I’ve never been tempted to give up control before. All my life, I’ve craved making the rules. But my divorce showed me love is the one thing I can’t control, and I’m not getting hurt again. Not unless Garret tempts me into risking it. He could be my fresh start, but he won’t be satisfied until I let him have his way. I don’t know if I can surrender to someone else, but Garret is irresistibly decisive in bed. What he says goes. He’s the master of his nightclub, and I’m falling hard for him. But when two intense men cross paths, something’s got to give. And I want to give him everything. Nothing’s out of my grasp, not even falling for a man as commanding as me. I’ve always been the one in charge—I call the shots. I’m not usually attracted to other assertive men, but Felix is the exception. He pushes every one of my buttons, and I can’t keep my hands off him. Our spark is undeniable, but work keeps getting in the way. Someone’s threatening my business, and it’s interfering with my love life. Still, I’m finding more and more comfort with Felix, even if he won’t let me be in command—yet. I have a painful past, but Felix is exactly who I need to work out my aggression every night. I won’t lose myself, and I won’t lose Felix. Between two strong men, the struggle burns hot. Note to This is a standalone MM romance.
Finding someone special when your world is in turmoil creates intensity, purpose and clarity. These characters find a steamy connection amidst business challenges and starting over in a new city. I think the story and the characters journey to falling in love create a good story-line.
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
I am loving the chemistry between Felix and Garret. This is such a great story. I love seeing how these two explores their relationship. Definitely an enjoyable read that I couldn't stop once I started.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the romance between Felix and Garret. Felix recently moved to Chicago after his divorce. Felix inherited some money from his uncle and he felt like a new start. Felix was also going to use this time to explore his needs at a BDSM club. Garret owns the Tiger's Eye, a BDSM club and when he sees Felix, he is instantly attracted to him. Garret is a Dom and would like to be with Felix, but Felix tells him he is also a Dom and not willing to submit. Garret thinks Felix is submissive and asks him to trust him and explore with him. Felix agrees and the chemistry between them heats up. Garret is being pressured to sell the building that houses his club to a developer and when he refuses, Garret starts to have trouble with inspectors. Felix wants to help Garret and supports him through everything, but Garret is angry and tries not to take things out on Felix. I really loved this book. I liked Felix and thought he was really a sub. I think Felix was in denial and needed to be shown who he really was. Garret was a great guy, but he was under a lot of stress dealing with the club and the developer. I really liked how Felix could calm Garret and didn't get angry when Garret was upset. Felix just helped him through things. I think they had a great relationship. Another great one by one of my favorite authors.
Nice story. Felix, recently transplanted to Chicago from Arizona. His Uncle Al, left him and apartment and some money. He was trying to reinvent himself after his divorce. His marriage to Evan, wasn't ideal because Evan was a control freak and Felix saw himself as a Dom. He frequently gave into Evan and resented his choice. After a bad blind date he decided to give them up. He visited a BDSM club, Tiger's Eye on a whim hoping to re-exert his Dom self. He met Garret Olsen, with whom he was absolutely besotted! Garret, insisted he was really a Sub and wanted him to trust Garret enough to submit to him. Garret senses Felix is in denial and needs gentle focused encouragement to accept his real role. Nelson Sanderson is pressuring Garret for a piece of the club. Tiger's Eye starts having legal and logistical problems that affect Garret's bottom line. Will Felix submit? Is he entranced with Garret enough to put what he thinks is his true nature, aside? Do they blend? They each have major crushes on each other! What role does Nelson really play? The author handles Felix's and Garret's growth delicately and romantically. Good flow. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This feels to me as a different mood from the last releases. This seems more unnerving. Garret might be attractive but I never got to the point I liked him. His explosive moods were too close all the time. I know Felix had an instant attraction to Garret but I felt in the long run Felix was too invested in him. I feel the romantic relationship would have burned out after enough issues with the violent side. I also was totally wrong where I thought the ending would go. It seemed to settle quickly but I had almost expected to find Garret the bad guy who took Felix for everything. That is just the suspicions I had all through the book. I enjoyed the story. I feel the author held my attention all through.
These characters are extremely unlikable. The motivations are all over the place, like we're getting a different character in every scene. Garret is a toxic mess that never really ends up getting any better. The writing was all over the place, disjointed and vague, too much info on small details and inner rambling, too little detail on major plot points. Some huge inconsistencies, like characters who automatically know each other without ever being introduced, hands touching when they're supposed to be tied up. Shockingly little D/s when it's supposed to be the premise of the book. The BDSM gatekeepers are going to be all over this one, but this is a fictional story so I'm not gonna get into it. The only good thing I have to say is that I found zero typos, so you got that going for you.
