Dean Wilson’s sister Linda vanished four years ago, around the same time as millions of pounds of investors' money disappeared from the company she worked for.
IS SHE DEAD AND GONE?
Then Dean is charged with assault in a nightclub and Detective Mike Nash's enquiries cause him to reopen the fraud case. Dean is in love with a woman whose family were some of the biggest losers from the company’s collapse.
Events quickly begin to escalate, and soon Nash has several murder investigations on his hands.
Meanwhile Helmsdale police are being swamped with complaints about email scams. Nash needs help. Computer analyst, Tina Silver, is brought in to help.
With the body count rising and forensic resources stretched, Nash realizes he may be dealing with fraud of larger proportions than he ever could have imagined.
Can Nash and his team solve the case before any more lives are taken?
Tiresome. An overly complicated and unlikely set of crimes which, of course, are all connected. Police making basic errors to string the plot along. I really didn't care about this book and was glad to finish.
A thwarted sexual assault - the victim is grateful until she finds out his surname. The same as a woman who reputedly defrauded millions through a Ponzi scheme and along with her alleged accomplice had fled the country with their ill gotten gains. A man who annihilated his family & committed suicide results in an ill positioned workbench revealing a hidden grave of one of the scapegoats from the financial fraud. A solicitor, who finds a discrepancy on his credit card statement is murdered. The initial crime is the tip of the iceberg & further investigations dig up more fraud and murders. To Mike's delight, Jackie Fleming brings Dr. Tina Silver in to see how deep the cyber fraud goes. These are just a few of the themes which weave together to make a clever, intricate visit into the world of cyber security. A engrossing novel with twists and turns throughout, keeping the reader hooked til the final pages.
Dead and Gone is book eight in the Mike Nash series by Bill Kitson. Detective Inspector Mike Nash began investigating two strange cases, one of the email scams and the assault at a local nightclub. Detective Inspector Mike Nash did not know what was happening but needed help, so he called a computer analyst, Tina Silver, to assist in the investigation. The readers of Dead and Gone will continue to follow Detective Inspector Mike Nash to discover what happens.
Wow, another excellent addition to this fantastic series by Bill Kitson. I found this series by accident and am so pleased that I did. The books in this series never disappoint, and I always engage with the characters and the story from the first page. Dead and Gone did not disappoint, and I love Bill Kitson's portrayal of his characters in this book. Dead and Gone is well-written and researched by Bill Kitson. I like Bill Kitson's description of the settings, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Dead and Gone will understand the devastation computer fraud can have on a company and their clients. Also, the readers of Dead and Gone will learn what computer analyst does during a fraud investigation.
I have enjoyed all of the Nash series books but this is my favorite. The team is well balanced and likable. I read the book in one day. It kept me guessing to the end. I highly recommend this book and series.
A frightening tale of cybercrime. No one is safe from fraud even people with technical now how. How easy it is to be conned without even realising it. Great plotting with greedy and needy intellectual characters. The computer jargon lost me a little but it was necessary to show how devious people can be. However, the storyline was completely understandable. With murders to investigate as well as fraud DI Nash needs to pull in some favours as the purse strings tighten on resources. A fascinating and thrilling read. Nash really does think outside the box.
This was a brilliantly intriguing book from start to finish. The writing was up to the usual standard, if not better and makes this book even more interesting to read. It’s great to see characters from previous books reappear and take on roles. Lots of twists and turns along with was it or wasn’t it in this book. Another 5 Star must read.
I found myself smiling and tearful reading this book with its different take on current, relative news. Nash is a believable, likeable policeman as are his staff. Clara Mironova an excellent opposite to Nashs masculine persona. The storyline is always credible but with a twist you didn't expect. I hope there's another book in the pipeline!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down. I will certainly be recommending this book this author to friends and members of my book club.
Another excellent story with a good plot! I think Bill gets a bit too secretive lately when he describes a situation but not who is in it until later! Apart from that they are a brilliant series and I’ve read the first 8 booksin2 or 3 weeks!! Julian notts
A series of incidents that appear to be unrelated lead to some very devious crimes which have Mike Nash and his team confused. Eventually with some outside help they are able to unravel the complicated plot.
I was getting a bit tired of the Mike Nash series but Kitson has really managed to pick things up with book number nine. A pace-y and engaging time thriller that helps the pages keep turning at speed.
Another excellent story by Bill featuring Detective Mike Nash and his team. All the usual good strong characters and a great story line with numerous strands well woven together. Plus a great ending. Looking forward to reading more.
Several apparently unrelated incidents and crimes ultimately gel and a common thread appears. Tina Silver does the work and possibly ends up with Nash?? What's happened to Beccy?
I really like the family feeling of the officers in this story they work so well together.it was a good thing that they recovered as much as they could.these stories keep you thinking that justice does pervail
Brilliant read, again. Couldn’t put it down. Following Nash & co in there lives is almost as interesting as the plots (the plots are sensational). Thank you Mr Kitson.
Loved this book from start to finish and the twists and turns leave my head spinning and my heart ❤ rate up to 90. Excellent read and a twisted of a plot
