Being a fan and long time reader of Robyn Ryan, I was elated to find out that we'd be getting Tom's story as he was a pivotal character from the Clearing The Ice series. While you don't need to read the series to read this, I highly recommend you do - mostly because I LOVED it. Risky Move is a part of the spin-off Tampa Suns Hockey series and Ryan continues to bridge the two series with this story. In this case, the series is further connected with Laurens' niece Cassie at the front and center in this story. There's a slight forbidden element to this story, but mostly in the mind of our heroine.

When Cassie moves to Tampa Bay she's come from a slightly sheltered life, one driven by parental expectations ( her mother) and her own immediate lack of direction. She's barely twenty and doesn't have a good idea what she wants to do, but she's great with kids and the Chadwicks' twins give her an immediate influx of confidence. She and Tom share an immediate connection and she's not sure she can do anything about it.

Cassie has a very active inner dialogue which I enjoyed immensely. She a really well-developed character, if a bit naive at times, but Ryan is a master with story and character development. She quickly feels like a family member but as her circle widens, she learns some lessons about trust and accountability. Unlike the build-up of her relationship with "her munchkins", she and Tom's relationship is a sweet slow burn. As for Tom, he is everything I expected him to be, and more. I loved the trajectory of their connection and how he forges it.

I really enjoyed what this story gave us and it remains apparent that Ryan loves the sport. The teams' dynamics are almost as important as the individuals the story is focused on. Risky Move is yet another stellar romance from Robyn Ryan.

Cassie's taking a gap year trying to figure out what she is going to do with her future. Taking a nanny job brings her into the orbit of her boss' brother and damn...he's a gorgeous doctor! So a slow burn friendship turned more develops and Cassie is starting to bloom with Tom's gentle support.

This is a sweet story of self-acceptance and love. This really was Cassie's journey more than anything and it's enjoyable. The main reason I took off half a star is only because the story meandered quite a bit and I started to wonder where Tom and Cassie were heading. And one little thing - there's not much hockey in this story. Considering that it's part of the Tampa Suns Hockey series, I thought there would be a lot of hockey in it. Unfortunately there's not, but it's not a deal breaker or anything. Aside from those two things, though, I liked Risky Move and would love to read further into the Tampa Suns Hockey series.

Ryan continues to own my heart. Tom and Cassie dig deep into the soul with a sweetness that is fractured yet pure. Risky Move is a journey to find out where life wants you to be. Age is not about weakness. Whether young or old, strength comes from knowledge, life experience and faith in who we find we are meant to be. Risky Move is an ever evolving life lesson that doesn't hold back, because it has a lot to say.

4 star review Risky Move (Tampa Sun Hockey) by Robyn M Ryan

Robyn M Ryan is a new author to me. Although book two in the series, I had no problems following this story. This is a slow burn story that is Cassie Johnson and Dr. Tom Chadwick’s story.

There were times that I felt the story dragged a little but once the pace picked up it flowed better. I was a little frustrated by Cassie’s lack of confidence and self doubt at times but overall I liked the characters.

There is a lot to consider before Tom and Cassie can begin a relationship, after all their lives are intertwined and if their relationship doesn’t work out then things will be complicated on numerous levels.

For me the build up was a tad to long, but that is just my opinion. I found it difficult to connect with some of the other characters but again, that is probably me. I really liked Tom, I loved how supportive he was of Cassie

Although the series is Tampa Sun Hockey, there was not a lot of hockey in this book. This was a story of love, romance and overcoming ones fears and taking a leap of faith and above all learning to believe in yourself.

3.5 Stars

I have not read the other books in this series but didn't feel like I was missing anything substantial. I might find my way back to the beginning to pick up how some of the other relationship have come about. I love the family dynamic that is part of this team. Strong friendships between wives and players.

Cassie takes a leap and jumps into her gap year as a nanny to twins in Tampa where her Aunt lives. She will be living with her new love bugs but her Aunt is just around the corner for support. This is her opportunity to get a breather from her overprotective mother and her father while trying to decide what she wants for a career path moving forward. Tired of being in the middle of them since they divorced all those years ago, she is looking forward to the calm. Thankful for Caryn and Andrew making her feel so at home in their home. Surprised by the thoughts and feelings towards Tom, the children's uncle who lives in the attached apartment.

