Main Street Single Dads #2

Single Dad's Barista

Rate this book
He’ll give her more than just a sip.

My first and only goal moving into this small town is to crush the local competition with my brand-new coffee shop.

At least, that’s my plan when I move back to Lakewood with my baby daughter.

Step One: Open my new shop. Step Two: Dominate.

The other shop in town will go down the drain like a melted frozen mocha on a hot day, and I don’t care.

Until I meet Ellie Collins, the barista working behind the counter at the coffee shop across the street.

I catch her twerking when she thinks nobody’s watching...and once I’ve seen her drop it low, I have to have her in my bed. Or on the counter. Or the floor.

We’re supposed to be enemies. In the light of day, our businesses are locked in a battle to the death.

But at night, I can’t stay away…

Single Dad’s Barista is a steamy full-length single dad novel with adult language and an HEA that will have you buzzing with love like a piping hot mug of your favorite coffee drink.

My first read from Amelia Wilde is super fun and playful. Single Dad’s Barista is chalked full of sexy, amusing and page turning scenes. Dax and Ellie have an insta love type attraction despite being coffee enemies. As the coffee shop war heats up, so does the heat between the two.

A perfect lazy Sunday read, little angst gives you a fun loving HEA and some swooning sexy times. Perfect for those fall afternoons.

Ya know I like coffee, scratch that, I LIVE for coffee- my body needs a steady stream of that caffeinated goodness to make my days less foggy and give others in my presence a lot better odds of me being not quite so snarky ( I said better odds Okay)
However, if I was around someone like the determined, sweet has a way with words single dad Dash.... I might be able to forgo the extra creamer in that coffee ya know?!( HA! )

Oh, Ms.Wilde....
* Sips on coffee, wonders if the teenager daughter will get her a white mocha latte, curses author*
I should have known I would have all these fuzzy feeling " brewing" when I started this book!
From the very first page, I was all in-Ellie, and Dash are such fun, humorous pair with sparks flying whenever they get near each other chemistry.
I could not help but be ridiculously excited to watch them grow as a pair, yet hide their affections due to the craziness that surrounded them.
Gah!
Seriously! This book was a melt my heart, root them on, alpha'd hot, with an extra side passion, frustrating to fun-loving romance that wrapped me all up in knots and I could not put down!
The only bad thing about it? I wanted more!!

One I would suggest checking out!

IMO Another 5+ Star Novel!!

This is a fun and sexy read, light on the angst but very well written. It had good pace, a nice plot with a few unexpected twists and plenty of steamy action between Dash and Ellie.

I loved Ellie, she was such a real and down to earth character who just got on with it and made the best of any situation. Dash, well I didn't warm to him as much, with his ruthless ambition to drive Medium Roast out of business. It was only his devotion and love for his daughter that redeemed him in my eyes.

My two biggest criticisms stem from the baby. Firstly an 11 month old does not say words, they just babble, talking comes much later. Secondly his split and divorce from his wife (was she an ex yet?) was very quick given the age of the baby and in all honesty starting a new business and a new relationship would be VERY low down on the list of things to do as a single parent of a baby.

Since I didn't really connect with Dash, I didn't love this book as much as the last one, but it was still an entertaining and easy read, ideal for when you want to really relax and switch off.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What a great read. I really enjoyed Ellie and Dash's story. I also liked the fact that is centered around a coffee shop. Something different from what is currently out there. Most books seem to be about office romances, billionaires, doctors, men in service. The chemistry between the two was great. Even though they seem to business enemies that didn't stop them from being drawn to one another and giving into it. And Dash's daughter even though not in most of the book seemed adorable. Yes, at one point they didn't see eye to eye when it came to business but once that was straightened out, watch out! I loved the way they were able to work everything out and I liked how Dash was able to help Ellie see that she could follow her passion with photography and not feel as if she was letting her aunt and uncle down in some way. Loved the ending and the HEA!

