A big YES!!! Now THIS is the Ms. Johnson I've been missing. The one that takes you to church throughout the story. That preaches and teaches and PRAYS. That knocks that mustard seed faith back into your soul. That reminds you that God can do anything but fail. That motivates you to get back into the word faithfully. And brings the scriptures that are always timely. That suspenseful backdrop was the perfect setting to drive the message home. Yes, you need to read this, especially with this pandemic going on (loved how she eased that in there) and see if you won't start believing He can do it.

I really enjoyed this book. You get a lot out of this book drama, suspense, learn about mental illness and an education on fasting and praying. Lakisha Johnson has done a great job with this one. It is a page turner that keeps you wanting more. The story is about Karis and Darius your everyday couple who is doing what they do to survive. Unbeknownst to them someone wants to Karis' life. We also learn that as a couple they attend bible study and church together. They learn about fasting and prayer. This book has a lot of great information on educating you about fasting and praying. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Lots of twists and surprising turns in this Christian romance!
Darius and Karis Toney have been happily married for 7 years and now the enemy gets busy to destroy and devour.
But Karis is a fierce warrior and when her marriage as well as her life is threatened, Girlfriend prays first and throws down second! She holds her husband accountable for his stupid actions as well as the women coveting the life she has. Love this woman!
This book is packed with suspense but also with more than that: a wise pastor, a faith-filled church and some of the most beautiful and heart-tugging prayers I have ever read. Awesome story!

Covet-19

Just like Covid-19, having covet is dangerous. This book lives up to the title and deals a lot with mental health. This is the 9th book I've read from this author and its nice to see something new like suspense. Well done!

I'm speechless about this book because so many people out there are suffering from mental illness. I for one know what's it like to suffer from that and many of us thinks it's joke please take this seriously. To be honest besides the profanity it's a great book.

Book Name: Covet

Genre: Fiction

Summary: Karis (pronounced Car-ris) and Darius Toney has been married for seven years. Their marriage isn’t perfect, but they’ve made it work. They’re active members of True Vine MB Church, she’s a photographer and he owns a tire shop. Things are, well, they are good.

Until the day, their life becomes the object of somebody’s obsession. The only downside, they don’t know who it is. This person, in the darkness has a yearning, a desire to possess something Karis and Darius has and will stop at nothing to get it!

My Opinion: Covet is a fast moving tale which brings light on many topics, a couple who are not doing so good, the mental aspect of living and faith in God. This is such a fast paced story that has a very well built suspense, it's so magical and at times it's quite heart breaking. The book has some triggering parts, so it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I am sure someone looking for a dark and original story will love it so much. I got to know what actually covet is through the story, the language and storytelling is raw, quite deep yet harsh at times. It's definitely a great book because you never know what's ahead! Correct!?

Good and Bad: I loved the concept and central idea of the story, it has faith, worship and belief. Most importantly I could see prayers which I really loved.

My favorites from the book:

I loved Karis so much and really think she is an impactful character.

Target Audience: 18+ audience who loves thrilling and fast paced stories are going to love it.

What to expect: Thrilling rollercoaster and expect an engaging plot.

Final verdict: Go for Covet, it's something that darkens and lightens up at the same time, it's so unique and uncertain.

Rating: 4 /5

This book is a deeply moving story of love, loss , faith and emotions which is wonderfully penned down by the author. The story covers love, relationships, mental health, abusive relationships and so much more.
Karis and Darius have been married for seven years. Their marriage is not  perfect, but they’ve made it work. They’re active members of True Vine MB Church, she’s a photographer and he owns a tire shop. Things are, well, they are good.
Until that day, their life becomes the object of somebody’s obsession. The only downside, they don’t know who it is. This person, in the darkness, has a yearning, a desire to possess something Karis and Darius has and will stop at nothing to get it .
The narration is so perfect which makes a grip on the reader and a suspense and mystery throughout keeps you hooked till the end.
Characterisation is also very  good there are very few characters and the story revolves around them and all are come out very well.

Language is also very simple and lucid so it makes it easy to go through the book and  I read the whole book at one go.   I recommend this book to everyone and am looking forward to reading more from her.
Overall an interesting and fascinating read.

I enjoyed reading Covet by Lakisha Johnson and her book has so many great twists and turns! Covets main characters, Darius and Karis Toney, are a happily married Christian Couple and Karis is pregnant. Everything is going well in their lives until deceptive people enter their lives. Someone wants what they have and seem motivated to destroy their marriage. They are obsessed with Darius and Karis and publicly stalk them and eventually, they face the real possibility of death. I also love this book because it gives you the feeling that you're in church and listening to a great sermon. And it gives a great description of the daily struggles that Christians experience. This book could also be placed in the Mystery Genres of Novels and Lakisha Johnson does a great job of keeping the reader interested. I highly recommend this book!