Tom is making strides in his new career as he finishes off his residency as a neurologist at the local hospital. The extra time spent helping his brother recover from a TBI has certainly put him a step above his peers. Recognized for his hard work, he is offered a position to work along with the Tampa Suns Hockey team as well. Clearly Tom has his life path sorted out, but one thing is missing. He is looking for his soulmate, just like his brother and friends have found. Could it be the beautiful sprite that his moved in to help look after his niece and nephew?

As they struggle with the internal decisions of should they venture into these feelings they are having or not. Tom and Cassie become fast friends and their relationship starts there. Everyone else can see what they haven't agreed to move forward on just yet. Will their age difference cause an issue? Could Tom help her in growing her self esteem and becoming the woman she was meant to be? Could they have found their happily ever after in the same house?

There is lots of emotions throughout this story. Digging deep within to see what you really want out of life. Self forgiveness and finding love for yourself and others. There were a few times where I felt the story was a little long and slow but I did enjoy it in the end.

The Story of Cassie and Tom.
Tom- is a strong self-assured accomplished neurologist who seems to know his path in life. He has a huge sense of family. He has a big capacity to love be it his niece and nephew, friends or Cassie. You can tell is looking for his soulmate.
Cassie-is a young 20-year-old with out a lot of life experience. Having been sheltered by a bitter divorces mother. Her mother has slanted her view on the world. On the other side her father seems to be much more encouraging and accepting of Cassie but realizes that her mother’s negative outlook on life has clouded Cassie’s perception.
Cassie unsure as to what her future is takes a gap year between graduating high school and starting her adult life be it college or work. Cassie is from Vancouver Canada and take a job as a nanny in Tampa Florida that her aunt arranges for her. Cassie’s employer is a player for the Tampa Sun Hockey Team. Cassie is charged with the care of 6-month-old twins Jenna and Daniel. Cassie takes her new job very seriously and easily simulates into the family fold where Tom is the uncle of Jenna and Daniel.
The Story checks off a lot of boxes for me.
 Funny and Sweet Meet Cute.
 Sexy self-assured Hero
 A voice of reason/pushing the couple together- Cassie’s Aunt Lauren (Her story is Book one of the of Tampa Sun’s series.
 Sweet romantic interactions and so many almost moments leading up to the couple coming together.
 The Climate of the Plot where you know that the Hero has the Heroine’s back and truly loves her.
 HEA
This is a great example of a romance novel that gives you all the details of the development of the relationship. Sometimes novels will push H & H right together and allow the relationship to develop once they are together. Risky Moves show us the slow burn these two experiences. While we as the reader see their instant attraction, it takes them a little longer to conclude that being together is worth all the risks. Tom feels like showing interest in Cassie might cause issues in his family also Cassie’s uncle is his best friend. There is also the age difference of 6/7 years that Tom worries will work against him. Tom’s brother is Cassie’s employer which is another possible hurdle. Cassie worries that she is two young and not good enough for Tom. She also realizes the awkward situation that could result if things don’t work out between them. Cassie’s self-doubt plays a huge role in their slow progression. Once they decided to be together and take the risk the story takes us on a whirl wind of their romance. They still have huge obstacles to overcome.
This is labeled as a book 2 I read it as a standalone and had no issues picking up on characters and relationship dynamics. While labeled as a Hockey Romance there isn’t a ton of that, but you get enough of it to feel the chill of the ice. This was a 4/5 read for me. I had a couple of issues with the pace of the book but once Tom and Cassie get together it gains momentum.

I simply love Robyn Ryan’s books! She’s one of the few authors that can actually make my heart feel like it’s being squeezed when I’m reading a really emotional part. That equates to great writing! Granted, I love hockey romance books, but this one has very little actual hockey in it and it was still absolutely fabulous. I was so happy that Tom got his own story. He isn’t even a hockey player. He’s a neurologist! Bonus...hockey and doctors!

