Three full-length books, and a follow up short story.
A childhood pact that turned into a curse - featuring three best friends and their wedding disasters.
The Substitude After Megan discovers her fiancé cheating, she calls off the wedding… only she hasn’t told her mother, and it’s four days before the wedding. She gets drunk on the plane ride home and spills her guts to the horrified, yet cute passenger next to her.
When the plane lands, the flight attendant threatens to have Megan arrested if she can’t walk off the plane, so what’s a nice guy like Josh supposed to do? He helps the woman out, but when he has to carry her through the terminal, he tells the worried onlookers that she’s his fiancée. Only he hadn’t planned on her family hearing him, and now he’s the substitute groom.
The Player Blair has always had a plan, and now she has the chance to make partner at her law firm… as long as she’s gets married. Not a problem since she and her long-term boyfriend have been talking marriage. Only she had no idea her boyfriend’s cousin was her one true love from law school—the player who broke her heart.
Garrett totally screwed up when he left Blair, but now that fate had put her in his path, he’ll do ANYTHING to win her back. Even if he stops her wedding.
The Gambler Libby was the only one to take the Wedding Pact curse seriously, so she’s planning a wedding to a man she doesn’t really love, counting on her Prince Charming to save her. Only when she’s at the altar and he hasn’t come, she realizes she needs to save herself.
Noah was a charmer who never lacked for women in his bed, so becoming best friends with Libby was totally out of character. But as her wedding grows closer, he realizes that Libby’s not only his best friend—she’s the love of his life. When he tries to stop her wedding, fate intervenes, but now he has the chance to prove to Libby they belong together. Will she take a gamble on love?
The Valentine Blair has always had a hard time trusting men, and her occupation as a divorce attorney doesn’t help. But when Valentine’s Day rolls around, Blair suddenly wonders if true love can last forever.
This is without a doubt one of my favorite all time rom-com series. It ticks all the boxes for me, plenty of humor, some banter between the characters, family commitment, loyalty, sassy amazing women and swoon worthy sexy men. This series is about three friends that have a bond as strong as sisters and their tales of finding love. Each of them is due to marry, but end up with someone different than their intended groom. Some will say it’s fate and some might say it was the curse that was bestowed on them years before. Each bride has a unique story that will have you laughing out loud with the witty lines but also break your heart at times as well. There are plenty of extraordinary secondary characters, like Grams who will no doubt make you snort with her antics. Collating these books together in a boxset set is brilliant. This way you get to go from one book straight to the next and feel like it’s one huge brilliant story. There’s even the bonus Valentine novella at the end to round the series off. I have no doubt once you’re finished, you’ll need to jump straight into the Bachelor Brotherhood Series as well. I fully recommend both.
I loved all three stories in the Wedding Pact series. I especially loved Libby's story. She is fun and the kind of person you cheer for and want to see happy. There were a lot of twists and turns and much love and passion. Loved all books in the series and the pact the girls made when young. An adorable series and a must read.
I have read all the books of this series and the fact that they are now all available in a box set is amazing!!! These stories are heartwarming, funny, and so incredibly romantic. I found myself laughing out loud more than once and connecting to each of the girls in their own stories. Each book follows 1 of 3 best friends and their adventure in finding their one and only. When the girls were younger a "curse" was placed on them and now they are realizing that the "curse" may be coming into fruition. If you love rom/coms this series is for you! I can totally picture each of these books being turned into a Hallmark movie.
This is a boxed set of the BEST Rom Com series I’ve ever read! Three best friends all dealing with the pact they made together. Lots of fun, twists and turns, and some serious belly laughs!! Nobody does Romance like Denise Grover Swank, it’s real life craziness, family in your business, romance and love that make want to fall in love. Buy this boxed set and get ready to fall in love with these characters.
The Wedding Pact Box Set (The Wedding Pact #1-#3.5 — Denise Grover Swank (96 chapters) April 29-May 27, 2021 [Kindle Unlimited]
Includes a short story at the end, The Weddings Pact #3.5.
