I loved this one! Finch was the perfect hero for our heroine, Chris!! Her past was extremely traumatic and because of it the likelihood of her ever finding love was very low. When she discovers Finch for a business venture... that is illegal... they just immediately clicked. Finch ends up being so patient with her, and yet he doesn’t treat her like a victim. T he ey end up on a dark journey, and on the way their trust builds, and with that their attraction blazes!
This is a stand alone, but it’s also a part of the Henchmen series and the Navesink Bank world! I would recommend reading “The Rise of Ferryn “ first, because that is where the story of Chris’s past is told. It’s not for the faint of heart either.
Originally I was going to bypass this one as I didn’t think it needed to be read to continue the Henchmen series, but I am super glad I picked this one up! Not only do we get to see some of the crew, but Finch and Chris’s story is heartbreaking, heartwarming and so entertaining! I absolutely loved it!!!

Be still my beating heart I legit can't cope with the feels right now. Fuck sake. My delirious sleep deprived brain is not mentally prepared enough for this review. However... It's 1am and I can't sleep with all these thoughts so here we go...
Finally we get Chris's story. Chris is Lo and Cash's daughter. For those who are randomly coming across my review and have not read the impressively HUGE backlog of books by Jessica, you wouldn't be aware of Chris's start. Her story before her story. A little piece of advice... go back and read those books. My anal ass likes to have all the facts before starting a story and those books will give you that. If you don't care about that then this absolutely can be read as a standalone BUT again I recommend reading the others first. Aside from the fact they are just fucking great, they also give you a lot of answers and a little more understanding of Chris and her pre story.
I KNEW. without a fucking doubt. I was going to love Finch. It was the same feeling I had when I first read about Adler. That hella charismatic cocksure and yet sweet as pie confidence just hits the right spot for me. Finch was everything that Chris didn't want or know she needed. He was the calm to her storm. The chill to her highly strung. He fit her like the last piece of a puzzle. I liked his confidence and his witty humour but I fell in love with his patience and his empathy. His life hasn't been easy and he has his fair share of skeletons but it doesn't hold him down. What it does do is give him the ability to relate to her world and fit in seamlessly like he was always there.
Chris. God that women. Shit, she had me feeling all kinds of ways. She has come a LONG way from the girl she was at 16. Despite her fears she pushed through and fought tooth and nail to survive and thrive. Now that doesn't mean she's fixed up all better. Her kind of broken never really goes away. It's the kind that will forever be apart of her. But.. and it's a big one. She found a way to light her dark. Even if wasnt on her list. Finch lit a fire in Chris that no one, not a single other person could have. He found the most unconventional ways of making her forget. Of making her feel safe.
There is so many layers to their story with huge hard hitting topics that make it difficult at times to read. Chris and Finch don't have your typical heart and flowers romance. Not even by a long shot. Their story is uniquely them in all their quirky ways and for a lot of that, it's learning. The character growth is real here but it's not instantaneous. Their journey is raw, at times brutal and emotionally draining because there is a lot they have to overcome to get their happy. However Jessica being her brilliant self found a way to balance their journey so that it's not all sad and heartbreaking or anger filled. The subject matter is as important as it needs to be but so is the growth of these characters. They are living and learning and even loving a little, little by little until what they have is undeniable. There is no cat and mouse game or playing hard to get. It's straight shooting and hard work. It's finding sneaky ways to distract whist shameless flirting. It's learning to trust and love. It's raw but it's also beautiful. It's was easy to fall in love with them falling in love.
It's a slow burning journey. The chemistry was there from the beginning despite the many obstacles and the connection between them grew stronger with every interaction between them. They just fit and it felt right. They felt right. I can't really explain it in any other way.
As per, we get a amazing bunch of side characters both old and new(er) faces that just breath a different kind of life into their story. The fun unveiled threats. The sweet relationships. The loves... gah it's just a thing of greatness. I finished this book just feeling completely content and also greedy for more. It's that kind of story. The kind that gives you the best satisfaction but also leaves you never wanting it to end because it's just that good. I fumed, cried and shouted at the kindle. I laughed, sighed and swooned. I cheered for every obstacle Chris overcame and for every bit of happiness Finch gave her. It a story that comes full circle in the best way.
Now... I have questions. I won't ask them just yet because it's not released yet but all I'll say is Joss and Even. Oh you are damn right I caught that little nugget real quick.

