Slade King suddenly became the CEO of his family’s ski resort as well as the leader of the King pack. He stepped into the role flawlessly and reigned over King Mountain with ease. Until his wolf leads him to a broken and bruised woman on the brink of death deep in a wooded area of his mountain, where no human should be. With the help of his pack, he takes her back to his cabin and nurses her back to health. But something is amiss, and Slade can sense it. Caly North wakes up in an unfamiliar bedroom to find a huge, albeit handsome, stranger watching over her and no recollection of the incident that caused her injuries. With no other options, she does the only thing she can and allows him to help her. After Caly recalls being attacked on the side of the road, Slade vows to protect her, and the hunt for her assailant begins. Little did either of them know, they would find much more than a killer.

I'm in the minority here. He was an alpha arsehole, he yelled, sneered and bullied but it was all for her sake of course. There were two mean girls in the beginning, their punishment was to drop their pants and get whipped with a belt, wtf. They will learn after they are blistered of course. He doesn't tell the h he is going to mark her, just does it. The bite, which she yells at him to stop, freaks her out. She bites back, instinct, and she is the bad person, that was not ok. At one point handcuffs were used and there's quite a bit of spanking. This is just a few instances of a long line of things that just weren't my thing.

This book had potential but I felt like some things moved too fast or were quickly passed over. The way of pack life wasn't explained very well in my opinion and neither was how the shifters work in this world. The romance also felt very lackluster since the characters barely spent time together when Slade wasn't being a growly asshole.  He gave me whiplash from going from a hero that wanted to protect Caly to the big bad alpha that was getting mad at her for something stupid. There were scenes where he seemed to just fly off the handle and suddenly get mad and I couldn't even figure out what had that change happening. It led to some confusing scenes and definitely never felt a connection between him and Caly during his freak outs. Overall, not a horrible book and I did enjoy some of the premise. I've enjoyed this authors biker books but I don't think I'll read more PNR from her.

OMG what a world you step into when you enter King Mountain Shifters. From the first page until the last this book holds you in its grip. It is truly unputdownable (made up word but it caused for it). Slade never once looking for his mate stumbles upon a woman with no idea who she is. Calypso (Clay) is a match made for Slade in more ways than one. Beautiful storytelling at its finest filled with intrigue, a mystery that needs to be unlocked and a passion so explosive that your kindle will start to melt. I truly enjoyed this wonderfully told story and so will you cause it’s that good!

Slade King is the CEO and Alpha of the King Mountain pack. When he finds an injured woman barely surviving in on his land, his first impulse is to protect her. What he doesn't expect is to find she has no memory of what happened to her. There is something about Caly North that calls to Slade, he knows who she is to him but he wants answers to some lingering questions about the mysterious woman before he takes the step of claiming her as his mate.

This was a bit different from typical Paranormal shifter stories. I thought it was interesting because Caly is a bit of a conundrum and she is not aware of her past and when she does remember some there is a lot that doesn't make sense to Slade. Slade is a bit more dominant then this authors other books. Good story, anxious to see where the series goes.

Honestly, I am not sure where to begin with this book. My mind is blown. I couldn’t get enough. I think I have my new fave naughty PNR book and this series will be so much more. Going into this book, I was excited because of the premise of it. To say that Brooks did NOT disappoint is an understatement. She gives us this unique and one of a kind story with shifters that will have you speechless. I was seriously blown away at the spellbinding story. There is intense passion, epic intrigue and a unique mystery surrounding it all. I love how much of a fighter Caly is. She gives as good as she gets and holds her own regardless of what has been thrown at you. Then you have Slade is just holy hot Alpha much! He is pure sin and I adore his protective nature and how he just wants the best for the pack. Put these two together and you have something so explosive!
Overall, I honestly devoured this book. The fluidity of the story to the character build and learning every tidbit you can about everyone involved will have you begging for more. I wanted to scream, only because it was over. I wanted more. I need more. Brooks is an amazing storyteller and she has pure magic with Slade. It is raw and passionate. It is emotional but fierce. It has absolutely everything. It is pure magic and beyond spellbinding. I feel like I am rambling because I just want to scream how amazing this story was. I enjoyed every word and it is definitely going to be a top read of 2020!!

