Finally, we get to see Callie again. She is adjusting to her role as Dracula, but there are those who don’t want her in power, and there are those who want to take her power and her city. As she does, she deals with them in her own unique way. I loved getting to see Callie again and all of her allies. We also get some new characters…I’m never going to keep all the characters in the Templeverse straight! LOL! The author has done it again: a well-written book filled with laughs, action, insights, gasps, and a twisted way to look at innocent objects you’ll never see in the same way again (yes, the dreaded rubber ducky debacle). You have to read this one to keep up, and you will enjoy every minute. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

The Seven Deadly Sins have escaped Hell, and one of them has a rather intense personal interest in Callie - beyond taking just her city.
With every book, in every series, we get deeper and deeper into the characters' heads. Anghellic is no disappointment. While Callie Penrose is occupied kicking major demon butt, she's also contemplating her anemic love life, and doing something she excels at: bringing people (of all species and pantheons) together.
Action, existentialism, personal introspection, ribald humor, pratfalls and belly laughs... You know - Silvers doing his thing. Wonderful.

When I think Shayne Silvers’ books can’t get any better, he goes and outdoes himself. Callie has returned to Kansas City, and it seems everyone wants a piece of her. She has a talent for pissing everyone off, and bringing estranged family together. She refuses to choose any side but her own, so how will she keep Heaven and Hell off her back and and from destroying the very city she loves? One of the best books I've ever read with a leading lady who's got all the attributes a leading lady needs : Meet Callie Penrose. She is as smart as she is stunning, as tough and as lethal as the sword she wields, a Wizard who cares for Kansas City & her people and kicks ass just as easily as any bloke ever could. Callie is a descendant of King Solomon, Daughter of a Dark Wizard & Nephilim who's DNA is part Beast. Can trap Angels & Demons alike in her ring & carries The Spear of Destiny inside her, the one that pierced Jesus' side while on the cross. The first of the new breed of Horsemen, Callie is the Horseman of Despair, was a Sheppard, yet became the new Dracula, controlling the World's Vampires and wears an indestructible white ninja suit gifted by Aphrodite made of moonbeams and starlight, that’s almost as strong as Kevlar, but lighter & more resilient, as flexible as lace and quite formidable in her own right with a reputation to match as is a bad guy's worse nightmare Hell-bent on righting wrongdoings.

I don't do things by halves, making it hard on myself by beginning this series at Anghellic Book 8, rather than book 1 Unchained, so I have missed a lot along the way, & who's who & why, but I for one can not wait for this journey to begin at the start & begin it will as I have just bought every single Callie novel & audio book.

And now that I've read my first Fires & Feathers novel, I will forever regret naming my puppy Luna, instead of Callie (after my now favourite female character), I wanted Callie, but was concerned, what If I don't like the character? Then my dog's stuck with the name? (I had heard Quinn MacKenna (Shayne Silvers other female leading lady is not that likeable, at first) and thought I might be stuck with a name I didn't like. Mind you, Luna preferred the name Callie too, went troppo 4 it (still does), but my niece didn't like it, thinking it sounded too much like Kelly (her reason, not mine).
And still I did this knowing I've absolutely loved every character I've ever read from My Favourite American Male Author Mr Shayne Silvers & his crazy mind, warped sense of humour & freaky imagination.
Is it too late to change her name at 21 months of age?

Speaking of the Pup, This book is so good, even Luna was getting in on the action, reading it too and I've got the photos to prove it, (posted in Shayne Silvers Den of Freaks) if that's not a sign, I don't know what is, but too little, too late!

Shayne Silvers is a genius at what he does and has an out of this world knack of building excitement suspense and drama at just the right moment bringing about the most outlandish and climatic conclusions in each & every book.

