Resident bad girl, Phoebe Shaw is back after her six-month hiatus from Ghosttown. After a year of heartache, financial strain, and an assault charge, she’s ready to put the past behind her and set her sights on a fresh start. With the restraining order lifted and her community service obligations completed, she is eager to get back to her normal life, her friends and the small quaint town she calls home. However, Ghosttown has seen some changes since she’s been gone. The most intriguing being the arrival of the MC.

President of the Ghosttown Riders, Kase Reilly leads his club with a strong fist, unwavering loyalty and a commitment that has earned him the respect and trust of every member in the club. Five years ago, his brothers put all their faith in him and made sacrifices for Kase’s vision of returning to where it all began, Ghosttown. It’s been a long time coming, but Kase is finally fulfilling his promise to his brothers and everything is falling into place for the MC. There’s only one person standing in his path of making the club’s life perfect. Their new clubhouse neighbor, the enemy.

When Kase and Phoebe go head to head, sparks fly in all directions. Kase isn’t accustomed to anyone taking him on, and Phoebe doesn’t know how to back down.

It seems the devil has finally met his match.

Amelia Shea writes contemporary romance. She released her debut novel in 2015, and has followed her passion for series romance ever since. Her writing style includes a little sweet, a little sassy and lots of steam. She loves building stories with settings that become comfortable and familiar, and developing characters who feel real, and though they may be flawed, they learn and grow, and finally deserve a happy ending. When she is not writing, she is obsessed with reading (all genres although she does has a soft spot for romance), coffee (it's more of an addiction but she prefers obsession) and perfecting her "y'all" (just a northern girl living in the south).

Phoebe Shaw is back in town, she has the legendary status of being the towns bad girl and wears it proudly. No sooner is she back before she meets President of the Ghosttown Riders, Kase Reilly who wants her to sell her property. No! Heads are about to but as Kase is a legend of his own known to be an a$$hole like no other. Tempers will flare, attraction will be tested who will win the war, the line has been drawn.

This was another great book from this author. Was curious how Kase's story would be and who his match would be. I think he needed a woman who gives as good as he does. Great read.

Well Kase is still an asshole, jerk and douche I truly enjoyed Phoebe driving him crazy.

Jack, Kase’s father, was great and I loved spending time with him. I think the author did a good job of redeeming Kase and giving a better understanding of his stress to make the club better and safer for his brothers.

Hades? Man that guy I want to see more of him.

Overall I loved it.

I kinda wasn't looking forward to this one when I saw it was with Kase. He's been an ass for most of the series, there are flashes where he's nice, but for the most part those were few and far between. I wasn't sure that I could root for him to win over any woman.

I loved Phoebe when she showed up, she was a breath of fresh air and knocked everyone on their ass, especially Kase. Sure these 2 had chemistry from the start, but MY GOD, did they knock heads, have these big shouting fights were both of them used words that cut to the quick, then thought about things and were remorseful. It would be one thing if it happened once, maybe twice, but it was so many times, I got tired of it. Yet there were some very sweet things in the book, Phoebe with Jack, letting him be a man, letting him have fun with while still being within his limits, Kase listening to Phoebe talk with Jack and seeing his past in a different light, the whole town showing up and letting the club they were glad they were around and part of the town family. Even Phoebe and Kase had their sweet moments. So as much as these 2 drove me nuts, I was happy with how things ended for them, they both deserved it.

Quick(ish) Review

Review - Ghosttown Riders by Amelia Shea

Series Thoughts: Damn. I'm surprised at how much I got sucked into this crackilicious series. I mean, I hate the way it starts (more on that later), but emotionally this sucked me right in and even made me like some of these guys that I thought I'd never like (yes I'm looking at you Kase). What I loved is the characters. Especially the way this deals with every day life - there's a character with dementia, whose journey and final moments actually made me cry. There's alot of the aftermath of moving on from grief, that was touching and really hooked me into tearing through this 8 book series like a toddler through a lego set. I was all into it.