Spoilers ahead 3.5* not quite 4 but what the heck?
I finished this days ago and forgot to write a review and now I'm lazy lol.
I didn't think Chris needed a J like this one, I thought she'd get an overprotective badass given what she'd been through but that's why I'm the reader and JG is the author because she knew what Christ needed much better than I did.
All in all I enjoyed it well enough
No cheating
Sex trafficking and rape are referenced here as Chris was a victim
No OW/OM drama
Awesome vigilante justice( I had hoped they'd track down every guy who'd hurt her but apparently not)

We’re back in Navesink Bank! Adopted by Lo and Cash following her rescue from captivity and years of gross abuse by pedophiles, Chris has struggled with memories of the violence and degradation for years. He's basically biding his time while hiding from his arch enemy. When his neighbors, Ferryn and Vance stroll in to his crappy apartment, he is cool. But when they are followed by the woman of his dreams, he’s intrigued by their proposition and willing and eager to help, so long as it involves getting to know Chris. As Chris and Finch explore their friendship and follow what becomes “their” quest, we bear witness to a thing of beauty: blossoming trust, devotion and faith. Absolutely gorgeous story!

Finch is PERFECT for Chris!
In Jessica Gadziala's newest standalone, Counterfeit Love, she proves again that sometimes the best thing for a broken soul is another slightly less damaged soul.
Chris is living a life of almost complete solitude, unable to even sleep in a room with someone else. She has a plan though, and to make it work she needs Finch.
Finch is living in a nasty, grimy studio apartment listening to his neighbors have very enthusiastic sexy times, far too often, when Chris barrels into his apartment and tells him the way of things. With pdf lists and everything Chris knows exactly how this will work. What she didn't expect, was to find a man willing work with all of her issues until she was comfortable with him.
From buying bizarre, often ugly, items solely to annoy her, to guessing her favourite food, Finch is down with whatever Chris needs. He also thrives on Chris's boss babe attitude, her need to compulsively organize things, and her (subconscious?) need for someone her own age to help even out the balance, and lighten the load both mentally and physically.
Before they can find out whether they really click together, or just swimming in some lust filled pool of unsatisfied desire, things go really sideways. By the time they reach the end, Chris and Finch will find out exactly how strong the other is and what they will do to make sure everyone gets exactly what they deserve.
Counterfeit Love is an EPIC, slow burn, action packed novel worth at least 6 stars!! Catapulting it's way into my top 5 books of 2019, Counterfeit Love was worth every tear and giggle, and holy mother of all epilogues!! Jessica Gadziala continues to WOW me each and every time!

WOW! What a book!
An unbelievable emotional, gripping and very unique love story.
As usual, Jessica has taken us on a rollercoaster of feelings and fears.
I don't even know how to explain how heartbreaking beautiful this book is without spoiling this experience for you.
Chris is a broken girl that tries to survive every day, without having a panic attacks.
On the outside she is a badass, fearless, organized to perfection/obsession women.
On the inside is she a broken girl with no hope of healing, with breakdowns that appears day and night without warning.
What she experienced in the past haunt her every day.
Finch is light and casual, someone laid-back, slow to anger and quick to tease you or throw a compliment.
The exact opposite of the efficient, no bullshit Chris.
But he is smart, observant and patient.
And with enough patience and time he shows Chris that she is worth more than her past, that she can get over her demons.
This is not a sweet and dreamy story. Ok, it's, but not like you would expect... 🤭

You have to discover the rest for yourself, so read this book and enjoy. I definitely enjoyed and loved this amazing book very much.