Bleh! Ellie character was loathsome

I so wanted to like this book. But I actually really didn't like Ellie. She was completely unreasonable and irrational. Dash was trying to make a life for his daughter and she wanted him to just quit. I hated her in that moment and the fact that Dash went out to fix things so they could work out when she cared so little about him having a future for his child made me hate her more. I actually wish Dash would've found someone else and she fall on her face and fail all around. Selfish and her aunt and uncle obviously were crap individuals as well. The fact that he saved the day for them was disheartening and wrong. I think the only way to save this book would have been to have his coffee shop crush them and her to have to come groveling back and find a way to make it up to him! Terrible

Let me start with I liked it. Didn't love it, but I liked it. It was definitely a cute light romance that was an easy read for a few hours.

Now that I'm finished there are a few bits that annoyed me. Sigh. So here that are:

• I sorta felt like Ellie's defection of her career as a photojournalist was a little too dramatic. Was what she experienced traumatic? Yes, it was. Should she have completely abandoned the career she wanted and ran from it? Eh I don't know. Leaving the city made sense but it sorta felt like she was hiding from it rather than facing it. 🤷‍♀️

• Dash's daughter Rosie was quite cute everytime she appeared, however I had an issue with the fact we never got any one-on-one time with Rosie and Ellie. It was always Rosie and Dash or Rosie with her sitter Norma. Ellie's first of only two scenes with Rosie until the epilogue occurred at the beginning when she first met Dash and he came in the shop holding her and when she went with him to pick her up at the babysitters house after they made up at the end. This very much bothered me. For a single father romance very little effort was put into including the child into their relationship. When Ellie came over to Dash's to spend time with him Rosie was asleep. So, no cute outings with the duo or nada. This bothered me for a number of reasons and one of the most glaring being that Ellie being in a relationship with a single father meant obviously she accepted that he was a package deal yet this was never discussed. Dash never considered if she would want to be a mom, have kids herself, or was comfortable stepping into the stepmom role. Hell, if she even liked kids! We will never know. These were all important bits for me to know and understand.

• Which brings me to a relating issue. For me, I personally felt they "fell in love" too quickly. What, maybe a week passed before the sex happened and then a week of sporadic sex and then THE fight which leads to a two/three week break....huh. It wasn't that big a deal while reading but looking back now that I'm done it really freaking bugs me. So maybe because it was so fast that having the let's meet your possible new mom scene couldn't happen (😆) but you get my drift, right??

• Also, big no-no on the lack of detail during sex about if they were protected or not. Seriously, it was so obscure! So naturally my brain connected that with them not being protected and then later after some sexing Ellie refers to both of their "juices" on her thighs. So, when is it ok to gloss over this? Especially because protection of any kind was never brought up between them. This is a huge pet peeve for me.

So yes, I did like it in a broad spectrum sort of way. It had its flaws obviously but still a cute quick read.

A great read by Amelia Wilde about a single dad, Dash, who ends up in Lakewood to open a coffee shop when he inherits a building for his grandfather. His grandmother's dream was to open a coffe shop so Dash is making that dream come true will starting over from his divorce. Ellie runs the only other coffe shop for her aunt and uncle when they leave on an emergency, she's the only one there running things but she's also running away from her dream of being a photographer. Their first meet is hilarious and there second meet ends up him helping her behind the counter when she is swamped. He tells her about his business and soon they agree to disagree that they are enemies but that can't stop their attraction and steamy times. How long can they go on with both businesses competing against each other.
A great read with steamy scenes and with some humour that had me chuckling and dialogues that were easy flowing and didn't skip a beat. I enjoyed both characters and how easily they got along considering the circumstances but the ending seemed rushed to me because it didn't answer some of my questions....why was her aunt so rude to her, what was said between Dash and her aunt and uncle, does his ex ever contact him again and is there finally closure there and how did her aunt and uncle react to their coffe shop. Otherwise a great read that had me laughing and smiling with very lovable characters all around.