Shayne's writing always feels fresh, exciting, inviting & invigorating, but familiar & comfortable at the same time as in you sort of know what your in for, but with many shocks and surprises along the way.
Its like coming home, at the end of a crappy day, putting on your favourite sweats & ugg boots, flicking off your bra, and being enveloped in a giant warm embrace by one you love in winter as you snuggle into your favourite reading nook. And while he may be an easy read, that by no means, means it'll be a boring read, actually nothing could be further from the truth. There's never any down time in a Shayne Silvers book and if that's what your looking for, you're in the wrong place, I'd suggest a romance novel or a holiday.

These books are like an endurance marathon, they get the blood pumping, the mind thinking and the pulse racing with excitement, action and magic and you're in it for the long haul.
And I wouldn't want it any other way!
My favourite day of the month is always Release Day, whenever Shayne's launching his new book or if there's not one & I've got the time, my go to is to grab one of his 35+ books our of my Kindle Library.

You'll find the usual laughing out loud moments that'll have you rolling on the floor in hysterics that Silvers' is famous for, but word of warning to the wise, do not eat & drink while reading his books, for food, drink, snot & spittle can and will often fly from mouth & nose covering cherished books or tablet and it's (s)not just me that reports this phenomenon! LOL!
Maybe that's a Silvers trade secret, 'make 'em laugh till they charge' so we end up buying more, in replacement books.
So not only are you left with an aching jaw, sides and face, but a cleaning job too!

He is the Maestro of Madness and the Terrorist of Tears, but will they be tears of joy & happiness we shed along with Callie & crew or tears of sadness, loss and sorrow?
Will Callie acquire the happy ending and true love she has been so desperately aching for or will she be forced to marry a Demonic Spawn from Hell to save Kansas City?

An outstanding read. Like a supernatural caper flick, the actions pulled off by Callie and crew to deal with the arrival of the 7 Deadly Sins are captivating. Every time you think you know what will happen, the tables turn. With every answer comes new questions. Action-infused, unpredictable, and often hilarious, the results leave you unable to stop reading until the conclusion. So ask yourself, do you feel Lucky?

For quite a while now, I've felt Callie was probably one of the more boring characters in the Templeverse, being a firm fan of Quinn's and always hoping Callie would step up and be as much fun. Well, I don't have to wait any longer! Callie has become one of the funnier, more likeable, more exciting characters in this universe, and this book brought all of that out.

Having to deal with vampire priests apparently wasn't enough for Callie Penrose. She now has to get involved with Archangels and Archdemons. Because, hey, what fun is there in just being the newest Horseman of Nate Temple's newest 4 when there're so many monsters to keep her busy in her town besides angels, demons, vampires, wares, mages, beasts, crazed alicorns, skeletons in cowboy hats, Divines, witches...well, you get the idea. No, our Callie had to go out and play with the big boys. And who bigger than the Archs of the world?

So, while minding her own business, trying to get Castle Dracula under control, learning to meditate and hone her fighting skills with hotness personified (that would be Ryuu for all you heathens who haven't really looked at the man!), what sneaks up to her but an Archdemon who seems to have set his sights on her...romantically? Seriously?

Only Shayne Silvers could think of having Callie Penrose, the poor child who is just this side of being the second coming of Mother Theresa on steroids, suddenly be coveted by Archdemons of all things. Now, you tell me. Is there a hysterical story behind that or what? Hysterical, and about to become historical.

Finding out her godparents were a demon named Samael and the first lady of Eden, Lilith, betrothed, besotted, and so much fun to know wasn't enough. Nope. Becoming Dracula wasn't enough. No siree. Wearing the mask of Despair wasn't nearly enough. Nuh-uh. Oh, no, not for Callie Penrose. She has to play duck and hide with the 7 deadlies. While keeping Michael as ignorant of the circumstances as possible, of course, because Michael and the 7 definitely wouldn't make for a great mixer. And through all this, she has to figure out where things stand with her "later" boyfriend? Yep, that's our Callie in a nutshell.