I read this as a set, but over a period of a month. I haven’t read this kind of rom-coms in quite a while, but I have read this author before so I thought I’d give it a whirl.
Three girls make a wedding pact when they are pre-teens. Each will attend the others weddings; each will have a disaster wedding, end up wedded by 30 years old.
I will give a very brief summary (you can look at my full review for each book under the actual title,) of each title and the overall rating at the end.
I read this as a set, but over a period of a few days. I haven’t read this kind of rom-coms in quite a while, but I have read this author before so I thought I’d give it a whirl.
Book #1 — The Substitute. 3 stars Megan is the first of three friends who are tangled in weddings that may not be ideal. Megan is not getting married but she hasn't told her parents. In fact, she is on her way home to her wedding with no husband-to-be, until there suddenly is one. A great story with some sexy bits. Three stars.
Book #2 — The Player. Blair is getting married, no matter what her friends believe. Her career requires it...yet, she feels no passion for her husband-to-be, until she feels passion for an ex-flame. What is she to do? Push it aside and bury her feelings to marry someone she doesn't love? Or to risk everything for someone who makes her feel truly alive. Same formula as last book, but somehow stronger. Like this one better too. Three stars.
Book #3 — The Gambler. Libby is the third and final friend to get married. She believes that her night and shining armor is going to rescue her from her marriage at the alter....what happens when he doesn't materialize? Libby has to take matters into her own hands; in her escape she lands back into the arms of the only guy who really understands her, but will Libby chose friendship or love? Three stars.
Book #3.5 — The Valentine. Blair still has her attachment issues, shoving the ones she loves the most away, especially Garrett. But can a little non-Valentine Day magic help Blair to see the real vs. the imagined? Short story. Three stars.
All four stories were entwined but different with each other. They can be read alone, and out of order. All have HEA. However, the stories do tend to build upon themselves. All are really sweet but all have very naughty sexy bits in them.
I’m not a naughty bit kind of reader anymore, so I skipped over those parts. Otherwise the stories were well constructed and unique enough that each one carried on well.
Megan and Josh's comedic beginning turns into a sweet story, but Josh has ulterior motives for helping her, and it's fun to watch and see if he chooses his business or the girl. When it comes down to the wire and all is revealed, it's worth it. P.S. Grandma is a hoot!
THE PLAYER:
4 STARS
This was my favorite story in the book. Blair seems hardened and practical and she's marrying a man she doesn't love because it appears the logical choice. Her one true love reenters the picture and stirs up her emotions and intends to stop her wedding. She has to decide if she'll take another chance on the sexy man that broke her heart or stick with the guy she could live without.
THE GAMBLER:
2 STARS
This was my least favorite story of the book as far as the two main characters were concerned. I liked Libby's role in the other two books, but I didn't enjoy that she set out to marry a man on purpose because she wanted someone else to step in and stop her wedding. I didn't feel a love connection between Libby and Noah. My favorite redeeming part of this book was the two grandmother's antics. They were hysterical.
THE VALENTINE:
4 STARS
I guess Blair was my favorite character in this series. I truly enjoyed seeing her softer side emerge months after the wedding. Her fear of loss during this installment over a misunderstanding touched my heart.
Gram was my favorite character. A spunky 70+ year old that made me laugh so hard I cried throughout the books!
Megan and Josh - married after 4 days of knowing each other and were so perfect for each other.
Blair and Garrett - they were lovers in law school and she pushed him away. So not long after he slept his way through campus and life for 5 years until fate intervened. She was marrying his cousin. But they were meant to be together.
Libby and Jake - he was a confirmed player. She slept around quite a bit herself. They formed a strong platonic friendship in book one. In book three they got married on a whim in Vegas.
I love series books, I love them even better when they're funny, the characters -including secondary -are enjoyable and engaging, and they keep you entertained as the Wedding Pact did for me. I have to say I enjoyed Libby and Noah's story the most as I really liked their characters. Blair, from book 2, personality was a bit to severe to like for me, but I still enjoyed the storyline. If you want to get away for a few days and have some fun, this is the series to do it with as it's a fast and funny read.
