Some people think a knickerless walk of shame is as bad as it gets. Some people are wrong. Very. Wrong.
That awkward moment when you figure out the hot piece of ass in bed beside you, AKA - your drunken hookup - is your boss’ boss, billionaire hottie Sebastian Stone.
Even more awkward? The knowledge that there is no way I can retrieve my knickers from the chandelier above his bed without waking him.
Now he wants me to be his fake girlfriend, and he has an offer I cannot refuse.
I’ve fought my whole life to prove I have what it takes to run the family empire. Unfortunately, these days my Gramps cares more about family values than stock values. And he’s not handing over the company unless I find love.
Grace Harper is the no-strings hookup I haven’t been able to forget.
Finding out she’s my employee and a hot little rule breaker - who brings their geriatric cat to work? - I figure she’s perfect for My Fake Girlfriend.
Will a phony relationship unleash Grace and Sebastian’s deepest desires? Or will faking it make them come undone?
My Fake Girlfriend is a hot romcom with lashings of banter, fun, and all the feels. It is recommended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult content.
I DESPISE the pregnancy trope with my entire being so the book was ruined for me. I hate how rushed this was. they knew each other for three fucking days and hes already in love with her?!?!? and worse SHES IN LOVE WITH HIM!??! EVEN AFTER ALL THE SHIT HE DID!?!?
I absolutely loathe this man. I cant believe that even after grace told him MULTIPLE times and he has had to apologize MULTIPLE times for taking big decisions behind her back in the past, he still had the AUDACITY to announce her pregnancy by himself just because HE was feeling happy. as if he's the only one in the situation... such weirdo behavior
I fuckinh hate both their personalities. grace is a little TOO 'sweet and forgiving' for me. like sometime you just need a let a man grovel ffs🙄🙄
and dont even get me started on the male mc ( I already forgot his name) he was such a dumb fuckinh idiot ( not in an adorable way but in 'a want to tear the skin off his face' way )
It started well but ended badly. Everything happened too fast, we didn't even have time to understand their relationship. MMC is a dickhead, who continuously takes decisions for FMC without even consulting her. It happens over and over again and she always forgives him.... And then the pregnancy trope... That sealed it for me.
“But you’re infatuated with your penis, always have been, ever since you learned to use your hands. In fact, I seem to remember a young Sebastian using his best efforts as a toddler to stretch it right into his mouth. “
I am a lover of penis jokes, this one not so much.
The book was definitely in a rushed format, and it didn’t really depict love between the characters. I found Luke way more interesting than Sebastian.
Sebastian was boring, he wasn’t cute in any way. He was just there always needing something more and more. And really he didn’t give me that burning passion, he didn’t have strangled tension with Grace.
It became like a damp love story, not that bright, not that huge. Just kind of there.
And the ending, why was Grace upset? Other than the pregnancy announcement but like the note really shouldn’t have upset her because that’s literally what was meant to happen, she may have thought like he still was doing it but nowhere on that list had anything to do with her getting pregnant.
I've discovered this author not a long time ago and let me just say that I'll be stalking her forever. This author had given me some hot and funny stories that melted my heart and wet my panties. Lol Each book was even more funny and hot and I wanted more. Emily James is freaking amazing. Her writing is spectacular and so freaking awesome. Just give her a chance and you'll see. Operation: My Fake Girlfriend is her latest release and explores the lives of Sebastian and Grace. Sebastian seeks his grandpa's approval. He was working alongside him in their company and needed to seek more success. But his pop's always saw something that wasn't right. He was getting a bit fed up with it but what could he do? In order to gain control of the company he had to prove to his grandpa that he was able to care more about someone else than him. That he was capable of giving himself to someone but… Grace had to move out because she needed a fresh start. She caught her boyfriend cheating on her with her roommate. Now she's in another town making ends meet with her cat. One night stand was supposed to be just that until it wasn't. This was a sweet short story that melted my heart. I really loved the plot, loved how it was written and I simply adored all the characters. Like the greedy girl that I am… I always want more. It was a great story that lifted my mind and heart. I adored every chapter and I read it in one sitting. Emily… I feel like I've been reading your books for so long. You, my dear are brilliant and this was just another freaking awesome story. Can't wait for more.
Operation: My Fake Girlfriend by Emily James was a fun, steamy romance with spunky characters who kept things entertaining the whole time. I liked how these two interacted from the start. Sure, they had this "agreement" to fake a relationship, but you could tell there were sparks from the start on both sides. As those feelings grew, so did the chemistry. They were adorably cute. There were serious moments, but it was very fun and flirty for the most part. This isn't the first book I've read by Emily James, and it definitely won't be the last.
The ARC of Operation: My Fake Girlfriend by Emily James was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this RomCom. The author gave us a hilarious twist on the rich playboy/fake fiancée storyline. The characters and their banter is an absolute hoot. I laughed and smiled throughout the book as we followed Sebastian's attempt to show his Grandpa he deserves to take over the family's empire. In walks Grace, the wild one night stand he had weeks ago and the perfect woman to become his fake fiancée and show his grandpa he is in a steady relationship and settled. But Sebastian may be biting off more than he can chew when trying to convince Grace and her crazy cat to be his for a month.
