And what it will cost her.
There are new students at Dragondale – and they’re not even druids. Refugees from a cursed academy, the newcomers have their work cut out fitting in. Lyssa’s attempts to reach out to them fall flat, and most of the other students aren’t even trying. Are old prejudices rising to the surface, or are the students right not to trust the newcomers?
The pressure is piling up on Lyssa and her friends to make the decisions that will shape their future. But one wrong choice, and there may not be a future left to worry about.

This is the third book of the Druid Academy series and continues to follow Lyssa and her friends as they start the third and final year of their studies as Druids. Lyssa gained her third elemental power late last year, the only other druid with control over three is her father Raphael, who tried to kill her for a second time last year! She is eager to see her hippogryff Stormclaw after the long summer break and her favourite teacher, Professor Alden. She is asked to captain the Fire Itealta, as the previous captain had graduated and is now going to be responsible for choosing and training new recruits for the team. On top of that, her best friends Sam, Kelsey and Leo are asking her what subjects she is planning to take this year. She hasn’t thought about it at all!
The end of the third year will see them sent out into the world and they need to decide what career she may want to follow. At the moment she is clueless. It seems all her friends have already chosen their subjects and their career paths. The main topic of importance to everyone else, is the upcoming Four Nations Cup, where only two champions from each academy go up against the best from the other academies in the other nations of the UK. Eight champions will fight for the ultimate kudos and pride for their academy and it will also lead to some fantastic job offers and pay deals. Everyone is excited, that is all but Lyssa. She already has too much to think about and third year is going to be that much harder, with loads more studying required and a huge work load.
Her friends encourage her to sign up for the challenge and amidst her reluctance, she joins up, thinking she will have no chance of getting through anyway. The academy has a small influx of students from a non-druid academy that has had to close suddenly. It turns out their academy has been cursed and the very living centre of their academy has been affected. No-one knows why this is happening. Lyssa tries to be friendly towards three of the group of students, but only one, Kayden, even bothers to talk to them. The other two are very quiet and somewhat aloof. Lyssa and her friends have to decide which career talks to attend and Lyssa is forced to sign up by Sam and the request of one of her professors, a former enforcer, Professor Dougan. He arranges an unexpected trip to the magical prison, Daoradh, along with the three extra students, to ensure they don’t feel unwanted or not trusted.
There has been many wars and differences between all the magical communities and the druids seem to be the ones that have placed themselves on to the top of heap, thinking themselves better than shifters and other supernatural beings out there! This is causing problems around the world and especially in the UK. Lyssa, coming from a non-magical life, has no preconceived ideas about other magic users and this has enabled her to stand up for Kelsey, a half breed druid/shifter, who is not accepted by either group. Lyssa knows how these three students feel and tries to make up for some of the hatred sent to them by others in the academy, but that’s not exactly easy, when they don’t want to accept any friendship!
A final year with more than just exams to worry about as more danger is placed in their way and an epic battle for the very academy they all call home, is coming. Her evil dad will no doubt be in the midst of all problems she comes across, as old prejudices rise to the surface and newcomers aren’t welcome. How much trust and effort Lyssa should put into trying to make or keep friends, is going to be a turning point for her. An injury to an animal she holds dear and to herself, are from a long held antagonistic foe, but go far beyond what was expected. Can they all pull together, when so many factions are split apart, to stop a war that could topple everything they ever knew? This could be the end of Lyssa, Dragondale and all she holds dear, as a fated battle nears. Lots of great action in this book of the series, with the Itealta competitions, the Four Nations Cup challenge seeking out the academy champions, cursed academies and the usual backstabbing actions of those close to the main characters as well as their enemies. Who to trust and who you can count on, are going to be difficult choices for all. A fantastic final year and a great read. I’ve loved every book, but this one surpasses all of the rest. I can’t wait to see if there will be more to come as they all go out into the wide magical world around them and start jobs. I hope so! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This is the third and final story in the Druid Academy series from Ms. Churton. Lyssa is shopping for school supplies with her best friends Kelsey and Sam. She’s trying to ignore and avoid answering the age-old question of ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ Her friends also start filling her in on the latest druid gossip - the Four Nations Cup! Apparently this is when the four druid academies in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales have two students each compete to win a cup. Sound familiar? Even Ms. Churton winks at how intimate this is to that other wizard story.
Once they are all back at the Academy, Headmaster Talendale fills them all in about it during his usual welcome back speech. He also shocks them by telling them that the school will have some special guests this year. The Braeseth Academy of Unclassified Magic had to shut down, so each druid academy is taking some of their students in. That’s right, the new students aren’t druids! So, we have new students, a huge competition and Lyssa is Captain of the Fire Itealta team! So she’s basically booked for the year. We find out that Braeseth had to shut down because they were cursed. … Yes, the Academy was cursed, so their students had to spread out to the druid academies.
I have read and reviewed all the books in this series now. I said the first one was a fun read and the second was a full on Primeval Whirl. I can’t even come up with an adequate description for this one! Holy cow! Except for the first chapter where Ms. Churton is introducing this year’s story, Lyssa doesn’t even stop to catch her breath the entire book. I loved that we got to know Ava in this one and that we see a lot of Stormclaw too. I enjoyed the students from Braeseth and definitely the ones from the other druid academies too. Can I just say the Scottish school, underneath the loch? How cool is that? This is a phenomenal series! I’m almost disappointed that there won’t be any more stories in it, but Ms. Churton assures us at the end that we should look forward to more Lyssa stories in her job/career after school ends. YAY!
ANOTHER INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE!!! Droopy dragons! Churton lays this baby out in stunning wonder, taking one on the chin and bouncing forward full throttle delivering this chart topping bombshell, wrapping this incredible dynamo up sleek, shiny and tight. Bearing the burdens and taking down foes with this action packed, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block busting whirlwind, ratcheting up the exuberance and intensity, blasting this baby to a whole new level. Shenanigans, chaos and mayhem rule the roost displaying the drama, anxiety, intrigue, animosity, danger, mounting suspense and intense situations along with a boatload of underlying threats, you have one jaw dropping adventure. Blurring boundaries and leaping lines, exposing the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, booting this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, knocking it into overdrive, catapulting it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing realization. Vexing mishaps and unsettling happenstance, swirl with the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, spinning alongside the heart dropping twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. The characters are complex and genuine with traits and qualities that add depth and realism, blend and flow transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Churlton, thanks for sharing this lil' fella with us.
When academies start to die… …The future of druid-kind hangs in the balance. Is Dragondale next? The students have something else on their mind. This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.

