Uncharted Territory

B.N. RUNDELL KEEPS YOU COMING BACK FOR MORE IN BOOK SIX OF THE FAST-MOVING STONECRAFT SAGA.
Their dream and goal had always been to explore and discover land unknown by white men. The land that lay within the territory known as New Spain or Spanish Louisiana, land that had been known as French Louisiana and that had only known the presence of Spanish Conquistadors and a few French Voyageurs or Coureur des bois. But it was the land of mountains that stood as the pillars of Heaven itself and held many natives that had never seen the face of a white man nor that of a man of color.

But now, with their new wives, Gabe and Ezra set out to discover and explore the mountains and wild country to the north. Land that was full of mystery and tales of the natives that told of indescribable wonders. Into this journey of great discovery, came a raiding horde of Blackfoot that sought to kill, maim, destroy and take captives from lesser tribes, like the Absáalooke, Agaidika Shoshone and the Bannock. When Gabe and Ezra make friends with the Shoshone, they are caught up in the war between the peoples and the price that is to be paid, maybe more than they are willing to give.

They are determined to defend their friends, and turn aside those that would wreak havoc, but what can two men do against so many?

Bob Rundell – Stonecroft Saga Bk 6 – Uncharted Territory – Reviewed 6/10/20 – Read 6/6-7/20
When does making friends lead to trouble: when a warring tribe attack!!!

Gabe and Ezra have decided to take their wives and continue their exploring of the unknown land to the north of them. What they did not plan for was an earthquake and warring tribe to attack them. The group has just crossed the Elk River, and Ezra is convinced that he needs to help the poor pack animals by lightening their loads. To do this wonderful deed they would need to stop and take their nooning. Afterward, the group continued until late in the day when they reached the headwaters. They decide that this would make a great area to camp for the night. The men took off to replenish their meat supply, taking down a young bull buffalo.

During the night Gabe awoke to Ezra saddling his horse. Knowing that Ezra has the gift of precognition, when he softly said, “we need to get out of here” Gabe did not question him. When they reached the ridge near where they had taken the buffalo, Ezra told everyone to dismount. Hearing thunder, but not seeing anything in the sky, they hit the ground. Everyone dropped to their knees as the earth started shifting under them. Looking back, they saw that the place where they had camped, the area had opened, and the stream had disappeared. Now the story begins…

What did I like? Golly gee, what is there to not like! These boys are my friends now and I love following them. But then trouble follows them without any of my help. They are strong men that take the bull by the horns on anything they set their minds to do. With the love of their women, they are now back to exploring and being amazed at the wonders of God’s creations. I love the bond of brothers between the men, and of course, their wives are sisters, so they fit in beautifully. One of the things I love about Bob’s books is the gentle way that he shapes the faith of the men, without those thoughts being forced on the reader. Beautifully done, and now they are sharing that faith with their wives.

What will you like? An extremely well-written storyline, that reaches out and grabs you. Not only grabs you, but you will not be able to lay it down! The content is emotional, and endearing with lots of action, adding more unique characters, an awesome mystery, and a heartbreaking thread. The best part of Bob’s book is the descriptions, precise and descriptive, to the point of seeing everything in your mind’s eye. Live through the earthquake, watch the buffalo, hear the bird’s cries, see the village, go on the hunt for food, and feel the saddle under your behind. All of those will come alive for you as you read. Another wonderful and beautifully written book of the Stonecroft Saga’s! Available now.

As Gabe and Ezra continue to wander and explore, his wife is killed by a kidnapper. Her death moves Gabe to want to go back to St Louis and reconnect with his only surviving family member, his sister. What makes these stories good is not the story line but the descriptions of the people and the lands of the far northwest in the ealy 1800's. Looking forward to the next story of Gabe traveling down the Missouri River with only his friend Wolf, a tame wolf. Should be interesting.

Gabe and Ezra head further west exploring new country. They meet up with more of Dove and Otters people. While the men are away on a hunt renegade Blackfeet attack the village killing the old and taking the women prisoners.
Spoiler Alert: Why only 3 Stars while I expected it I still wasn't happy with the author killing off Otter. At least so far Dove is still part of the story.

Wow, this one got me in the heart!

Great story continues with kidnapping and murder from one who should be a protector. Spiritually, you don't know how to truly trust God until you are alone. This one has great sorrow but, as vengeance is the Lord's, death is not at Gabe's hand. Very deep. Highly recommended for all readers.

Continuing adventure unlimited

The saga of Gabe and Ezra, now both married, continues with excitement and thrilling challenges and adventures of them. Their exploration and the marvelous sites, sounds and vistas they view are extraordinary. The novels help readers understand the primitive nature of the land we call ‘Western Frontiers’ and those who traveled them.

Enjoyed this book. It has been a long time since I have found an interesting book with out any language or adult content but focused on the storyline. Not having that did not detract from the story in any way, actually it was better, IMO. It does have some detail accounts of fighting and death, but it is true to the time period.

A new Beginning

We enter a New Year with trepidation, leaving behind us the year 2020 as a great threat to all our great country has stood for. I imagine that the characters in this story may have felt the same.

Great Adventure

Mr Rundell consistently delivers one enjoyable read after another.
He is a a real storyteller that does not need profanity or sex to tell it. The violence he uses is more non-fiction than fiction for that time period.

As I mentioned on the previous books in the series, it’s been a fun western read. I enjoy the adventures with the Native Americans. This has been a refreshing break for more serious books that I have been reading.

Up to the standards set by the previous Stonecroft Saga series.

With likeable characters and enough action to keep your attention, book 6 of the series does not disappoint. I am looking forward to Rundell's next book.

Best of the series!
No longer just a seemingly early frontier fairy tale, this one of the series about the two friends since childhood will excite readers, create anticipation and really tug at your heart strings! Russell's writing always entertains and educated readers about the ways of life on the early frontier in the most entertaining manner.
