To Desire a Dragon
The last man in our tribe told me that dragons are small and fierce, and when they bond to someone, they’ll protect them with their life.
This is what our tribe needs--a protector. Our males are being stolen by raiding clans, and with the man-shortage like it is, we can’t afford to lose any more. Armed with a fishhook and a glaring naiveté, I set off to catch my dragon.
I catch him alright.
And I find out a few things.
One: dragons aren’t small.
Two: dragons don’t like fishhooks.
Three: this dragon will only bond to his *mate.*
So I guess the question is… do I desire a dragon?

Not my favourite book from this series. I think I didn't get the humor which I found dense. I may be confused with the next book because I skimmed in most part of the book.

uh...well the writing was good, and I kind of like the reverse of the ole Mars Needs Women trope, but all in all I could not get into this.
I mean- would this be considered a double standard here?
I guess I'm confused about the message- are we meant to see men being sold and breed like live stock as a good thing for them? Especially with how the h's brother is found
Nor did I like the women's reactions. Jumping on the H, basically trying to rape him, and then shouting vulgarities like "OoOh I'll ride him! Give him to me!" or the h (joking or not) saying that she'll trade him out for a good fur.

I love the author's writing style and sense of humor but this story didn't hit the right spot for me. There were a few things that happened that really ruined the taste of the whole thing.
1) Her brother. The more I thought about it, it was his briefly introduced character that really ruined the book for me. Nalle puts herself in serious danger in a desperate hope that she could rescue her little brother and save her village. When she finally finds him he turns out to be “perfectly happy and he definitely appeared to be in control.” Then he casually introduces her to his "naughty little harem" Nope. Especially when they then helped him hunt down the women that were hiding from him. What the everloving fuck?! Big fucking nope!
Then, to rub dirt in the wound, Halki gives her brother gold as a bride price for her which she finds “cute.” Why should her brother get anything considering he is a POS who totally fucked over his old tribe/family in favor for his own self interest. Yeah, he was initially kidnapped but he obviously had the authority to send word to his old tribe that he was at least ok. Maybe he could have even traded with them or made a treaty to help both tribes. He had to know that his absence put them in a dangerous place. But no, he just tied up all the women in the new tribe and with dubious consent he fucked them all.
2) Halki's weird dick. "From his tip, two feathery protrusions, not unlike moth antennae, emerge." Sorry, what now? Then, when are getting steamy, the reader gets more descriptive phrases like "the little moth-penis-feathers," "oil glands," and "hot dragon sackjuice" to really set the mood. Hmmm, no thanks. Maybe it is just me but an oily, mothlike, dick with antennae doesn't really get me going.
3) Eating the satyrs. One minute they are "yelling vulgarities"(so they can speak) and the next they are being eaten and used for their hide. I get a dragon being fine eating something that would talk, but why is Nalle so cool with it? This makes me wonder about the moral guidelines in their world if humans are fine eating sentient creatures but not rabbits?

Nope. Love the idea, hate the book. The attitude of the women in this book was disgusting. They practically abuse men. They literally attack them. While they say that men are valuable, they degrade them as only being sex objects. Didn’t really enjoy any aspect of this book which was disappointing cause I was looking forward to this book.

Wow this was super short. Or it felt that way. I was surprised when it ended.
This is book 2 in the Veny’s Needs Men series. Halki was not only more accepting of his human mate than the last book, he actually felt a connection to her when they were children. I loved that little part of the story, a small dragon stalking a little girl eating the rabbits she set free, thinking that she caught them for him. It was so cute.
Something I loved about this book that really bothered me about the first book was that Halki could change back into his dragon form. He didn’t lose his dragon once she touched him. I sort of hated that aspect of the last book, and find it interesting that this wasn’t a detail the authors all decided on together.
But I really enjoyed this little snippet into Halki and Nalle’s life. Halki had an innocent quality to him that made him very loveable.

Okay. Dragons and the ladies who (accidentally) mate with them. I LIKE IT. Given that the dragon can take the form of a man once he bonds and he REALLY doesn't care for clothes, I like it even more. Because sweetly arrogant dragon-shifters who aren't into covering themselves are HILARIOUS.
And since I'm talking about hilarious things, I must point out that a massive dragon being inordinately proud of the various things he horks up is EVERYTHING. Halki's pride in his castings (and how he wants them stored in their home, as close to Nalle [his greatest treasure] as possible) gives me the best mental picture and I am so here for that.
Anyway. Enough about Halki and his nudity and vomit-bricks. We also have Nalle (who, for the record, is not a nudist). She's mainly determined to snag a dragon to help her rescue her brother from another tribe. While she certainly does that, she doesn't expect said dragon to be the aforementioned clothing-adverse individual who barfs up treasure-bricks for their home.