If you’re in the mood for a funny, flirty, romantic story, I highly recommend grabbing up OMFG: Operation My Fake Girlfriend. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.
I received this book as an ARC from the author, but my review is all my own! I always look forward to the next book from Emily. I read many genres of books but sometimes a person just needs a good rom-com to lift their day and their spirits. This in fact does both. Emily has a knack for writing characters experiencing the things we all do, and somehow making us all laugh at both the characters and ourselves. Very uplifting and entertaining. This story does not disappoint.
Announced that they were engaged on social media without even proposing her. After her ultrasound, ditched her at the doctors office so she could make her own way home. Announced that she was pregnant at a party, without her consent and knowledge again. Overtook her business venture until she had almost no involvement.
I liked the two of them in the beginning but she really was a doormat.
I loved this book!! I love how Emily James built up each character through out the whole story. You will fall in love with Grace and Sebastien. This was a really great Rom Com and I can't wait to read more from Emily James!!
OMFG... What a great book! I read this entire book in one day. I've NEVER read a book in one day. Once I sat down to read, I couldn't put it down. I found myself totally enthralled with the characters and I definitely rooted for Seb and Grace. Can't wait for the next installment!
I was hoping this book would be a nice short and spicy story as I haven’t been able to read much lately and wanted something refreshing. Sadly I was disappointed. There are parts of this book that are funny and parts that are beautiful but overall it is left lacking.
The writing style seems more like teen fan fiction than an actual book and good god do I have issues with the plot. *Spoilers* These two meet, start fake dating, start real dating, get pregnant and then get real engaged in less than two weeks!!!!! I couldn’t even be sure I have an actual crush someone I’d known for two weeks, let alone be sure that marrying them is a rational decision.
The book itself has a good concept but seems very rushed, maybe it just needed some more time and a bit more detail. Also the events definitely need to be more spread out. Oh and it is advertised as a spicy read but honestly it is pretty closed door. All in all I don’t regret reading it but it hasn’t made me want to continue with the series.
Memorable quotes
“I’m sorry, you’re right. A geriatric cat with herpes is no laughing matter.”
“Sebastian’s nodding like what he just said wasn’t even mildly offensive.”
“”Would you... um, would you like some brownies? Maybe a glass of milk?” Yes! Thought she’d never ask.”
“The way he looks at me, like the rest of the room is just white noise and I am a symphony.”

This is a new-to-me author, but I loved this book. The story is well written, with great characters, and a slow built to love. It includes a meet cute with long lasting results. Sebastian is a wealthy young man with a goal of taking over the family company, after his grandfather retires. He is a playboy, so his grandfather, is unsure whether Seb is mature enough to settle down and run the business. He has a one night stand with Grace, but he can’t get her out of his mind. Grace is on vacation, after a bad breakup, and meets Seb in a bar. She sneaks out in the morning, but feels an attraction to him. She realizes that he is the owner of the business where she works. After Seb offers her the chance, to be his pretend girlfriend, she accepts. The fake relationship begins, and progresses rapidly, because the couple is falling in love events occur that causes them to split up, but a surprise reunites them. They eventually obtain their HEA, and the book ends in a beautiful romantic form. Hopefully I will be able to read more from this author, and I recommend her books.
Very funny fake girlfriend to lovers story. Sebastian is happy being a playboy, but has to get a girlfriend for his grandpa to give him reigns to the family business - hello Operation My Fake Girlfriend. A hook up with Grace a few weeks before has her on his mind, and when he finds out she works for his family’s company, he enlists her to help him. Grace, a bit of a pushover, if we’re being honest, ran out on Seb after their hookup when she realized who he was, and was hoping to leave it at that. But his offer, and the offer to help with her ailing geriatric cat, Geraldine (a boy, btw), at the workplace, has her agreeing to the crazy scheme.
In true rom-com fashion, there are some silly moments, with lots of heated, steamy undertones. Sebastian is truly clueless when it comes to romancing a woman outside of the bedroom, let alone trying to be in an equal partnership relationship with one, so he does some face-palm inducing things throughout. Meanwhile, they are both fighting off their mutual lust, because it’s “only for a month”. There are some very funny, laugh out loud moments - a more than one are related to Grace’s cat. But there is also a nice amount of sweetness, as well as steam.
Overall, a quick, fun listen, with some heat in for good measure.
I’ve become such a fan of this author’s writing and in Operation: My Fake Girlfriend she showcases more of her brilliant balancing of witty banter and comical scenes. While this story definitely has its hilarious side, the relationship developing between Grace and Sebastian also lends itself to a softer, sweeter and more heartfelt side, adding an emotional layer that will tug at your heartstrings in between all the laughter. The storyline was engaging from the start, and I now have a new favorite fictional cat, Geraldine, whose character was an ingenious catalyst of some laugh-out-loud moments. The epilogue leads the way into the next couples’ book and I can’t wait for all the comedic deliciousness I’ve come to expect from this author and series.