Lord! I am all over the place with this book and that's not a bad thing in this book. It takes a bizarre approach to mental illness but if you've been around any length of time, I am sure you've come across or dealt with someone or seen someone with mental health issues. I have never quite read Christian Fiction like this. The husband was getting on my nerves! It was a combination of The War Room, the church room and a comedy room put together. There was way more Word than I am use to in this genre. The prayers stirred me. I think it was a little extreme but it could happen. I still don't know where I am as I am trying to recover, lol. I would like to read more of this author just so I can get a true feel for Johnson's work. Right now, I feel like I need to recover.

Karis and Darius are happily married, expanding their family and actively seeking God daily. Then, their faith is tested when someone becomes obsessed with destroying their family. Thankfully, they are both rooted in the word and know where to turn in their time of trouble.

Hands down, this is one of the best books that I’ve read so this year. It is totally aligned with the series that my pastor is currently preaching. Which confirms that I’m at the right place at the right time. The books are finding me in order to order my steps AND…it is all backed up with scripture.

I will recommend this book by @kishajohnson, over and over again.

Mind blowing 🤯

Wow! This was an excellent read. I was sure that Katherine was somehow behind all of the things that happened to Darius and Karis, but was shockingly surprised. Tiffany did not stand a chance mentally against Tricia or Karis, but she ultimately had a good heart. She was just easily influenced and ill-advised. I can only hope Karis came down off of her high horse concerning secrets in light of the actions taken in the basement.

This book is about all the test that you go through when you are trying to live right. No matter how much you pray, the devil will do everything in his power to try to sway you on his side. This was a very good book and I highly recommend it to anyone that is trying to get it together and is going through a tough time.

Not how you think

Covet at first glance is like tough looking fabrics that you can't imagine going together but when you see the finished production you are blown away. It does mentally illness justice because you can't predict it just like that. Things are not always as they appear.

Dramatic

Almost suspenseful. Only this author, preacher and inspired Christian. She can take mental illness, kidnapping, murder, governess and other themes to enlighten prayer, faith, hop and, love. I did not watch my favorite television show to finish book. Keep writing author LaKisha!

I had to read this book a second time, because I saw that I marked it as read, didn’t rate it and couldn’t remember what it was about. Once I got half way through I started to remember parts of it and it was still a good read the second time around. The prayers though 🙌🏾, I need to find Lakisha bible study classes.

Family secrets

This is the kind of story that makes one wary of relationships. Karis and Darius had a great relationship but someone is trying to tear it apart. Karis has an uneasy feeling about someone but Darius thinks its nothing.Be careful of those you associate yourself with, because not everyone has your best interest at heart.

Restore and fight!!

Lakisha always brings the Christian Suspense 🔥🔥she’s incredible the way she lures you in then drop the bomb. I felt so bad for Karis and Darius. They were a beautiful God fearing couple that became the object of obsession of a lunatic. 5 stars across the board for me🙌🏽

Interesting Plot

This book was really different from anything I have ever read. The plot was a good one but the story line had some gaps in it. At times it felt rush and it would slow down.

Thoughts

Forgiveness is real. I love how this book was different from the other ones but still Christian. Darius is life. Karris is realistic. She's better than me though. A good read. The twists and turns were nice. But did this author low key mention the Corona virus?

okay but lacking

This book was just okay. Although I am a strong Christian, there were too many pages filled with prayers and sermons. The plot was interesting but it felt like it was written in a rush. There were also typos.

Dealing with abuse

Abuse is something many would rather not talk about but this book tells you the importance of doing so. It further lulls you how the Father can bring you through your pain if only you trust and believe he will.

Twist and Turns

I chose 5 stars simply because thats what Covet deserved. Usually by the end of the first chapter I normally have the plot figured out but not this time. Every time I thought okay I got it now, Lakisha Johnson took it to another level!👏🏾

Wow

This book right here was deep. I have so many different feelings and emotions about this book. The book was a great read as all the other books were. The prayers and the scriptures were right on time. Thank you for sharing what so many people are dealing with. I’m so happy it was a great ending for Karius and Darius. I fell so sorry that Vanessa and her siblings had to go through what they went through. They were messed up for life. Mental illness is real.
