Fae's Defiance

Rate this book
Brea Robinson is a princess. Ridiculous, right?

She’s left her small Ohio town behind for an exotic palace beyond her imagination, trading old jeans for ballgowns and a drunken father for two Fae mothers.

Safe behind the power of Eldur, it’s easy to forget everything that brought her here.

Like the two men who saved her that are now missing.

The abducted princess who should be roaming the palace halls instead of her.

The war coming for them all.

As Brea comes to terms with this new world and the web of secrets surrounding her, she realizes she stands on the brink of losing everything she never knew she wanted.

The mothers who would die for her.

The Fae who loves her.

And the people of her kingdom who trust her to save them.

Only, Brea can barely save herself. With uncontrollable magic warring within her, it’s only a matter of time before she lets everyone down.

When the worst happens and the person she loves most falls into the enemy's hands, she has a choice to make. And if she bows to the enemy queen’s demands, will she remain a princess or become a sacrifice instead?

Book two in the Queens of the Fae Series, click now to be transported into a world where magic can't always be controlled, kings fall, and betrayal is sometimes the biggest sacrifice of all.

Fae's Defiance gave me everything I wanted from this sequel and more!! I already loved the first book and this one made me love this series so much. The dual POV really helped. I loved Lochlan's thoughts and how he looks at things. I was really curious about him after the first book and now I love him. The authors really made sure to fill in more of the blanks we needed in this world and Brea's story.

Brea becomes a very strong character for me in this book. Yes, she has her tantrums, but being thrown into a whole new world and being told she was meant for things she doesn't want doesn't make it easy. Brea is still learning to adapt to this new world, magic and all of the secrets that were kept from her. It has to be exhausting trying to figure out who to trust. She fights though and I honestly think she's capable of more than she thinks she is and Brea starts proving that near the end of the book.

Fae's Defiance is the perfect balance of adventure, magic, mystery, romance and friendship. The authors had me laughing out loud multiple times and I've grown to care for these characters, including the amazing cast of side characters. I can't wait to find out how this story will continue in the next book, because I need them all to live happily ever after!

The hold that this book had on me this weekend is insane lol I couldnt stop reading!

Again, if you want a world-building fantasy brick, this is not what you’ll get. This is a fast-paced easy and fun YA book, with great nerdy human references (Dune, LOTR, Harry Potter, etc)

Goodjob on making me love Lochlan so much! His character and his POVs were what kept me hooked.🔥 his background and character development is the most believable.

The political intrigue still seems too easy, and I still don’t get why the villains are soooo soo bad.

The magic system is still not explained. WHY IS THE MAGIC COLORED?! 🌈😂

Brea started a magic training that lasted what it felt like 3 days, as if the author forgot about it mid story?

The second book was definitely my favourite in the series; I absolutely loved reading Lochlan and Brea in this one, and all of the characters in general. I feel like Queens of the Fae is definitely one of those series that has such a fantastic range of characters and that's what really pulls the series together. I don't think I would have enjoyed this series as much, especially as someone who is starting to read a lot less YA, if I didn't feel such connections to the characters.

Adding Lochlan's perspective at points was a great decision, as was the connection between Alona and Brea. Lochlan observing and protecting Brea for years had my whole heart - it's one of my favourite tropes when it's done properly, and I just really enjoyed watching their connection develop in Fae's Defiance.

Once again, the plot was a predictable one, but Brea, Lochlan, Finn, Alona and Myles have just completely become comfort characters, so that kind of takes away from the 'okay, I can see everything that's going to happen crystal clear' because I was just enjoying reading everyone interacting and the character's development.

This series is so freaking good. This book is the second book in the series and it's better than the first one in my opinion. We get to see Brea come to terms with her life in the fae world. Even though she knows that's she's a princess for not one but two of the realms she doesn't want it. She's tired of being used as a pawn. She really starts to grow up in this book.

We actually get to see her start some training to help her control her powers but that doesn't last long before war hits. The relationship between Brea and Lochlan is the reason I devour this book so quickly after getting it. Their banter with each other is just too good.

I really feel for Brea as she's still not feeling like she belongs in the palace. She doesn't feel like part of a family whatsoever. Especially with her mother's constant worrying over her other daughter who was captured and taken away in the previous book. I'm so glad she has a friend who is willing to help her and be her family.