This was an ok read, definelty not my favorite from this author. The book itself was super short and felt rushed making everything very surface-lacking depth. I did enjoy the contrast in the story of men being the hot commodity rather than women. I would almost be scared to be a man in their worried, unless I was the heroines brother of course. That man has no problem being the only (literal) stud in town. It was just a really weird story-which given what I’ve read before is shocking. I think with some more development and length I would have enjoyed it more.

This was a quick read. I felt no romance between the hero and heroine. Basically he saw her as a kid, his parents kept them apart, and then she accidentally enters his dragon cave.
It was pretty hilarious because there were very few men so every time he appeared in camp with the heroine there were vulgar comments.

I haven't really read any book by Amanda Milo before, but was pleasantly surprised by her take on this world of dragons and human mates who need men.
Which, your girl feels on a personal level right now y'all.
While this was a funny, and entertaining read I noticed I had one pet peeve here.
We are lead to believe that the h is living in this tribe, using primitive equipment, hunting, skinning animals for clothes, etc. (you get it, it's living wild) Anyways, I kept noticing the main heroine in the story making comments, or references that just didn't seem to...fit with the setting? If that makes any sense.
I could very easily be losing my mind, but I kept getting taken from the story when I noticed her referencing something that didn't seem to fit with the whole Tribal Primitive perspective we are given. I kept imagining modern day folks (and part dragonesque folks) play-rolling at a primitive reenactment fair or something; somewhere where the peoples mindsets just fit better in modern times rather than keeping with the time and lifestyle the book suggests.
Does that even make sense...eh oh well.
Just wondered if anyone else noticed anything like that.
Even so, it was an enjoyable read and another fun addition to what is quickly becoming a series I am GOBBLING up.

Doesn't Fit With the Other Books
I hoped that each book in this shared world would at least have kept the dragon lore the same throughout. But this is completely different. I don't like how men are treated, because rape is rape and shouldn't be joked about. The scene with her brother was completely out of left field and didn't do any thing good for the book. And his brothers were treated even worse. The more I write this review, the more I find myself getting disgusted by this book. I don't think I will read any more of this author's books in this series.

I keep forgetting how fucking demented Amanda Milo is. Too many things in her books are just plain wrong. She tries to be "edgy" but it just has a creep factor of 100000 since she writes like a mentally retarded child.

What a Book !!!
If you love funny , laugh out loud sort of books , then this is for You !!! From the 1st paragraph , I did actually laugh out loud, and all through out this amazing book !!!
In this world of VENYS , there are few men. The men they do have are sometimes traded to other tribes , but more often stolen, or abducted,- depending on which side tribe has it has not .
On one such raid , Nalle 's brother is stolen . Taken by one of the tribes of women who are not known for their sweet treatment of abductees. Nalle wants to get him back , but she will need help......
Many of the tribesmen and men tell takes of Dragons.....
A Dragon could certainly help Nalle rescue her brother. And after talking to one of the oldest men of her tribe available, she sets off.
But when she encounters the Dragon, he is NOT how he was described to be !!!
Not at ALL !!!!
Halki is a Dragon who is alone in his face , minding his own business when he is interrupted by a girl . A girl who smells familiar. From way back when he was just a youngling. He had thought about her often , and now she was Here. In HIS cave !!!
What happens next is a funny, lighthearted read . Through horny tribeswomen , lewd satyrs, and cooked geese, I thought it was brilliantly done !!!!

Another great book
So this is the second book I believe that's been released in this series (and the second one I've read) and it was great. This series is a collaborative effort of some great authors I love and so far this series is just adding Tommy love for them. This book while in the same world/series definitely has this authors style and some elements that are unique to itself. Which in a lot of ways makes since since our heroine and her dragonman are from a different region than the first couple. This is obviously romance (both hot & sweet) but it still has those elements of adventure and suspense to it as well. It also had some hilarious moments that had me laughing my but off. I freaking loved Halki (the Dragon man) he was hot, funny, and unique in a lot of pleasant ways ( and while he was a dragon man I appreciated that he was kept unique and different and not just a bland/average human type conversion but had pieces of both really well blended). Balls was strong, and quirky, relatable but still unique in her own ways. This is just a great book and series and I can't wait to see what's next; would recommend.

