Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate writes romance with heart and heat.
Called “the dialogue queen” by her college playwriting professor, Emma writes love stories that range from romance-for-your-pants to action-flicks-for-chicks.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually curled up under a heating blanket with a steamy romance novel and her two beagles—unless her outdoorsy husband can convince her to go on a hike.
I picked up a sample of the first book "Sins of a King" and couldn't put it down. The mafia romance genre isn't usually my taste but this hooked me & I ended up buying the series.
Historian/scholar, Barrett, was orphaned and left in the care of her older & emotionally distant brother. She meets him for dinner under the guise of signing estate papers only to find that she has been traded to the leader of the Scottish mafia to settle her brother's gambling debt. Flynn Campbell, the charismatic Scot, owns a hotel/club along with an illegal casino & brothel. He asks Barrett to help him ferret out the employee responsible for bringing drugs into the club, work for him for a year and her brother's debt will be paid. Along the way, they fall in love and manage to build a life in between a kidnapping, murders, hostile takeovers, a crooked FBI agent, the Russian mob, the Italian mafia, and the IRA. You fall into their lives and the lives of their extended family. It's an interesting ride.
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I first started reading this series. The Mafia genre wasn’t something I was particularly into, however my opinion quickly changed as I delved more into this story. The different points of view told a telling story, cleverly interwoven, ensnaring readers alike that will have them coming back for more. This story was edgy, in had me hooked and ensnared from the first word to the last. The passion, the excitement, that danger, the thrill of it all clearly showed that these men would go to the ends of the earth to protect the women they love, their families, and the women, who are the most revered and fiercest queens in there own right, love and love hard, and in turn will make those hard, yet worthy sacrifices, big or small, for the men they love, because in the end family and being there for one another is all that matters.
AMAZING! Five stars is not enough! FANFREAKINGTASTIC FROM BEGINNING TO END! Beautifully written. Every single character has levels of insane depth. This series will take you there from page one. It's everything you want in a marvelous movie. Every single word, chapter and sentence will grab a hold of you and never let go. I cried, laughed and grasped my pearls. This story is angsty, dramatic, hopeful and WTF craziness. So sexy, so tingle worthy and so emotional. I mean ALL THE FEELS! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS AUTHOR AND SERIES!!
The characters in the SINS series are so well written. The story, the dark but unusual mafia world sucks you right in. The sequels just continues the world you never want to leave. Emma Slate has become one of my favorite authors. I'm sad to have to leave Barrett, Flynn, Sasha and Quinn.
What an awesome read. This book kept me intrigued until the very end. Criminal men who learn to love and protect those around them, even through what they do. Their women learn to accept their lives and learn how to stand for themselves and their families. I would highly recommend this complete series to anyone who wants to read an awesome story.

What can I say after reading wreck and ruin I was intrigued to read the sins and boy it didn’t disappoint. Ups and downs love and hate plus crime and punishment. It’s a real rollercoaster I can’t wait for the sequel to wreck and ruin now after reading this collection
I read the complete series as I was hooked from page 1 -2020. I read the complete SINS series. An impressive plot with so many twists and turns involving several characters. Barrett and Sasha were my favourite. I enjoyed how fiercely loyal they were to each other and the unique love they shared. Flynn, was one force to reckon with. Quinn, inspite of all she went through she became stronger. True Love conquers all.
What an awesome six book series. So glad I got the box set so I didn't have to stop reading. The characters are outstanding and you get drawn into their lives. Excellent.

Be prepared for this series to grip you tight and take you on a wild ride!! Well told story, lots of action, men who will make you short of breath and women who become badass queens.
I got all 7 books and read them back to back. I’m not sure I would’ve enjoyed the series as much if I had to wait between books. I absolutely adored Barrett and Flynn and Sasha and Quinn. I truly don’t want their stories to end.
This series has been one heck of a ride. I’ve had trouble putting it down from beginning to end. I’ve never cried so hard in my life over a book. Everyone’s stories were beautiful and filled with so much struggle.
I can’t say enough about this series. It is absolutely amazing. So so so much goes on you can’t miss a word or page. I loved it. The intrigue and suspense. Drama and death. Loved loved loved it.
One of the best book series I have ever read. Barrett and flynn connect with you from the moment they meet in the first book and you get immersed in their lives immediately. Brilliantly written.
Seven down. Mission accomplished. Barrett will forever hold the title Queen in my mind and heart. After all the rollercoasters, dramas, plots, I’ve decided to reread Tarnished Angels.
