This is the first of this series by Ms Jones that I've reviewed. She is an excellent writer who teases us quilters with lovely designs and casual mentions of different patterns and styles of quilting without overwhelming those with less interest in this craft. Each of her books could be read alone, but I have really enjoyed the series in order. The mysterious side of them isn't overly complicated, but the twists and turns added by the author keep interest in the book. Who knew such exciting times could happen in a retirement community? Whether or not you quilt, I believe you will enjoy this very goodread!
This was a cute little book with a different twist to the storyline. What I like about these books is they aren't all the same. like a cookie cutter book. They introduce real life concerns and explain how people deal with them. Most of the characters in the book are of a certain age (MINE.....LOL....mid 60's to 90's....and while I am not THAT old I can related to some of the emotions the characters go through).
What saddens me is that I am getting ready to read the final book in the series. I have come to love this characters and will miss their antics and relationships.
I have been enjoying this series and this is no different. Carol Dean Jones tells enough about the main characters in each book for you to not need to read the books in order but adds something new too.
I have read the books on my Nook but do think I want to get the books for the patterns.
As much as I love the characters of this series, I’m a bit disappointed in the journey of this story. There seemed to be too many twists and turns to keep up with and then the guilty party comes from no where.
rather predictable and not always believable; dectective story mixed into quilting hobby for ladies; glimpse into senior citizen living in a retirement community; didn't compel me to keep reading to solve the mystery
