*Audio book review, and boy did i ask for a refund as I could not finish it*
I do not know where to begin, as I was having some mixed feelings about the book. Why was this classified as a LITRPG I will never know, because it touched so lightly on the rpg part as it was so vague. It should have been better if it played out as a portal fantasy book. I got the feeling that the author was trying or forced by his editor to make it into a litrpg because that genera is super popular right now. The concept of the world and the character set up into the new world was interesting but the MC, antagonist and side characters were not.
The MC was...was strange to say the least, as he starts out as an old veteran of the Iraq war and is feels like he is burned out ("I seen things man, war was hell!!" kind of guy). Well, that is how the author wanted, but he comes off more like a loser who was an AVERAGE solider who did "bad things" with plenty of guilty feelings and boring flashbacks (WHICH LEAD TO NO-WHERE). Before he gets to his new world, he dies like chode, not even saving the "damsel in distress" and gets "chosen" for his new life. Tells you something about the world he is heading, when the gods like to pick a dumbass like the MC .It goes downhill from there for the MC character, as you find out that he is the most unlikable character ever. He starts to feel like a cop who shoots random dogs because he is afraid of barking chihuahua, which is funny because he CAN'T keep his yap shut and antagonize the main bad guy. People are practically, begging him to shut the hell up but he just takes his raging boner out in the hopes that his enemies will take out their unit for a measurement. Also, the MC is...dumb...as he wonders why he (a level one), is sent by the main bad guy to go into super dark and dangerous jungle to fight a god damn DRAKE to die. You know the the story is going off the wagon when later on the antagonist tells him that he wanted to kill him(the MC) and PLANS to kill him by sending him out on more suicide missions. So when the bad guys offers him a new mission, the MC says "Sure, I will head the rebel camp and kill them" when we all know the camp is just innocent people who are hiding from the dictatorship regime and he does it all because he plans to free this girl HE JUST MET and spoken with TWICE.
So, the Main bad guy...he is no Hitler but he is a definitely a Stalin... without the humor...i mean more so. The bad guy tells the MC, (30 seconds with meeting each other) that emotions and humor is not allowed in him messed up city. Which is funny, because the bad guy displays a lot of (Bad guy types of) emotions; you know the usual like arrogance, lack of empathy, finds freedom and Independence humorous as well as mentally and physically torturing his subjects.
Lastly, the side characters. Here is where I think the author really shines. His descriptions on all the sexy ladies are really well done as he got part right in fantasy harem bit in this genera. Don't get me wrong, i think some of the side characters' personalities are bland or okay, but lets just say the author should be writing "articles" for hustler or playboy.

I feel bad, because the MC does have an amazing class (taking the tributes of his killed enemies) and an awesome weapon ( half axe and half blaster rifle) and I can only imagine the adventures he may go off to. Nope, non-of that but you get to take down Sadam on desert storm part deux. Okay, so you are expecting some nice back story and history? NOPE. Instead, you get no real information about the world or the system as there is no tutorial and no one teaches him about the politics, culture, or anything in the 5 minuets he gets spawned into the city. They just tell him to shut up, follow orders, don't piss of the gods or do what Kim Jong-un tells you to do. So he makes a lot of dumb mistakes as he doesn't know how to loot or upgrade or know how to act with people; which gets annoying really quick. Also, he is lucky as he kills his young drake or something; which oddly enough just gives him ONE god man level? Seriously, he goes from level one to two from killing an apex beast?
This story is basically the author's masturbation symphony. As he made it for his gratification, an excuse to rant about the american government, war and the injustice of the world like an emo teen.
My advice, pick this up for the sexy bit but skip the rest.
I am done.

Fun read if you like LitRPG and harem. Both elements are present and important, so if you lean one way or the other, maybe avoid. MC has military background. That was great too and loved world building and descriptions.

3 stars, I did like it to a point but it was all over the place at times and tried to do everything and in the end did not really do anything. It maybe a start to a okay series but not sure if I want to continue with it...