This is the first book in the King Mountain Shifters series by Teagan Brooks.

I enjoyed Teagan’s Blackwings MC series although I did get sick of the whole long lost brother/sister trope that seemed to be in almost every book.

I really enjoyed this book, I liked the characters and the story was good also.

Slade King is a wolf shifter and the Alpha of his pack, he’s also the CEO of his family’s luxury ski resort—King Mountain Resort. He lives with his brother Elias, who is his Beta, and his cousin Roman is his head of security and third in charge.

One night he smells blood coming from the woods where no humans should ever be. He discovers a woman curled up on the ground who is injured and scared. He brings her unconscious body back to his cabin and has his men patrol for other humans.

There is something about this strange woman that intrigues Slade and also has his wolf wanting to claim her.

When Caly wakes up in a strange bed in a house owned by two gorgeous men she can’t remember how she ended up in the mountains or who hurt her. The last thing she remembers was finding her father dead and seeing her mother struggling with the killer and telling her to run.

Slade knows Caly is hiding something but he feels compelled to help her anyway so he gives her a job at his resort. There is a lot more to Caly than meets the eye and with her comes danger to King’s Mountain that puts the whole pack in danger.

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Slade is book one in the ‘’King mountain shifters’’ series. I devoured this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Slade is a wolf shifter and the alpha of his pack. When he finds an injured young woman he knows he has to help. Caly isn’t sure what is going on. Her life has took a turn that can’t be undone. Will she get answers, be safe and find love?
The chemistry between Slade and Caly is clear to see and I loved them together. I thought that they made a great couple.
I really liked the addition of Grayson, Tabitha and Kody in this story. Caly went from losing the only family she had to getting a huge new one she knew nothing about.
I loved the twists and turns in this story. I loved what Caly was and what she was able to do.
I really hated Felicia. I loved that she didn’t get her triumph.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

It’s official! Teagan Brooks has completely converted me into a shifter fan! I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. She always knows how to keep me guessing and turn the page and Slade is no different. From the start you know Slade is a tall dark and handsome alpha that you want more of instantly! As pack alpha and CEO of his families ski resort the pressure in on for Slade to find his mate. He’s completely in for more than he bargained for though when he stumbles upon a battered and broken human in the woods. What happens when two worlds collide? Not everyone will survive. Secrets will be revealed, love will be found, and the past will come back to haunt. I read this book and then read it again because as soon as I finished I needed more. As they say, this is “Another one for the books!”

Stellar Shifter Romance!

This intriguing and unique shifter romance will grab your attention and keep it from the first page to the last. Loved the plot, the main two characters with depth and lots of emotion, the side characters with their own rich personalities, and the detail that really made this book special. The suspense was well done with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. REALLY enjoyed this one and highly recommend this wolf shifter romance.

DANG! I loved this book. I first read Teagan Brooks when she came out with Dash and the original cover. I got sidetracked and skipped a few, but none the less came back when I read this blurb. She delivered, and I can’t wait to read about London and more about Elias and Gretchen.

Caly was left for dead on a mountain, on one that would have been occupied by humans walking. No, this was a mountain that was meant for Caly never to be found on. However, someone found Caly.

Slade may be Alpha of the King pack, but something told him Caly wasn’t a human and something special about her. With his brother Elias, they work on discovering who Caly is and what brought her to their mountain.

This story had me gripped from the very beginning. I loved that as I read, we learned a little more about Caly, what brought her here and what it means for the future of all packs! I loved the side characters, as well. Elias and Gretchen were perfect, and I hope something evolves with them. Also, I am intrigued to see what more Caly has to learn and offer to the pack!