This newest addition to the Shayne Silvers Templeverse is possibly the most fun I've read since watching Nate play cowtipping with a Minotaur. Yes, it was intense. Yes, there were tears, there was angst, there were emotions flying like shrapnel everywhere you turned. But in with all that was so much fun; sarcasm galore matched only by crazy characters that keep you laughing in the most inappropriate of moments (the best kind of moments!). This concoction of insanity and perspicacity reminds us all of the brilliant minds behind that sly smile perpetually pasted on the face of Shayne Silvers; an author of exceptional talent that never ceases to astound.

I'm so pleased to have been brought back to the Callie Penrose of yore, the one that kept us wondering at all times, what is going on behind that gorgeous face? I can't say it enough. Welcome back, Callie. I missed you! And I definitely would be remiss if I left out a firm welcome back to those days when men had to cut firewood for the fireplace, because, really, what better way to legitimately ogle a man with the body of a god?

This was such an excellent piece of our Templeverse, Mr. Silvers, and so excellently presented with a name that keeps us guessing until nearly the end! Excellently done doesn't do it justice, but it's the best I've got, so Excellently done, Shayne Silvers! Excellently done, indeed!

This story is full of Angels. And Demons. And Daemons. And family relationships you wouldn’t expect.

In the Templeverse, there is an increasing tendency to stress family relationships – even in families that seemed to have broken off all relationships for hundreds or even thousands of years. In Anghellic, the main focus is on the relationships between Angels and Demons (fallen Angels). We tend to forget – they tend to forget – that they are brothers.

Callie Penrose has been acquiring unusual relationships for the duration of several books now. A while back she adopted Cain, the world’s first murderer as her brother. In the previous book, Godless, she picked up by extension Cain’s brother, Abel (now disguised as a living skeleton better known as Xylo), as another brother. She also discovered that the two demons, Samael and Lilith, are her godparents. Go figure.

Well, this time it gets worse. Callie can’t take a little walk around the streets of Kansas City without running into the famous demon, Legion, who informs Callie that his master intends to marry her.
Naturally, Callie is confused and wants to know who this demon is and what he wants.

While she is waiting to find out more about this demon, she also stumbles onto some mysteries in her mother’s laboratory, mysteries that involve Callie’s friends, Xuanwu and Qinglong, and their sisters. It seems they (the sisters) have been hidden in Purgatory (this version of Purgatory makes Hell sound like a walk in the park). Callie sets up a plan to retrieve them before her enemies can get their hands on them.

This plan involves getting an Archdemon and an Archangel to work together. Good luck with that Callie.

Overall a fun read. In his Tempelverse, Silvers typically moves the character forward, while intertwining elements from the other characters' series. He pretty much finishes up the story arc, and then leaves a little cliffhanger at the end for the next book in the series. Here, however, I was disappointed with how he wrapped up the current story arc. He built up the story-line well, but then it seemed to me that he rushed the ending. He does tend to be concise with his endings; but this one was too abrupt and left too many questions and unresolved issues that he typically wraps up before the cliffhanger. Even though this is fantasy-fiction, and he can create any scenario, much of the ending made little sense to me and it did not explain very much. It just felt rushed and muddled for an ending. When I got to the last page, and saw that how the arc ended, my first thought was "is that it?" What about ? Or, how did ? Why was ? I realize that he has another book in the series coming out, but the ending of this story should have been finished better than it was. It was just - abrupt; and it felt unfinished, or incomplete. When I finish one of his books, I want to come away with "wow, good story;" rather than "is that it?" What about ? Or, how did ? Why was ? It's like going to a restaurant, ordering a full mean, being given only part of the meal and then told you can have the rest at your next visit. You leave without feeling full. That is how "Anghellic" was to me: the story arc ended too abruptly to leave me feeling full after the read.

Drac is Back

Well, Callie is anyway and with a host of legendary Characters to make a Sinfully good book.
The 7 deadly Sins have escaped Hell and they have their eye on a certain White Rose. This ruffles our angelic friends' feathers so they come a calling too. She however has no intention of entertaining either heaven or hell's demands.