Gamelit harem with adult situations
UPDATE below 2020-10-10
Interesting premise with a defined (for the moment) villain. This first installment introduces the characters and sets up their struggles as they work on leveling up, find and build a base, and start work on supplemental skills to help them survive. The action was well done and believable and came across seamlessly. The special attacks, too, had a computer game feel to it.
This appears to be the author's first book, and it appears to have joined some writers group -- though what that means beyond others writing the same style of story, who knows. My first quibble was the MC saying an E-4 was nothing special. A decent E-4 can keep a butter bar from getting lost, hurting him- or herself, and more importantly, keep the rest of the platoon from getting hurt (the sergeant can't be everywhere).
The third quibble was the MC kept calling the women he cared about "bitches." At least one other reviewer found this abrasive, too. This may be an attempt to sound hardened and jaded, or even lower class inner city, but it falls flat. The women are tough and each has a growing and discernable personality as the story progresses. However, the MC is supposed to be a combat veteran, and he's shared life and death fights with these women. Bitches comes across as being cavalier about people he's supposedly growing to love. I say this even though the MC early in the story objected to a servant being offered for his sexual pleasure for completing a quest. At the least, the women he is bedding (or planning to bed) are fellow warriors and sisters in arms. So while he's respectful, the women are seen as "other." This is clear at the beginning when he meets his buddy for drinks. After their initial insults to each other, it's clear they are friends and respect each other. The MC and the women work together, but they aren't his partner or comrade in arms or even his mate - even though players can't get pregnant; they remain in his mind as his bitches. Maybe, and I'm hoping here, that will be part of his growth in book 2.
There were a few abbreviations used in the writing, for example, AF. It may be stylistic, but it's very informal, almost chatting (bragging over beers?) rather than as professional writing. And the abbreviations may also be trying to convey a certain toughness, but the story doesn't need it. The writing is sufficiently skilled without the hyperbole. Hopefully, that will get fixed in book 2 as well.
Overall, the story was entertaining, so I give it a cautious 4. When book 2 comes out, I will check things out.
UPDATE - October 10, 2020 =====================
The author reached out to me and at the author's request, I reread the book. Just finished it this evening. My concern over the use of "bitches" was apparently shared by several other readers and the book has been amended to remove it from the book. Now I give the book a solid 4* and have added the sequels to my wish list. Recommended.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for a fair review. I did it on YouTube and will leave it linked below. This review will feature key points I think are important to highlight.

Plot: Clear and easy plot. You can break it down into 4 parts; The introduction and reincarnation, the assimilation into the new world, the initial quest, and subsequent continuation of the story. The story was very well executed and had no major issues. I enjoyed the RPG elements and was happy with the amount of information they provided at any given time, I appreciated the methodical introduction of the world that got mixed in with some good high octane action and I loved the story once the proper quest began and the female characters become prominent parts of the story. The plot progression was great. I do have a small complaint. The RPG elements were very prominent at the beginning and then stopped being so upfront midway through, it's not really a bad thing, and it kind of makes sense in the context of the story but it was a bit jarring to have these elements not appear for a third of the book and then make a return near the end. This is definitely a nitpick on my part.

Characters: Great! Our MC is Cade, a down on his luck 30-something veteran with a really tough life. I really appreciate him and was happy when he managed to work past his problems after reincarnation. I enjoyed his interactions with the other characters a lot and though he was a bit dramatic when it came to the villain it was all within reason and enjoyable. Vormer is our antagonist and a real asshat of a guy. I like a villain that you can't help but hate and Atlas Kane delivered with Vormer. He sucks and is horrible and its great. We can't forget about the harem; in this book we get to meet three lovely ladies. We have Ketzal, a gorgeous purple-skinned demon with a heart of gold; Minda, a white-furred beastkin with a vivacious outlook on life and a great personality; and we have Satemi, a rugged but sexy amazon full of honor and conviction. They all have great interactions with Cade and some tender moments with each other. The characters are really the best part of this book!

World-Building: Very interesting stuff in the world-building department. Atlas Kane crafted an interesting fantasy world with interesting lore to it; that all the known gods wanted a playground and decided to make a world to use as such. The flora and fauna are interesting, the introduction of the void creatures was also good and they all worked great. I really enjoyed the RPG elements, the addition of the character and weapon creation was wonderful. Well executed world-building for sure.

Fan Service: Very high-quality smut. Except for one word at the end haha. I enjoyed the sexual tension developed between Satemi and Cade, the bubbly relationship between Cade and Minda, and the respectful/appreciative pining that we get between Cade and Ketzal. Great stuff!

Amazing story

Liked the unique world setup where there are multiple dimensions and the game lit aspect is done well. Only thing I wish for the next book is to discuss more about Cade’s benefactor/fan Pablo mentioned in the beginning and explain more of Atun and his origins and why he is helping Vormer

Good read. Different from harem stories that I had read so far.

