This was book 4 in the "Red Sky, Texas" series. Alpha Baker has worked on The Tumbleweed Ranch much of his life. He was crushed when Jesse left and froze him out of his life completely. He’s done his best to move on, but no one touches his heart the way Jesse did. When Jesse returns it turns Baker's world upside down. Jesse wants to be with Baker again but he knows that he has to work to get him to forgive him. I really liked this book Jesse ran from his feelings for Baker because of past childhood trauma although he and Baker grew up together but Jesse was to ashamed to tell him what was going in his home life. I really both of these characters and it was sad when Jesse finally opened up about his past. When Jesse gets sick the ladies who run the ranch know what it is. When Tex and Baker begin interviewing guys to work on the ranch one of them Ben seems off to them and they find they find out why when he attacks Jesse. This was a good read this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Cory and Kylo

Book four in the series brings Jesse and Baker's story. The author does a great job developing their story and pulls you in with their sweet love story. His scenes are well described in vivid detail and the story flows quickly and smoothly.

You can't help but feel the pain and love for Jesse and Baker. Always rooting for that happy ending!

Jesse endured so much pain at home. Losing both parents - his mother as a young omega, and his father when he became a young adult - and suffering untold abuse at the hand of another, it was a wonder how he survived at all had it not been for the friendship and comfort of Baker. So sad to see how he blamed himself for a life altering moment. As if being assaulted by an angry and powerful alpha was not enough, the man came after him after his father died. Fearing his safety, he knew something had to change and fast. Not feeling worthy of love and fear of ridicule, he he went from wanting to give Baker everything to disappearing for two years...

Baker spent the two years of Jesse's disappearance wondering what he did wrong. What happened to cause the love of his life to just fall off the face of the earth. Did their love, commitment and pending claiming mean nothing to him? Jesse went from 'forever' to 'I have to leave you.' Baker never had a chance to mourn the loss in they way he wished to. When he finally picked up the small pieces of his life and tried to move on, guess who returns...

Jesse returned home and back to the man he could never get over. Never expecting a warm and fuzzy reception, he received more of an iceberg standing strong in the summer sun. Not one to give up, he tried everything he could with his alpha. Baker's feelings were more than conflicted. One one hand, embracing him felt normal, on the other hand keeping him at arm's length was safer. He knew the only way to break down Baker's walls was to tell him the truth about what happened to the only omega he ever loved.

An alpha and an omega trying to find their way back to one another in such a heartwarming, tear-jerking way is all the feels you need in book four of the series. Be ready for a few moments of deliberately making one jealous, some chuckles, professed and well earned love, and finally a nasty surprise that rallied everyone in the best way imaginable.

Let us keep our fingers crossed for a book between Kylo (omega) and Cory (alpha). Such as shame to let that intensely budding potential go to waste.

Baker thought that Jesse and him were taking the next step; he was ready to claim his Omega. But, the day after they displayed their affections Jesse told Baker he was leaving. Baker was heartbroken and confused, wondering what he could have done to have his Omega leave him. Two years later Jesse returns to the ranch seeking out Baker, his true love. He tells Baker he never stopped loving him but his past was less then desirable and he didn't want Baker to look at him differently. Except Baker isn't talking to him, much less listening to him...and Jesse can barely get Baker alone in the same room. It's going to take a lot for Jesse to cut down Baker's defenses and give them one more chance.

SPOILERS
This is the second book in this series and I think I liked this one even better then the first. I loved the push and pull of the relationship between Baker and Jesse. I also really liked the addition of Cory and the sparing between Cory and Baker. It was nice to see Baker jealous of Cory and Jesse when he repeatedly told Jesse there was never going to be anything between them. However you could just tell how much Baker still cared for Jesse and I loved watching him try to deny his feelings over and over to himself. Also, I am super excited for Cory and Kylo's book - I think? I want to know the true reason why Kylo applied to work there and what is with his dislike for Cory, when Cory is such a sweetheart. I loved how in this novel the author plotted these little seeds of questions to set up what I'm hoping is the next book! I know for sure I will definitely be continuing with this series in the future!

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Never give up, never surrender! Baker, Alpha worked for Sawyer, who inherited the ranch from Joe and Tex/Alpha, loved Jesse. Jesse, Omega was Baker's best friend and lover also worked on the ranch and loved Baker. Just as they were getting comfortable exploring their love for each other, Jesse suddenly left with no explanation. Baker was devestated and sunk into depression. It has been two years and he is just climbing back out. Jesse, returned and wanted to restart their relationship. Baker in absolute self protection mode, refused to let Jesse in. Baker's animosity was affecting the ranch hands. Jesse was struggling to give explanations. Jesse enlisted another Alpha, Cody to help with his case. Do we find out why Jesse gave up and ran? Does Baker lower his defenses and give Jesse a chance? Can they move forward? Good story! Quite a few surprising, devestating heartbreaking twists. Darn near bit my lip hoping for the best, hoping there was no worse. Great series! I want longer stories! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Absolutely love it!

I'm loving this series. Lost Boy took me through so many emotions. Jesse the lost omega finding his way back home to his alpha he left Baker. The former friends/lovers trying to get over the old hurt and pain of betrayal. It was emotional to read but it was so good to see them working through their issues. I had a couple of laugh out loud times that broke up the heavy content at times but that made the story great. The steamy scenes between Baker and Jesse was so HOT, there wasn't any doubt that these two were meant to be. And as always there was a lovely ginger bundle of joy at the end. That put a smile on my face. A great read and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. 5 STARS!!!