Run Castle Dracula
Keep Kansas save
Help plan a wedding
And help her friends find their missing sisters.
And if you know Callie, then you know things are gonna get wild...

This book was super fun. I was hooked from the first chapter. I've always had a soft spot for Callie, but I think this might be one of my favourites in her series. It was Funny and entertaining... it was heartfelt and made me a little emotional in places. All in all I found I couldn't put this book down until it was finished. So in my sleep deprived state, I can say wholeheartedly that this book is a winner. I highly recommend this series and I just love Anghellic. Thank you for the Wild Ride Shayne. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Angels, and Demons, and Callie, oh my!

Callie Penrose might have dreamed of love and marriage (at some future date), but she didn’t dream of it with one of the 7 deadly sins. But that’s what one of them hopes to force on her, thus giving himself unimaginable power. Callie has other ideas, though, and with her own brand of dealing with trouble, she sets out to put him straight. With the help of her godparents, the two Divines (Qinglong and Xuanwu), Sanguina, Ryuu, and a host of others, Callie sets off on the quest of a lifetime to save two other Divines and free herself from the prospect of a lifetime of misery.

This has been one of my favorite Callie books to date. New and old characters blend to make a thrilling story of love, non-love, action, contemplation, adventure, and intrigue. Mr. Silvers never disappoints, and his collection of Templeverse stories continues to be more captivating as time goes on. Look for the first book in the series, Obsidian Son, and set out on your own adventure.

Hell on heels

This is Callie’s best outing to date. So much happens in this book to start leading us further along. Some questions get answered and more get raised. However, other than the cliffhanger ending (blast you, Shayne Silvers, you vile villain!!!), this book leaves you feeling efficiently sated.

What stands out the absolute most in this book is Shayne’s writing. Having read everything from Fairytale to now, I’ve gotten to witness Shayne’s writing grow and evolve. There are sections in Anghellic that are pure poetry. The story is brilliant, exactly what I’ve come to expect from the Templeverse, but the writing takes it to another level. Callie evolves more and more with each book, growing from that young woman questioning so much into a warrior Queen with more and more answers.

Interesting

I hate to say it, but it is taking me longer and longer to actually "feel" the story. I was almost half way through this story, enough that I was seriously considering giving up, before the book began to come together. It then became what I consider to be good ole Shayne Silvers, and I finished the book without putting it down and was glad to do it.

Why did I dislike the first half so much? I really am not sure, outside of the fact that it was boring. This isn't what I expect from Shayne. I wish I could offer more concrete facts. Am I recommending that you pass on Angehellic? Not at all. It's definitely worth slogging through the first. You might, after all, see it entirely different. As my stepfather used to say, "That's why they make chocolate ice cream as well as vanilla."

Mr. Silvers has 3 series in the Templeverse, and of all of them, Feathers and Fire has never been my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the series very much, but I've just never been as invested in the characters, or liked them as much as I do the characters in the other two series.

But that's starting to change. I actually started to find Callie relatable in this book. She's growing emotionally, while still wrestling with many of the (emotional) issues we all wrestle with daily. This makes her much more relatable, and likable, in my opinion.

The storyline itself was just as much of a fun, roller-coaster ride as always. The prose never disappoints, and the snark is always on point. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment of Callie's story!

OMG!! This is definitely one of my favorite books from the Verse so far. The laughs just keep coming through the entire book. My husband and kids kept throwing me weird looks as I read this book. It took me a day and half to read this whole book because I just COULD NOT put it down. This book has Callie and her new group of allies working to save the world again from a new villain. The many twists and turns involved are marvelous. I will be reading this book again as it was so much fun to read. I cannot believe how much it made me laugh. Shayne Silvers has once again unveiled a masterpiece. I think the only thing better than reading again will be listening to it on Audible. Love it and not so patiently waiting the next installment.