I seldom give any book book 5 stars. I hope you don't have a sensitive ego. I have giving books 3 stars and been chastised by the author. Anyway you book was original, thought out and with a slight bit of sex but not overly done. I will gladly read sequels of this anticipate more of this series👍

So so

For 70% of the book, the mc went from one bad situstion to the next. Definately grimdark. The last 30% was survival and occupation building. The mc ended the book at level 3. Why be gamelit if you level twice and most fights give no xp? I might read book 2.

Good book

The book was good over all left a few questions here and there about choices made, the last of the book also starts out somewhere else and makes me wonder where the author is going with it as it's set up for the next book

Very very meh book. Another bland book with militaristic main character. Small scope. Main plot revolves about ee recreational activities of main character or thinking about recreational activities. Litrpg and town building elements are thrown into a mix but feel neglected.

This is a new fantasy-isekai (teleported/reincarnated to another world) novel series that accentuates the sexual relations of the main character, Caderick, and a lot of unneeded profanity. Yes! I think the author is immature or has low emotional intelligence that shows in this first volume of the Chimera King Series. The first chapters are hard to follow and understand (plot holes and lack of reasoning behind actions/occurrences.)
Because this alternate world, Antinium, has Beast-spirit-folk, it also has magic and special abilities. It is strange that a military man, Cade (short nickname), is jittery and complains about everything because their martial training and vast experience should have toughened him up.
The "Monsters", Beast and Spirit-folks presented are somewhat unique/diverse as are the extensivequantity of professions (jobs) that the people in this Antinium World can choose.
Because the writing is a little choppy, filled with sexual innuendos and profanity, well, it could be a lot better. The illustrations are top notch. I think that this "story" could have been a better manga/comic story, with it's little to no plot lines, arcs and character/world development.
In this first volume, Cade and his harem retinue decide to explore and re-create a village/town place of their own.
Aparently the Chimera King series has 3 volumes. This first volume has 300+ pages with 30 chapters (so about 10 pages a chapter, makes it a rather shallow story).

Good Read

Kade is a broken war vet. While down and out, he loses his life trying to protect a beautiful woman. He is chosen to be reincarnated on a new world. He chooses an unusual classification of character to be. When he arrives at the new city, he senses that something is rotten in paradise. Quests, beautiful woman, and danger ensue. I like action, humor, and lust/love. I look forward to the next book.

MC has a chance after death to be reborn in a world with gamelike system. MC chooses a character class that lets him add abilities of his slain foes to his own.
Soon he discovers that the city he starts in is under the control of a bad guy.
In the wilderness he finds allies.
Good read if you dont mind the harem aspect. I am always taken aback with antromorph/furry stuff. But I like litRPG stories where the MC gathers more abilities.

Adventurous and intriguing read!

A thrilling and interest read, with a unique premise and vibrant but deadly world!

The game mechanics of the world are interesting, with basis in established rules, but with their own unique classes and twists that make each character interesting and fun to read about.

Looking forward to the next book!

The writing itself was alright, nothing spectacular but nothing too distracting (except some of the dialog was kinda cringe and awkward at times). This book was about survival, with constructing a camp from scratch and crafting for new goods. I hope there's less of that next time and that the story moves on.

Good read.

There is a lot of potential in the book, but it is a little rough, really needs some more editing. It read alot like a fanfic but it wasnt bad. waiting for the next in the series to see if the author polshes some ideas and themes.

Was good.

I loved this book but hated some parts of it. Not enough to make me stop reading but enough to bring my rating down a stat. I will however be reading more in the series because i want to see what happens next.

Thoroughly enjoyable romp

Great wee story with interesting characters and an interesting world. A simple enough system that doesn’t over complicate the general story and some adult high jinx will have me looking for more.

Enjoy 😁

Spawn camping

The MCs start in the new world reminds me of spawn camping. I hate spawn camping. I was very happy with the story of this book and look forward to reading the next and the third. If you're on the fence please give it a shot. Well worth it!!!

I usually do not care a lot for books base on or styled like a game.
But this was fairly good. The post was decent. The characters were interesting and strong. The action was good. The story is ok. I will read the rest of the series.

I'm listening to the audiobook version of this, and I'm already onto book two.

It has a great and totally immersive storyline that is definitely for adults only. The narrators compliment each and do an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. I wish there were more books in the series.