I did not like this book on any level. Its a shame because I love all of this author's books until now. Its just not engaging on any level but I kept pushing because I normally enjoy this author and I love PNR. Then we get to a scene where 2 bad behaving she-wolves are punished and I'm not talking sexually. He calls in the Beta to pull their pants and underwear down and whip them with a belt. I mean, corporal punishment much?? While we didnt see the scene up close and personal, its alluded to and then revisited as it seems the whipping is continuing for hours. It honestly put me off so much I stopped the book. It made me feel super uncomfortable. Anyway, this is not for me. I guess for this author, I will stick to non-PNR.

Slade is the Alpha of his pack when he discovers an injured Caly on their lands he gets her help. Unknown to Caly or Slade finding her sets in motion a change of events thats been building for a very long time. Who attacked Caly? How did she get onto pack land? What does she mean to Slade? Read to get all these answers and more! This is the start of a great shifter series and I cant wait for the next book.

"Slade" has murder, mystery, growly, bossy alphas and steamy times. What more can anyone ask for? The ending is not exactly a cliffhanger, but does leave me eager for book 2. This is a romance, but it was more about the mystery of why Caly was being hunted than the whole love at first sight thing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was kind of like unraveling a knot! The storyline was entertainingting. The plot had interesting twists. Well done!

I’ve never been a huge shifter fan, I would read some of the books, but not a lot. At least until one of my favorite MC authors wrote this one.. Slade is an awesome book. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

1 star- Interesting enough to finish
No Stars- DNF maybe another time

My review below(spoilers)

Just to get this out the way the romance level could have been picked up a little it felt very clinical to me. I would have liked a bit more passion not instalove but more sweep her off her feet kinda romance. It felt like bc of the bond it automatically filled in the blanks. Another thing that ending I mean! In the beginning I thought this book would be a standalone and the other secondary characters would have their own stories but halfway through the book I figured Slade and Carly’s story must go on. And then the end comes and I’m confused is this just how we are ending things or will we have a chance to find out in book two? No idea guys but it’s still a pretty good story. The twist of what kind of animal she shifts to was really kool. The secondary characters this story had a few were all so fascinating could see for sure at least three to four stories that could be shared about them. Sex scenes were awesome detailed with good amount of dirty talk.

I have limited experience with shifter books (maybe one? two?), so I don't have much to compare this book to. I guess it was good for the genre? I enjoyed it for the most part. I have no idea if it was unique or not, but it was entertaining. I loved the ending, but then there are no more books. So, yeah. Bummer.

Slade's a wolf, an Alpha, and he runs a ski lodge with the rest of his pack. One day, he finds a beautiful woman unconscious in a cave out in the middle of nowhere in the cold. He rallies the Paw Patrol, and they save her life, bringing her back to their private cabin. Caly awakes to find herself with some hunky men--Slade in particular. She had no memory of what happened to her, despite these overprotective studs questioning her. All she knows is that she was attacked. Slade goes into protector mode, and Caly--with not a cent to her name--begins to work at the lodge. The more time she spends with the pack (unbeknownst to her), the more memories come to her, and a truth that will affect all shifters is revealed.

The story had some interesting elements to it. Slade was definitely an alphahole, and he didn't have any depth to him. Caly had more dimension, but she was underutilized. The plot was fast-paced and had some twists in it I was not expecting. As I said previously, I loved the ending and really want a Book Two, but I'm not sure if that's in the cards? Hopefully.

While a woman is being murdered, she directs her daughter to run for her life! On a run, Alpha Slade King finds Calypso ‘Caly’ North huddled, beaten, bruised and bloodied in a difficult place to reach in his territory. Slade and his brother/beta, Elias take her to their shared house to heal. Caly doesn’t have much memory to share other than her name.

When Caly’s body heals a bit but not her memory, Slade gives her a job at his resort. Working at her housekeeping duties, Caly sees the man that killed her parents and he tries to take her by force. Fighting back, Caly surprisingly wins. The episode not only unlocked her memories it also opens a pandora’s box that could tilt the axis of the shifter world and has Slade scrambling.