Cold Brew was part of the Happily Ever After Collection but I have been wanting to read this series for awhile! I love Amelia’s work and this one fit her to a tee! It was a fun and flirty romance!!

Ellie has been helping her Aunt and Uncle at their coffee shop, taking over the day to day operation while they are away. Things aren’t exactly going smoothly but anything was better than finding out a new coffee shop was opening up...right across the street!

Dash moved to town with his daughter to fulfill a dream. He knows he may end up putting the current local coffee shop out of business but he doesn’t seem to worried about it. Will his thoughts change when he meets the barista across the street? How can he be so attracted to the enemy? Will the dream and the determination to follow things through keep Dash focused on his shop or will Ellie change his mind? Will their attraction win or will they be destined to be enemies?

Such a sweet, sassy, sexy read! Ellie and Dash have instant chemistry that shines throughout the book! Such an adorable couple! My only wish was more of a connection with Ellie and Dash’s daughter, Rosie! I wanted more of them!! I am glad I finally read this book, now I must read the other two!!

Sweet, charming romance with likable characters that help take you out of reality with a nice brewing cup of joe!

Single Dad's Barista by Amelia Wilde had the right mixture of humor, wittiness and steamy scenes! Amelia hooked me in with her wonderful synopsis, since I am a fan of a good enemies to lovers story, but unfortunately this novel just didn't live up to what I thought it would be. It had all the elements, but for me, personally, something didn't click.

Ellery has helped out her family by working in the only coffee shop in the small town of Lakewood. Her passion has always been her camera and not coffee, but she believes she owes her Aunt & Uncle everything. In walks Dash, single dad and now new owner of the new coffee shop in town. He sparks emotions in Ellery that she hasn't felt in awhile, but shouldn't she feel revenge, anger towards him for disrupting her steady low interesting life? Or be intrigued for a new jolt of energy for something new?

Just a little slow for my taste, but honestly, again, it had good elements that others might fall in love with.

3.5 Stars

Ignore Title, Excellent Characters & Writing

Really really liked this one. Appealing characters, small town, and a war between the coffee shops. Well, not really a *war*, but people are loyal to who & what they know. I'd classify this as a 'feel good' story. No one's a villain, but not everyone behaves well. And when they don't, they have reasons.

About the only scene I felt missing was a resolution scene between Ellie and her aunt, who refuses to let go her budgetary choke-hold on the coffee shop. She comes across much more of a witch than Jade probably intended, but she was the only character I didn't like much at all. Her tight-fisted mismanagement existed long before the family emergency in Florida so this character has no excuses.

All the characters are charming, the baby is cute without being cloying (hard to do, a lot of writers mess that up and go too cutesy) and the sex, while in the moment and explicit, isn't overly so. You know, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, it's just right.

**Dash and Ellery**

Dash has a plan, It never included being a divorced single dad moving to a new town with his beautiful daughter Rosie. But he promised his grandparents that he would make their dream come to life in the building they left him. He surly did not plan on a sexy as hell Barista from a competing coffee house.
Ellery or Ellie to her friends and family had a dream that disappeared like the wind when fear took over her life. She tucked tail and ran back to the only place she knew was a safe and a job that was of no challenge to her at all. Lakewood is a safe and loyal community. Her Aunt and Uncle are counting on her to make the coffee house a success but she truly hates the job. Ellie wants the business to succeed but she is at a lose and at a stale mate in her life until Dash walks into her shop with the cutest little girl she has ever seen and that daddy is not bad at all himself. For them both it is instant lust. But they are competitors and enemies. Will they let the compitition ruin what they have or will they find a way to make it work?

