The Do-Over Pact #1

The Last First Date

Rate this book
If you could do it over again, who would you wait for?

Bottomless mimosas, bitchfests, and brunch.
That's what we do on Sunday mornings.
The Lakeside Laundry & Boat Dock Cafe is the quirky sort of place you'd expect to find in a much trendier city like Seattle or Portland-- or at least some place that actually had a lake.
But no. There's no lake, no laundry, and no boat dock but there is a pretty damn good cafe...

Welcome to the American small town of Landsburg and five girlfriends who make a pact to step back, slow down, and get a Do Over on their sexual lives.
From here on out, they're saving themselves for someone special.

It's amazing how fast the Right One shows up once you're done wasting time on all the wrong ones.

Rocklyn prefers her romance reads to be short, cute, and dirty; low drama and a little over-the-top: extra points for growly, alpha heroes with beards.

Originally from the farms and ranches of Central California, Rocklyn grew up in the lap of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those small towns will always be home, but Rocklyn was born to roam.

These days she spends her days exploring America's back roads in her camper trailer, writing steamy happily-ever-afters while looking for internet.

Follow Rocklyn here, on Amazon, find her on social media, or drop by the website (rocklynwrites dot net) and keep in touch when you join the (mostly) weekly newsletter and never miss updates on what's in the works-- and what's working and not in a life full of adventure and shenanigans.

***
And what do I read? Total smut, the kind with over-the-top chemistry that gets characters to lose their minds and their clothes as soon as possible-- they can work out the kinks on the way to happily ever after later!

What a great start to what is sure to be an incredible series! Definitely all instalove and happily ever afters. Reagan and Molly meet when he comes in to her job to "get some wood". Molly and her friends have made a do over pact with each other and themselves that the next person they are with will be "the one". Reagan convinces her to go to dinner with him on a non-date to get to know each other. Their love blossomed from there. Their relationship is very fast moving and incredibly sweet. I can't wait to read the rest of the girls stories!!

The Last First Date is completely safe and is free of any cheating, abuse and drama of any kind. No mention of any previous partners or relationships other than there have been some. Hence the girls making the do over pact.

This was my first book by Rocklyn and I'm so glad my friend suggested it to me, it's exactly what I like to read.

This story besides being a romance with an HEA also is about a group of girlfriends that make a pact to no longer settle for just quick flings and hold out for their "ones". These are the kind of series I enjoy. I love getting invested in a set of characters and getting glimpses of them all throughout the series.

Short, sweet and steamy, exactly what I needed for an afternoon read.

I devoured this book! The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page! . I can't wait for the next. Thanks so much for the escape.

This is the first book in the Do-Over Pact Series. A group of longtime friends, Molly, Paige, Siera, and Abby make a pact. They realize that they all regretted their first time and decide to not have sex again until the find someone they won’t regret. They also have another member of their group, Bailey. Bailey chooses not to enter their pact.

Right after making the pact, Molly meets Reagan. We have serious insta-love and an HEA.

I am writing this review after reading the four books that are out now (Bailey’s story was hinted at, so I’m hoping she gets her own book). While I wouldn’t say these short novellas are super engrossing, they are a fun way to spend a few hours of reading time.

This is definitely a quickie. It hits all the high marks with regard to a nice story, hot spices in the bedroom, clean editing, and characters that are believable. I had a hard time remembering all the characters though because they are thrown at you all at once in the beginning of the story when you're still trying to figure out the flavor of what you're reading. I'm also not that crazy about guys that have this super-imposed need to proliferate (the species). That was a detractor for me. Still a fun little read.

Thr ultimate do-over

Molly and her gal pals have made a pact, no more casual hookups and waiting for Mr. Right. Enter Reagan. What woman wouldn't love a man who respects her decisions without making her feel dumb? Reagan is on a mission to get his ducks in a row to win the woman he knows is meant for him. This is a romantically steamy quick read that didn't disappoint. It also whets the imagination as to what Rocklyn Ryder has in store for thr rest of the brunch club.

“the girl”

The Last First Date is book one in the series The Do-Over Pact by author Rocklyn Ryder. It’s a fast paced read but that doesn’t mean it skips anything. It has everything except the kitchen sink (wink). I absolutely love Rocklyn’s book looks like I’m in love all over again.
Enjoy!!

Reagan meets Molly at her work and sparks fly immediately. Unfortunately Molly and her brunch friends made a pact that means no sex until they find true love. Reagan is ok with this and changes his dating strategy and relocated his business to be with his future wife. Very good story and Lots of flirty banter too.

A light hearted easy read, the plot and characters are okay.. just that i feel the depth of emotions that should be flowing from the pages is lacking,... Some people pack a lot into a short novel bringing it all together, but others pack very little as in this case.

The Last First Date

OTT, super quick read but oh so good! Loved the beginning, middle, and end. Reagan and Molly have major chemistry but Molly has decided to take things very slow. Hope Reagan can be patient with her.