This actually story in this book was great. I had hoped for more on Lauren and Dave, which we did get some of in this book, as Cassie is Lauren’s niece. Cassie made an appearance in The last book “Healthy Scratch”. It’s wonderful how Robyn integrates so many characters from the past books in the series. It makes the individual stories flow so seamlessly.

This storyline was kind of unique in that we get the young standpoint again from Cassie, who’s taking a gap year before college. We haven’t seen this “young” perspective since the first book when Caryn was around that age. And we also get the more settled standpoint from Tom, who already has his career well established. 5-6 years isn’t really much of an age gap, but at that point it can actually feel bigger than it is. Cassie deals with that and all the feelings of insecurity, mistrust and inadequacy that have been thrust upon her by her mother rattling around in her head. She’s looking for an escape and trying to figure out her future and falling in love all at the same time. And all the while dealing with generally feeling inadequate and then she has to deal with tremendous guilt over an accident, not wanting to cause a rift between friends or family. That’s a lot for a 20 year old to contemplate. She’s just overwhelmed at times, but actually handles it pretty darn well. Cassie’s character is so easy to love. Read the book to see how this sweet girl deals with life’s challenges. You won’t regret it! It’s a great read!

Two people who know they shouldn't be together, but can't stay away from each other. Tom is a doctor who has a wonderful family and believes he has everything he could want in life. Cassie is a woman who is struggling to find her place in the world. She has just moved to Florida to be a nanny for her aunt's best friend. When she arrives she is stunned to see a gorgeous man waiting for her. Once they find out the connection, the decide to be friends and nothing more.
I really liked the slow burn of their relationship. They truly became friends before anything else and got to know each other more deeply because of it. The relationship she had with the kids, also his niece and nephew, was wonderful. His relationship with his family and friends was also great. I especially liked how steadfast Tom was once they decided to be more than friends.
My only complaint is the storyline with Amelie. I felt like there was more going on during the babysitting situation. It felt like the author was leading up to something and then dropped it before really resolving it. I wish I knew more about that because I felt like Amalie was going after Tom and did something/everything she could to make Tom break up with Cassie. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next in the series.

*I received a free ARC of this book, with thanks to the author. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

“Risky Move: (Tampa Suns Hockey), is the first book by Robyn M. Ryan that I have read. It is a romance novel that is innocently written. It has no foul language or explicit scenes, however it does cover a few scenes of unwanted male attention to the main character and mature subject matter.

Cassie is a young girl of twenty who wants desperately to seek out her independence and find out what she wants to do with her life away from her overprotective mother. She takes a job in Tampa, FL, far away from her home in Canada, as a nanny for one of her aunts friends that has twins and needs a little extra help. What Cassie doesn’t expect is to meet the doctor in the family, Tom, the brother of Andrew, her employer. Will Cassie find love, independence and herself in this story? I would encourage you to find out by reading it.

I usually go for the paranormal or supernatural genre of books but this book made me reevaluate and expand my genre of books. It is tastefully written and is a good clean romance with a few twists and turns along the way. I will definitely read more books by Robyn M Ryan.

4.5 Stars for Risky Move
This is the first book I have read by Robyn M Ryan and it certainly won’t be my last, I loved this book and even though this is book 2 in the series I had no issues following the story. What I will say is this is an extremely long book so please be prepared for that in this slow burn romance.
Tom and Cassie’s life’s are intertwined and that means there should be a line that shouldn’t be crossed but we have no control over our feelings and sometimes how ever hard we try our heart will always win over our minds. If Tom and Cassie start something and it goes wrong it will effect so many others, so is their love worth a shot or will they think of others before themselves........
This is a story that will touch you on so many levels, it’s full of love, romance, friendships, family and loyalty, it’s about taking a leap of faith and trusting your heart and learning to believe in yourself.
Looking forward to reading book 1 in this series as well as future Tampa Suns Hockey Novels.