I really liked the plot of this one it was a lot more action than book one. I'm assuming book three will have way more. I did, however, find one thing to be predictable. It's was something that happens in a lot of fantasy books so that made me feel a little meh. But overall the book was a fast and easy book to read.

This Was Even Better Than Book #1!!!😍🔥💘💔😭🙏💥
(A complimentary ARC given without any pressure or expectations placed upon me!)
Fae's Defiance: Queens Of The Fae #2

A superbly engaging, gripping & emotive read!😍

Brea feels more out of her depth with her true family & people, now she's escaped her crazy Aunt, than she actually did in Regan's Palace, before she uncovered all of their lies!!😔 Loch & Finn have been gone for weeks trying to rescue Princess Alona. Brea feels like everyone would rather it was her gone so they could have Alona back!💔 To escape & feel more 'human' she often sneaks into the lower town. She's making friends, even if they call her a Richie because of her fancy Palace clothes!!🙏

One day the Queen comes to take breakfast with her. It's the least awkward talk they've had & for the first time makes her feel wanted!😍 She suggests Brea might enjoy learning about the Palace Stables etc She jumps at the chance to feel semi normal!👍 Loch & Finn eventually turn up, Loch is badly injured.😲😢 After they're both recovered its announced a Ball will be held, Brea will turning 18 years and her magic will need to be trained. The Queen says she has an important announcement to make too! Brea is hurt & furious by what occurs & feels used and betrayed yet again!!💔😭

A message arrives with grave news for Loch. From that point onwards things go more down hill for them all!!😱
Oh dear me, this book held a complete gamut of emotions. Burgeoning love, friendships, betrayals, evilness & blackmail!😡💥 But they have to hold on to hope or what's the point of it all??🙏💕
I'm panting in anticipation for book #3 🌟

What a fantastic book 2!!!

This was just as strong -no stronger- than the first book in the series and it promises great things for book 3!

Brea has made it to her actual home and is safe for the first time in many years. But she still feels like a stranger no matter how hard everyone tries. Her relationship with her mothers are awkward to start but slowly start to grow to somewhat normalcy. Lochlan is frustrating her as usual but he is there, supporting her every step of the way-in his own way.

The book shows that Brea actually grows up and she becomes more than a whiny teenager. She takes steps that shows, if she chooses, that she will be a fantastic leader. Loveland also develops in this book and he takes charge and you can’t help but admire (and swoon for) him.

The details are amazing and the world building can not be faulted. You get full immersion into this fantastical world of Fae. The twists will have you holding your breath and wanting more! I can not recommend this book enough!! I need book three now!

Brea Robinson is trying to adapt to a life as princess in the fae realm. She's gone from jeans to ball gowns, and from a drunken father to two fae mothers - no small change. To accept that she's a fae with magic abilities, after living her whole life as a human, is both a blessing and a curse. When the evil queen, her aunt, gives Brea an ultimatum, she knows what she needs to do.

I continue to read the books in this series that I haven't read before, and it's fun to experience what things shaped Brea to become the person she is in the later books. I love her and Lochlan's disputes, and I can really understand his frustration with her. Brea's human phrases gets extra humorous since they feel so out of place in the fae world. I usually don't jump into the next book in a series right away, but this time I do - I want to stay in this fae realm a bit longer!

Bam! Surprises left and right in this one from the very begin. And I dislike Reagan more and more I will not call her queen. In my head I cant help but see the queen of hearts screaming "off with their head". Anyways. Brea grows so much in this one not just in physical strength but physical. Oh and we learn so very interesting things about Loch 😉 Maybe the is more the Mr.Broody face. As the story goes on the stakes get higher than ever imagined. Its seems everyone might have to give up something in the fight to win.

Ever read at book that left you thinking: OMG?!?

Know the feeling of distress knowing the book has ended, and you're left at a cliffhanger? The Oh-no-no-no feeling.

Book 1 was awesome. This one is AMAZEBALLS.

God!! Brea evolved from the depressive whiny teen from Book one, into a full fledged strong royal. I absolutely adore her.