Cinnamon Roll love interest, who will help you bury the bodies, who doesn’t want that!?! 😆 I loved it. I loved watching these two opposites compliment each other so well. This was all the things I love about a Jessica Gadziala book. I smiled. I cried happy tears at the end. Had my heart all squished up over these characters. There’s nothing better than watching two people love each other for all their quirks and issues, not in spite of them. This made me so happy. I’m done gushing. That is all. ♥️🌿

I read a lot of romance and Jessica Gadziala is a favorite author so it’s not often I am surprised when reading a new book, especially a new book from Jessica. But Counterfeit Love was a lovely surprise. Not in the in your face scared you way or because it had twists and turns but because it goodness sneaks up on you much the way love snuck up on Chris and Finch.
Chris is broken by a past too horrible to comprehend. At 16 she was taken and victimized in the worst possible ways. Though she was rescued, adopted and loved, she still flinches around men and needs to have complete control in her life. Chris exerts control through plans, lists, structure, a highly analytical mind and obsessive work ethic that makes her the perfect trainee to someday take over the paramilitary organization her adopted mom runs.
Finch has his own skeletons and hurt but his approach to life is to enjoy every last drop and take nothing too seriously. An accomplished counterfeiter, all Finch wants to do is not work too hard and have enough clean money to retire to a beach somewhere.
This seemingly ill-fitted couple is actually the perfect compliment for one another. Chris makes Finch a better man. She brings out his innate goodness, his tenderness and his big heart. While Finch teaches Chris how to open herself up, to laugh, live and love.
The ultimate in slow burn stories. You get a courtside view to the growth of a romance and a couple. Chris’s history is handled with TLC and compassion, both by the author and by Finch. And the tender way their emotional and physical relationship develops brings you right along in their journey.
A 5 star read and one of my favorite Jessica Gadziala books to date. Whether you have read other books in the Navesink Bank universe or this is your first, Counterfeit Love is not to be missed.

Gah! What an amazing new stand-alone from Jessica Gadziala. Finch was the perfect guy for Chris; he was so patient with her, and understanding of her quirks that came from being kidnapped and held captive for so long when she was younger. Finch knew just how to push her buttons, and get Chris to finally open herself up and live, while also respecting her boundaries. I can’t get enough of this couple and loved every minute of this book!

I really enjoyed this one and Chris and Finch are absolutely perfect for each other. I had worried that Chris would never find her other half but she does and he’s wonderful.
Chris wants Finch to bankroll their mission. And by their I mean Chris, Badass Barbie and MC Ken.

I love still being able to be surprised by the stories this author writes. With this being Christienne's book who suffered so much at the hands of sex traffickers I didn't know which way the author would go with the story. Would it be really dark with Chris being a mess still and only out for vengeance and unable to allow any form of intimacy in her life? What we got was a Chris who is doing better after years of therapy but left with many OCD traits along with the fear of intimacy. But she (nor we as the readers) ready for the infectious personality of Finch McAwley.
For all the holes in Chris's dam, Finch easily had a plug for everyone. I appreciate that his eventual love for Chris was never cheesy. It was just easy going, mixed with humor and a lot of questionable taste in furniture :) Even on joining her quest of taking down traffickers he was so calm to her anxious. Perfect pairing like I said but with no cheesiness.
LOVED.... Here is to one day getting that big brute of man Malcolm's story :)

Let me start by saying this can be read as a stand alone.
Jessica has done it again. She can write one of the best female characters! Chris was absolutely amazing. Take charge, make a list, do the research and get no sleep until she can get the job done. She thrives on order and familiar comforts. And let's not for get her amazing parents Cash and Lo. She has the best support and a very strong adopted family.
Finch. His name alone got me. It hints at a panty dropping smile and a little bit of mischief. He is a very laid back go with the flow kind of guy. That is exactly why Chris and Finch just click. The whole opposites attract. What an amazing chemistry they have together. And they have such amazing friends with Malcolm, Ferryn and Vance.
The ending is so sweet and went full circle. Their daughter Joss is definitely filling in her mom's foot prints! As always I can't wait for more!

The whole opposites attract. What an amazing chemistry they have together. And they have such amazing friends with Malcolm, Ferryn and Vance.
The ending is so sweet and went full circle. Their daughter Joss is definitely filling in her mom's foot prints! As always I can't wait for more!

SO GOOD! Honestly, your heart will break for Chris and everything she's been through but you will definitely be her biggest fan as we get the chance to see the woman she's become. && Finch GAH! His easy going nature, his ability to read Chris... you will for sure be smiling from ear to ear and swooning over his antics. These two and their journey to HEA was easy... uncomplicated && simply amazing 💙

Finch and Chris are a perfect combination. I'm so glad Chris got her HEA. After everything she had been through, Finch was the best antidote. The characters, the story flow and results were perfect and so satisfying.