I love romance novels that give me the full picture. I love when the hero and heroine don't jump right into bed with each other. With that said, while this book was decent it just was way to long. It kept dragging on and on. Cassie and Tom both felt the connection between the two of them. But instead of talking it out and seeing where it could go they put each other in the friend zone because of all the combination relationships. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen. When they finally did decide to pursue a relationship I was so happy! That's when I felt the story picked up. Though I will admit I still had my issues, especially after we hit the climax. Cassie and her complete self doubt bothered me. The fact that she willingness took all the blame, even when she saved him, bothered me. Amelie really bothered me. Cassie's mother bothered me (especially as we see in the end she was happy for Cassie.) I would have loved to read about when Tom and Amanda finally met and that interaction. I just felt like there was so much that could have been skipped and so much that could have been elaborated on more. Please don't get me wrong. I enjoyed this couple and getting to go on their love story with them. Tom was an amazing man and I especially loved how he stuck by Cassie's side the whole time. I just wish it hadn't dragged on so much. Real life has a tendency to drag on. I want to enjoy my escape in a story. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

Really sweet story. This is a great romance, but it's also about a young girl discovering herself and working through low self esteem. Cassie is young and not really sure what she wants to do. She takes a gap year to spend time with her aunt and be a nanny. She meets Tom who is a young doctor and the uncle to the kids she watches. The connection between Tom and Cassie is instant. Cassie is young, but very mature so she worries about appearances and other things as far as her job is concerned. The story is sweet with low drama, low angst and more about Cassie and Tom developing a relationship and Cassie learning about herself, what she wants to do in life, and how to be Cassie in a relationship. She is also trying learn on her own without her mother's toxic views. There are a few moments that had me holding my breath and I wanted to slap Amelia and have her face the consequences of her actions. I felt like she got off too easy. Really great read. Loved how close everyone is regardless if they were related or not. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.

I received a complimentary ARC - early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.

This was the first time I read this author but wow I was impressed. I loved the story and I loved the characters and I loved the length of this story and how the characters really grow in this story.

This is the story about 20 year old Cassie who moves to Florida to nanny for a friend of her cousin. She meets the friends husbands younger brother, Tom, a 26 year old Neurosurgeon. This is the story how the two fall in love and face lifes trials together. It is NOT a story of instalust or love but more about a man who feels things for this younger woman and her him, but who take things slowly as they get to know each other and fall in love.

Along the way Cassie grows up and decides who and what is important in her life and sees who is worthy to be her friends and who is not. She learns what love, life, forgiveness and what friendship really means.

This is a VERY long book. 70+ chapters but it was also really fun and I really enjoyed every moment of this story.

Four and a half stars. This is a very good story. This is my first time reading a book from this author and I’m glad I chose it. Cassie is a very relatable young woman and not really as immature as her mother thinks she is. And Tom, where can I find this guy? He is incredibly sweet and understanding. I don’t very often cry when reading but there was a part that my heart was breaking right along with Cassie’s. This is an uplifting tale with many positive characters dealing with some realities of life.
I was also concerned about the length of the book, but it moved along very nicely and in an understandable way.
If you like a good romance with some intimation of sexual activity, this is a good book to choose.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Authorsxp and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

Cassie is buckling under the pressure of over-expectant mother. Her flight instinct kicks in and she accepts an offer from her aunt to move to Tampa with the added bonus as a job as a live-in nanny for the twins of a hockey player and his wife. When she meets Tom, the uncle of her new charges, she experiences an intense attraction, but there are a lot of reasons why they shouldn't get together, and a whole lot more why they can't work.

Cassie & Tom's romance is a slow burn romance where their relationship slowly grows from friendship to more. Tom was an amazing man & a pretty decent human being overall. His support of Cassie is unwavering and sweet. We also get a chance to watch Cassie's transformation from a hesitant, unsure young woman to one who confidently makes her choices and plans without being afraid of her mother's reactions.

My only complaint is that I found the book to be quite long. Though the chapters are short, the story dragged a bit until Tom & Cassie finally decided to get together. From there, I really began to enjoy the story fully.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Cassie is taking a gap year when she starts a job as a live-in nanny to cute twins. Tom is her employers’ brother and her aunts’ best friend, and these two are attracted to each other. Will these two take a chance on a relationship, or will they decide things may become too complicated? This is a well written story which is filled with emotion, family dynamics, insecurities, self-doubt, and love. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

This was my first novel of Robyn's, so I initially felt like I was 'outside the circle' as it felt like I should have known the characters in the book (this is when I looked up RMR's back catalogue and read a few blurbs, heh). The feeling left after a while as I settled into the story.

