This one didn't excite me. I loved certain aspects such as the prayers and the characters talking to God. BUT... everything else...

The story was told but not shown. I can't even tell you what the characters look like. If I was told I don't remember. While the story had potential I just didn't feel anything when the characters interacted with each other.

Answer to Prayer

Enjoyed the book and characters. Ended on a happy note. The only negative was that the story wasn't unique enough. Very familiar plot.

not my style

This story didn't work for me on any level. I did have any interest in the HEA for them. Th Epson was just a whiney, spoiled brat. There was a lot of scripture, which I don't necessary mind. I didn't like the constant internal mental prayers.

The mind is a battlefield where wars rage on for years. Secrets never stay buried, lies are exposed and fears live on. This certainly is true for Blake and Taylor. A choice made when they were teenagers produced years of pain and consequences. A child thinks his dad is dead. The dad thinks his son was miscarried. The mother lied out of fear that their child would be ripped away, put up for adoption, if she didn’t lie.

This is a heartfelt story about living with the ramifications of that one fateful choice made years earlier. It’s a story of second guessing, of loss and of collateral damage. But, it’s also a story of hope, of freedom gained and of redemption. Many will think that the redemption is for Taylor for lying. And yes, it was for her. However, it was for Blake too. He promised to love her forever, goes off to college, graduates and gets in ministry…. never did I see him try to keep in touch with Taylor. He left town for college and never looked back. Blake may not trust Taylor, but she wasn’t the only one to disappoint. His promise to her was a lie too. He never tried to follow through with it.

As you turn the pages, you will see how God plays a pivotal role throughout their lives. You will see how all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. It won’t be easy, but overcoming sin never is.

👁OBSERVATIONS and WONDERINGS:

… Love this advice from a ministry partner to Blake:
“And if you can’t live your faith out in your life, you have no business being in the ministry.”

... Perfect title for this book. Taylor prayed the same prayer for 10 long years, never giving up...

... Blake let his guilt rule him. He allowed his guilty feelings of that wrong choice control him for years. Yes, Taylor was taken out of state to give birth, but she moved back to their hometown. Blake may have thought about Taylor, but never tried to deliver on his promise. It seemed that promise ring had little value. And then, when he learns the truth 10 years later, he can't trust her. Maybe if he'd kept his promise to her, he would have know that truth years earlier. Yes, both needed redemption, not just Taylor.

… Kept wanting to know what happened to Taylor’s mother? Her role in Taylor’s decision to lie was pivotal, but she pretty much is unseen afterwards. Also does Taylor know where her dad is? Did he just disappear and was never to be heard from again?

… What about Blake’s parents… did Ernie not know about Sam? They lived in the same town and Sam would have been six when Ernie died.

One Faithful Prayer, Faithful Love Series, Book 1. A story of young love between two teenagers that gave into the temptation of sex before marriage. Blake was planning to go to school to be a preacher and be used where he was needed. Taylor did not want to ruin his dream in life when she found out that the seed of sin they planted had taken form as a baby. Being so young she had to follow her mother's choice for her if she wanted to keep her baby. Another sin was done in lying to the one she loved that their baby had died so soon after finding out about him. Her mother moved them away and went to live with her father. Her grandfather was a great influence on the young girl in that he said she first needed to repent of the sin they committed and to love her child and raise that child in the Lord.
Ten years later, Taylor has gave up things and worked hard carrying the guilt of lying to her first love about the baby, and to her son Sam about his father. When Blake is asked to come back to his hometown to help in the local church youth group, he finds out the secret that has been hidden for all these years. What a great shock to receive! But, instead of staying and taking his responsibility of being a full time father, he thinks his responsibility to start more churches in another state was his calling and he left abruptly because he was scared. I am sure Taylor had been scared for the last 10 years of how things would work out but she prayed her prayer that all things would work for good to them that loved the Lord, in his own time.

Taylor and Blake were two kids in love who made a bad decision one night when they were unchaperoned at Taylor's house. Ten years later Blake, a church planter, returned to town to help his friend, Taylor's pastor, with his church's youth ministry for a couple months. He is stunned to see that Taylor has a 10 yo son. This story deals with forgiveness--often a difficult thing for people to do. I enjoyed this story. Honestly, there wasn't a whole lot of romance since most of the book was about Blake and Taylor working through their past choices. I completely believe that God loves and fully forgives His children for all of their sin and I don't feel we should withhold forgiveness from others. However I thought Blake's fellow pastors were fairly nonchalant about his child out of wedlock; scripture says that teachers are held to a higher standard and I think that the pastors should have been more involved in counseling him and that he should have been relieved of his duties--not forever--but until he worked through his serious problems. That is why I am giving the book a 4.5. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this series. I was entrusted with a copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This was my second book by Mr. Chapin and it did not disappoint! I love how the characters were woven together throughout the story. I think we all dream as kids of meeting “the one” in high school and marrying them. This story hit on that dream, with a few more twists. One Faithful Prayer spoke to me regarding something I have struggled with quite a bit, where does God want me and what are His plans for me?

It is human nature to want instant gratification. We want that quick answer even when we are talking to God. Sometimes it’s not that easy as a quick “yes” or “no” but requires us to have faith that God will answer our question/request in His own timing.

Overall, this was such a good read and kept me interested in what was going to happen next. No negatives to mention. I especially loved the fitting Bible verses used throughout the story as they brought me comfort as well.