The Last First Date by Rocklyn Ryder – The brunch girls decide that they are no longer looking for flings. The next guy they go for has to be potentially the one, but Molly wasn’t expecting him to wander into her life quite so soon! Fun and fast! Happy Reading!

The Pact will weed out the one's that aren't serious, but what happens when you meet the one that is

The Last First Date is the first book in The Do-Over Pact series about five young women, Molly, Abby, Sierra, Bailey and Paige, who are all best friends and meet on Sundays for a raucous mimosa filled brunch and a lot of girl talk. During on brunch the topic of saving your V-card for someone special and deserving and a whole lot of "if I could do it overs.". By the end they had made a pact to not have sex with anyone that they were not serious about, so "born again virgin". Well four of the girls made the pact as Bailey being Bailey did not. This book is about Molly and Reagan.
Molly went away to school and got her AA (Associates in Accounting) before she came back home and got a job at Landeburg Lumber. They gave her the job of Contract Supply Liaison with the responsibility of dealing with all the contractors in the area, placing orders and ensuring all deliveries. She does want to go back and get her Bachelor's in Business Finance but she can't afford it if she is not working and if she is working then she does not have the time.
Reagan is in town for the summer to help his younger brother Spencer build out his van so that he can take a great vantastic trip down the coast to Baja. Reagan lives a couple of hours away and has his own successful business of building tiny homes that are on trailers. When Reagan walks into the contractor office trailer at the back of Landeburg Lumber he was ready to order supplies for his brother's build but instead he meets a beautiful young woman who takes his breath away and makes him forget his own name. Before he leaves he asks her out on a date but she turns him down but after she gets off work they are getting to know each other over burgers, onion rings and milkshakes. They are both having a good time and sparks are flying all over the place but for Molly she has the pact, "to not waste time chasing guys that aren't going to stick around". When she shares this with him after they have an electrifying kiss Reagan is okay with it. After all he knows she is "the one" and he is already figuring out how to be her "last first everything"

I loved this book and the premise of the pact among the ladies is great. It makes you wonder what you would "do over" in your life if you had the chance..............to many to name but then again if you don't take risks you would lead a boring life. The characters are nicely developed and we also get a flavor of each of the four other ladies and Spencer. Things are going to get interesting in the small town of Landeburg with the "new pact" in town!

This is the first book in a new series from the mind of author, Rocklyn Ryder. The premise of the series is that a group of girlfriends in a small town, who get together weekly for brunch at The Lakeside Laundry & Boat Dock Cafe (the joke being that there is no lake or laundry), get a bit schickered and while none of them are virgins anymore, pledge not to have sex with another guy, until they are sure that he is the one that they will spend the rest of their lives with- a virginity do over.

This is Molly's story. She loves her small town and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. She got an AA in Accounting and would like to go back to school to finish her BA in Business Finance, but can't work full time to pay tuition and manage classes and homework, so she has been working at the town lumber yard managing the office. Which is how she meets, Reagan, who builds tiny houses and is temporarily in town helping his brother build his van into a custom built camper. They are attracted to each other from the start, but Reagan is only in town temporarily and Molly made her pact with her friends. Only Reagan believes from their first non-date, that Molly is his forever girl. Can he convince her that he is the one for her?

Delightful characters, easy banter and a cute story line make this a lovely fast read. I can't wait to read the next book about Reagan's brother Spencer with one of the other ladies (?). Who will it be?
I read an ARC as part of the author's Advance Review Team and this is my unbiased and voluntary review

Reagan owns his own business building tiny homes, but is in this little town to help his brother with a building project. On his way to his brother’s place, he stops at the lumber yard to pick up the supplies needed.

Molly is a girl that was born and raised in this little town. She never left, never wanted to be away from the place she knows as home. Now all grown up, she is the manager for the local lumber yard.

Reagan walks into the office to pick up the order, Molly is at her desk working just like everyday. Once they see each other, there is no denying these two have instant chemistry. A few jokes lead to a non-date dinner. Things between them sizzle even more. After the non-date dinner, the two have a hot moment. Molly stops things from getting any more heated by telling Reagan about a pact she and her friends have made. Reagan wants to know what the pact is about, and Molly tells him it is a virgin do-over pact. Being nervous he will laugh at her and walk away, Molly is surprised when Reagan upholds the rules of the pact.

There is a bit of time that goes by, and a lack of communication between Molly and Reagan. Just when you think there was nothing more to happen, here comes Reagan. He has something to show and tell Molly, something important. The bigger plan is explained, and along with that plan comes a few extra surprises.

There is a lot of fun, happiness and a great happy ever after for these two all throughout this book. It is definitely a read and reread several times sort of book!

The Last First Date is the first book in Rocklyn Ryder's new series The Do-Over Pact. In this book we meet Molly & Reagan & follow them on their road to happily ever after.