Can't wait for book three!!! ❤️

OMG I LOVE THIS SOOO INCREDEBLY MUCH!!! ALL MY PRAISE, LOVE AND ADMIRATION!!! SENSATIONAL!!
The emotions, feels, romance, betrayels and charcters, EVERYTHING!! I LOVE LOCHLAN!!! HE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER!!!
The story continues with Alona and Neeve in the dungeon in Gelsi. They plan their escape and a new prisoner is locked up non other than MYLES!!!! OMG HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!!!
Bea is in Eldur. She tries to adjust in her new life with her two mothers. Emotional scene. Queen Tierney is a sweetheart where Queen Faolan is more stubborn like Brea herself. Brea discovers why Lochlan and Griff's parents were killed: Because they were trying to keep Brea safe by sending her to the human world!!!
Brea also gets to be an apprentice for horse caring by master Artuo. She helps with labor.
One day Brea finds Finn and Lochlon in the orchard. LOCHLAN IS STABBED BY A SWORD TO PROTECT FINN!!! Emotionl scenes, Brea stays with him and helps where she can the whole time and wishes for his recovery. The feels!!
Finn reports to the queen and his father Donovan that Alora is in Gelsi. When Lochlan finally awakes he tells her in an emotional scene that myles is locked up too!
We get Lochlan's PO: his thoughts are always about Brea. HE FELL IN LOVE WHEN HE WAS WATCHING OVER HER IN THE HUMAN WORLD!!! HE WAS HER GUARDIAN ANGEL!!! THE FEELS!!! he is the true heir of Iskart and blames himself for his uncle took the throne when he was 4 years old. He is raised by Tierney and Faolan. He wants to help Brea and supports her, but they bicker the whole time for she is soo stubborn. Funny scenes. When he shows his true self my heart soares!!
-important event is Brea's (and Alora's) birthday. There is a big party for her but he still feels she is being replaced. Queen Faolan announced her as the imprisoned princess of Gesli who escaped. She is to be the heir and queen of Gesli!!! SHE IS USED AGAIN!!!! The queens all play a game with her!! A pawn, a prisoner!!!
She escapes the party and the horse is in labor. 2 ponies are born!!! And lochlan is with her!!! ADORABLE!!!
Rowena her maid tells her Lochlan was promised to Alora until his visits to the human world (in truth, HE FELL IN LOVE WITH BREA)
now Alora is like a sister to him like Myles a brither to Brea. They would do everything for each other.
Lochlan continues to teach Brea with her magic: controlling emotions, to test fear, HE KISSED HER!!!!
-feelinf are growing!!!! They go into the villige together and Brea is coming to love her people. Cute scene: Eldur brew. They even kiss for real: the mud scene!!! Their love blossoms!!!
-one day a traveler comes to court and tells his village is destroyed and the people are all dead: apparently Lochlam's uncle is trying to create a magical barrier like that of Gelsi, but his magic is to weak and results in KILLING HIS CITIZENS!!!
-Lochlan and Brea go to a village (even without help of queen Faolan) DEVASTATING SCENE!!!
they are determined to free Iskalt. Lochlan is determined to take back his throne and Brea supports and trusts him They are recruiting volunteers. Brea helps by giving a powerfully inspirational speech. 'Lochlan will follow her to the end of the world and back'!!!!
BUT one day a messenger from Gesli arrives. Lpchlan feels responsible to share the letter: Regan will trade Myles' freedom for Brea!!!!
She is determined to oblige for she wants to save her best friend!!! THE EMOTIONS
Lochlan and Brea have a romantic, emotional scene which is both beautiful and sad. Their last night before going into 2 different battles!!!
She makes her last wish to keep him safe!!
Finn helps her through the jouney for he loves Alora and wants her freed. However he can't follow her through the barrier. Lochlan feels part betrayed but still understands their decision with makes me love him even more!!! his mothers support him and he is going into battle for his people to clame his rightful throne as Ice king of Iskalt to free his people!!!
Brea arrives in Gesli and trades her freedom for Myles and Neeve. Alora can't be freed....
She has to marry Griff!!! And give her the heir of the 3 fae courts. Griff tells her he doesn't want this for her but they don't have a choice. Brea longs for Lochlan and wishes it was him she was going to marry!!!!
Alora is her maid but they can't let them know brea knows
Apparently Alora and Brea met when they were 16 years old in the human world. Now they are 2 princess prisoner in a foreign kingdom both in love with an other man!!!!
I CAN'T CONTAIN MY FEELINGS!!!

