Kid Youtuber

Rate this book
Age 9 and up | Grade 4 and up

Davy Spencer might be the new kid in school, but that doesn't mean he can't start as the most POPULAR kid.

With the help of his two best friends, Chuck and Annie, Davy throws himself into making viral YouTube videos with hilariously disastrous results. If he can pull this off, then everybody at his new school will know his name before even meeting him.

Davy's YouTube channel has everything - awesome pranks? Check! School lunch reviews? Check! Undercover detention missions? Check! Getting duct taped to the wall? Check - wait, what?

Becoming a rockstar Youtuber isn't easy, but Davy won't give up... no matter how crazy things have to get.

Kid Youtuber is a funny children's book for ages 9-12, middle school students, and adults who never grew up. Marcus Emerson is the author of Diary of a 6th Grade Ninja, The Super Life of Ben Braver, and Recess Warriors.

It’s an entertaining enough book. I read it because I wanted to check it was suitable for my son and it did hold my interest. It’s about a little boy who wants to be a YouTube star playing pranks etc. Characterisation is good and the graphics are pretty funny. Definitely suitable for pre-teen kids, especially if they too want to be YouTubers.

It ends at 73% though which was confusing until I realised (given that the author asked for honest reviews at the end) that it is probably self published and a KDP Select book. So, to support a fellow author I read the remaining 27% which was made up of previews of another book.

Kid Youruber

EVERY kid I know thinks they will be the next big star and this book shows kids it’s not so easy! It’s also a cute story of a kid, his little sister, and his two new friends. Add in his friends he’s making at his new school, and it should be a great series!

Underlying premise: Middle school boy (Davy) constantly speaks negatively of, hates, and actively discriminated against boy (Fergus) with Spina Bifida in wheelchair. Davy goes so far as to tell Fergus he needs to “go home” because his wheelchair isn’t equipped for rocky terrain. Shows graphic illustrated nudity of minor twice (full rear and side-rear and depicts 12 year old boy with towering stack of Chardonnay in his arms.

Originally self-published by the author. Picked up by Literati and shoved immediately into Literati book fairs. Really a gross experience.

Impressions:

Haha! It was entertaining to the core. Perfectly depicts the kids of this generation. Almost every page had an illustration and I had such a wonderful time laughing at Davy's antics. Loved all the characters. Marcus Emerson has found a place in my Fav authors list. <3

Hooking into the current obsession with instant fame, Kid YouTuber Season 1 hits the spot. Davy narrates his story with an authentic voice and his antics are funny. The comic illustrations add to the appeal. For fans of DoWK. (My only observation- the layout was very neat- take from that what you will). Will be a hot favourite in the school library 4.5 stars

Wonderful!

A story that came straight out of my childhood, with a moral at the end. I think I should read everything this author writes because he's got everything right so far.

Why did I read this book? I have no idea. Did I like it anyway? Yes.

My brother actually loves this series, and he hates reading more than anything in the world, so I guess I was curious to see what this book was?

It's not like it's my favorite book or anything now- hell no. it's not even on my top 100 favs. It's not even my favorite kid's book. In fact, it was kinda cringe some parts. Actually, a LOT of parts, but it's a kids book so whatever, what did I expect?

But it's also funny and the art is really cute and it also made my little brother actually read a book, A BOOK, people, not just those comic books he likes that are way too violent for even me.

I was gonna give this 3 stars, but, y'know what, because of the fact alone that my brother loves this book, I'll give it 4 stars.

I'd recommend this book to kids aged 8-11 who are interested in having a channel of their own, or just want a good laugh.

This book was fantastic. It was the best one overall.
The main character in the story is Davy Spencer, his mom, dad, and his little sister. They moved to a different school because many mean people teased him. At the new school, new made many new friends and one of them wants to be a Ninja when he grows up. And Davy wanted to be famous and he started his YouTube channel. Frankie is already famous YouTuber and the Friend who wants to be a Ninja help Davy to be able to collect more YouTube subscribers. Davy and friends made interesting videos. The most popular video is about why his sister peed on their bed because many people find it interesting. When the video became famous, they felt happy but they faced problems when people hacked into their account, and others were copying their channel and stealing their followers. He was unknown at the beginning of the story but he became very famous. Davy found that friendship is very important and his friends helped him and worked together. The funniest part was Davy Spencer talking about his little sister but at the same time he was rude to talk about his sister's privacy.

What a cute funny story about a 6th grader who is trying to be famous by starting a YouTube channel. He goes through extensive things to get noticed and raise views. With the help of friends and family, this kid is on his way of being famous. As long as he can stop a bully. I enjoyed this and look forward to continuing the series

Davy’s family has just moved to a new town and he wants to make a splash, so he decides to start a Youtube channel and vlog about his life. Unfortunately, most of his ideas to post funny videos end in disaster. And then there’s Fergus Widdershim, a kid at school who already has a fairly popular Youtube channel. How can he compete with that?
