For Emily Winston, leaving her old life as her aunt's ward to become a male order bride in Montana constitutes a much-needed fresh start. But among the baggage she's hauling on her way to meet her new husband is a dark secret. The aunt who raised Emily also ran a brothel, and the young woman's sexual knowledge and exploration at her own hands has left her something other than a typical virgin. Wyatt Blake is a successful rancher in need of a wife, but his desire for someone other than the prim, obedient women of his territory has led him to select a made-to-order bride. Emily is everything he could ask for in bed, but when her secrets start to unravel, the handsome dominant employs the use of hard spankings to extract the truth of Emily's past. Will her guilt and shame mar a budding relationship further complicated by Emily's willfulness and lack of domestic skills? Or will Wyatt Blake's firm hand and sexual domination force Emily to accept her place at the side of a man who knows exactly what he wants? Author Vanessa Vale is the undisputed Queen of the Erotic Western, and her second book in the Men of Montana series is a barn-burning love story sure to have you fanning yourself in delight.

I really (really!) liked the other series (Montana Maidens) and though I knew this one would be "tamer" I thought I'd give it a try. This was a nice blend of romance and D/s with an alpha male. It's more alpha and a little less domination in the true BDSM sense - more like DD actually. Emily's background was interesting and provided some good explanation of what was occurring -- and ideas as to why she liked her new life. Though I don't like this series nearly as much as the other one I definitely think, for relatively shorter novels, these hit the spot!
I loved this story! I have been a fan of Vanessa Vale for years and can't believe that I haven't read this story yet. I loved the interactions between Emily and Wyatt.
Emily had an unusual upbringing. She has the chance for a new start with her new husband. She grew up in her aunt's brothel and her aunt wanted more for her. She is sent west as a mail order bride. She has a little secret for her husband. Wyatt has been waiting for years for his bride. He is pleased with her even if she believes something different. When someone comes to threaten their marriage, will he be able to convince her that they are the real thing?
I read all three books. The men are very demanding, even though they want to be, "dominant " they are very stupid., l find the women very gullible, the don't stand up for rights of women. The men just take what they want. They did not ask the women what they want. Yup, just like a man, they figure women are stupid.. My take, tell the man to get lost and find himself another patsy... as long as the man is satisfied, they don't seem to care about their women. Women in this book should have been fighting back.
Wyatt has a few difficulties figuring out his wife and then the plot twists. He has to decide what is truth and what is lies. I really enjoyed this story. Lots of smexy scenes and very hot smut. Doed have s lot of spanking so beware!!!
Ridiculous. Couldn’t even finish it and I always finish books once I start them. I will say that I tried it as an audio book and the man they had narrating it was terrible. There was no actual storyline to speak of and no reason to like the main characters at all.
This one had a different plot but was essentially the same. Rich rancher likes discipline and a fiery woman in his bed. There is drama but in the end all is well. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Now to move on to book 3. Enjoy.
This was a good short read. Sometimes I felt that certain phrases were used too often, and at times I got a little bit sick of so much erotica and not enough story. But a good short read all in all.
Women in the old west were either ladies or whores. So what do you do with a lady that believes she is a whore? Convince her otherwise of course. Cowboy has his hands full with his mail order bride.
MARRYING THE VIRGIN WHORE Emily Winston needed a new life and became a mail order bride through Madame Mrs. Bidwell, along with two other mail order brides, Ellen and Caroline, all traveling together to the Montana Territory. Wyatt Blake is a successful rancher and along with friend, Ryder Graves, had entrusted Mrs. Birdwell to help them locate the perfect wives for their baser proclivities. Emily being raised by an aunt in a brothel, is well acquainting with sexual terminology and general understanding, but she is still a virgin. What Emily never has learned how to do was cook, clean and run a household, but she can make up for it in the bedroom and that pleases Wyatt. Wait, who is this other woman claiming to be Wyatt's wife by proxy, and calling herself Emily Winston? Now will the real Emily Winston please come forward, and who is the imposter. This story has a nice mystery and suspense element, witty dialogue and hot sex with a lusty wanton woman. Maybe being raised in a whorehouse has it advantages after all.
The Cowboy by Vanessa Vale has heat, intrigue, and high stakes emotion all wrapped up in this incredible novel. Emily has come to the Montana Territory as a mail order bride with the hopes of finding a safe place in the world. Wyatt Blake is a hardworking rancher who has married Emily sight unseen, but he knew what he asked for when inquiring about a bride, and upon meeting her he was not disappointed. The sparks begin to fly between man and wife immediately and Wyatt quickly learns that his wife only has one skill which pleases him immensely. As the two get acquainted another bride appears claiming to be Wyatt’s true wife, and her story makes Emily doubt herself as being able to make Wyatt happy. Emily must learn that she is a just fine the way she is, and what she has to offer is just what Wyatt needs.
I was given a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review and here it is.
Much like its predecessor, The Lawman, The Cowboy is an erotic, BDSM, mail-order bride novella and in book 2 of her Montana Men series, the author doesn't waste time with a lot of preliminaries. Her heroine, Emily, arrives by stagecoach in town, is greeted by Wyatt, the handsome dominating husband she's never met, and is quickly whisked off to his ranch and his bed. She's got more than one secret, and self-esteem issues, as Wyatt will soon learn.
What follows is a steamy, entertaining, but again, too short read. I'd have loved to know Wyatt's backstory, but if you enjoy erotica, you're going to enjoy this one.
This was a fun short erotic Mail Order Bride romance. Wyatt is looking for a attractive and adventurous bride and Emily needs a new life far from the brothel she was raised in. The attraction is quick and hot something that Emily is afraid is because of her time spent at her aunts brothel and she is ashamed of her feelings and actions. Wyatt is thankful that the matchmaker had picked just the right woman for him. Emily has much to learn in and out of the bedroom. This was a good addition to the Montana Men series. Wyatt has ordered a bride from Mrs. Bidwell, a Madame in a brothel. He does not expect to receive a bride who is a virgin, but not that innocent about what goes on between men and women. Emily knows a lot, but because she was raised in a brothel, she never learned to keep house or cook meals. But, Emily pleases Wyatt and that is all that matters. There is a happy ending and I give this 4 stars.
Emily has finally arrived at her destination and met her husband for the first time. Wyatt Blake takes his new bride home, and decides to start her training immediately. Emily has secrets, her upbringing being the biggest of them. In the end Emily and Wyatt discover that they are made for each other. Fantastic book, I love this series!
I received this free book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wyatt has sent for a mail order bride and he had specific requirements and the bride who arrived was made to order. Emily spent most of her life in a brothel and even though she is technically a virgin (having not been touched by another man) she is not innocent. This is a great addition to the series and this author always gives us a happy ending!

Oh, the second in the series and boy, is it fantastic! What a great plot, with sexy hot dominant cowboys and submissive women who still have some sass. Very well written and keeps me turning page after page. I love this series and can't wait for the next!
I have come to absolutely love Vanessa Vale's books. The Cowboy is a hot and sexy read that anyone would enjoy. Be prepared for a fire with this one. I'm looking forward to the next book.