I received an eARC of this book via the authors. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

What an amazing read! Fae’s Defiance by M. Lynn & Melissa A. Craven is the second book in their series Queens of the Fae and picks up right where the first left off. Y’all this book does not suffer second-book syndrome. It is not a bridge to the end. It doesn’t lag in its pacing. Nope, Fae’s Defiance is a sprint to the cliffhanger I happily dove off of. And thank the good Fae that this is a rapid release, and we do NOT have to wait long for book three. Please note that if you have not read book one of this series, there may be minor spoilers to that book in this review. Read at your own risk!

“Brea Robinson is a princess.” Brea is adjusting to her new life in the Fae world, her world. This isn’t an easy task for her. It isn’t something she is excited about, especially after the betrayals from the first book. She doesn’t trust easily, and she makes the new Fae in her life work for it. Despite her internal monologue that she is ready to fall apart, Brea is strong on the outside and displays a fearless outlook on her new situation. She faces each new challenge head on, and I love her for it. She isn’t some damsel in distress, waiting on someone to save her. She’s her own hero and making her own path in this new world.

Despite that outlook, Brea is insecure. Her time in Fargelsi, the eternal Spring realm, left her shaken. She doesn’t trust those that have saved her and brought her to Eldur, the desert realm, and she doesn’t trust herself. Letting her own guard down is hard for her. Brea doesn’t trust her judgment after she placed her trust in the wrong Fae. Between this and her horrid upbringing, Brea is having a hard time believing that her true mother loves her and wants what is best for her. It also plays a pivotal role in her relationship with the two Fae that brought her to Eldur, Finn and Lochlan.

Can I just say how much I love these two Fae? Finn is light-hearted and reminds Brea of her best friend Myles. He doesn’t treat her like a princess, but another person. He sees her and understands her in a way that allows her to let her guard down easily. Lochlan, on the other hand, is unfortunately the brother of Griffin O’Shea, who broke Brea’s trust in the first book. This, along with his role in her kidnapping from the human realm, does not win him any favor with Brea. He’s broody and pushes her buttons every chance he gets. Despite that, he’s never once put her in danger. Lochlan puts Brea’s safety above his own. To say he wormed his way into my heart is an understatement. I love this broody Fae, and I absolutely LOVE that we get a few chapters in his POV this book.

As I mentioned earlier in this review, this story moves at a lightning pace. The plot is just as intricate, if not more so, than book one. We get more world-building as Brea becomes accustomed to her new life in Eldur. Y’all the imagery here had me sweating. It feels so real. I could feel the desert sun on my neck. I love that the authors transported me to Brea’s world!

Now let’s talk foreshadowing for a quick sec. I read A LOT. That’s not an understatement, I easily read 100 new books a year. Few authors pull off good foreshadowing. Most of the time you’ll see reviewers mention how predictable a book was and that they didn’t enjoy it as a result. Y’all, that’s bad foreshadowing. What we have here in Fae’s Defiance is the exact opposite. This is an example of fantastic foreshadowing. This is the kind where you are reading and you pick up little hints along the way, but those surprises still smack you in the face when you get to them. It’s not there for shock and awe, but there because it was clearly planned to be. I love this!

Overall, if you haven’t already guessed, I love Fae’s Defiance! Brea is one of those characters that you just love and root for from page one. I love her character development so far in the series and can’t wait to see where the authors take her next. I highly recommend this series for anyone that enjoys YA fantasy.

This series is getting me out of my book slump and I am here for it. I appreciate that this book is still as quickly paced as the first book but it expands on the world. I am in love with Loch and Brea's relationship. I love that Loch actually respects Brea, especially when he showed her the letter from Regan stating that she would trade Myles's freedom if Brea came back to Fargelsi. I think that the side characters are so well written, Rowena became a loved character like Neeve. The relationship-building between Brea and her mothers is still not as strong as I would like it to be but I appreciate the scenes that they begin to explore a mother-daughter relationship. Master Arturo is a wonderful character as well and mentor to Brea. I appreciate that Brea's integration to Eldur was of her own accord, forming bonds with the people before they found out who she was. Although Brea has her outbursts I feel like they are put in the right places, especially when her mother announces that Brea is an escapee from Fargelsi which made her feel like a pawn.

The twist of Alona being Brea's servant at the end was a twist. I am upset that Griff feels like he can have this relationship and that they can pick up where they left off. I will say that what is great is seeing how both Loch and Griff could be so similar and yet the way that they are brought up is part of the reason that things are going to crap. Brea leaving Loch made me extremely sad but they both had their own journey's to trek. Loch becomes the rightful king of Iskalt and Brea returns to Fargelsi, freeing Myles and Neeve.