All three books are funny. The one I loved best was Libby and Noah's story.***(Spoiler Alert)*** Their time in Las Vegas reminded me of my husband's and my journey to Reno, including almost running out of gas by Susanville. We had our affair in a storefront as a crazy woman mowed pedestrians down outside. This was Thanksgiving 1980. Unforgettable day for so many reasons!
Ok so the first one was good, like a 3.5 but I kind of hated Blair
I wasn’t looking forward to the second one and I basically didn’t want to read it but I read it anyway because usually when u acc read the book u start to like the character but no I still hate Blair
And I think I was looking forward to the third one the most ever since like midway through the first one and it didn’t disappoint but I still hate Blair cos she’s such a bitch
Okay, I should have done the review before I read the beginning of Kevin's story because omg is it good! Anyhoo, all three stories were fantastic and I was able to forget about this screwed up world and lose myself in each one. Every story has its own unique experiences with each couple and I couldn't have asked for better! Sorry, I really need to read about Kevin!
I loved the friendship between Megan, Blair, and Libby....all from different backgrounds but friends since childhood. Even when they had disagreements, the one constant was that they loved each other unconditionally. And isn’t that what we all strive for in life? DGS amazes me more and more. Great series!!!
This was a really enjoyable read with just the right amount of angst and a whole lot of humour. We were able to follow each couple's story from both sides and although Blair tested my patience I was left satisfied and looking forward to reading the Bachelor Brotherhood spin off series.
I read a lot of books, 158 so far this year. Without a doubt, this is the best box set I have ever read. Quite often the first book is great and the they fall off, however this set just kept getting better with each book, the last on the series is maybe the funniest book I have ever read. Get this set and enjoy.
I really enjoyed reading these four books written by Ms Swank. I loved that all 4 books focused on one main character along with her best friends. And each book tells a love story with a happy ending and ends up with some unexpected weddings. I am looking forward to reading more of Ms.Swank’s books.
I enjoyed all these stories but I must say my favorite was the last. It just seemed to ring more true even though it was the most obvious. It also made me laugh and cry th most.
Good stories. The character interactions and dialog are fun. But the insecurities the characters have that lead them to sabotage their relationships get a little tiresome.
These books were good. They are about 3 best friends finding and fighting for love. The mishaps and misteps. The family, friend involvement and drama. With laughs for everyone. I would recommend them for an easy read with laughs along the way!
The story lines were clever. I enjoyed the books. But I would just like to clarify how clean this book is since I couldn’t find it in the reviews when I was looking. There are descriptive sex scenes, so keep that in mind. And there is a crazy nudist grandma.
These books were so awesome! They were funny, relatable, charming and loving! I fell in love with the characters especially the grandmothers. Must read!
Could not stop reading...I have never laughed so hard in my life. So many times I was just trying to keep it together, especially with Nana, Gran and Knickers. Libby's story was hilarious and tore me apart as well. You will not be disappointed.
All enjoyable. Stories told well. Interesting and fun twisted relationships. Three very different women yet very close friendships. The men that love them and the men that just want them. Figuring it all out is fun and heartbreaking and heartwarming.
This was a Super Reading Experience , I did not get any housework done and went to bed late. Was Happy to read All 3 Friends forward thier Ever Soulmates. LOVE IS COMPLICATED BUT REWARDING LONG TERM . GREAT BOOK
But a bit too whiny in some places. The characters were great though, especially the guys who were actually more likeable than the women. They were too unaware to understand the plots!
This was a caused as a "hilarious rom-com," and it truly was both hilarious (and a little naughty) and a set of three romance novels. There were many times I laughed until I cried. A truly fun read!
Super funny.. loved how the stories were entwined.. tells you how much friendships are important.. love wins every time and how fate plays a role. Just a perfect weekend read!!