I love how this author tackles real life dilemmas in story form and shows them being worked out through a life of faith in the protagonist. In this book, the topics include unwed pregnancy, the impact of lying, coming face to face with your past, forgiveness and second chances. I also love how the story so beautifully displays the main characters figuring out Gods will step by step through prayer and Scripture. This gives the reader an inside view of how to walk through life’s challenges with God.

My favorite quote was in chapter 7. “God doesn’t have bad timing. He has perfect timing. Difficulties in life always work in layers. You have what you can see up on the top layer. Then you have the ‘under the hood’ stuff where God works.

It's hard for an author to find a new scenario, but this is one I hadn't seen on "Hallmark"--Taylor and Blake went to far one time, and she lied to Blake after she moved away telling him she had miscarried. Ten years later, when Blake returns to the town he discovers that he has a son, Sam. It was difficult for him to trust Taylor after a ten-year lie, and difficult for Taylor to feel worthy, but it worked out, with the grace of God. I felt some of the scripture quoted was a little too lengthy to keep the story line moving, but it didn't keep me from reading the entire book. It was well-edited, and I give it four stars.

T.K Chapin’s book One Faithful Prayer:
When Taylor hears that Blake is coming to Lincoln City she knows she has to tell him the secret she has been hiding from him. Blake is happy to be back in town to help his friend, but nervous about seeing Taylor again. TK will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next in this story. You will feel God working throughout this inspirational book. I had the honor to review this book for a honest review. I couldn’t stop reading this book and I would give it a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

This story of Taylor and Blake captured my heart. The decisions made left them both with damaged hearts. Aylor’s mother thought she was doing a good thing taking Taylor away and Taylor thought she was freeing Blake to pursue his dream. But they both bore the scars of this unfortunate decision. As sometimes happens in real life, they got a second chance. That didn’t come without challenges and forgiveness on both their parts. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.

Good Christian book. To hide the secret that your dad doesn't know about you for 10 years is a long time. Definitely need divine intervention. Wyatt was pretty understanding about Taylor not telling him about Sam. Juggling the split parent routine with Taylor and Wyatt living in different cities was a challenge some divorced parents have to deal with. Ups and downs along the way. In the end, Wyatt loved his son so much he gave up his job in Phoenix and moved to be Taylor and Sam and marry Taylor. Fairy tale ending :)

A Favorite

This is definitely one of my favorites by Mr. Chapin. The issues prevail in our world today, even among Christians. He addresses the parts that love, forgiveness, and prayer play in dealing with the guilt of past sin and moving forward in our relationship with God. His approach is practical, not preachy. I never fail to enjoy and appreciate whatever Mr. Chapin offers!

Ten Years to Find

Life becomes difficult with one wrong choice followed by a lie. Taylor and Blake had their lives planned out but it took ten years to make it work. Regret, distance, and fear cause problems for the characters in this story, but their faith brings them together after the lie is sorted and trust is earned. I received a complimentary copy of this book and have chosen on my own to write an honest review.

This is the first book in the series that I have read and found it interesting and intriguing. I immediately liked the main characters as well as the secondaries. The writing was smooth and the transition between POV's was well done. Great editing. The faith theme in the story enhanced the relationship between the main characters and the absence of steamy sex scenes was a welcome change.

A great story featuring forgiveness.

The only thing capable of overcoming sin and deception is Gods love for us... this story emulates how great His love is for us. The author has done an amazing job of highlighting trials, fears, and wrong decisions and morphing them to successes, triumphs, and victories. Faithful love is a true winner!

The story is well written, God centered, haunting, but a bit too sweet, because in the reality people don't handle things so easily.
All the people are sinner and they could get peace with God.
Taylor and Blake are young and only one mistake could change their lives, their dreams and plans for future.

Great story for young people

It's hard to imagine that two people so young could have such faith. I loved this book from beginning to end. Blake and Taylor's story should be read by every young person but even an old woman like me can enjoy it! Keep on writing, TK, and we will keep on reading! Oh such faith!!

God rewards faithfuness

Good storyline with lots of. Bible based encouragement. The characters were two dimensional and their struggles and feelings could be felt. I heartily agree with Blake's emotional turmoil concerning his situation with Taylor. Quote from pg. 167: "You work all things together for good, and will wait upon You for that good now ad forever"

A story of everlasting love and God’s faithfulness. Blake and Taylor are high school sweethearts. Blake plans for them to marry after Taylor has graduated high school and he’s in seminary. Plans go awry after unexpected news for Taylor. A story that shows how God answers our prayers but not always in the way we expect.

A deep love stutters and takes a detour

This story presents people in love who must grapple with realistic issues and consequences. Choices have results and avoiding one set of desires can become a detour through other equally difficult experiences. The characters are believable and live their faith, seeking God’s guidance and leading. Happy endings are satisfying.

Enjoyable

Love the way scripture was brought into this story! Characters were will developed. I did find it hard that Taylor could go through the years of living a lie when she was a Christian but it also goes to show how the devil can blind us into believing it is justified.

Love endures

Taylor and her son love God but something is missing, and that something is introducing Sam to his father. As Taylor thinks about this, Blake, Sam's father comes to town to help at the church they attend. Can Taylor and Blake overcome past hurts with Gods help?
