China Bohannon, 1890s bookkeeper turned sleuth, is branching out… Although still working with her uncle’s detective agency, Doyle & Howe Investigations, she’s almost given up on becoming a partner and is turning to providing security services, something her uncle, Montgomery Howe, and his partner, Gratton Doyle, aren’t interested in. Suitable applicants are hard to find, but she settles on a trustworthy old acquaintance, a somewhat iffy person who likes his booze, and a handsome stranger. When an important job comes up, she has to go with the available crew.
China is an excellent investigator. The who, what, and why, of this vendetta becomes clear and, as is China’s experience so far, she discovers a woman directly behind the crime.

China Bohannon opens a new business of her own in this detective adventure to earn extra income. She has decided on a complementary business to the detective agency, a security service! So one winter morning finds her downstairs in the agency’s office interviewing several men who showed up in answer to the ad she ran in the newspaper outlining the employment she offers. She quickly culls through the applicants, rejecting two,and hiring some while waiting on references for others. No sooner does she have her personnel hired than she has two jobs lined up! One is to escort a young girl to and from school, ensuring that she doesn’t run off to Alaska! The other is to escort Fern Antoine (Atwood) and The Dancing Damsels from their hotel to Sepp Anselm’s theater where they’re performing nightly and then back to the hotel after the performance. Someone sent the girls some roses which were dosed with pepper. When the girls bent to smell their fragrance they received pepper in their eyes and noses leading to coughs, sneezes, and tears! The girls were so upset that their performance wasn’t up to par! The Bohannon Security Company’s job is to prevent any more disruption of the girls’ performances. Will they be successful? Who sent the flowers? Was it just a heavy- handed joke or something more sinister? Follow the clues with China in The Six Dancing Damsels! ♥️✝️🐑✡️♥️
Ms Crigger has done it again! A series of stories that grip you from the first to the last, making it hard not to OD and get a night's sleep. China Bohannon is a former rich girl cheated out of her inheritance by a wicked step-mother. Instead of collapsing in anguish, she moves to Spokane where her uncle is a private investigator. Starting out as a voluntary bookkeeper, she gets more involved in the business every day, until she starts her own security business. Her adventures get hairier and hairier as she is beat up, shot or pushed off a steamer in each book. When I finished the sixth and last book, I was saddened there wasn't at least one more, and one more after that. This is an exciting western series that you should read, even if it's just because it doesn't follow the usual formula. The books have my recommendation.
5 STARS for C.K.Crigger for Book 6 in . Series: A China Bohannon Novel. A great BLURB is provided. Great & interesting characters with fantastic descriptions of the employment & work landscape in Spokane & the immediate area of Washington state.
This is a wonderful intelligent storyline that is fast paced with plenty of action. Having read all 6 Books of this series this is 1 of my favorites if not my outright favorite. I haven't decided yet. However I did like them all.
So if if you are looking for an exciting, interesting, & fast paced drama packed with action and passion. The passions of friendship, work ethic , hate, for the love of another, & fear. Just no sexual passion up front anyway, maybe implied & mentioned only.
C.k. trigger is an excellent writer. Each book holds your interest and way to the end. Eaves you with a smile and wanting the story to continue. I've just finished book six. Hope book seven is next.
I was very disappointed in the abrupt change in Gratton's whole character in this book that I didn't think matched up at all with how he had developed in the previous 5 books.
I have read all the books currently offered by c.k.crigger. I have yet to get a bad one. All have been interesting and enjoyable. I recommend all but especially the woman series.
