I was the girl who loved to swear, speak her mind, and drink rum like it was water. And I never apologised for it. He was my boss; infuriating, arrogant, and so damn good looking it was hard not to fantasise about him. We were two different people, living two ways of life. And yet, I couldn't help but want him. No longer were men in uniform my thing. No, it was now men in suits, with hot tattoos. Like many others in my family, our story isn't simple. I thought I was being cautious, that nothing would touch me. I was wrong. I should've seen it coming. I shouldn't have been so cocky and sure. I just never thought it would happen to me.
Hayden has been keeping a secret from her family, her job. She is a radio/podcast host and although she is not reporting news she is giving advice. When she finds out abut new boss Clayton Cross, sparks fly. Clayton starts off his first day talking to Hayden about her job as well as her attire. What Clayton doesn't realize about Hayden is she beats to her own drum and she is not going to change who she is for anyone. As Hayden pushes Clayton, Clayton gives as good as her gets. Then a moment that Hayden runs into her family has Clayton joining them on a getaway and the more he gets to know Hayden, the more he decides he wants to be more than her boss. Will Hayden cave to her feelings for him?
This was fun, Hayden is mouthy and determined to move her career the way she wants it. Clayton tries to protect Hayden while dealing with her family which has several laugh out loud moments. I wasn't sure where Hayden's story would go and was pleasantly surprised by the direction of this story.
I was expecting insanity, fun and lots of energy - after all this book is about one of the members of the Carter family, but what I got was a chaotic mess - this book was an exceptional let down, there were moments I double checked the cover to ensure I was reading the right book.
The plot strand with the murders just felt like it was thrown in and the scene when Hayden is
After this not sure I'll try any new books in the series or just re-read earlier books that I know will entertain me.
✨ 4.5 Stars! — I'm absolutely obsessed with the Carter Family, and cannot get enough of their crazy antics! Hayden was everything I hope she would be; feisty, sassy, hilarious and amazing! Clayton was her perfect match, and i loved how he embraced hers and her family's crazy. I cannot wait for Maddox's story next, as well as the rest of the second generations stories.
—I only wish that we got an extra chapter/epilogue of Hayden and Clayton, rather than it being a sneak peek epilogue of Maddox. Don't get me wrong, I loved the sneak peek, just wish there was both.
I didn't like the dad, I thought he was kind of an asshole and arrogant. The concept he had with his boys was allowed to date and have sex but his girl wasn't was stupid. I hate that. He was childish and immature, and it wasn't cute. At All.
I did like Hayden, and Clayton, I loved their relationship and they were fun together, I special loved how Hayden didn't take any crap from her dad or any other men or people that talk down on her. I liked how Clayton acknowledge when he made a mistake and he reflected and learned from it.
Recommendation: Yes, I liked it, it had a light toon, and I end up laughing and smiley a lot because of some of the interaction and things that happen, so I can recommend it. It's standalone, so you can read it without reading the others.
First things first; I love the cover of this book! Hayden is book four in the ‘’a next generation Carter brother’’ series. I devoured this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. I love all of Lisa Helen Gray’s books. I always love them more and more by each book released. I love all the books in this series but so far, Hayden is my favourite! I have a major girl crush on Hayden Carter. Hayden Carter takes no messing. She loves her job but she would like to add changes. When her workplace gets a new boss, sparks fly. Hayden and Clayton are very love hate. The question is: will they give in to their desires? The chemistry between Clayton and Hayden is clear to see and I loved them together. I will admit, I thought Clayton was a jerk at times. That being said, his attraction towards Hayden is undeniable. I love all the interactions from the Carters in this story. I love the banter between Hayden and her father Max. I love the Hayden got on with Claytons father. I loved Hayden’s sassiness and feistiness. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.
Lisa Helen Gray will forever be my favourite author! I just love everything about her books! The characters are so relatable and inspiring! The writing is incredible! Lisa's books are heroine only POV, which I adore as it builds anticipation and leaves you guessing the whole way through! Each and every book of Lisa's is better than the last (I just don't know how she does it) and I'm so Friggin excited for Maddox book! Hayden's book was another one of a kind love story, with an edgy heroine and a smart suit hero! The book had me in stitches the whole way through, no author can keep me laughing like Lisa does, forever bringing me to tears! The Carter brothers will forever be my book boyfriends, especially Myles 😍😍. Lisa is Goldilocks when it comes to writing, she always knows just the right amount of laughter and pain needed in her books and she nails it every time! Please go and read these books! Start with the sexy and broody Malik and sweetie pie Harlow!
