The author developed a great heroine in Terry. Jesse character was predictable- former Navy Seal with problems adjusting to the civilian world. The plot had potential, if it would have been more realistic. The main issues I had were with the inconsistencies in the book. For example, Jesse tells Terry he served on the same team with Alex Rossi, which is strange as Jesse didn’t know who Alex was when Zane called him about a possible job in Montana. Plus a few pages later after Terry and Jesse roadside talk, Alex introduces himself to Jesse at the sheriff’s office. This author doesn’t understand time zones, as 8 AM in Washington D.C. isn’t 8 AM in Montana. So the whole timing for the Zero Hour was off. That’s a pretty big oversight by the author, when that is the main plot and even the name of the book. To point out one more mistake, in the Epilogue it states “Zane had his arm around her”, I am sure Lainie would not be happy if her husband Zane was curled up with Terry. Didn’t anyone proofread this book? I really don’t understand the 4 and 5 Star reviews for a story with so many inconsistencies.
Zero Hour is by Desiree Holt. This is book 3 of the Heros rising series. Terry Fordice was between jobs and had just settled down to rest when she was called into her boss’s office. He had a special job for her. She was going undercover to try to find out what Reed Morgan was really up to. He was an arms dealer but he had something getting ready to go on that sounded scary. The DEA had someone inside Reed’s organization but he was limited as to what he could send. They sent Terry in as a magazine reporter to do a feature on Morgan. What better thing could he want. By the time she was discovered, she had already left. They knew Reed had a ranch in Montana and his agenda had something to do with it. Since Terry knew the sheriff there, she was chosen to go to see what she could find out. Unfortunately, there she ran into her ex-, Jesse. That is never good is it?
It's been three years, but neither had forgotten the other...Jesse regretted walking away, but knew he wasn't whole enough, he just didn't know how to heal, what he needed to do - until Terry is in danger. Then all his training and instincts kick in, he is focused and determined to keep her safe, so he can secure their future. Terry was devastated when Jesse left and is wary now he is back, she struggles to trust him with her heart but doesn't hesitate to trust him with her life. Can she help him to trust himself and move forward. I love this series and it is great to catch up with Alex, Micki, Zane and Lainie, please tell me we are getting more books in this series.
Zero Hour is a fabulous romantic suspense by Desiree Holt. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Holt has given readers a well-written book populated with a cast of characters that is phenomenal. Terry is an agent at ATFE and after going undercover ends up running for her life. Jesse arrives at his new job after helping Terry with her flat tire. Who knew the woman he walked out on would be headed to the same place he was? Terry and Jesse's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I loved this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next Desiree Holt book. Zero Hour is book 2 of the Brotherhood Protectors World; Heroes Rising but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
Zero Hour: The title was perfect for the story! Fantastic characters and great writing. I loved all the suspense and surprises. They all work really well together. I love that The sparks were still strong between and I loved Terry and her photo genic memory. It was a great story!
I agree with another review that it definitely needed better editing/proofreading, but I enjoyed the book anyway. Characters were good and were able to resolve issues. I always enjoy having characters from previous stories as part of the book.
We end up back in Montana to hunt down the terrorists hiding place in the mountains and take them down. but they have to find them first. Good to see some of the regular characters. HEA
Loved it! Great second chance romance, and good mix of romance and action. The plot was fascinating and so intriguing. Only complaint is I didn't want it to end!
This is Terry and Jesse's love story, she's a federal agent posing as a reporter to try and get information on a rich bad guy with bad intentions, he's a former Navy SEAL running from a woman he never expects to see again and his PTSD.
I would recommend this book and series for mature readers only (sexual content) that enjoy reading stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic.
Zero Hour: Brotherhood Protector’s World: Hero Rising Book 2 is by Desiree Holt. The characters are realistic and well developed. The plot is definitely clearly developed as well as being realistic. There is explicit sex scenes which tend to take away from the story a little too much. The excitement starts on page one and ends at the end of the book. It is a hard book to put down.
Zero hour is a sexy, suspenseful, page-turner with an awesome plot. Desiree Holt did a great job with the characters. I could not put the book down! I can’t wait to see what’s next.