I enjoyed Cassie and Tom's story, although parts were slow at times with almost too much thinking in their heads. Cassie seemed sweet, but she had a lot of issues with family, confidence etc to deal with. Tom was pretty perfect off the bat - considerate, understanding, mature. I suppose that's what you want in someone holding his position.

The babies were adorable, although I saw the disaster coming a mile away and still felt ill when it happened.

There is also a lot of hockey happening, yet as someone not into sports, I didn't find those sections boring.

NB I received an ARC of this novel.

All about Cassie and Tom!

Cassie Johnson wasn’t ready for college so she took a gap year to work for friends of her sister as a nanny and be near her sister and brother-in-law. Cassie met Dr. Tom Chadwick when he came to pick her up at the airport since she was going to work for his brother and sister-in-law as their nanny. Cassie is going to use the year to decide what she wants to study in college.

Risky Move isn’t centered on hockey but centered on the relationship between Cassie and Tom. Overall I like the book but I did feel as if there were many points in the book where it could have ended and been a complete story but it felt really long to me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Otay y'all I really like Tom and Cassie my only problem was the story felt really drug out for over half the book. They both have a insta connection but fight it because of her being the new nanny and him being the little brother to her employer. They each have there on internal battles that they have to deal with. This is definitely a slow burn but I really did.wnjoy Cassie and Tom as a couple and they had some super sweet moments.

Great story about a girl, Cassie, who moves to Tampa to be a nanny to her aunt's friend and co worker. Not a bad job, she loves kids, but when Tom is sent to the airport to get her, she can't believe her eyes, he's a hottie! Tom is a neurologist and lives in the guest house at his brothers, and he's here at the airport picking up his brothers new nanny, and she's beautiful, and he's attracted to her, but she's the nanny, so she's off limits.....or is she?
Follow along and watch their attraction grow, I enjoyed it. While it's a long book, the chapters are short. 4 1/2 stars for this one!

I love a slow burn romance with some great characters you immediately fall in love with. Throw in a bit of sports in the background with some drama and I am definitely in. I enjoyed this romance. Cassie and Tom were quite likable and I loved the connection they had. This is a read that is all about the emotion and as such, it delivers plenty of feels. My one complaint was that things bogged down and when that happened you had to find the strength to push through. Of my own accord I am posting a candid review.

Cassie is Lauren's niece.. She comes to Tampa while trying to figure out what she wants to do college wise and is going to babysit Andrew and Caryn's twins. Tom is Andrew's brother, the neurologist. When Tom picks Cassie up at the airport he is taken back by how beautiful she is.. While she is a few years younger than he is, he doesn't care but he can't go after his niece and nephew's nanny, his friend's niece. Nope can't .. But over time their attraction keeps growing and they really don't want to fight it. Cassie has decisions to make though and Tom knows he can't influence them.. CAn these two make it all work?

The story was on the lengthy side and I really thought it was cool to actually see their relationship develop but then all a sudden it just jumped and so much was left out. . I did enjoy it overall and now look forward to going back and reading Andrew and Caryn's story

This is a slow burn between a man and a woman that is off limits for many reasons. There's an age gap, she's his brother's kids' nanny, she's the daughter of a friend.

Although the pacing of this story is slow, I really enjoyed it because Tom and Cassie got to really know each other and develop a real friendship and relationship before exploring the romantic side. Tom is older, wiser, more experienced, and he supports Cassie completely as she tries to figure out who she is. He never pressures her, and he lets her learn to make her own choices and her own plans for her life now that she's not under the watchful eye of her mother.

I really enjoyed this book.

This is the first book that I have read by the author and I enjoyed it. It can be read as a stand alone and has a HEA. I am sure I would have gotten more out of the secondary characters if I had read the previous books, but I did not feel as if I was missing anything.

This is a sports adjacent romance novel. The main characters do not play for a team, but are connected to those that do. I love how the characters got together and then had time and faced a hardship together and didn't break up. That made me happy.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars was that the internal monologue of the characters was all italicized. And it just got to be too much as in with most stories quite a bit is the internal monologue of the characters.