This outing disappointed after a promising synopsis it was barely good. To my taste, Slade’s behavior was more toddler-like than leader (punishments, temper tantrums, etc), uneven pacing and unresolved ending. That said, those are unfortunately common enough first read mis-steps that could be resolved in another outing and grow into a successful series.

Slade & Caly: triggers-sexual assault. This is a very interesting story. Very original until it's not. I loved the concept. Shifters literally cross breeding with other shifter (animals) and one person not accepting of that. Caly had lived most of her life living under the radar with her parents. Until one day, her parents are murdered. She runs and the is found by the Alpha of King mountain. Then caly's world implodes as she and the alpha uncover secrets her parents kept for her safety. It's a lot deeper than that but very mysterious. One I didn't like was the last, I guess, showdown. It was very anticlimactic. Almost forgotten. I also felt that some scenes in the book are almost identical to scenes in Stephanie Meyers "Twilight: Breaking Dawn", parts 1 & 2 if you've only watched the movie and not great the book. And considering there's a scene where two of her characters are actually watching the movie "Twilight", it's not a hard jump. If you're a fan of the Twilight Saga.. You'll know it when you read it.

Great start to a shifter series!

This book was about a shifter alpha who found a woman beaten and bloody laying out in a remote spot on their mountain . The shifter family also run a ski resort . He helps this woman and they are drawn together . They realize she is his mate but how can a human woman be a wolf’s mate? This was a great start and the ending left this story open and set a foundation for the vampire books this author is writing as well . I am excited to see what she does in the future with these characters .

I really liked this book. The book had great setup for many more lines of books a line for bear shifters, feline and extended family lines. I am excited to see what in next in this family line as well as what happens between several charters in this book. The passion scenes were more detailed in line with shifter relationships. Is this author had more aggressive passion scenes in the MC book series as well. So many questions to be answered in the next hopeful book.

Teagan Brooks does it again with another fantastic book. I honestly could not put this book down, it was amazing. Right from the very first page I was hooked. Slade was just an amazing alpha male and I absolutely loved him with all my heart. Caly was such an amazing heroine, she was sweet, sassy, funny, independent, and everything I could have asked for in a female lead. I can’t wait to have this book in paperback.

New Shifter Queen

I am a big fan of Teagan Brooks and love her Blackwings Mc books, and Slade did not disappoint. Loved the story, it had action, strong, passionate & interesting characters (which hopefully can result in many more books), attraction & chemistry between Slade Caly that kept building during the story and not to forget the drama and plots that we will hopefully read more about in future books.

Slade and Caly

I'm not usually into shifter stories, but I really enjoyed the other stories from this author, so I gave this one a try and it was very interesting to learn that some could shift into two different animals the way that Caly did. I was sad for the way and the why and the who would do such heinous acts from their own family, but I was equally glad that Caly found other family that she's never met. Slade was a true alpha wolf shifter. Happy reading.

Wow that wad a good book

The world build is so interesting and the characters are likeable and entertaining. The writing style is very good. There's just so much that happens to be able to say much without spoilers which I HATE in a review. Slade is sexy protective. Caly meets Slate when she's slowly dying and he saves her. They could never imagine what twists and turns ate about to happen. I can't wait for book 2.

Good book and different than other shifter novels I’ve read (anatomy is not different, nothing related to mating, no special animal characteristics when in human form etc). Might read other books by this author if it was shifter related. Given that this book was written in 2020 and a second book hasn’t come out, maybe this series is done? All other books by this author are motorcycle club related, which isn’t really an interest of mine.

DNF

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. The writing seemed very elementary, the conversations dull, and I couldn’t get into the story. I made it to about 46% and I just didn’t want to go any further. I’m disappointed because I’ve enjoyed TB’s other books. But this one just missed the mark for me.

Shifter book by Teagan Brooks

I’ve read Teagans’s MC stories and they are some of my favorite books. This is a new genre for her and I loved it. Caly is put through hell but Slade rescues her and helps her decipher her whole life. He also discovered she was his mate. Lots of suspense. Not too much angst but a great read.
