What’s wrong Baby Blue? Did you mistake his forced sincerity for love?

Every kiss will fade in time.
Every memory will fade in time.
Every smile, every teardrop, every wound—it’ll all dry up—in time.
But every lie? That shit only gets bigger and more devastating with time.

In time... I’lol learn to let him go, but not without leaving my bitter mark on him like he carelessly ruined my soul with his cold, rough touch.

In time I’ll learn to forgive this that have wronged me as savagely as they did.
In time I’ll rise from the ashes and sour.
In time the Blue Boys will learn to take me seriously come hell or high water.

But for right now, we’re in the final blue act, playing for hateful truths—our audience of two faced snakes cheering for the hate and the breaking.

Resentment, toxic anger, lies and betrayal are the rules of the game.
The price? A bitter ending.

What will break? My hate or your heart?

Because baby, love means absolutely nothing when it falls on broken, shattered souls like ours.

Thandie is a simple millennial who’s just trying to make avocado toast at two am and finish the next novel that she hopes you’ll fall in love with all while she tries to secure her entire life in one go.

But these are all lies! She really spends an insane amount of time on Instagram, stalking Beyonce for the next album release which she swears might drop at anytime. Sorry to that lady.

MY REVIEW AND OTHERS: can also be found on my blog:
➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'BROKEN HATE' is the third full length romance book in Thandiwe Mpofu's 'Westbrook Blues' series. It picks up where the second book left off.

This book is definitely unputdownable, unique and unpredictable in every sense. Most importantly 'Broken Hate' is not just your ordinary romance, it's so much more..

When we asked for more, the author listened! And boy did we get more!
More angst
More betrayal
More secrets
More deception
More heartbreak
More feels
More twists and turns
More heart stopping moments... Heartbeat. Heartbeat. Heartbeat

This book is crammed full of answers to all our questions, past and present collide. My brain was on overload, my heart was nearing breaking point, my anticipation levels were out of control. This author threw everything she could at us, and I loved every minute of it.

I inhaled it, devoured it, loved it.

When this first landed on my kindle, I gulped at the sheer volume of it, it’s like 3 books crammed in 1, old information and new information was thrown into the mix, old loyalties were at each other’s throats, new threats were on the horizon.

✨I'm sadly arrived at the end of this beautiful, broken and tormented story.
me right now:
I don't know what else to say other than that this book has gained a special place in my all times favorites books list.
I loved every single page, since beginning to end I was holding my breath .
All that flashbacks bringing all back .
ME AFTER EACH CHAPTER :

But most of all all the words that were spoken between the four of them where so meaningful .
Each word held the power to destroy a soul .
All that secrets that finally were on the outside , made finding the truth even more challenging .
The last chapters were really everything , they held the real essence of the book .
I couldn't wish for a better ending .
I won't spoiler but I promise you wouldn't regret reading this series .not even for a bit.
And the fact that there were so many questions without an answer makes me even more exited and hopeful for the next books in the series .✨
ENJOY ✨

Well fuck Ace and Astrea’s story I was literally crying a fucking river for Eli and Clarie.

But to tell you about the book, honestly it was only the last 20% that did it for me, the rest of the book was frustrating to read with all the characters wanting me to knock some sense into them for being over dramatic. I think the book was exaggerated and it could have been written so well and would have been shorter than this, I don’t know what went wrong. And don’t get me started on the typing mistakes, yeah it wasn’t fun to figure out some things on your own.

**Please note, the first three books of the Westbrook Blues series follow the journey of Ace and Astraea, so this is not a standalone. Reckless Hate and Vicious Hate have to be read first, respectively!

O.m.g. This trilogy just went on forever! I read book 1 completely and rate that one 3 stars. I couldn't quite get into book 2. Read ch 1-2, skimmed, then read the last ch. 1-star for book 2. Book 3 is looooooong. Read ch 1-3, skimmed, read the last 4 ch and epilogues. Also 1-star for this one. The editing, spelling and grammar in all 3 books is terrible.
The story is pretty fantastical, and I couldn't relate to it. I can't imagine 7-8 year olds having the realizations the main characters had at that age. Even the way they live their lives later on, doesn't sound normal for those age groups. I took to imagining everything happening 10 years later than the authors timeline.
Anyway, too many characters, too many screwed up parents, too much drama, too much swearing, too many repetitions - enough to make my head hurt AND I didn't even read the entire thing.

