Jinx: We are of gods and men. We're magic, but we aren't magicians. We're ancient deities, all the things anyone has ever believed in, new and old. We're real and we're here, walking among you. Some of us are more special than others. Some of us hold the key to immense power and the ability to bestow it on others. Risers are hailed and hunted, wanted for the blessings they can bestow, and not always for good. From the moment I see my riser, the only woman who can help me attain maximum power in my human form, I know I want her, or at least I want what she can give me.
This is the first installment of the Third Street Conjure Boys series.
Nikki Clarke is a poet and writer who’s always loved a good love story in books and on film. Her favorite on screen love declarations in no particular order are: Darius and Nina under the viaduct, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth in the field (Knightley and MacFadden version), and Dwayne and Whitley at the wedding. Nikki doesn’t mind a little weird (or raunch) mixed in with her romance and hopes to contribute to more happily ever afters of all shades and styles.
I love the way the characters flow with one another. Mrs. Clarke you did an excellent job! I look forward to the the next book! I will not spoil the story but between love and magical people you will fall in love with this book!
I really enjoyed this read. It had an interesting storyline and the concept was slightly different from other paranormal stories that I’ve read with Gods and Deities.
Black fantasy about reincarnated gods walking amongst us, with the sexy romantic component of them finding, and screwing the woman that will make them even more powerful. I’m all about it. The only thing I don’t like is they are street magician performers. I think that is cheesy, partly because it is and also because I don’t like when I see my black men on the corners doing those performances in real life. At least these are not begging for change. Jinx is an immature boy who elevates himself luckily. Glitter (what the heck is up with all these girls names) is a virgin who turns hoe girl real quick. That was so disappointing, but I get it girl. I think Jinx deserves an ass whooping for that one. He’s also a stalker. Overall, a great book, short read with a lot of substance besides romance and sex. Definitely recommend.
This was a sweet, fun, almost fairytale like story. I think it’s interesting that the author note at the end said it was darker than her norm but then again I read some incredibly dark stuff so maybe my gauge is broken. Anyway I’m really exciting to read the next book, I wish it was Abra’s cause there is nothing like a fighting fate trope. I love Nikki’s conversation/dialogue style of writing. And this concept is so fun, gods among us and reincarnation it leads to some cheeky humor that I really enjoyed.
Nikki Clarke has a forever fan in me! This book gave it all and then some. Every single character and every single page pulls you deeper and deeper into the story. I enjoyed the spiritual lessons in this piece. And the message of how love is magical (swoon). Also, let me just say, the heat between Jinx and Glitter left ME feeling renewed 🤣🤣. This is going to be a fun ride and I cannot wait until I learn all I can about every one of these characters!
DNF 36%. Him being Peruvian/Indigenous is just treated really weirdly in a way that made me uncomfortable. And I hated the virgin thing and found it hard to enjoy their chemistry because of it.
It took me a few tries to get into this book but I love the way Nikki writes so the effort was worth it in the end. Mama can write a good sex scene! I mean, who doesn't want to end thier first date with a sweet kiss at the door but end up getting ravaged later on that night cause thier lover climbed through the bedroom window cause they couldn't wait another minute to be in that pussy??
I LOVED the lore of the gods. You don't have to look them up because Nikki will explain who they are but getting visuals gives them more depth. It's refreshing to learn of other deities beside Greek or Roman ones. Especially our ancestral deities!! Olodumare?? Mawu?? I can't wait to read more.
I do have two gripes about Nikki's format.. Why folks gotta be virgins and why everyone gotta get pregnant? This is my second series after Black Valley Wolves (highly recommended) and once again the main charcter is a Virgin who gets knocked up right away.

You left me hanging lol. It was just starting to get really good. I personally think all your books are super cheesy lol in such a good romantic way but since they are like that they do tend to miss the emotions the reader would need to feel and understand when the scene changes drastically. Like that confused me a lot, one moment glitter can be with jinx and the next she’s at her clinic. The transition weren’t smooth but hell what do I know , I’m not published lol. I’m a hopeless romantic what can I say bring on the loves. Yes but it’s been a minute , we going to need you to bless us with Blossom and Lure story.