This is the fourth book of A next generation Carter brother and I’ve read all Carter brothers book. That being said I can guarantee that this book was 🔥! I loved this book and it definitely got me out of my bad mood! Hayden is crazy, and I love how she’s daddy’s girl. Clayton was a surprise for me, he wasn’t the bad boy that I’ve expected. I’ve laughed so hard when it came to his interactions with Hayden’s family. I loved how he and Hayden became a thing. They are something else for sure. Overall I liked this book and I can’t wait to read more of the Carter’s stories. They make everything more fun❤️. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars for the funny, romantic and in the same time crazy story of Hayden and Clayton.
I love Hayden so much! I’ve been waiting for her book since her showdown in ‘Faith’. She is such a badass and to see through her eyes how her family is and get an inside take on her thoughts is everything! The comedy in this book; between her and her dad, Max, I don’t know who is funnier. Ok well maybe Max but because he holds a pathetic yet adorable glint to his humor. Anyways gotta read the books before this one to catch my meaning. And I gotta say, you will want to read them because it will give you more insight to the personalities of all the characters because reading one without the others will make the characters come off as too much. When read all together these books are the shit!
Sério, coisas assim me irritam.

Let's start off with what we know. The Carter's are crazy, especially the father of Hayden...lol Hayden is the type of heroin I like. She is blunt, in your face and takes no shit from anyone. That being said she was a little to full of herself at times and that for me is a turn off. She comes across as a know it all and a little over the top. Clayton in some ways I just didn't get. He didn't come across as forceful and he needed his fathers approval for every thing he did. He couldn't make decisions on his own without checking with his dad if it was okay. Not to say that they didn't have some hot steamy moments. Still over all a good read.
Hayden – Well after spending that last 8 hours crying whilst reading “Soul of my Soul” I needed Hayden’s whit and charm to put the laughter back in my heart. Her story was a true romantic story that I loved from page to page. Max is a freaking hoot and the kidnapping well I was howling whilst reading it getting some strange looks from my family. I am now caught up and a little sad… I will be waiting for Maddox’s book.
This book right here makes me want to go back to the beginning and read the whole series all over again! So well written and you get to visit with all the characters in the series this far. Hayden is a female Max and Clayton fits her perfectly. So entertaining to follow their relationship as it develops! Definitely read this book! And then go back to the beginning and start Malik all over again like I am going to do.
I absolutely loved this book. Hayden was everything I imagined, such a feisty and strong female but that was no surprise with who her dad was. This book made me laugh so much as the banter Hayden and her dad and brothers have is amazing! I also love Charlotte and Reid and can’t wait for their books.
Absolutely brilliant another great book from Lisa Helen Gray. Hayden was everything I expected her to be, Clayton was brilliant he was written just right for Hayden and Max what a laugh, and being overprotective of Hayden made him even greater. Can't wait to read more about the Carter's keep them coming.
I adore the Carter family and couldn't wait for the next generation to start. Hayden is truly Maxes daughter absolutely hilarious and something like her dad a lot of crazy going on. Another must read.
Wow absolutely amazing loved everything about Hayden and Clayton stories from the fun and quirky bits to the more serious of the story another fantastic book from Lisa Helen Gray x
Wow! Hayden is a badass lol Clayton is sweet & funny. Everytime the carters entered the story I was crying with laughter with all their banter & Max’s dramatics
Haden by Lisa Helen Gray Review Rating-5 Quote I love-“Men in uniforms have always been my kryptonite—well, that and tattoos. But I think men in suits is my new favourite look.”
This book was really funny. Hayden is a character that has always made me laugh, I mean her dad is Max so it makes perfect sense. While she was portrayed as this funny girl who wears rocking outfits she was so much more. She was also independent, confident, and caring. What took me by surprise was what she did for a living and how serious she took her job. She is a very passionate person and that shows in her work. This side of Hayden is what gave her character depth. This made her more realistic to me. I really enjoyed Hayden’s love interest Clayton. This is a workplace romance and he is her boss. The two had this sexual playful banter that was off the charts. Those two had me laughing many times throughout the book. Clayton was an alpha male through and through. While he definitely is an alpha male, him like Hayden has this caring side to him. I really enjoyed this book and while it was funny it was so much more. It had an amazing climax that had so much action. I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. This book also had sentimental moments in it that had tears streaming down my face. I loved every minute of this book and could not put it down. Lisa did another amazing job.