Ok-first things first.

This was a much stronger book than the first one. It was hard to put down for the first 3/4s.

So many spelling errors though. So many.

And Larry and Brittney?? Really?? That was not necessary. At all.

The last quarter was messy but perhaps to set up for the next book?

Star and Ace are toxic but deeply drawn to each other. I’m glad they’re both in therapy and healthier now.

I often have to remind myself that these main characters are only 18 and they have so many connections and so much strength and worldly experience.

Sorry for the ramble. It’s a good book. Incredibly detailed and mainly well written. Just needs some more editing and tightening up in the last quarter and to be slightly less incredulous.

Okay, now first I am going to give you guys a task!!! Imagine me sitting in the middle of the bed, with a packet of nachos beside me and with my kindle in my hand. There are lots and lots of tissues around me and yup!!! I am sobbing my heart out.
There you go!! Great job!! You just imagined me by the end of this book!!I mentioned in my last review of the second book of this trilogy, that I would be a blubbering mess by the end of this series and the author did stay true to her word. I was indeed sobbing. I have read a lot of books but there are only a few series that are good enough to read again and again. And this series!!! My god, it's like my brain doesn't want to move on!!!

Love breaks. Love devastates. Love is a lie—until the truth is too painful to bear. The truth that, you can love broken souls, but soon, they’ll break you too…

THANDIWE MPOFU just took my heart in her hands and pretty much crushed it,. And I am tempted to thank her!!!??????
Yuppp, you read it right. She is that amazing!!
The twists and turns in this book are absolutely mind blowing. This book picked up right from the point where the second book ended. Can I just say ,I absolutely loved how badass Astraea was in the starting of this book!!😂😂 The boys were so goddamn shocked!! It was funny as hell to read!!!!
Please read this series!!! It's amazing!!!

It feels like the walls are closing in on me, preparing to crush me to death—but only enough to toss me to hell a bit alive but also a whole lot dead, just so I can feel the persistent ache of the deep, gaping hole in my chest, the size of her small, tiny fist.

There was another thing that i would like to appreciate about this book!!! the way the author gave us the ending twist, my god!! here was certain character (I won't give you any spoilers) whose whole story the author changed in just one chapter. There was only one chapter from that characters POV and it made the book even 100 times more interesting and again had me reduced to tears!! that character deserved so much better!!!(those who know, know)
I just can't wait for Noah and Emmett' books!!
I'll probably be the first in line to buy them!!😂😂😂

Update: I had to remove stars from the original 5 star review because even after the trilogy was removed for revisions, I discovered that other than new covers they are still full of basic proofreading errors. If you take time to remove a book to revise it, then it makes no sense to ignore fixing the actual errors. Also during my re-read of the newly "revised" editions I found the repetitive statements/scenes, extremely slow pacing, and neverending internal dialogue more bothersome in all 3 books. There is a lack of actual character interaction in this particular book and it seemed to drag on longer than necessary. When I first read it a year ago I was just so excited to finally get the conclusion to the story so I didn't notice some of these things back then.

Taking time to actually make corrections to errors (errors that I know for a fact were pointed out before publishing), should be a priority. Ignoring these errors means even books with amazing potential might not sell as well because basic errors take away from some readers enjoyment, especially if there are large numbers of errors. The editing issue has been a consistent issue with this author and it saddens me because there is such amazing potential for a great series that could be getting much more hype/love from readers.

Original Review:
Just finished this last night and my emotions are still all over the place. This is a very long, emotional book... but if you've ever been in love you know love doesn't fit in a perfect box, neat and tidy... love can be messy, chaotic, heartbreaking, frustrating, and everything in between. Go in to this one with an open heart and mind. Be ready to cry, laugh, love, hate, and break before you reach the end. And NO CHEATING by skipping to the end first, you have to experience the whole journey to truly understand and appreciate these characters. We learn so many more details about their pasts and how their bonds were formed. We see characters evolve and grow into stronger, better versions of themselves. The journey the writer takes us on is heartbreaking, emotional, and yet necessary to get to the end. The conclusion to the Westbrook Blues series was well worth the wait. Be sure to read the message about triggers found at the beginning of the book, as this story contains many dark, sensitive topics that may not be suitable for everyone.

