Another plan, another failure. She’s getting pissed and about to burn down the world.
When a member of her new family is the target for an assassination attempt, Kiema and her loved ones go to Earth to put an end to the hit. But murder attempts are the least of her worries when they’re imprisoned on Earth, detained by the Wardens, and almost killed by a jealous goddess.
Sick and tired of being chased and threatened, Kiema takes the battle to the gods who have used her as a chess piece. The confrontation ends with a throw down and a promise: step one toe out of line, and Kiema will usher in the war she’s tried to stay out of. If they won’t listen to her words, maybe they’ll listen to her actions.
Don’t miss Broken Magic, Book Four of the Iron Serpent Chronicles by Sadie Jacks. With mounting tensions between gods and humans, this is a book full of sacrifice, family, laughter, and love. Broken Magic will have you clinging to your sheets (or Kindle) until the last page.
Broken Magic is the fourth book in the Iron Serpents series by Sadie Jacks.
I’m not entirely sure where to start with this book. My mind is still reeling. The level of fuckery within these pages, mind blown.
Merely starting with the mess that is ‘Prince’ Alok, the ‘Watchers’, and the god Oliver is just the tip of the kooky-ness in this installment. Also, Scarlet is a secret badass. Yes ma’am, please more of that awesomeness. I swear I’ve subconsciously known this or I’m dumb, but the sheer strength of woman empowerment in these pages makes me happy dance.
In this book, we follow the group from Azica to Earth, in search of answers outside of their realm and maybe a small need to escape the danger that has dogged their steps these past weeks. This is where everything got annoyingly complicated, and twisty, and honestly so convoluted my brains like a pretzel right now. With more Asta plots, Herpes for some reason in a small way helping the gang while still being her usual duplicitous self, and other deities inserting their machinations on the lives of the Carbon Pack.
So much happened in these pages, where it seems too little was explained, and too much happened rather quickly. The writing feels mighty dissimilar to it’s predecessors, with characters saying “sames” on practically every page, supplementing this one word for the majority of many conversations and dwindling any real discussions between the MCs.
It’s honestly feeling like the writer was supposed to have a certain number of books so she had to jumble up this mess to fulfill such a requirement. The only saving grace is my actual enjoyment into the lives of all these characters I’ve come to know in the last three books. As well, the need to discover how their stories end.
Between the extreme loss of interest in this weird ass story turn of events, and the awful nicknames, I'm done.
Not to mention the characters just lost a lot of steam. I get having a large family but all of their combined POV's and the continuous addition to the harem/family just made everyone become voiceless. I mean, we are talking like twelve point of views. No thank you.
If you're going to have that many character's POVs, make it interesting yeah?
Kiema still has things to learn and master about her magic. Although Anda provided mentorship, she is no longer there to help her with that. Scarlet and her have become fast friends and Kord, her third mate if you count Ten and Saint as one because they occupy the same body, proves to be a great addition with his knowledge of things predicted and the meaning of actual things happening.
A visit by a group naming themselves "The Wardens" arrive on the planet with a god named Oliver stating that they are there to take Scarlet and Kiema back to Earth because they are practicing magic without a licence, basically. Wardens are what they call the police of Magical beings who report to the queen.
They take Kiema and Scarlet to an abandoned warehouse where the women show them where they will sleep. One of Scarlett's mate is injured in the process and Kiema must stay to do what she does best, Heal. Scarlet sets off after the traitors and Kiema calls in the reinforcements while she travels to the Spirit Plane in order to save and heal the wounded member of the family.
Having heard that they are sought by the Earth people, they decide to kill two birds with one stone and find out what this is all about and where Anda's daughter is hiding.
This is a series of books that keep readers on their toes with the unpredictable present at every corner. I rate this book with 5 Stars.
3 out of 4 books now have what feel like missing pieces or inaccurate timelines and whilst the series otherwise is good, this is just incredibly annoying. Spoiler warning ⚠️ 1. When when going to Earth they get peeved at her for not telling them where they are going, she did, not 4-5 chapters earlier so nope. 2. Half the reason for going there was to figure out who sent fakes after Scarlet. They did, but you hear not a damn thing about it other then the fact it was done and over now. 3. Scarlet finding her mother should absolutely have been a bigger deal then it was made out to be. So many important things are just missing and mentioned in passing, others are jumbled up. I cant give 4☆ and feel 2 maybe a bit harsh, but damn I kind of want to.
Amazing book! The last three books leading to Broken Magic kept you intrigued and wanting to know what happens next! This fourth book did not disappoint. As soon as I thought I knew how the story was going to go, all of a sudden it took a turn and surprises you! The crap that Kiema and her family get put through shows the strength of their bonds and the poor things can just not get a break! The story just keeps getting better and better! I am very much looking forward to the next installment in this series because the cliff hanger at the end is so amazing! If you haven't read this series yet I strongly suggest you do!
I’ve read 4 out of 5 books and I can say I’m greatly pleased! I’m kind of disappointed that I know I only have one book left lol and then I have to find something else to read. This series has it all from the beginning. The plot only gets better with every book, the strength of this chosen family makes you wish it your own, the heat between these mates radiates from the words being read, the action is undeniable that I’m sitting here sayin “Yeah, get em!” If you like some action, and some hot steamy romance do yourself a favor and read the series. A very good book indeed!