How much more should Brea endure for a world she is unsure she will ever truly belong in? If she does except it as her home will it be to late?
I inhaled Fae’s Defiance because as soon as I saw the first page, I wasn’t in my home anymore, I was away back in Eldur following Brea as she transferred through her new life and home. This second book continues to be hard for Brea. Regardless we see the effect she has on the people around her from commoners to Queens, Princes and Friends. She is a remarkable, Sassy, Lonely and caring person. I love her say it as you see it attitude, her mortal world sayings are injected incredibly into the storyline, her strength, her support and her Love. She realises people maybe do like her maybe even have loved and protected her her entire life . I don’t want to give away any spoilers that’s why I’m being quite vague. But you will be entranced, worried, go into battle to fight all in the name of Eldur and the people she realises she loves. It’s so easy to fall in love but hard to find someone to catch you. But there is a betrayal that breaks more than one person, and could mean the end of Brea Robinson ever stepping a foot back into a place she realises she wants to call home. This is such an exciting, fresh, imaginative series. Excellently written, with the amazing abilities of world building and characters depth and emotions becoming amongst your own.
Don’t miss it, give it a try. I can’t say any fantasy reader could possibly resist the pull of everything about this series.

Fae's Defiance is the second book in the Queens of the Fae series by M Lynn and Melissa A Craven and it's even better than it's prequel! It picks up exactly where Fae's Deception ends. Brea is finally in Eldur with her real parents, but even there she doesn't feel home. She feels like everyone only cares about the kidnapped princess Alona. But with Lochlan's help she slowly accepts her place in the Fae world and kind of settles in. Brea has such a great character development and I can relate with her so much. It's great to watch how she get's stronger day by day. I like how the authors constantly change between Brea's and Lochlan's pov, so we get to know the thoughts and feelings of both of them. It made me feel connected to them and I just fell in love with these two more and more.
All in all Fae's Defiance is a great fantasy book, with the right amount of romance, drama and magical moments. It's suspenseful through and through, I couldn't put it down! If you liked Fae's Deception you definitely have to continue the series, it's worth it!

After reading Fae’s Deception I couldn’t wait for this next book! I literally read it in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. It was jam-packed with action, romance and more betrayal.

I was so glad to see a map of this world, and it definitely helped me to better understand and imagine their travels. Brea starts off feeling unwanted but as the story unfolds her new friendships give her confidence, allowing her personality to shine through.

Brea is such an easy character to love and I felt so strongly for her in this book - the relationships she builds, the power she struggles with and her heartbreaking decision. I was over the moon with the romantic element of the story, which was really beautifully developed, and my heart was pounding from that ending. I am desperately hoping that the final book doesn’t break my heart completely!

This is a beautifully written and emotive book, full of love, heartbreak and magic.

I was given an e-ARC of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

A rare gem that lives up to the standard set by its predecessor. So often you read a wonderful book, only to be disappointed in the sequel. I can reassure you Fae's Defiance is not that type of book. If I am completely honest, I actually enjoyed reading the sequel more than the first. The story is addictive and compels you to continue. With everything going on in the world, I've been finding it so difficult to read, however I've devoured this book within a day.

We continue to follow Brea as she now is in Eldur, and a very interesting twist was also seeing things from Lochlan's perspective. I was so happy to realize I was right with my theory, however I won't spoil what that was. I love Brea's character, she's quite unique as a heroine. All the characters have depth to them, and although the war and power plays revolve around magic Fae kingdoms, it's easy to see the parallels to possible real life situations.

This is an enchanting tale of the Fae and their lies and deception. It is addicting and enthralling, and I highly recommend you give it a read!

My review (tags: twisted politics and schemes, page-turner, tragic, Great world Building)
4****
Book 2 of 3 (so far and if you don't count the reader-list prequel)
Two Fae Monarchs on stolen thrones twist their realms and everyone in them in their quest for dominance over all realms. Is it out of a “Queen of Hearts” kind of crazy or their guilt and fear someone will find out their secrets and use them against them?
Bred for success or possibly mass destruction, she’s not in Ohio anymore! Brea hopes to stay out of the line of fire between their Highnesses (all three of them). After all, she didn’t go looking to become a Faery Princess but trouble is only a matter of time. Still in the middle, Brea will need to learn all she can to harness her powers without getting herself or anyone else killed. Will she ever feel like she belongs in this crazy, two-faced world? What other traps lie ahead and can they be avoided? How can we wait until book three? Cliff hangers ahead.