Loved it

I love the name of this book. I have realized in reading this series that the story will eventually lead to the name of the book. This story did not disappoint. The reader didn’t find out what an anhellic was until the end. Rath, one of the seven deadly sins believes Callie is part of his prophecy. She is part of a prophecy but just not in the way Rath thinks. Not only does Callie have to protect her city, but she has to dodge a marriage contract with Rath. I have Loved the character Ryuu ever sense he was introduced. I hope him and Callie get together not just as a bodyguard but as lovers. The humor in this book was grate! The twists that the author puts on the angles and demons was genius. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Who says Dracula can't have the heart of an angel? Callie has grown so much over the course of her story, self-discovery, love, friendship, unity and bravery. All the qualities we should hold dear. You won't want to miss this adventure as Kansas City will never be the same after the 7 Deadly Sins are unleashed upon it. So grab that glass of wine and a few tissues because this ones full of surprises! A quest for the ages..a family of blood and bonds coming together to right the world and stop the evil that threatens to destroy it. A quick stop at your favorite shop proves a girl could always use the perfect outfit for the fight ahead and a rubber ducky awaiting at home in her bed!

Welcome Back Callie

The think I like about Shayne Silver’s characters is that they grow and becoming stronger in the process. I’ve missed Callie Penrose, this really being her first story since she took over Her new role after liberating Castle Dracula and it’s inhabitants. She is a truly unique mystical warrior and strategist, following her own path in her self chosen role as protector of Kansas City. She has acquired a retinue of loyal family and followers who have chosen her to lead them in the supernatural community and multi dimensions of her home. This book can be understood and enjoyed as a stand alone, but is much better as part of the overall 8 book series.

Heaven and Hell Can Be So Exciting

Shayne has once again taken concepts we use every day and turn them inside out. Heaven and hell, angels and demons all take on deeper meanings in this eight installment of the Callie Penrose saga. Proposals and couplings are the backdrop. Lilith and Samael are adorable. Callie learns about live from the master on the subject. All while trying to save her city from annihilation.
You need to prep your treats and clear your schedule because once you open this book, you won’t want to put it down till the last sentence passes by your eyes. Another amazing piece of the universe that Master Shayne has created comes to light.

Can’t wait for the next one

This book was awesome (as has been every other installment in this series). I loved the interactions between Callie and her Buddha, as well as her and Roland (especially after all they’ve been through). It was also great seeing her settle into her role as the new Count.
Pride’s true name was definitely a surprise... though it made a lot of sense. And on that topic, I love how all of the magic lore is so seamlessly woven together, both the preestablish and Silvers-touched versions.
Finally… The ending? What happened to Claire?! Definitely recommend

Callie Penrose, the defender of Kansas City, and the new Count Dracula, thinks she has some time for things to get back to normal. However, the denizens of Hell have different ideas. The Seven Deadly Sins have been released, and they have their sights set on good old KC. Callie is given the choice, marry one of the sins, or let her city become a holy battleground. To get out of this one will take a scheme that brings in many of Callie's new found friends, and a few unexpected allies. This book is a great set-up for more excitement to come.

More Callie, Please!!

As always (since she is my favorite from the Templeverse), Callie delivered. She was a little more thoughtful than active in this book, but I still loved it. I like how she always finds ways to bring LOVE into the lives of people around her. The reason for the 4 star rating is selfish on my part. I wanted her to be with Nate. But Ryuu is a perfect foil for her. Could this maybe turn into a reverse harem? But no! I guess Nate deserves his happy ending too. I can't wait for the next Feather and Fire book.

Taking place just before and during Carnage (Nate temple)

Quite the book or twist and turns, as anyone who had read Shayne Silvers books before knows. Callie has been working to settling into her role as Dracula, while still keeping an eye on Kansas City, and trying to figure out her relationship status, and getting Claire to move in, and now...demons are loose. Next book please

After each book, i declare my love for Shayne Silvers andd his writing. This time is no different. Although this book was not as compellings as others in the series, i emjoyed it no less. I especially love the lighthearted budding romantic aspect of it and should say its about time Callie had her epiphany and get some real romance. Looking forward to the next book
