This book was only OK and that makes me sad because I love books by Rowan grass some mill. To start off with her intended is named Nick and he gets very angry that his mail order bride showed up with her daughter Emily and it takes the coaxing of his sister to get him to bring them to the ranch and see what happens. He is afraid he will not be a good father because his abandon him and his sisters when he was young and so he doesn’t know how to be a father. Unbeknownst to him but noticed by Cassie his MOB he seems like a perfect father and although him and Emily grow close him and Cassie seemingly do not. He is holding a grudge for her lying to him about her daughter. No that is what rubs me the wrong way. That seems so ridiculous to me that he would not only grow close to Emily and enjoy her company and give her a puppy and promise to buy her a pony and other things, yet at the same time he basically ignores Kathy despite his sister Patsy imploring him to do better. They have other things in this book that really irritate me but I will not say because I don’t want to ruin it for those of you who are going to read it. I will say this though when they finally profess love for each other I didn’t feel it, and most MOB books by the time they are professing their love for each other you can tell by the previous staring and electrical pulses that run through them at each other’s touch. Also we didn’t know how Nick felt because there was no dialogue from Nick‘s point of view so I think that had a lot to do with it also what got me is how Cassie was falling in love with him despite he really showed her no special attention she may as well have been the help. I just don’t get it.
Through correspondence they learn about each other but she leaves out one big thing. She has a secret at least from him, Emily. He doesn't trust her because she did not tell him about Emily. Time is on their side but then tragedy strikes forcing him to face his feelings. Well written plot makes this story move along quickly.
Because the heroine wasn't honest with her intended, she had to overcome his lack of trust before they could build a relationship. Her daughter played a major role in bringing the two together, and the interactions were masterfully executed by the author. Good read!
Has potential. Great storyline. The advice I would give the author though is slow the development. Capture your audience attention by giving more story details. Help us feel the passage of time. Not just skipping. That is what makes a good book great.
This is a short, sweet Mail Order Bride love story, written by Rowan Gracemill. She has done an exceptional job with the plot and the characters. You will enjoy discovering how Nick and Cassie find their happily ever after.
I enjoyed this mail order bride book so much they so real to me . Nick , Cassie and Emily make a beautiful family I Loved this story . I recommend Teens and up .
Lack of proofreading drives me nuts. The story was fine though. Why is there such poor proofreading? It seems as if that would be a primary consideration.