Wow. The next book will be out in one week. I can hardly wait. This series is so good and I really want too know how the story ends. I know what I want to happen, but I have no idea if it will. It would be justice if Brea's real father escaped from prison and killed Regan, then takes his place as rightful King. Then again, maybe she should be sent to the Prison Colony. That is one queen who needs to go - so evil. As for who pairs up - I would love to see Brea and Loch, and Finn and Alona end up as couples. I hope Griff sees the proverbial light and comes to his senses, but I'm not sure that will happen. I expect sadness because Brea loves Loch and maybe his demise because he wants to be king so bad. As for Myles, I don't know if he should go back to earth or stay with Nieve. Even though she's been in the dungeon for a while I imagine she's heartbroken over the death of her love. Guess I'll find out next week.

Sacrificing self for the good of all
I never want to be a princess as there’s too much danger involved. Faking a kidnapping, switched at birth, raised with no knowledge of my heritage, treated like a pawn in a game of thrones. Fostering royal children from youth creates conflicted loyalties and breaks ties with their native land. There is so much to learn in order to rule and some of it is by living that life.

The fae read Humantales like we humans read fairy tales. Brea is given a library book ‘depicting Henry VIII as a benevolent king’ (it was a love story). Well, he did write the song, Greensleeves…

Eldur berry brew (similar to coffee) is ‘the secret answer to all the world’s problems’ and it’s just as evil there as it is here.

Is Brea able to stand on her own two feet against twisted rulers who are masters at their games? We’ll have to read ‘Destruction’ to find out.

Even if you think you have outgrown fairy stories, this series will change your mind. Because these author’s books are really about human nature, all their characters ring true and find a place in your heart.

Brea should feel safe now that she has escaped her evil aunt and the manipulations of the man she thought she was falling in love with. Even though the woman she has learned is her mother seems sincere, Brea still feels out of place.

She loves the city and its people but she can’t see herself as a royal. Then there is the missing Alona. It is hard not to think that everyone would be happier if Alona was the one in her place.

Can Brea finally have found a home, a place to belong? Or is there more to the queen’s agenda than reuniting with her daughter?

I was very excited for book 2 of The Queens of the Fae series and it did not disappoint. I love the world the authors have created and the character development makes me eager for the rest of the story. I often get annoyed by YA heroines but Brea is becoming someone I really want to cheer for. She deserves to realize her strength and find her happily ever after. I'm enjoying her growth. Is she perfect? Not at all, but she's perfectly imperfect. The O'Shae brothers are amazing. I love every thing about them, both the good and bad. This book had me on quite an emotional ride. I love the ups and downs and especially those moments when I had to remind myself to breathe. I am enjoying this series so much and I highly reccomend it.

I absolutely loved Lochlan and Brea's banter and how much she grows in character, confidence, and in her role. I like how authentic of a character she is how unapologetically herself she continues to be. I also liked that we get more insight into Lochlan and his thoughts. It actually made me like his character more. However, those last few chapters...I was so horribly frustrated with Brea and her choices. I mean, I got why she made them. But I'm so frustrated that that's how it ended. I'm painfully optimistic that the last book will not end the way it's looking like it's heading. Overall, still a good series.

Excellent sequel. Sometimes second books drag and lack the excitement of the first book. And while this book was more serious than the first, the pacing was spot on. I enjoyed seeing even more growth from Brea. She's really coming into her own and is learning the ways of the Fae. She still has plenty of self esteem and self worth issues but that is expected with her past. I feel this book gave Lochlan a ton of needed "page time". He's a great character and seeing things from his perspective was helpful. This book was the halfway point through a chess game, everyone is lining up for the win but it's too soon to call. Can't wait to read the conclusion and see how it all plays out.

This series is PHENOMENAL. I don't know what I expected going into it, but book 1 consumed my entire life and book 2 did the same. The quality is consistent and the characters are developing with such care that I feel like I'm growing with them. Brea is a lovable protagonist, who's not as dumb as she could be considering the "I'm a secret fae princess" plot of this series. I like the natural progression of her relationships with the other characters, especially Loch, and the world that's been built here. It's light on the actual political intrigue, but it's believable enough in the universe and a good setting for Brea's story.
