You’ve tried everything they told you to do. You pushed, you hustled.Nothing is really wrong, and yet, you’re unsatisfied with where you are. You’re painfully aware that there’s another level you can reach, and think you know what you need to do to get there. The only problem is you’re not doing it—at least not consistently. It’s not your fault that you feel stuck. There’s an invisible force holding you back, and in Average Sucks, Michael Bernoff shows you what it is and what you can do about it. Michael is not teaching business strategy, and this is not a book designed to bury you in busywork. It’s an invitation to meet the real you. The one who lives life the way they want to live. Michael is going to show you how to easily change the way you think and how you do things, so you can enjoy more success and more fun while you’re at it. You deserve better than average, you’re capable of it, too—isn’t it time to go get it?
If I had advice for Michael, I would lose the self promotion, cockiness, arrogance he mixes in his writing. I hear it in his interviews too, for most people that's a big turnoff. Let your material speak for itself. As for this book, it's ok I guess. He's simply using different terms to rehash old ideas. The first clue is in how many pages and pages he has to use to explain what Average Sucks means. Which is an indictment of what he brags about being his specialty...communication! My layman attempt in one short paragraph here: Our mind, subconscious, it's job is to make us comfortable. To stay in homeostasis. Like the thermostat on your HVAC system. Keeping your living space the temperature you like. To break out of this, or your Average, you have to develop habits, take actions, that override your natural state of comfort. Strive for 1% a day improvement instead of being deluded into thinking you'll overhaul your daily routines overnight. I should have waited to see if this book would be picked up by my local library. Ok read, but not a game changer by any means.
When I heard Micheal on The Eliteman Podcast I had to read the book. I enjoyed it a lot. There is a lot of great advice in the book. Not all of it is mind blowing, but understanding the difference between your average and you’re average makes total sense.
Michael Bernoff does an excellent job of explaining why we are stuck at average and gives simple explanations on how to move past your stuck point to level up your life. Small consistent actions can lead to great change. Read this book now and take action!

It’s an ok book. It doesn’t uncover great secrets or hits you with brand new ideas, but if you’re looking for suggestions on how to do things differently in your life, this book could help.