I found this to be a deliciously exciting read, with two characters who, once again, have amazing chemistry. Felix and Garret are instantly attracted to each other, but Garret certainly has his work cut out for him to get Felix to accept what it is that he truly desires. They're fun and sweet figuring it out together, and it brightens up the tone of the book. There is some drama mixed in though, with someone threatening Garret's business. I enjoyed this touch of suspense and thought it fit in nicely with the romantic relationship. My only qualm is that I wish the ending wasn't quite as rushed.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Felix is making a new start in a new place after his divorce. After years of suppressing his DOM side he looks into a club on a whim chance to finding just the right partner. Meeting Garrett the owner is going to challenge him in ways he never knew he had. Garrett sees the real Felix under his DOM persona, getting him to see it too may just be the challenge he needed to take his mind off the trouble brewing with his business but will it be just a scene thing with them are will it lead towards more?
Another good story from this author, not one of my favourites, but still really good. Felix and Garret were both very likeable MC’s, although I must say I was little frustrated at how quickly Felix fell into being a sub when his marriage to his husband fell apart because they were both doms, but I quickly began to like their relationship. The external bullying was a little intense but brief, Garret’s temper made me expect more angst, but Felix was a very patient and loving partner who let a lot slide by.
PRIDE AND STUBBORNNESS CAN ONLY TAKE YOU SO FAR AGAINST EVIL
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
Felix, fresh from a divorce, moves to Chicago and tries to date. He is given a card about a BDSM club and tries it out. He meets Garrett and determined that he’s a dominant, Felix experiments with being a sub. They go through sabotage and arson to get to where they understand each other.
For me, a sign of a good book is having strong feelings towards the main characters. This would fit the bill, because I don’t like Garrett. I feel as though he was trying to change Felix. Felix was so desperate for Garrett’s approval, that he gave in. Wasn’t that why he left his ex? In the end, I was ok with them as a couple, but Garrett better be good to Felix! I loved this book, and I can’t wait for Jason’s next one.
A good dom/sub story with an interesting twist on the character dynamic. Garrett and Felix have great chemistry but it's difficult to make anything work together when the are both doms, but is Felix really a dom? I appreciate how Garrett patiently guides Felix to discover who he really is. I really like that not only is there a romance in the story but also an underlying mystery of sorts. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
It's not mainly about a Dom and his Sub but it was deeper than that. Garret and Felix's relationship is beyond physical. Garret is perfect for Felix and vice versa. Garret patienly guide confused Felix into submission and at the same time respect his boundaries and wishes. Felix isn't easy to back down especially when Garret acted like a jerk and give all his support to Garret through his darkest and lowest moment of his life and came out as a winner, together.
Felix and Garret meet and sparks ignite. Felix sees himself as a Dom and it felt more likely that was the role he was forced into and assumed it fit. Garret gently guides Felix into seeing who he really is. There is a bad guy to deal with. Plenty of action and intrigue. I liked that with every blow to Garret, Felix becomes his support and strength. I finished the book with a smile.
This was a well written story. This author is a good storyteller. This story felt like the main character spent most of his time trying to convince the other character to be something he wants. Neither character had a good grasp on who they were. It was hard to root for either of them.
Jason Collins sucked me into the story and I found myself saying "one more chapter" until I reached the end. 2 Doms who will submit. Story was equal parts romance & hot sex. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for an honest opinion*
This is really closer to a 2.5 star book for me but I rounded because it did not have glaring editing errors. I realize I am in the minority but I did not like the MC's very much; on the other hand, I did not hate them either. I found them and the story only lukewarm. I did not find the story compelling or gripping and I ended up skipping a bit of it just to get to the end. This is the first book I have read by the author and, for me, it will probably be the last. The writing and characters just do not resonate with me. If you have read other books by this author and enjoyed them then you will probably enjoy this one also. His writing style is not for me.
Rough by Jason Collins is a contemporary m/m romance that has two hot Doms burning hot for each other. Felix and Garret definitely heated up the pages and kept me needing to read more.
**** Rough by Jason Collins. The rating is actually four and a half stars. I enjoyed this m/m story very much. Loved the characters! The storyline was great!
Not my favorite by this author, but still pretty good. I did enjoy the chemistry between Felix and Garret. The storyline was interesting but the ending was a bit more rushed than I wanted.