Molly & her friends meet every Sunday for brunch at their favorite little cafe to drink mimosas, eat & talk about whatever happens to come to mind. When the topic turns to regrets & what-ifs, Molly's dissatisfaction with her life & some of her early decisions, and maybe just a mimosa or 2 too many, leads her to agree to a do-over pact with her friends. So of course this would be the time she'd meet him.

Reagan is in town for a few months to help out his brother. When he stops at the local lumber yard to pick up his order he's blown away by the woman behind the counter. Now if he can just talk her into going out with him.

The first book of any series is really a tell for me. If it catches me, then I know I have to read the rest of the series. And yes, this book not only caught me but held me there reading until I was done. The main characters are adorable & the supporting cast is very much in the background with just enough of an appearance to introduce them & set up for the next book in the series. All in all, this is a short cute read & perfect for a quiet afternoon's read.

I voluntarily read & reviewed this advanced reader's copy.

In 'The Last First Date', book 1 of 'The Do-Over Pact Series' we are introduced to Molly and her girlfriends. Every Sunday they meet for mimosa morning brunch and girl time at a local cafe. As they enjoy their mimosa buzz, the topic of life's do-overs is discussed. The number one do-over for all the friends is there first time at sex. So a pact is made and agreed to that sex is only to be shared with somebody that they can see a future with. The next morning, Molly meets Reagan at work. He is there to buy lumber for a project that will only keep him in town for a couple of months. While sharing dinner, they discover they not only have a lot in common, are extremely attracted to each other, but share life goals in regards to marriage and family. You have to read the book to enjoy the remainder of the story but I highly recommend doing so. All the characters are interesting and well written. Molly and Reagan are steamy and sexy together. The story flows well and is perfect for a hot quick read. As always with Ms Ryder, I will be anticipating the next in series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"The Last First Date" is the first book in author Rocklin Ryder's new series "The Do-Over Pact". This series centers around a group of girlfriends who over brunch one day, decide that they are tired of having meaningless one night stands. They would rather become born-again virgins and hold out for the man they are destined to spend the rest of their life with.

One thing that I love about this author is that she is wildly creative! She does not follow along with whatever popular trope is currently taking the romance novel industry by storm. She carves her own path and never seems to disappoint! Her storylines always keep me wildly entertained and this new series definitely does not disappoint!

This book is sassy and fun, the perfect length for a lazy day beside the lake/pool/beach, and has just a smidgen of heat that is sure to make even the hottest day just that much hotter. The characters are extremely likable and lovable, not to mention hilarious! It will be a deliciously fun series to read as we watch each girlfriend find their one true love and determined if they're willing to give it up for that man. I'm already looking forward to the next book!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the first book in the new The Do-Over Pact series. In this book, Molly and her friends meet every week for brunch and one week they were talking about a mutual friend who was recently married. The women started talking about how they lost their virginity and they all decided to agree to wait for the man they were meant to be with before they got intimate with anyone else. Molly worked at the lumber yard in the office and when Reagan came in she was attracted to him instantly. Reagan was in town to help his brother make a van into a camper so he could travel. Reagan was known for making smaller homes and when he saw Molly, he knew she was the woman he was supposed to be with forever. Reagan asked Molly out and she agreed. When Molly told Reagan about the pact, he respected her even more, even though he knew they were going to be together forever. I loved this instant love romance. Both Reagan and Molly felt love at first sight. I love how Reagan was ready to do anything to be with Molly and was so sure from the beginning. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Great start to a new series by Rocklyn Ryder. Molly and her friends have made a pact they call a Do over. They are tired of meeting guys hoping that the relationship goes somewhere only to find that the guys only want a fling with them. Molly is determined to find "the one". She wont settle until she does. Reagan has come to town to help his brother Spencer do a rebuild on his van. Molly and Reagan meet when he comes by the place she works at to order lumber. Reagan is smitten from the beginning. He asks her to have dinner with him. The two hit it off right away. Somehow Molly finds herself telling Reagan about the pact she has made with her friends. Reagan is determined to win her over and supports her in her decision. The two are very attracted to one another and soon strong feelings have developed for one another. This is a quick and sweet read with a wonderful HEA. I can not wait to see whose story is next.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

What a great start to a new series by Rocklyn Ryder. I'm a huge fan of hers and this new Do-Over Pact series definitely is already off to an amazing start.

This book centers after a group of friends who are wished they could go back and "Do-Over" their relationships. Most of the friends agree to wait until they are sure their relationship is true. Of course, it's not long until the first one in the group meets her man.

Molly meets Reagan and she is immediately drawn to him. Unfortunately he is only in town for a few months to help his brother. A great story ensues! It's a very quick read but definitely a enjoyable & hot read.

I can't wait for the next book in this series. I'm assuming it will be about Reagan's brother, Spencer, and him being ready to settle down (hopefully with Paige).

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion.