So the good is we got a conclusion to this story that we had been waiting on and it is an HEA. The bad though ended up out weighting the good for me with this one.

This really needs to spend more time with an editor. There is quite a lot of spelling and grammar errors throughout but I think one of the bigger problems is the plot holes which made it so the author could tie up the story but ended being what ruined it for me. There is a lot of drama and shock factor happening but it really can't make up for the problems with the story arc and the contortion the author had to do to make everything fit into a nice package with a bow on it.

Another major issue turned out to be all the handwritten letters and notes sprinkled through the story. They are in a font that is hard to read and if you are on an e-reader you are going to have to blow the font up really huge to have any hope of making out what it says. This wouldn't be so bad if they were translated into type but none of them are.

I was nervous, excited and scared to start BH. I'm a huge fan of this series but I knew what was waiting for me. I was also sad to say goodbye to these characters... (for now).

This book wrecked me. It was heartbreaking and the Angst?! Omg, don't get me started! At one point I put down my kindle, took a deep breath that I didn't realize I was holding.... Picked it up and continued. So many twists and turns, lies, secrets, confessions, surprises....

I know a book is amazing when I start whisper yelling at my kindle. Lol. Yes! I did it a few times while reading this book.

A few times I found myself teary eyed, looking around for tissue. .. but one part made me gasp and I realized deep down I was waiting for it, I needed it, I yearned for it. Ugh, Amazing!

This book may not be for everyone. Certain things may trigger some people. With that being said, It was perfect for me. The good, bad, emotional rollercoaster, I. Was. Addicted.

This read was a Whirlwind, A Beautiful Disaster that stole my heart and soul from the very beginning.

I've been staring at a blank page trying to write a review for this book ever since I finished it... but there are just no words to describe this book or how it made me feel. Ace and Stars story literally ripped my heart out and then stomped on it. This book made me want to toss my kindle at my wall.

I've never read a book like this, EVER! And I am still so shook and amazed. It was insane and I was reeling from it until the end of the book. There were so many tears and heartache, like my heart literally hurt for the unknown and for these characters and I couldn't stop reading... I just had to know how it all would end and that ending man...

At one point, I thought this book wouldn't have an HEA but it did and it warmed my heart and had me in tears again.

I just.... I loved this book with all my heart even though my heart was in a shamble of tiny pieces from reading it. I love these two amazing characters and their epic, crazy and uniquely damaged love story.

Okay, I decided to finally write my review for this series and yes, it only took forever to do that (kidding..probably 2 weeks).

This series went real deep. It was the first I've read from Thandiwe Mpofu and I really didn't know what to expect. Man..this writer is freaking talented! She really knows how to wrench out those feelings from you and knows exactly how to make the reader connected to her story. I mean I got so emotionally involved that I had to take a break from this series while reading book 3 for almost 2 months! I just couldn't continue. Her TRIGGER WARNINGS about suicide and self harm SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. I mean, I'm a Psychologist and I know the depth of such feelings..but the way Thandiwe wrote about Astraea's POV especially before and after her suicide attempts..God..they really brought me down into a dark place. Which is also one of the reasons why I had to stop reading this book for almost 2 months and instead read more lighter books to distract myself (the other reason being..damn..this last book was way too long). The author knows exactly how to write such lows and her ability to make her readers feel the exact same things as her characters is something that each writer strives for. I guess it's easy to fall in love with characters through their highs and lows but to make the readers feel exactly like the characters especially through their lowest of lows..damn Thandiwe, "You definitely are a gifted writer!"

So onto the series..by book 3 you finally realise that Every Single Thing happened because of Ace. Maybe not directly caused by him..but everything is connected through him and that just sucks! Seeing him beat himself down for being responsible for Star's rape (which eventually we realise towards the end..wasn't because of him) was terrible. No one deserves that. Not even Ace. Astraea as a character was damn frustrating..her sadness and depression was something that suffocated me because the writing pulled me into feeling her suffering!