Lost Boy is Book 4 in the Red Sky, Texas series. This is a beautifully written, mpreg, second chance, story about Jesse and Baker. They were childhood friends and had worked together on the ranch before Jesse up and left. He's back now working on the ranch and wants his alpha back. Though Baker didn't understand why Jesse left in the first place he became protective of Jesse, which is kind of what Jesse needed. I love Jesse and Baker together and I'm glad they got their second chance.
This is a very enjoyable story and a wonderful addition to the series. I recommend this book and look forward to the next one.

Baker and Jesse's story was a wonderful addition to the Red Sky, Texas series. Baker has been the sweet, loveable guy in the background. I didn't recognize the angry, spiteful man that he became with the appearance of Jesse. His hurt is justified but he crosses the line with his verbal tirades. Jesses tried everything including groveling, pleading, and throwing himself at Baker in an effort to reclaim what they once had. Some of his attempts were cringe-worthy. He finally corners Baker so he can explain why he ran out on him two years prior. It was a heartbreaking revelation. It takes a bit longer for Baker to come around, but Jesse's forgiveness is swift. I loved seeing Baker change back to a decent human being and a doting mate.

Jesse returns to The Tumbleweed Ranch but Baker acts like he hates him.
Two years ago Omega Jesse had upped and left The Tumbleweed Ranch with no explanation but now he is back. Alpha Baker loved Jesse and was heartbroken when he left and has changed from a happy go lucky person to a grumpy one that finds it hard to trust. Jesse had missed Baker so much that he had to return but now finds that he seems to hate him. He knows his happiness rests on changing Baker's mind so they can make a future together but Baker is a stubborn as a mule.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and the continuing story of The Tumbleweed Ranch, where Baker is reunited with Jesse who was his soulmate, but disappeared suddenly two years ago and now wants to get back together with him. They have a lot of things that they have to work through especially trust, But their love can’t be denied and no matter how much Baker fights his feelings, Jesse will always have his heart. They have their little trials before finally they both find contentment and have their HEA and a family of their own.

Heart jerking

Honestly I read the first few books I previously read sawyers and Tex book and I loved it. This time if you’ve read the previous book you’ll get an insight into baker. Baker and Jesse have a past together and your just wondering why Jesse had left baker.
I honestly cried a little reading this book it was really devastating what happened to Jesse that baker never knew about. The hardest part was baker learning to forgive Jesse for leaving 2 years ago. Through it all overcoming ones fear and learning to love and trust one another again was hard but I liked it.

Second chance for Baker

I'm not super fond of second chance romance. I also really liked Baker from the last book, so there was no way I wasn't reading his story.

Jesse went about getting him back wrong. I didn't end up liking him. Being hurt in the past doesn't make a character automatically sympathetic.

The plot was pretty good, with Baker getting jealous, but also feeling hurt and the conflict at the end worked well.

Great read

This series just gets better with each book. Both MC's were characters that you could relate to and empathise with. Happy that the villain of the piece suffered a little before justice was meted out!

I can't wait for the next one.

Angsty & Great!

This book was more intense with deeper issues than others in the series. (TW sexual assault) It hit me in the feels - I laughed and cried and went “awww.” Really great one. Maybe my favorite of the series so far.

Great series❤️

I was looking forward to Jesse and Baker’s story and I was not disappointed! I was so mad at Baker for half the book but he redeemed himself. It was a little rough reading what Jesse went through but it added depth. I can’t wait for Cory and Kylo’s story!

I love this author. This was—as usual—an incredibly well-written, slow-burnish romance with great character development, realistic and well-paced. Definitely recommend you pick up anything of this author’s if omegaverse is your cup of tea💛

This title is pure angst. Jesse and Baker are great guys. As long as you remember they are both young, the plot totally works. This one has a surprise I did not see coming and my blood pressure went up. Lol
I enjoyed the love story and felt totally satisfied at the end.

I totally enjoyed all the angsty feels and dramatics, even though I really disliked Jesse for a large part of the book. Baker is an alpha who has spent the past two years trying to get over the love of his life suddenly leaving him. Jesse up and left out of the blue and Baker heard nothing from him for two years, but now Jesse is back and Baker is having a hard time dealing. I got attached to Baker pretty quickly and was very firmly on his side with regards to Jesse’s shenanigans. Even though both men were pretty mean to each other at first, I really don’t think Jesse came out looking good because it really felt to me like he was dismissing Baker’s feelings about everything that happened. Jesse came back to the ranch after two years of radio silence and it really seemed like he just expected everything to go back to the way they were, seemingly ignoring Baker’s trauma about it all. They do eventually work things out, and Jesse did go through something horrific in the past and I certainly don’t blame him for wanting to leave (although I don’t like the way he handled that), but it’s a bit of a hard go and it took a while for me to warm up to Jesse. Especially when it felt like he was just playing games with Baker’s emotions. The part of the book after they finally decide to give themselves a second chance was completely different to the first half, with Jesse and Baker totally in love and openly devoted to each other. (And there’s no third-act breakup, which was a goddamn relief after everything else, honestly.) It’s honestly sweet, but it’s a bit of a whiplash from the earlier tone. Either way, I did really enjoy reading it. I also liked the atmosphere at the ranch where Jesse and Baker work, and I really loved the side characters and how they played off the main characters. Sawyer and Tex were the leads in the previous book, and now I want to go back and read their story because they were fun in this one. And there’s also set up for the next book in the series with Cory and Kylo, which has me intrigued. The writing was good, the characters were good (if not a bit aggravating at times), and the emotions were plentiful. A good read. (Trigger warning for mentions of miscarriage, mentions of sexual abuse/assault, and violence against a pregnant person)