Book 3 happens to be the last book in the Druid Academy Series but there's a note by the author that we may see more of Lyssa and her adventures.
Starting right where book 2 ended, this book was a series of spins & twists coming so close to each other that you will feel as if you're on a never ending ride of magic, intrigue, mystery and grit.
Though I'm sad that this series has come to an end, I'm looking forward for what might be coming up later in the year.

I will say the book has a lot of action, and love the main characters in the series, but some parts on the series as a whole, felt like the characters where teenagers, instead of adults. The scenes where the academy sports was depicted with a flying mystical creature and ball, has so much resemblance to the sports in another famous series, but off course with a different kink to it. That is the reason I give it a three star rate.
Once again, Lyssa, her friends and classmates are off on another series of adventures only now it’s her final year at academy. There’s the Itealta team, an inter academy tournament and just passing her classes. And she may have more family than she thought. Now add in a curse affecting another academy and new, different students and much mayhem will result. It’s a good final book and wraps most things up nicely.
This last book of the first saga was just so great ! I even had tears at the end, and I couldn't have thought better to end this saga. I really like the end of it, even if I wish all of them survived, C.S. Churton made it realistic to kill some of the characters.
I don't if I'm gonna read the next chapter of Lyssa's life, but I would be sure happy to end with her story where I finished at the 3rd and last year the Dragondale academy. Best of luck to this character !
Primal Magic (Druid Academy 3) by C. S. Churton is an amazing story to read. This is book number three in this amazing series that I have loved reading since book number one. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about magic and fantasy.

I highly recommend this fantastic and thrilling series to all readers of fantasy, supernatural, and mystery. These books are amazing filled with superb characters, and a menagerie of creatures that despite their personal flaws overcome great obstacles in their academic lives, and their world. Enjoy!
The Druid Academy series is a solid and entertaining magic academy story. Primal Magic does a good job finishing everything up. If you're a fan of the genre, and are looking for something without the romantic subplots, I recommend the series. It doesn't break new ground but it's fun.
This is the third book in the trilogy and amazing. Lots of surprises in store for you. C. S. Churton takes the reader on a journey to other schools for a National Championship Cup contest. Some of the schools are being cursed. Read this book to find out who is cursing the schools. Great series!
The third and final year. I remember all those feelings when I graduated. Time spent with friends, games, etc. Lucas had a lot to live up too this year and she hit it as hard as a gryff. I'd like to see how all high she'll soar
The entire series was amazing from start to finish!! I could not put these books down!! Can't wait to start another series by C.S. Churton, I am certain it will be just as good! Thank you!
I think the most fundamental issue I had with this is that we never really got to know anyone, so a lot of the climactic moments were robbed of their emotional weight. However, I bumped up the rating a bit when I realised that we'd got to the end and the protagonist didn't have a love interest, which was great.
Very enjoyable story, if a bit derivative of Harry Potter in the beginning. Author needs to stop using "Me", i.e. 'Me and Sam'. Used at least half-dozen times, and should have been caught by editors in an otherwise well written book.
This was a truly great series of books, each linked with each other and magnificent in their own right. Thanks for taking the time and energy to write them because I know the readers out there will enjoy them as much as I did. Fantabulous
This is a very fast moving story. No lules and slow moving sections. I usually only read books with at least a hint of remance , none here and still I really enjoyed it. Think I'll read the next trilogy.
Ok this series was fantastic from start to finish!! This part of our journey may be over but it's an epic ride! And I cannt wait to see these characters on the next part of their journey!!💕
If you enjoy a fast paced, action packed, magical adventure with lots of plot twist and unexpected turns you will Love this series. Highly recommended.
I have loved this whole saga, engaging, interesting. The characters are interesting, believable and “characters.” Looking forward to the next group of stories!