The other guys..damn..I'll miss them all.

I hated the year long separation between Ace and Astraea. I mean it seemed stupid. They loved each other and I felt Astraea was running away just because she assumed unsaid things between her and Ace. That's the main annoying thing about these two. They never talk about the important stuff..stuff about them..like addressing their relationship, talking about the abortion, explaining the so called break up and Ace getting together with Astraea's bitchy ex bff etc.

Man..I can't stop wondering what would have happened if Astraea was never attacked or if she never left after her attack. I remember Ace promising her at the hospital that they would be together after high school started. So, I just imagine how Astraea would eventually tell Ace what happened to her and how he would protect her by being by her side always and how their love would bloom through all of that.

Finding out that George was alive was the best kind of news..I loved his reunion with his twin turbo!

Also, it just feels weird how Astraea's real dad never tracked down her mom..like he definitely had the resources for tracking her down and he never did..and it seemed stupid for her mom to just run away and not really explain to her lover that she was pregnant!

To be honest..making Astraea's mom a martyr was a dumb decision..I mean..making it seem that she was always protecting the twins seemed very eye-roll worthy especially since she treated Astraea like shit ever since she was a kid. Like, why didn't her mom take the time to explain everything to her or at least try becoming a good mother once George 'died'?!

I also found it quite dumb that George never told any of his friends that he got a girl pregnant. And how did he even find out what happened to Astraea??? It felt like the Nurse from the hospital was showing Astraea's assault report for the first time to someone else when Ace approached her towards the end of book 1..

The ending was nice..but also felt a little unsatisfactory. But oh well, this series was emotionally exhausting and I guess it's goodbye to Astraea and the Blue boys.

WOW! The 3rd book in the Westbrook Blues series and the last of Star and Ace story was just WOW! 😍😭❤
I can't ever describe how many secrets, plots and intrigues were reveal in this book.
It's like a never ending circle of secrets and lies.
This book is so damn gripping that you are constantly waiting for something terrible to happen. For some creepy "monsters" that are hiding in the shadows to come out and take them or their lives.
You really don't know what's going to happen on the next page 🤷🏻‍♀️.
Have you read a book without taking a breath, because you were afraid you will miss something? That's exactly how this whole book is written.
I swear I was really sweating and had stiff hands.
This YA romance series is about young people that had to grow up much faster that's good for them to survive in the world of a power obsessed town with parents that are more concerned about money that their own children.
This story is a rollercoaster of emotions, dramas and heartbreak. It's not only the story about Star and Ace, but also about the Blue Boys. Their unbelievable friendship and their love for one badass girl that brought them together.
I love drama 🤭 and
I loved every second of this book. I hope we'll get the next book in the series soon. I can't wait to read about the other characters and their fight for love and friendship.

Broken Hate, the highly anticipated 3rd novel in the Westbrook Blues series, was gripping and engrossing from beginning to end. I was hooked and could not put it down. With nail-biting twist and turns around every corner, you will not know what to expect and will be left guessing right until the end. You will be at the edge of your seat frantically turning pages to anxiously see whats coming next.
The characters were well-developed and complex and they evolve so much, you will be consumed by them throughout the story. We learn so much more about them in this novel, as we are given snippets of the past which helps us fully understand the dynamics of all these characters. Secrets were revealed and questions were answered in this highly emotional novel, be prepared to feel it all. This author took us on a heart-stopping journey that will at times render you shocked and speechless but in the end it will all make sense.
Broken Hate was worth the wait. Worthy of a 5 star status, this page-turner was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend this novel to all lovers of YA bully romance.

Story-wise... LOVED! It was the perfect ending for these characters- I love the tragically twisted tale of Ace and Star! Can’t wait for Noah’s and Emmett’s stories!
The grammatical mistakes were very distracting for me- I wish some of Thandiwe’s peeps would help her out!! Her storytelling deserves a smart editor!

This is book three of the “Westbrook Blue” series and may not be read as a stand alone. This is the conclusion to Ace and Star.

Let me say I love these two. They make you want to shake them both but I love them. Can I also say I love the characters in this series. They are amazing.