I loved, loved, loved this story! Seriously, once I started I didn't want to put it down. I was hooked. Ellie gets caught twerking and turns Dash's world upside down. It was a hilarious chance encounter that led into a sweet, hot, and sometimes heartbreaking romance. Dash is a single dad with a little girl who's adorable. He's starting over after his wife decided she wanted something shiny and Pine. Lakewood is where Dash decides to start over and start a coffee shop to honor his late grandma's wishes. A coffee shop that sits directly across from the coffee shop Ellie runs all by herself. One of the many, many things I loved about this story is I didn't know how the warring coffee shops would resolve the big dilemma. I loved how it all worked out, loved the steamy moments, loved the sweet as hell ended, and everything in between. Such a great story!! I highly recommend this must-read. Just think....sitting relaxing with a nice cup of coffee ☕️...simple, heck no!!!!!!
Who would have thought a war could be started over coffee, well that’s what is happening in the coffee shop world of Ellery Collins. A new shop has opened over the road from her aunt and uncles shop Medium Roast and it happens to be another coffee shop. Never in a million years does she ever imagine the owner to be a hot, sexy, single man (Dash) with a cutie daughter (Rosie)Oh Ellery, your madcap world of struggling every day in this shop is about to change dramatically. I felt sorry for Ellery, she deserves so much more but she is loyal to a fault. New owner Dash wants a fresh start and meeting Ellery is an eye opener. So much instant attraction and it’s good to see their relationship develop . A really feel good story and loved every bit of it.......now time for a refreshing decent coffee or two ☕️ ☕️

What a great story!

I gave this a five star rating because it had all the good points that you would find in such a book. It resonates around the coffee barista named Ellery and how she first captured the attention of Dash. Ellery was cleaning the coffee shop and as she was doing it she let her hips twerk to the sound of some offbeat sound given off by one of the machines in the kitchen. Dash came into the shop along with his precious baby daughter Rosie. They caught Ellery twerking and thought it was cute and funny at the same time.
Dash becomes a new customer of the coffee shop, then begins a relationship with Ellery. Ellery soon learns that Dash is building a rival coffee shop across the street. But can they keep their hands off of one another is the question.
Can Ellery keep up a relationship with Dash yet keep her family's coffee shop going? That gets answered in the most delightful way. Thank you Amelia Wilde for such a great and romantic comedy.

This is a great romance story. Ellery has left the city after facing a tradgey and works as a barista in her aunt and uncle's coffee shop, Medium Roast. Ellery loved taking picand hates coffee. Dash enters the coffe shop with his precious little girl, Rosie and has a wonderful moment watching Ellie. Dash has moved out of the city for a fresh start and trying to fulfill his grandmother’s dream, opening a coffee shop in the storefront left to him. Once Ellie and Dash get to know one another feelings creep up pretty quickly and once the competition of owning a coffee across form one another things go south. Can they get back what they both thought was something very special between them or will competing coffe shops keep them ENEMIES? This is a story that put a smile on your face! I received an arc and I am leaving a voluntarily review.

I loved the latest from Amelia Wilde! When Dash shows up in Lakewood he has a plan to start over with his little girl and make the coffee shop dream of his grandmother's a reality, what he never expected was the attraction to the barista in the only other coffee shop in town. Ellery is running her aunt and uncle's coffee shop for them as a way to help out and start to pay them back for all they have done for her. It is not her dream of what she wants to do with her life, but she will run it with gusto. The last thing she expected was the hot Dash walking in to town and her coffee shop and changing everything. They should be enemies and yet can't stay away even if they have to hide it from her group of die hard supporters in her family's coffee shop. I loved Dash and Ellery and his daughter Rosie is adorable. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

When single dad Dash moves to Lakewood to fulfil his Grandmother’s dream of opening a coffee shop there, he does not expect to have to compete with a coffee shop right across the road, which Ellie is running for her aunt and uncle. There is explosive chemistry between these two, but can they survive the war of the coffee shops? No spoilers; this is an absolute must read, you will certainly not be disappointed!
Amelia has written a beautiful storyline, which is humorous, fun, and sweet. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and I loved Rosie, she was just so adorable. I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author. Brilliant work Amelia!