Listened on audio: Narrators Sophie Hunter-Scott and Sunny Patel did such an amazing performance! I loved the British accents and together they captured the characters’ emotions and personalities perfectly, making it a fun and entertaining listening experience!
Very instalove. They hook up once, then meet each other again after a month. After less than a week of fake dating, they fall in love risking everything for their love. Hardly seems probable but I'll take it.
What makes this a 3.5 star book instead of 5 stats is all the drama. First, h is spooked, H thinks she's leaving and she does think of running, but she doesn't. Next H is spooked, which hurts h so she wants to run. H says sorry and says the right things so she doesn't run. Then h sees something H did before their fake relationship, gets hurt then runs away. Not to mention the couple of times h tried to break up their fake relationship prior to the running away. It just made me nauseous.
There's too much drama that I wish they just stuck with one major issue and not do the constant running by h. At the third time it happened, H just did what he did the other times h wanted to leave which was just to say sorry and profess his undying love. By this time, it lost all meaning to me and had me rolling my eyes at both MCs.
I absolutely loved this book. It’s definitely different to my usual read but 100% worth it. Was such a good read, I didn’t put it down until I finished it. Would highly recommend giving it a look.
This book follows grace as she goes through a rough breakup and winds up drunk and having a one night stand with a handsome stranger only to find how he isn’t that much of a stranger. He’s the next boss/CEO of the company she is working at. Mortified that she’s slept with her boss she makes a run for it, only to bump into him at work… He had a proposition for her… “Be my fake girlfriend”. Words she didn’t expect him to say but how could she turn down the handsome man that gave her the best night of her life, especially when he’s looking at her like that.
Follow their story to find how just how tricky being in a ‘fake’ relationship is when the tension gets a little too thick and consequences from their first night comes back around.
I've been listening to the audiobooks and I listened to the audiobook set that is inclusive of three books of this series. Each individual story is standalone but works better if read in order. In this story, following Grace and Sebastian, they had a steamy encounter and then Grace found out that Sebastian is her boss. Then he needed her to play his fake fiance to get control of the company. The banter between Grace and Sebastian was fantastic. I have to say that the narration is excellent, especially the narration by Sophie Hunter Scott. She was perfect- she had fantastic comedic timing, she seemed like she really enjoyed herself with this narration and her voice, while beautiful, was also infused with humor. I really loved her narration. The male narrator, Sunny Patel had a smooth voice that was pretty well suited for Sebastian.
3.5⭐️ This was a great book and loved the writing, but it felt rushed. The whole book takes place in the span of a month I believe, minus the epilogue. I felt like the writing was set up for a slow burn, but the story was insta-love. I’m not sure if that makes sense to most, but I don’t know how to word that properly. Anyway book would have been 4.5 but it was lacking details and some parts of the story dropped off for me.
Here is the spoilers
- What happened to the whole “strict no fraternization policy?” Did it just go out the window. That was why she snuck out the first night to begin with but was never mentioned again.
- How did her ex get into town in time for the interview? Didn’t she move from far away to start fresh after he cheated? That who meeting seemed like a last minute thing that the MMC set up as “revenge” so the mmc called it.

This series has been very enjoyable and the books are not that long so they can be read in one sitting. The previous book has been my favorite so far but I still wanted to read Grace and Sebastian’s story. They were very different but I loved reading their interactions and how Sebastian started to change thanks to Grace. Despite starting as fake, little by little their relationship started evolving and everyone around them noticed how they felt towards each other after some time. Sebastian’s gramps loved Grace from the beginning and it was nice reading how their families got along well and how supportive they all were.
The story was easy to read but it still felt rushed at times, their relationship evolved pretty fast so I definitely expected more, especially more of their future together. As always the side characters have been great so I can’t wait to read the rest of the books.

It’s escapist romantic comedy at its heartwarming best!! Definitely should one click today!!
A make you smile, brighten your day romcom!! It’s just impossible to read without smiling. It’s escapist romantic comedy at its heartwarming best. All the feels pour off the pages! It just had everything you love in your romance.....great characters, pacing, crazy chemistry and just some funny sweet moments!! It was light and fluffy with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, which is a winning confection in my book. Definitely should one click today. I can’t wait to read Luke and Rosie story next. Happy reading everyone!!
This book was not only funny, and emotional, it was very engaging. I found out about this book through the author’s TikTok. She posted a passage from the prologue and I immediately opened my Kindle app and updated my Goodreads😂 not only did I complete this book in one sitting, I stayed up to do it. The miscommunication trope isn’t always my favorite to be honest but this author did really well with it, as well as the whole surprise pregnancy trope! If you’re thinking about, read this book, it was good, and I feel like every book definitely helps learn about relationships in real life, in this book the prevalence of communication is shown!
This book was a riot from start to finish!!! I love a good romantic comedy and this journey between Sebastian and Grace had me howling with each new chapter!!! Sebastian wants to show his grandpa he can be responsible enough to take over the family business by pretending to have a serious or fake girlfriend you can call it. Grace is a one night stand that he tries to convince to play the girlfriend. She is Witty and full of sass. Can this sexy charmer if a bachelor convince her to be his? So Damon cute and funny you won’t be able to put down. Definitely winner and must read.