Another great entry in the new series, Venys Needs Men.
Both this second entry by Amanda Milo, and the first book by Naomi Lucas are so well written.
Nalle our heroine, a member of the North Plains tribe is determined to capture a dragon
to protect her village. With guidance from Yatanak oldest male left in the tribe, she sets out.
Oh boy, what a surprise awaits Nalle when she finds her dragon, Halki.
The world building continues in this book as we learn a little more about the humans and dragons
living on Venys.
Loved the snarky humor between the characters, and Nalle’s coming to the realization just how much that strong, dominant dragon means to her.
Took me to the end of the book to get the A.K.A. Dragon Hooker reference in the title.
I must be slow or have a mind in the gutter! All around a perfect read.

I kind of misinterpreted the blurb here. I was expecting a kind of Mad max style, “dragon actually” mash up. Which I was really excited for. But this was pretty short, lacked the humor of a G. A Aiken book as well as the desperation of Mad Max. Overall there just wasn’t a lot to it.

Venys needs dragonmen!
What a joy to read this story of Nalle and Halki, her Great Crested Merlin shifter! Her North Plains tribe has many ongoing problems: Hooking up with Halki proves to be just what they need. It’s a well-told tale, seasoned with a hefty dose of humor. I loved every minute of it!

I just loved reading Halki and Nalle’s story. Wonderful humor and engaging characters. The world building was fascinating and exciting. I would highly recommend this book and this series. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Each a standalone book but all in the same world.

This is the first book I’ve read in this new world. And I loooved it! Halki is the sweetest and hottest dragon mate. I loved how he pursued Nalle! This steamy book was the perfect length, too! As usual, Amanda had me laughing out loud quite a few times in this book. Thanks, Amanda! 5++ stars!

Fun, pleasant, short.
Its good. I guess I'm just used to the longer stories from her Alien series that I love. So there wasn't a lot of growth in this one. But it was fun and steamy! Her brother was weird; still trying to wrap my head around that one.

I took a bit of a break because as you can see I ~read two Christina C Jones audiobooks in between.
But the issue is ... this book just wasn't as engaging for me?
Which ... I was sad because I expected to love it so much - what with the introduction from the ~previous book. AND that Halki had basically been smitten with Nalle since they were children.
It was cute - them learning each other ...
Although I kinda felt Nalle was a bit intolerant.
However/also there was SUCH FOCUS on Halki's casting.
[Yes it's kinda cute how obsessed he is with it - gross, but cute... so like there I get Nalle's ugh...]
But I got to about like 3/4 through and just skimmed because I wasn't interested anymore and just wanted to see how it ended.
Bleh - I was torn between one and two stars and I HAD started with this as 2 stars but writing all this out ... I didn't care for this one - I probably should've just DNF'd it.
It just ... wasn't for me.
It got too ridiculous - a little was fun and ok, but then it was just repetitive and too OTT?
It's hard to explain. Because it was also slow and dragging.

Quick reads, Venys Needs Men books will give you a brief glimpse of the lives of different women inhabiting parts of Venys and their dragon encounters.
I found both of Amanda Milo's contributions to this series very funny, entertaining and kilig.
In To Desire a Dragon, we read about Halki and Nalle who were introduced in the first book. Halki is a very young dragon and the brother of Book 1's Kalos. His very sweet and almost innocent nature was a refreshing change from Book 2's Kaos who left a bad taste in my mouth.

All my favorite writers, all in one beautiful universe.
Book 1
A little more whimsical than I expected.
Nalle, lives in a village where there are not enough men and the ones left are being pillaged. She goes to find a dragon to help retrieve her stolen brother and gets more than she bargained for.
There are a bit of inconsistencies. Halki, the dragon, starts to speaks the native language from nowhere, his penis with the tentacles make no sense and Nalle's brother is into S&M.
At least it wasn't an immediate lust at first sight.
I didn't like the vomit/regurgite casting thing going on, or the milk feeding..at all.

Over the top
This book is really over the top and will not be for everyone. There is a lot of humerous sexual innuendo involved in this story which you could probably figure out from the title and the prologue.
It is a fun book to read. Nalle goes hunting for a dragon, believing them to be "knee-high". What she finds is way bigger than that!! She also finds out that he has some pretty disgusting habits that he is proud of.
If you are in the mood for something to take your mind off of reality for a little while then give this book a try.