This was a good read for me. I liked Dash and Ellie together, and I thought that they had great chemistry. I was a little disappointed in Ellie, in that she let her aunt just say and do what she wanted without speaking up. I understand helping family, but you can only be expected to take so much. I felt like her aunt was expecting miracles out of nothing, and blamed Ellie for things beyond her control. Around the end of the story, Ellie asks something of Dash that I felt like she had no business asking. Dash responds angrily, because of his past, but it was still not something you should ask of someone. I was glad for their HEA, and they way everything ended up. I will always look forward to what's next from this author!

I definitely savored each sip of this delightful and entertaining single dad, small town romance! This fantastic storyline is the perfect mixture of humor, sweetness, with just the right touch of steaminess. When Dash moves to Lakewood to open a coffeshop his plan is to fulfill his grandmother's dream. The last thing he planned for was to have his world rocked by the barista across the road. Ellery is helping her aunt and uncle run their coffee shop. When Dash walks into her coffee shop there is an instant attraction between them that they can't deny. Who will win the battle of the coffee shops? Could there be more than coffee brewing at Medium Roast? Pick up Single Dad's Barista to find out!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Coffee and romance are a addictive combination! I loved the characters.
Elle is a spitfire running her Aunt and uncles only coffee shop in their sleepy little town. Until handsome Dash and his adorable daughter Rosie move there. He happened to buy and run his own business and you guessed right if you thought coffee shop, not to mention it’s right across the street where Elle can see it.
This book was funny and steamy, I loved the townspeople and their protective side for Elle’s family. Thank you for a wonderful escape. I recommend this book!

This was a great story from the first pages. I fell in love with the characters and how she feels that she owes her aunt and uncle to get rid of any competition

I loved the chemistry between the characters and was hooked from the beginning. I could not put the book down. The way they come together because of coffee. She feels she owes her family and does everything she can to protect them again any competition with other coffee shops in the little town. Then he comes into town and stirs something in her (besides coffee). In the end they all get what they want. Mergers on so many levels. Its a really good read...

Another great Single Dad romance from Amelia!

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Loved this latest single dad, small town romance! Dashiell & Ellery are the focus of this story. Ellie is taking care of her aunt & uncle's coffee shop in Lakewood, after an incident caused her to forget her dream of becoming a photojournalist. Dash is a newly divorced father that's come to Lakewood after being willed a building by his grandfather & decides to live out their dream of opening a small café. Sweet, sexy, funny & a small drop of rivalry that threatens to tear, not only the couple but the town, apart. Would recommend!

A Different Kind of Grind

Ellery is the local barista at the town’s only coffee shop. She’s holding down the fort, by the skin of her teeth, while her aunt and uncle take care of a family crisis in Florida. She’s actually a photographer but has put that on hold for the time being.
Dash is a single dad raising his beautiful daughter Rosie. He’s come to town to start over after his wife leaves him and their baby for another man. He’s setting his grandmother’s dream business: a cafe. Across the street from Ellery’s.
Sparks fly and attraction takes over. Fraternizing with the Enemy never felt so good!

Dash & Ellery should be enemies as business competitors, but their attraction is too strong and immediate and won’t be denied. That is until family loyalties cannot be ignored and then it’s on. But don’t expect this to be a light, easy read. Well, it’s easy to read, and it’s not dark at all, but it is deep – the emotions, the well-drawn characters, and their love story.

This is a charming tale, filled with lots of coffee, a few quirky regulars, some steamy passion, and a sweet, precocious little girl. It’s an entertaining, extremely enjoyable, fast-paced read, which you will find difficult to put down. I highly recommend this very appealing romance!

I loved Dash’s loyalty for his grandparents because for fulfilling their life dream he opened The Coffee Spot in the first place.
And I loved Ellery’s loyalty for her aunt and uncle for whom she struggles to keep their coffee shop afloat while they are on a family emergency in Florida.
I loved the torn emotions from both the main protagonists, the warmth of their characters, their strong presences and their hilarious bantering throughout the book and the high erotic tension at the same time.

A really fantastic read you will not want to miss!