This is in line with most MC romances - there's violence, physical and attempted sexual assault, murder, multiple kidnappings. This is a series of bikers trying to get out of the life and move to Ghosttown, population 45. Each couple is settling in a town where literally you know everyone else, so there's no diversity and while there's interactions with the residents of Ghosttown, it's mostly biker centric. The series is also in line with Ghosttown East - around 3 or 4 on the WTFery scale.

The main reason I'm rating this series lower, however, is the editing - missing, misspelled words, and continuity questions really hurt the narrative, which is pretty damn good. But when I'm pulled out of the moment because I'm trying to figure out what you meant to write, not what's on the page, it's a problem.

So with that said, let's focus on the individual books:

The Enemy: Kase and Phoebe. Let me start by saying Kase is a raging d-hole. I mean, I have two characters that I struggled mightily with and he's one of them. I still like him a little more than Con from the Ghosttown East series, and that's all because of Jack, his father. This is a rough one, but I liked Phoebe and the ongoing story with Jack is why I rate this one higher. The ending of this one is a tearjerker for me. 4*

Great series ❤

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥1\2

This one was probably not my favorite of the series, I just had a really hard time with how big of a bunghole the MMC was. Like seriously hurtful things, that the FMC forgave him for altogether too quickly. Still a great story and important to the overarching storyline. I would still recommend reading it, but just prepare for more than a few eyebrow raising moments.

Again, I only found this author through a Facebook group last week. I am totally blown away and will anxiously wait for book 6.

First, there was Chey who was both soft and hard. Then Macy who was ornery. Bailey who was innocent, Rissa who was kind and so hurt. I loved all of them and the men they were paired with.

Now......Phoebe was the absolute best and that's saying something because I felt the same about the other girls. She was all of the above. Maybe only a tad innocent but you get the gist of what I mean. She was so good for Kase. The way she was with Jack had me smiling, laughing and crying. Loved, loved, loved this book/series.

I gave this book a four star review because it’s an ongoing story and I am invested in many of the characters. Kase is a nasty and intentionally cruel man. I get he had a harsh childhood but seriously he’s nasty. I didn’t care for him in the first book and I barely tolerated him in this one. However the writing is good, the storyline is good and the other characters carried this story.

Phoebe and Kase's book has been my favourite so far in this series.

what won me over with this book was the enemies to lovers scenario played out perfectly along with the excellent banter from Phoebe, Jack and Trevor.

Loved time with Jack and more than anything Phoebe's sass. a close second was Phoebe and her brother's relationship.

Hoping to hear more about these guys in future books.

I love Jack he was awesome. I love how phoebe was so brazen a little over the top sometimes but her and Kas were great together. I so wish this series was a movie with all the players.

My favorite is still the first one but so far I love them all now on to The Return

The enemy for this romance reviewer is a romantic tale featuring a main couple, who really could be considered their own worst enemy, for being scripted in such a way they both are an embarrassment to themselves, womanhood, and basically mankind in general.

Case in point is Kase, the alleged hero here. What self respecting heroine would ever want this dude? It was deplorable and despicable how he talked to and treated Phoebe, the heroine, at times. I'm no stranger to MC biker reads, people. But the author pushed his rude, crude, bad boy biker persona to the point she forgot we are actually supposed to like this guy. Being reminded repetitively he's been an OTT manho, whose been with hundreds of faceless to him women, including club hoe sharing with his MC bros, did not endear me to him. Calling Phoebe the "c" word twice.. unforgivable.

I've read some rocking biker books before. Difference is I actually liked and found things to respect about those book characters. Apparently Phoebe felt differently than I did about Kase. Openly panting after him from the get go and throwing herself at him every opportunity was beyond painful to witness. Have some dang respect, woman! Uugh! At 50%, I still despised him so much I almost gave up the ghost on this Ghosttown Rider MC prez altogether. But I stubbornly kept reading. But, hey, he attempted to do one generous nice thing for her near the end, so that I guess was supposed to make everything right?