So this is the first book that I've read about this author and I must say I was intrigued from the beginning of the story I absolutely love the way the characters for a bill building up on each and every character is not one I cannot wait to see what happened to the other two brothers along with the demigod keep riding I can't wait to know what happened with Abraham Aka Abra it most certainly certainly mr. Lure
Jinx could "Ehuacan" me any day! I enjoyed every bit of this story, it was just what I needed. Gods, Goddesses, magic, shirtless entertainment...It was just wonderful. I loved Jinx and Glitter. The "chemistry" between them, right from the start was just down right sexy. When they finally got together, the sparks were really flying. Really. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series, cause Lure was Daddy #2.
I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew the cover was amazing and prayed the story that followed would be too. It was. Jinx is great..he was an asshole at the beginning then he turned into my favorite kind of books bae. All up in your stuff, all protective and loving. I loved that Glitter didn't have attitude. She was soft and sweet just as a Mother should. Definitely worth the read.
The characters in this book are great. Glitter is an honest and good person. Jinx is great too. He's annoying at first but eventually gets that love is an amazing and wonderful experience. I love when a story has you reading frantically to get to the end, only to be disappointed -NOT because it bad- but because it is over. I love your books Nikki. Please keep them coming!
TSCB is the first book that I’ve read by Ms. Clarke. I can honestly say that she has a new fan in me. I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. Ms. Clarke’s creativity held me spellbound. Her characters are bigger than life and so relatable. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I liked this book! This is my ninth read for this author. I liked the idea of gods and goddesses walking amongst us. I liked the connection between Jinx and Glitter. I immediately got the other books so I could continue reading. I can't wait to see what's up with Abra and Blossom. There were some errors in the Kindle version that I read.
Nikki Clarke sure does know how to keep her readers entertained. Each book is it's own unique adventure. With amazing characters that bring heart and soul to the story. I'm looking forward to reading more.
Good world building, great explanation of how the gods work in human form. Awesome love scenes, a quirky cute meet for Jinx and Glitter, and enviable support from friends who fight for and like family. Loved it.
This was a fun read! Gods and goddesses living amongst the mortal realm?! YES PLEASE!!! I’ve been sitting on this first book for a while now and now that I’ve finished it, I can’t wait to get into the rest of this series! The Conjure Brothers though?! 😮💨DELICIOUS!!!
I truly enjoyed reading this story . Jinx and glitter were so great together . I was so glad glitter or the baby was hurt during that kidnapping . Off to the next book with Lure
This was definitely different than any other books I have read. I’m glad it’s another book coming out because I definitely had more questions and needed some answers.
This book was so good. I loved the characters the plot and the whole story building up to make it what it was... I'm excited for what this author will do in the future
This was an interesting book... human Gods! I loved it. Those two were hot and steamy. Moving on to the next series! Ready for Abb and Blossom or Lure/ Sparkle
I gave this a 3.5 out of 5. What initially hooked me was the concept of dormant powers; the idea that otherworldly abilities are lying just beneath the surface, waiting for the right pairing. I especially appreciated that the women are portrayed as the most powerful. I’m still very intrigued by how the demigods fit into the bigger picture. There has to be a larger plan unfolding, and while we’re given glimpses, there’s still enough mystery to keep me invested.
One of the most satisfying moments was when the MMC finally stopped pretending that all he wanted was power from the FMC. It was clear early on that it was a bit more than that.
When it was finally revealed who was behind the chaos in the end, I was honestly a bit surprised. It was one of those reveals where the clues were there, but you’re still a bit surprised when you find out. If they had simply asked for help, so much of the chaos, secrecy, and elaborate plotting could have been avoided.
I was definitely intrigued enough to want to continue with the series and see how the other couplings play out.
I was excited to start this story, but I was going through a bit of a slump, and this provided the perfect change I needed. I enjoyed the creativity of Gods and Goddesses. I was a little lost in the beginning, but as the story progressed, a lot of the backstory started to make sense. My only issue was that some of the dialog and inner struggles became repetitive. I would have like Jinx to explain his problems in a different way, instead of restating how upset he was with himself the exact same way 5 times, but overall, a very interesting read.
