The box set it is titled incorrectly as, 'Cruel Prince' is listed as the intro. to the series. When the correct title is 'Devils Pawn'. However, book 1 is titled correctly as, 'Fallen Prince'. Yet, book 2 is titled, 'Devils Pawn' when it is, 'Cruel Prince'. On a positive note, tnis book 'Dark King', is titled correctly.
All this is noted by my daughter who is currently reading the box set versus individual books, as we both prefer box sets. However, we read at different speeds. Thus, the confusion of titles was discovered.
As you can see, it doesn't matter if you are an individual book reader or box set reader, thus far books 0, 1, 2, and 3 can be read in the correct order just under different titles from the box sets.
If you, read box sets and list as individual, as my daughter often does it will be confusing on Goodreads to keep the books straight and in the correct order.

This is the 3rd book in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. Willow and Allesandro fell for each other when they were kids. When she had to leave, she wanted him to go with her, but he wouldn’t. Now she is back, and the sparks are still there. Will they get their HEA? Fast-paced mafia read with loads of drama, steam and suspense. Intense chemistry and great characters. I loved it.

Second chance or have their journey's been too different to now?
Dark King is the third book in the Varasso Brothers series and is the story of Alessandro (Sandro) Varasso and Willow Morietti. They were childhood sweethearts who fell in love with each other and stayed that way until the turning event of her father taking the blame for something and being sent to prison. As her father worked for the Varasso Mob family she blamed them. In doing so she decided to move away and gave Sandro an ultimatum.......the family or me. She ended up moving by herself to restart to her life in California. Meanwhile Alessandro remained and became more enmeshed with the family business.
Six years later and Willow finds herself back home after her the death of her grandfather. They of course cross paths and all the old feelings coming blazing back like a freight train for both of them. Over the course of these years though they have each taken a different journey and have become different people.
Will love they be able to find their way back to each other or have their journey's been too different to this place that they find themselves? Will swore she would return to California never to return again but will she be able to? What is Sandro willing to do to keep the love of his life?
This is a nicely written and intricately woven story-line that has emotion, drama, suspense, love, history and of course some sizzling chemistry sparking between the main characters.

We continue with the brothers. In this instalment we reflect on Alessandro. He list the love of his young life. High school sweethearts etc. Willow, made a detrimental decision that was good for her and possibly her sanity. Unfortunately sad circumstances brings her back home and the spark is reunited.
As per usual, no spoiling, synopsis is presented by Sophia so one gets the gist. Though Dark King doesn’t need to be read in order, I suggest all series are best read in order. Yes, there is always some type of spoiling within series.
Aside from this, Dark King for me was a little more casual as opposed to the 2 previous reads. We definitely do concentrate on Sandro & Willow. Throw in circumstances regarding the family business & expectations and well......
Loyalty/Family/Leadership/Expectations/ ? Freedom - in/out -n decisions are presented to the Varasso Bros. Do they follow in the footsteps of their elders? Is there a life outside of being in the Mafia? What is expected in the next instalment? Is there a twist somewhere? How are the Varasso Bros be united? There is still much left in the series, a question is what level will be presented.

This latest instalment is Alesandro’s story. Out of the brother’s, both he and their half brother have the gentlest nature. Alesandro was born and raised into it and his father expected him to be tough. But when he was a teenager, he met and fell in love with Willow. She is the daughter of a man that took the fall for the family, so she was obviously bitter towards their legacy and when they turned 18, she left for California. She gave Alesandro the opportunity to choose between her and his family and leave with her, but he put the family first and has regretted it ever since. When Willow arrives for her grandfathers funeral, he decides that this time he will do everything he can to win her back. He has never stopped loving her and she’s never stopped loving him. This is a fantastic, well written tale of long lost love that intertwines the past and the present and includes Marco’s story. All of the familiar favourites put in an appearance. Absolutely brilliant.

This book was what I called a "feel good," romance despite also being about a mafia family. Willow and Alessandro were best friends growing up, but that soon changed to be best friends and lovers. Before she left for college, Willow gave Alessandra an ultimatum, me or the mafia. It an impossible choice for him to make because his family was the motto, "Family is everything!" It was six years later that they met once again, and, despite the years apart, they were still in love with one another. How their problems eventually went away was compulsive reading, nothing is better is a romance than the lovers finally moving past all the pain and anger to the HEA. This book is just such a book, so read it and enjoy the love.

I love this series. The Varasso brothers, each in their own way, find a beautiful love. Dark King follows the journey of Sandro and Willow.
Willow Morietti and Allesandro Varasso have loved each other for a lifetime. They fell in love when they were children and were together until Willows father was sent to prison. She blamed the Vassaro family and gave Sandro an ultimatum. Unfortunately it didn't go the way she'd hoped so she broke up with Allesandro and for six years they were apart. She in California and him in Pennsylvania, she never came back home until her grandfather passed away. Now she's back and seeing Allesandro brings back feelings for both of them. Their journey is anything but smooth and will take more work than either of them can imagine to find their HEA. I'm so glad I took this journey with them.

This is book three of the "Varasso Brothers." This is the story of Alessandro and Willow. Sandro and Willow have loved each other forever. They played together as children but Willows father is sent to prison and she blames the Varasso Family. She leave and for six years they are separated. She stayed away until her Grandfather passed away and seeing Sandro again brings back all the feeling of love. Their journey won't be an easy one. Dark King is the third book in the Varasso Brothers series by Sophia Reed and features the story of Willow Morietti and Alessandro Varasso who fell in love when they were teenagers but separated after her father went to prison for the Varasso Mafia Family. When she returns to Pennsylvania from California six years later due to her grandfather’s death, the attraction between Alessandro and Willow is stronger than ever. I highly recommend this exceptional and well written novel with its complex characters and a plot with emotional conflict, drama, suspense, unexpected twists, and spicy chemistry.

willow and alessandro were very much in love, when they were kids and young adults willow end up moving away when her father went to prison she asked alessandro to come with her he didn't and they separated , years later willow grandfather passed away and she comes back, can these two get together after all these years and can willow be in the mafia family which she left before . I teally liked this this story.

Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength. The short story of eroticism of sensation. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.

Willow and Allesandro story. Willow came back for her grandfathers passing. She hasn’t seen Allesandro in the past 6 years, her love from long ago, but he wouldn't leave with her.
She blames them for her fathers imprisonment. Of course they both have hot chemistry thats hard to fight. But they still have issues, dangerous situations and they must decide where to go from here.

This book continues on with Alesandro’s story. We see in the past how he grew up with Willow and fell in love at a young age. With Willows father taking the fall for the varasso family and her consequently hating their family that she moves away and asks him to go with her. Alessandro stays with family and regrets letting her go when years later she returns for a funeral. Will they work things out and get back together. Pick up a copy and find out you wont regret it. Totally Hot

Alessandro is special, just as Willow. They waited six years for each other, although getting together again was not on their future.

Very good
The way these job guys court a girl is crazy. One minute you're all lovey and the next it's, sorry honey got to go kill a guy. But, I guess true love is what's important and guys are wacked anyway. Lol. But, there is a happily every after so it's all good. Great story and great characters. Well worth the read.

so the plot is almost same every time but I still like the writing style of the book and how we get the POV of different characters in each chapter...the only thing is that every time in the book the man and the woman falls in love and then everything goes wrong and then suddenly we get to know that the woman is pregnant and then everything somehow gets solved and voila!!the book is finished!!