Should I even bother spelling out Phoebe's at times pathetic character? Supposedly resilient but broken and fragile inside because of her poor choice of a now deceased husband, her only defense mechanism seemed to be batting her eyelashes and shooting off her sassy mouth. Oh, yeah, smex with Kase seemed to be her salvation, too. But she was liked by everybody (irking Kase to no end) and real pretty, so had that going for her, along with her nice butt everyone admired everywhere she went. Even old men with dementia. Her earlier physical assault, on a mouthy, elderly man everyone hated, which landed her briefly in the slammer, was practically applauded by the town. WTH? She apparently had a lip licking problem, too. I lost count of how many times "Phoebe licked her lips". What was up with that, folks??? She could be quick with comebacks, I'll give her that. I did like she had sass. Was just conflicted at times how she wielded it.

I'll close by saying, based on raving reviews I read before deciding to give this book a try, many other people seemingly enjoyed it. Good for them. I wish this new to me author continued writing success. But I'm likely ghosting this series, because despite being dubbed the best book of the series, it was one of the worst romantic reads I've read this entire year. I debated 1 starring this baby. Threw in an extra though for Phoebe's sass, standing up for herself a time or two, and efforts she made trying to right wrongs.

Romance safety gang:

Title: The Enemy, Series: Ghosttown Riders (Book 5), Author: Amelia Shea, stand-alone but part of a series, MC hero I disliked, annoying pathetic sassy mouth heroine, very graphic smex,

(I voluntarily read and reviewed a Kindle Unlimited edition of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not rewarded or compensated for this review.)

I have devided my comment in three parts.

The funny part
Oh my gosh, Phoebe is the best. She's just what the doctor ordered for their town. I laughed my butt off when she approached Kase the 1st time in the towns meeting. She had a problem with her car, the "sailboat light" kept on coming on. Oh my goodness that was just so funny.

The ahole part
Kase was one huge pain in the butt with him being an ahole most of the time throughout the book. There was a stage where I thought no way will he redeem himself and become a nicer person and he didn't even up to the end. He's the first Hero who stays the ahole throughout the book. I gave this book 5 stars even though there was very little groveling especially with the hero being such a ahole.

The heartbreaking part
You will definitely need tissues for this book. Especially closer to the end. Jack's part just broke my heart. He's such a sweet guy with the women in this series. I wish we had a book where he was still the president and was not sick.

So far I have enjoyed every book from this series and cannot wait to start with the next one.

The best book in this series for Kase and Phoebe

Kase and Phoebe are perfect for each other. The stubbornness, the sarcasm, the hurt, and family just make the perfect mix for this couple. I was hoping that the author would give the President of the club the best romance story and she did. The lead up from previous books and this one with Kase. He is a major Alpha with serious jerk tendencies but he has a heart too. He doesn’t let it show but with family. Phoebe has been hurt and cheated. She is coming back to Ghost Town to find her centre and let go of all the bad things. Phoebe immediately has eyes for Kase but he only wants her land. It’s clear to everyone else that Kase has an attraction to Phoebe but they both deny it. Gage is a winning character as he gets in the best jabs at Kase, the President. You will just be LoL with each perfectly time jab. Then there is Jack, who is the former President and Kase and Caden’s father. He is ornery and explicit but you adore him. He and Phoebe bond similar to how he bonded with Marissa. Read On!

Awesome story, Awesome author, hard to put her books down. Jack was a wonderful character in the story, could feel the tears coming when Jack died, also the memories he shared with his family, recommend this authors books to any one who likes the awesome bikers!!!

Heartbreaking but wonderfully told.

