, and I seem to have left my phone at the office. I wouldn’t ask, but it’s imperative that we’re en route, and I don’t have time to make a stop just to call.”

“Oh! Sure.” Sien rummaged around in her purse until she found her little black phone. Sliding across the slick, black leather seat until she was close enough to hand the driver her phone, Sien held it up near his shoulder. “Here ya go.”

With a clipped, “Thank you,” he took the phone.

“Not a problem.” She slid back to her original position to give the driver a little privacy. It wasn’t far enough because the driver erected the tinted privacy glass that separated him from his passenger.

“O-kay,” she whispered, slightly insulted.

Trying to ignore the rude driver, she watched the beautiful scenery out her window. A hardcore type ‘A’ personality, Sien mentally sorted through her suitcase to ensure she hadn’t forgotten anything. It was a good distraction that she knew would help pass the time more quickly.

Toothbrush, hairbrush, hairspray, shampoo, conditioner.

Her cataloging was cut short when she saw the off-ramp to the Dulles International Airport go whizzing past. Head whipping around to look behind them, she frowned at the fading off-ramp. “Um, excuse me, driver? I think you missed our turn.”

When the driver didn’t respond, Sien slid back around to the privacy glass and gently knocked, “Sir! We missed our turn.”
Her temper began to flare when the driver continued to ignore her. Knocking harder on the glass, Sien raised her voice, “I’m sorry to interrupt your call, but we’ve missed our turn. I’m going to Dulles airport!”

When there was still no response, she shouted, “Hello! Can you hear me?”

She waited several heartbeats for a response. When none was forthcoming, her anger turned into panic as she checked her watch.

She’d scheduled everything perfectly so that she’d get to the airport with just enough time to board. Tanner was going to meet her there, and they’d depart directly.

Frustrated, Sien began pounding on the glass with her palm, “Excuse me! Driver! You missed the turn, and I’m going to be late for my flight!” She knew he had to hear her pounding, but when he still didn’t respond, her worry at being late turned into something else.

My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)

Please leave feedback….well, only if it’s positive. “Keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit!  (Erykah Badu lyrics!)

The premise is that the alpha believes the main character, the heroine, is a thief. He is cruel and awful to the heroine and it is not sexy, it comes off as mean and abusive.
The heroine’s acceptance of his abuse was realistic to a point. He trapped her etc. & she makes best of a crap situation. The alpha has dozens of chances to do the right thing, those moment of choice where characters can come together or fall apart, and the guy consistently does the cowardly, manipulative, cruel, mean thing. There were no redeeming aspects to the behavior- no reasons like- it’s the alpha’s time of the month so he’s cranky and bitey right now... No-he’s just a dick- because he’s a dick.
Honestly a happy ending to me would have had her fleeing to another sunny country and making a new life for herself and some new guy who treats her well. Forget the alpha jerk!
There was nothing romantic about it, the relationship, the supposed hero or the heroine’s agony going through the emotional and physical assault the hero puts her through. It was pretty awful, like watching a car crash again and again. I mean, it gets your attention but it’s painful to watch with no redeeming qualities to the time spent except jangled nerves and an upset stomach. I mean, yes alphas are tough and violent, but would a good man drag an employee of his firm through the woods or tie their wrists so hard they bleed? Would they dump her in a dungeon with a broken leg? Really? Threaten her and terrorize her and blackmail her? I like stuff like Reiss and Cain snd Silverwood so I like the bedeviled alphas and tortured souls and mean but delicious bad guys. This guy just came off like a whiny navel-gazing business type guy who doesn’t have things go his way, so he bullies and abuses a convenient scape-girl employee.
His wolf marks her, a point in many books where the alpha rethinks things, and he comes up with “she’s bought and paid for.” (Call back to he thinks she stole money from him so she now owes him sex.) Real nice guy, right? Treats his “one”, his mate, like a prostitute? Great stuff to build a life and love on.
I got through the book as a loyal reader of her books, but man it was tough. His apology at the end was fast, trite and had no stakes in it so I had no faith that tomorrow the alpha won’t be abusing the heroine emotionally again.
I am usually a fan of this author’s work. Maybe leave the dubcon to the omegaverse and stick to the (somewhat) honorable & crafty shifters that she has done so well with in the past?

Have a little faith
This, this right here is why this author continues to be one of my favorite authors. She builds her characters into bigger than life personalities and then creates a storyline that just grabs your attention and won’t release you. I love that we got to see some of our favorite previous characters and meet new ones. I would have loved to meet Sien’s best friend, but I feel like she might be for a later book. The story is full of emotions and energy, it just flowed together perfectly until I found myself crying and celebrating the HEA. I hope that the author intends on bringing us more books in this series because I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Horrible read

Honestly I’m sick of books where woman have no respect or spine. They dragged her through hell. I hated this book it wasn’t worth a dime. It wasn’t even like the hero was a good person, he was sick and cruel and toxic. What kind of sick fantasy is this? I love dark books but I also love realistic characters. This book sucked.

This book was great.. my only problem was I didn't know what to do... I wanted to sit and read the whole thing but on the other hand I didn't want it to end and wanted to pace myself... I absolutely loved this book and I love this series... this is a page turner and I want more... I'm so excited for this series to continue

one I missed

Not sure how I missed this book but I did, so glad I’m on a series re-read. As normal this book was on a rollercoaster ride right from the start and continued until the end . Exceptional character where the alpha is so anti hero to start and so not typical of what you expect that it holds your interest. The female starts so timid but ends up so much stronger. Great storyline and not what I expected but now I need to find out if I missed the book about Tate. I think anyone would enjoy this book who loves there PRN and a good romance

Spoilers

I had mixed feelings about this one. I did not like the hero, Gray, at all. And there were times I was disappointed in the heroine, Sien. The part in the book where she got down on her knees infuriated me. But at the same time I could not stop reading the book. I stayed up till 5 am to finish it. Well, to each his own. If you like an extremely dominant alpha who takes what he feels he is owed, then you will like this book.

Pushover female lead.

So disappointed. Kidnapped, broken, caged, physically and mentally abused, and all it takes is ‘I trust you, I love you’ and she’s all happy families. I had not read other books by this author, will not be doing so again, from this series, at least. Oh, and attempted rape by the male characters supposed friend, too. And when he threatened to bring charges against her, why didn’t she say ‘Do it!’? See how that evidence stands up in court. So frustrating.

Not enthuse by this book

I have to say I wasn't to impressed with this book. I have always been a big fan of Susan Bliler. I have read nearly every book so I was surprised by this book. Afraid I'm not a fan of total control by the male characters. I'm not giving up reading her books but I'm not a fan of this one.

Good.

Well I really liked Sian. She was smart, resourceful, and really nice. Gray was a jerk. He was so arrogant about Bek g right that h did not stop to think. If he had he would have noticed how she treated others. He was a cool to great her so bad. I understand he thinks everyone only wants him for his money but he should have had her background checked first.

Good read. Liked that the h had backbone and ended up calling the H bluff. Did not like how the author forgot the h backstory halfway through the book. Was she raised by an abusive, alcoholic mother with her brother or was she an only child with a perfect childhood until her parents died when she was an adult? The answer would greatly influence how I view Sien.

Love a good love story

I saw no typos or editing problems as 2 other reviewing people wrote about. It was Susan's usual good writing and a good shifter love story. And as usual, I'm looking forward to her next book. Great read.

Great book

I really enjoyed the premises of this book. I also like the heroine and how she was not a doormat (most of the time) . This is the first book that I have read from this series ( I know it’s not the first book) I will definitely go back to read the rest of the series.