Wow. The emotions in this book. Each scene has been written with a finesse that you can feel the emotions jump out at you. Kord, Xander, and Scarlet are all hit with emotional bombs in this book and you can feel how strongly they feel come through the page. Kiema and her family are also navigating through Earth and that is a fun and interesting experience to read. If you're into adventure and a family that has their love shine through in all situations then this is the book for you. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you have the time.
That Asta bitch got her ass-ta kicked! Oh and that cliffhanger....!!!! I love this series. Goddess. I do really hope Heppni isn’t going to cause trouble though. But seriously the growth that Kiema has gone through is fantastic. Rising to the amazing badass level she has risen to and has now gained more power, add that she never lets it go to her head and seriously just wants to live her life. She doesn’t want to be involved in the Gods politics she just wants to be with her mates. I love it and can’t wait to see where she goes next.

I have absolutely enjoyed watching these characters grow into even bigger bad A's as the series has progressed. They were already strong characters, flaws and all, but now they are just WOW. The ending had me screaming "Ugh!!!" , because I need more. Great storyline that keeps you intrigued and fantastic characters that will make you want to know more about them. Absolutely would recommend. Thank you Ms. Jacks for sharing your amazing imagination with the rest of us.
I'm really enjoying the iron serpent series. My one critique is that the author sometimes skips important parts.
SPOILER ALERT A week later and they had caught the traitor. You don't get to know how or what happened, it was just a "by the way this happened off screen". Or when she was captured and tortured for a week, or when Scarlett first went Valkyrie. These are important aspects of the story but they get a minimalist treatment. It was disappointing.
Overall I'm enjoying the world building and plot twists. I can't wait for the next book.
ARGH! More questions... This just keeps on growing in proportions and I struggle to keep up. It's amazing LOL Still, the group dynamics are growing and the questions that are answered just raise even more questions. I can't wait to see where this is leading us and I love every twist and turn on the way. I don't really like cliffhangers, but even though I knew this one would end in one, then I couldn't not read it asap. I really am grateful I don't have to wait a year or more for the next book.
This book is an awesome continuation to this amazing series! Kiema is one bad-ass chick and she proves that over and over in this book! I love all of the characters in this book, from the little ones, to the big ones, they are all fantastically written! So much happens in each of these wonderful books that you do not want to miss a single second of them! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone willing to listen!
Kiema is at it again. Just as she’s trying to get a handle on her powers, new life, and grief, the rug gets pulled again.
Sadie Jacks has spun another chapter in this saga, and it is wonderful! We see Kiema and her family trying to understand their new places in the worlds and what their powers and being pulled together mean. With addition of new characters and some traveling, nothing is settled.
Some rollercoaster thrills this time around. Becoming a goddess isn't all its cracked up to be but Kiema is riding like a pro. Her and her family are getting through one hurdle after another. I especially loved their trip off world.
I predicted that there should be 2 more guardians but so far it looks like Lukas and Asta may be on their own. The group dynamics are working for them though.
My favourite thing about this series is I haven't had to wait a year between each book. The story line keeps you interested from cover to cover. The characters are badass amazing. I love that Ki-Ki is strong and fierce. I cannot wait to see how this ends!! Thank you Sadie for an incredible journey!!💖💖
I'm really at a lost. I've enjoyed all of the books but there were moments where I felt it dragged. This one gave me lots of twists and turns to navigate and the ending almost made me cry. Realizing I had to wait two weeks for the next book. Aaaahhh, feels like this is a form of torture.
Broken Magic had me in the feels HARDCORE! Picture this...You are on a rollercoaster, the tunnel of love (XXXrated lol) and a "haunted" house all in one. The feels, the intense situations, the jokes, the family dynamic. It is all back in Broken Magic!! Bring tissues for this one...
This book was Amazing!!! I literally love this book. It kept me waiting to see what happens next. The romance is also amazing in this book it becomes steamier and cuter than the last book. I cannot wait to read the next book and continuing the series.
This is an incredible addition to this series. With more intrigue, magic, heat, steam and twists and turns this story becomes more intense than the others. I love the humor entwined in the story along with fantastic emotion. I am very excited for the fifth book of the series.
I love watching this group of characters grow and face challenges together! They constantly up the ante on what they’re facing and so many twists I don’t see coming! Such a good read I love this series
Broken Magic, book 4 of the Iron Serpent Chronicles, is a book I picked up through Kindle Unlimited. Kiema and her men are back in another action-filled installment of this great series. Some nice twists I hadn't expected.
This book was a non- stop thrill ride start to finish. The relationships between Kiema and her family are as beautiful and haunting as the pasts they have all overcome. The prophecy is unfolding and the magic is exploding in a multitude of directions. The Reckoning has begun!
Finally getting to the nuts and bolts of the story. Kiema and her group have been flying by the seat of their pants from the start without any clue of what is going on. It is still a mess but at least there are some answers. Book 5 here I come!
This is the fourth book in the Iron serpent series. I enjoyed the humorous dialogue about earth vs Azica. It had me laughing. I look forward to the next book in the series to see what happens to Kiema and her family.
Loved the story but felt that it had too many factors over burdening the storyline. The characters were very independent and fiery. Romance was sprinkled with spicy sex as usual. Enjoy.🐈