The Reilly men Jack (Pops), Kase, Cade, and Cade's teenage son Trevor. Jack was tough he was hard on his boys. He lived, and played hard he was the President of The Ghost Town MC. He handed the presidency over to Kase. Phoebe met Kase the tough hard biker. They but heads, fought and fell in love. Phoebe was good with Jack she took him out to ride atv's it was great for him. His son's and daughter in law Marissa(Coll) were happy seeing him enjoying himself. Marissa and Jack had a special bond she let him be himself and loved him from the beginning. She even let him call her Colleen or Coll which was hysterical because Coll was an MC whore back in Jack's reign as president. That's who Jack thought she was due to his dementia. Through it all this family were there for one another through it all. The MC was right there beside them. There is a lot of laughter throughout along with the tears. I was glad I was able to learn more about Jack in Cade and Kase's stories. Jack was mentioned in Ryder's story in the Ghost Town East MC. Which I read first.

Ok we all know Kase is an a-hole and phoebe omg she was great for him and really broke his walls down. Now that still didn't change his nasty filthy mouth and attitude at times in this book but it's "Kase". I would of gave it more stars but one part in the book and the one word he called phoebe did me in and had a hard time with it. I wish there was more groveling in books!!. He was wrong and knew it. However the author to me wrote this im sorry scene and phoebe giving in was too quick. It didn't stop me from reading on but I still don't have much respect if the apology isn't as sincere. This is just my opinion. I will say Kase had softened up some towards then but only for his immediate family. Then there is Jack so funny but sad with dealing with dementia. The authors writing for Jack was amazing and I commend her for it. Kase will still be an a hole but I'm just probably gonna come to terms with it and accept it.lol. I guess we can agree to disagree but Phoebe will keep him in line well somewhat lol. 😀

I've been looking forward to this one for the longest time. Kase is a rude and unlikable man in all the other books with rare moments of niceness. The moment I heard about Phoebe and her wild fiery personality I was excited to see Kase get his ass handed to him by her.

Kase is a man that is seen as always capable and prepared. Phoebe is the only one that leaves him speechless and in bafflement. Seeing Kase panic and not knowing what to do with her were the most entertaining and comedic moments. Phoebe is the definition of a spitfire and she always gives as good as she gets.

Her bond with Jack was so sweet and I cried like a bitch when he passed. His death bringing them back together made perfect sense to me. Showing up for eachother even when they are on the rocks. Also feels like Jack pulling them back together from the other side.

So far the books have only gotten better to the point where I wonder if the first book was even written by the same person. I'm so glad I didn't give up after the first one.

Phoebe returns to Ghosttown after time away and some heartache and troubles. There have been some changes to Ghosttown since she left, the most important one being the arrival of the MC. Kase is the president of the MC and is hard, mean and loyal to his MC. Phoebe is standing in the way of what Kase needs to fulfill his vision of what he wants for his MC. Sparks fly when Kase realises that not only will Phoebe not back down but she will happily spar with him and push back. Misunderstandings see these two at loggerheads but then tragedy strikes and brings them back together. I’m so so happy that Kase finally gets his well deserved happily ever after and that people get to see a softer side to him. This is my favourite book in the series and yes I am totally biased as Kase is my book boyfriend. Highly recommend this book, series and author 🖤❤️

Kase...the asshole you just want to meet his woman that will give him a hard time and turn him inside out!
And...yeassss...Phoebe is that woman. She is feisty, sassy, sexy, independent...and yet oh so vulnerable. I loved that mix of her.
Kase...Yeah, every one says he's an asshole. Well, guess what, as the President of an MC that has very recently gone legit...he needs to be hard and stern and severe. He needs to still be relevant to his brothers and his brother charters. Plus, the man is Jack's son...Jack was the O.G!
I loved that these two had push and pull. I loved that she drove him crazy. I even loved the misunderstandings (which as you may know usually drive me mad...but luckily they didn't last long).
Cannot wait to see Kase fall for his own baby girl...Kase as a dad. Yikes!

So good

Kase and Phoebe, well what can I say. I’ve always been on the fence with Kase, stared seeing him in a different light in books 3 and 4 of the series, and then in this book he really came into his own. He still had the gruff a**🕳 vibe going on, and he really needs to learn to ‘think before you speak’ but he should his human side and a little bit of the emotions that make book characters likeable!

This book made me laugh and cry. Phoebe was a legend and perfect for Kase, held her own and was true to herself.

