Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!
I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.
In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.
Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.
Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)
Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)
At the beginning of Vol. 8, should be added e.g.,' Reader discretion strongly advised. Vol.8 includes graphic descriptions of child abuse and desecration that may be highly disturbing'..
INMHO-- the graphic descriptions of human and animal abuse go significantly beyond what I think was necessary from the author. The horrific subject matter might have been more acceptably described had the author left much more to the imagination, an approach that might have had even greater impact on the readers unfamiliar with the existence of such practices. The rest of the series was very well written via plot and character developments.
Readers should not miss a lot of enjoyment of this series should they heed this caution and skip this volume.
I enjoyed the hard-boiled, police procedurals even if the theme has suffered with over-exposure in recent years. The advantage of a collection such as this is the opportunity to get a flavour of everything the writer has to offer. It's like going to watch a covers band, if you don't like the song they're playing you know there will be something different in another five minutes. This was value for money from the start, the variety just added to the enjoyment.
Loved this series and really liked the detectives in each series! Read all ten, in order, and found each murder investigation to be very different. All characters are appealing ( except Karen' s DCI) and each is a great police procedural! I highly recommend each series by this very talented author and there will be more in each series!
Thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this series even if Ms Edwards became Ms Evans. Good stories that are placed just right to keep a reader's interest. Even the two that are set in America seem to be written from knowledge of where they're set. I'll read more from this author.
Jay Nadal's Crime Thriller Collection is very quick and easy reading. I read the collection in three weeks. My favourite volume was Isolation - Book 6 in the Scott Baker series. I enjoy the relationship between Scot and Cars and look forward to reading more of both the Scott Baker and Karen Heath series
Exactly what it says, heart thumping and so very gripping
I enjoyed all these books and couldn't pick a favourite. Great characters, and gory crime scenes. Pulled some faces reading them, but couldn't stop lol..(.the last but one book would make a great horror movie) enjoy
This is absolutely a GREAT READ!! There is heart wrenching fear, excitement, hope, and Joy in the pages of this very well written book. Give thumbs up to the Author.
Absolutely fantastic set of books. I enjoyed them all the best characters were DI Karen Heath and Scott Baker . They made a great team. The short story at the end was gorgeous.😊
I would have liked it if it was longer, but the goodness of the policeman comes shining through! It is heartening but heart breaking story. The new partner he gets is very interesting and looks like he could tell a story of his own
Enjoyed the characters interacting between each books story line. It builds their personalities and they become more realistic tracking down the baddies and keep one enthralled until the end.
A lot of unnecessary advertising with nothing to do with the plot. Good reviews for restaurants and bad reviews for others (maybe didn't pay for review in book)
One of the most enjoyable collections to read. Very good stories which actually made me purchase the next two in the Karen Heath series. Just easy reads that draw you into the lives of the detectives and the grim jobs they have at times. So two lots of police investigations coupled with a very good standalone thriller followed by a neat little short story. Been a perfect few days reading!
