This I a tough one as I was part of the air wing on NIMITZ in 1990 and there are people named in this book that I know personally and have worked with professionally. I understand the concept of alternative time lines and letting the author use his muse but it still makes it tough to read without thinking about thinking about what and who you know. Still another solid entry in this series and recommended if you are reading the series.
Over the whole series my favorite thing is the Cuban submarine adventures there just so wacky and crazy they raise up the quality of each story they appear. Now the downside noticed a lot grammar errors in the story that need fixing the author really needs to take a grammar test to help with his writing.
Couldn’t put this book down, love this series and while series hasn’t been written in a straight line it’s still enjoyable and easy to put in place. Brilliant read.
3/5. The focus of this series shifts to the naval war on three fronts. The American and British take-on the Russians in the Barents Sea; the French and Italians invade Crimea; and the Japanese seize islands that it and Russia have long contested. This book, like previous volumes in the series, would greatly benefit from the inclusion of maps and orders of battle for the different sides in the various theaters of conflict. Also, misspellings are frequent and annoying.
The last of his 1990's war series. It was OK but I tired of his writing style and this type of book that uses many different actions and characters to describe a war/battle. Mostly action, little story. He has done some prequels since this one, but I'll likely avoid.