Absolutely beautiful story!! Chris being theOne with the Really tough shell, and the emotional baggage. Finch is the cool cucumber who nothing seems to rile him up. They are so amazing together. I love his patience and his ability to calm her anxiety without being pushy. The story had enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat and enough sweet to make your chest tighten. And enough Finch to make you laugh out loud. It is a perfect combination. I Loved this story!

Good book, excellent writing and at times intriguing story. I just had one issue; the characters felt very, very young. This isn’t really a problem, but made it hard for me to connect and identify with either characters. The heroine was strong and independent, but seem to be in her late teens or early twenties. Same with the hero, but compared to my kind of heroes I found him to be too soft and too laid back. He was definitely no alpha.
Also some names work and others don’t. Chris doesn’t work for this heroine in my opinion.
Plot.
The girl, Chris, sets out to take down human trafficking and needs help from the guy, Adam. She has experienced it first hand, and is therefor set to do everything to achieve her goals even blackmailing others to help her out, like with Adam. Adam is intrigued by her from the start and goes along with her mission, but with his own mission as well; to win her over. He earns her trust, and they slowly start up a relationship. He’s also with her when she ends the life of one of her previous abusers. Adam gets kidnapped by an old enemy, but Chris saves him and they end up happily ever after.

I loved Finch. He was great with Chris. Why does Jessica make being a criminal look so attractive? Or at least all of these characters are so attractive I can care less is if they break the law. Looking forward to more.

I am not sure if I am going to be able to convey how much I loved this book! I had been anticipating Chris’ story and her happily ever after for a while now. Her past is tortured to say the least and in Counterfeit Love we see how much she had tried to heal and move on, but it has been a difficult road. But she has a brilliant mind and her determination to take down those who hurt like she was hurt has been what kept her going. And to keep this operation going, Finch is who she needs and she will do whatever needs to be done.
Finch is the complete opposite of Chris, he is laid back, patient and the understanding he has of her is fantastic. I love this man! He brings such lightness and fun to her life. And then to see Chris slowly give her own love back to him, starting with some lollipops.
Even though the topics of this story are dark and heavy, the love story between Chris and Finch definitely evened it out for me and made it one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this book, but I pretty much recommend all of Jessica Gadziala’s books!

Yes!!! Finch and Chris's story was EVERYTHING!! I absolutely adored their story and how their lives led then to each other. It was everything they deserved and more. Jessica is a mistress of words and she weaves a story unlike many others. I cannot get enough 🖤🖤

Counterfeit Love was everything I needed & more!! I cant wait for everyone else to get their hands on Chris & Finch's story. You'll love watching Chris grow into herself while also laughing yourself silly with the things Finch says. 🤣🖤🖤

This is my favorite book Jessica has written. I loved everything about it! Finch might be my favorite H. He is definitely in the too three. I strongly recommend you read this book, especially if you follow the Henchmen and Hailstorm. You will not be disappointed!

Outstanding!!!
Chris and Finch are just what each other need in their lives. Sometime your past makes it hard for you to take steps forward in the present. You need someone that will except you as you are while still trying to make your life better. That is what these two do for each other.
The life they create is a special one I am glad that JG shared it with the world. Epilogue was brilliant!

Enjoyed this one more than The Rise if Farryn, I found Chris much more likable even though she was a bitch boss babe. Finch was also great, so different than many of the guys in Navesink Bank. I loved how he was happy to let her take charge and knew she .
I did feel like the intimate parts were a little too rushed especially for Chris’ background and her own thoughts about herself and the subject of sex. But Finch was sweet throughout.

5 Counterfeit Stars
Counterfeit Love is a standalone book from Jessica Gadziala but it has a lot of familiar characters from previous books. It starts of pretty dark but that didn't stop me from devouring this book. It was a page turner from the start.
Finch is one of the best in the world who can counterfeit money to look and feel like the real deal. Chris find out he is in Navesink Bank and essential blackmails him to bank roll a job for her. Finch is a laid back kinda guy and falls in with this sassy, pain in the ass amazing woman and will do anything to get to know her better. But Chris is basically living a life of solitude and is having none of it... Until she is...
Counterfeit Love is such a great read, a slow burner packed full of emotions to tug at the heart strings. Whether you have read other books in the Navesink Bank universe or not this is a must read.