The end of this book made me cry heavy tears. My soul hurt. All along you think you know but you have no idea. The amount of secrets uncovered in this book was fascinating.

“I just need you to stay with me. I need you to keep fighting, to keep going.” I place kisses all over her face, and she groans with each one. Not with arousal but with pain. I can feel it deep within me. “Fight for us, baby. I’m fighting for you each day that I breathe,” I whisper. “You’re everything I have. Your heartbeats mean everything to me.”

Ace is wise beyond his years. He is the character who broke my heart the most. I love him with my entire heart. I will be honest each Blue Boy has a special spot in my heart.

“Everything I do, I do it for her. Everything I care to even take on, it’s because of her. Every fucking time I force myself to care, it’s been for her, and you have the audacity to tell me to think about her when she’s the center of my fucking existence?”

I think the reason I can’t give this book 5 stars is when I buy a book I assume it’s been edited. This book felt as a rough draft. Many many errors and that takes away from the story. Along with many repetitive thoughts and lines. Yet the plot and characters were a definite 5 star book!! A good edit and this book would be amazing!!

I absolutely love this authors dark, dark mind. This is a great read. Be aware it is full of triggers.

Holy hell. This book had a lot of details. Hell, this whole series so far had A LOT of details. In fact, I bet I could read this several times and pick up something new each time. This was a riveting and engrossing ending. This has NOT been a smooth sailing journey for the characters. So many twists and agonizing nail-biting suspense. Definitely, some twists that I did not see coming. I won't even lie, that when I saw the words, "The End" I just about lost my mind. I have never wanted to hurt an author as much as I did then. However, how she did go about ending it made it worth it.

I did have a few issues trying to keep track of who was who and how they related to each other in this crazy game. I almost needed to write a spreadsheet to keep it straight. My biggest issue, however, was the letters included in the book. The font was really hard to read. I had to guess in a couple of places and move things around in order to figure out the sentence. Also, I felt that the mystery of all that is George left more to be answered for. It was a pretty big bombshell and was just brushed over.

I am looking forward to Noah and Em's story and am hoping that the questions that need to be answered still will be focused on in those books. Although, there are so many details who know if I even remember them. Still a very good, albeit crazy, book.

Ok I am going to give this a completely honest review as I have very mixed feelings about this book. Let me start off by saying I devoured the first 2 books in this series, they were so refreshing and the story and the characters gripped me from the beginning so I was eagerly anticipating this final chapter starring Ace and Star. I am a little disappointed as I feel the story was rushed, it felt like the author tried to cram everything in and it just didn’t flow right to me plus the grammar was really bad in this book which made the reading extremely difficult at times. I also didn’t like the font in the letters I actually had to squint to try and read them. Was it a good book in a way yes but I feel a little disappointed in the direction it took. Was I glad of a HEA yes!! After what Star and Ace had both been through they both deserved that! I am looking forward to Emmett and Noah’s stories, more excited for Noah as he seems like he has such a huge heart and I have a really soft spot for both him and Kim. I really hope the author doesn’t rush it though and I get that she has had a lot of hate for the delay in this book but I would rather wait then get a rushed version out. Overall I would recommend this book as you need it to complete the series but I do think it could have been less choppy in places.

I was really let down by this book after waiting so long for it. It was a very long book, I love a long story but this one just felt a bit dragged out and unnecessary. There was a lot of lengthy ‘in the past chapters’. Some didn’t need to be so long and detailed for us to get the point.
There’s a lot of pussyfooting around. Lots of arguing and acusations thrown around but not a lot of truths come out.
There are still a lot that is unexplained. If the Blue Boys and Astrea communicated a bit better it would have made a better story. How can they be so close when they don’t really talk to each other?
There was no great reunion with George. And he’s a father?? There must be more to this part of the story.
What the heck is wrong with Amanda / Claire. Although we get her story explanation it in no way explains why she was such a bitch to Astrea.
The ending, although I am happy Ace & Star ended up together, I don’t like that at first she ran and cut him out. No one is honest that’s most of my issue in this story.
As with the previous books there are even more spelling, word, punctuation errors in this book. Are the edit team not checking? I feel this reflects badly on the author.