Really enjoying this series and now onto the flirt of the group Gage, oh this should be fun 🤩

Ghost town sounds beautiful place to live

Ms. Shea once again gives you a picture of Ghosttown, and it's people. Phoebe is one determine spitfire. Going through he'll with her dead husband she is not taking Shit from anyone including the old man who keeps baiting her and Kase president of the MC. Their love story is not typical many ups and down, words are something Kase will probably never use to express his feelings but his actions will. Phoebe swore she never do a relationship again but she loves Kase. With the list of his father maybe made will bend. Not lol.

Kase and Phoebe

Kase has always been a hard man to understand and I think some of it has to do with the responsibilities for his club to thrive. Phoebe was married to a total scum bag and understandably had trust issues, but she and Kase clicked on many different levels, but also butted heads as well. Jack suffered from dementia and some days were better than others, but he came to adore Phoebe, just as he did Marissa. His death drew the families together even more than they were. This was another really awesome story and looking forward to the next story. Happy reading.

Kase and Phoebe

What a wild ride these two have in this story. Lots of anger, sarcasm, and heated banter but what fun it is to read. Kase didn’t know he needed Phoebe in his life and she was determined to never let a man be part of hers again. But when life hands you something and someone you find makes you feel again you go for it but of course the overbearing alpha screws up and then life hits the men of the MC hard. Can Kase figure out what he needs to do to fix it with Phoebe? Also get some tissues ready sadness hit the family. Loved Book 5.

Another one bites the dust.

Kase, the president of the MC is a hard nut to crack. He is rude and intimidating, having been brought up by his dad to show no softness. So when he comes up against Phoebe, the neighbour whose land he wants to buy, he is aggressive and even more so when he begins to start thinking of her most of the day.

I enjoyed the interaction in this story and also the inclusion of the other members met before. My only irritation was with the author continuously using the word 'ya' instead of you.

Best one so far of the Ghosttown Riders!

This is the reckoning for Kase Reilly and Phoebe Shaw. If there were ever 2 people perfect for each other, they are it!

Lots of emotional ups and downs causing you many emotions, as well. (I cried like a baby. You will too).

Have to admit, I’m a fan of Ms Shaw now. So glad I stumbled over The Favor and got sucked into this series!

Steamy & sexy with a whole lot of heart.

Just when you think you’ve read about the hottest couple in Ghosttown, along come Kase & Phoebe. They say there’s a thin line between love and hate. Boy oh boy do these two toe that line back and forth. Amelia knows how to make you fall in love with this community, these couples and all those around them. My heart is pounding with excitement to read the next book!

I’ve now read 1,4,5 in this series. Saint is my favorite H. Story wise, this one was pretty good. Kase is still an ass, but seems to soften as the book progresses. He said some things to h that I don’t think I could ever forget if I were her. Like, really cruel. Some of Phoebe’s tactics were cringy, but I guess they worked in the end.

I did like the way Kase dealt with club ho Val after he and Phoebe were together. Every MC male lead should take note.

Seriously Good

I had mixed feelings going into this book because I had mixed feelings towards Kase. But in the end I loved everything about this book. I loved Jack and everything about him. This gave me a better understanding of Kase and the club. There was a lot of emotion I had to deal with while reading this but it was so good and just so amazing. Not to say the other books weren’t good but this one I am holding special. One I will definitely read again!

Phoebe and Kase, rollercoaster ride!

This series is great, but book 5, Phoebe and Kase story had to be the heart of Ghosttown Riders books. It has it all, action, laughter, tears and some kick ass lady action. I want to say that I have enjoyed reading the ups and downs of Ghosttown. I look forward to more, but just had to write this review. Thanks Amelia for this outstanding series and the rollercoaster ride.

A great biker series

I had a love/hate relationship with this book...lol...This one made me cry so hard! If you've never dealt with someone who had alzheimer's, then you're lucky. It's a horrible disease! Thank you, Amelia for bringing attention to it. I love this series and would recommend it!
